Godzilla and King Kong are enjoying the kind of success in recent years that's almost unprecedented in the United States. Now, Legendary Comics is bringing fans Monsterverse Declassified, a new anthology coming to comic shops and bookstores this spring. There are not many details on the creative team or direction yet, but Declassified will feature Abaddon, Tiamat, Behemoth, and even more Titans.
Hot on the heels of the announcement that Kong will return to Skull Island in a graphic novel by Simon Furman and Christopher Jones, the Declassified graphic novel will be in stores on May 13, 2025. And yes, we can confirm this anthology will offer a day in the life of Doug, "the tiniest Titan of them all," bound to make for a pretty delightful story for fans of the franchise. Sadly, it doesn't look like Doug's story will be told by Art Baltazar and Franco, in spite of that slogan.

Delroy Lindo has entered the MonsterVerse.
The veteran actor, who will next be seen fighting vampires in Ryan Coogler’s upcoming Sinners, has closed a deal to join the cast of Legendary’s latest installment of its Godzilla-King Kong movie franchise.
Grant Sputore (I Am Mother) is directing the creature feature, which showcases gigantic monsters and the humans caught in between.
Plot details from the David Callaham-written script are being kept under the Earth’s crust, but Legendary has said the story will feature “several new human characters alongside the beloved and iconic Titans Godzilla and Kong as they face off against a cataclysmic world-ending threat.”
Kaitlyn Dever, who is new to the franchise, is headlining the human cast that also includes Jack O’Connell as her brother and Dan Stevens, who played laid-back monster veterinarian and dentist Trapper in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.

The Godzilla franchise debuted with the 1954 Japanese film Godzilla(Gojira). Since then, Japan and the rest of the world have known and become quite fascinated with Godzilla and the franchise the first film created. Future Godzilla movies would create creatures to act as foils and/or rivals to Godzilla as time passed.
The long-running Godzilla franchise's giant kaiju (Japanese for "strange beast") are terrifyingly powerful and destructive. Some of these mighty beasts are more potent than others and prove to be more formidable opponents to humanity and even the King of the Monsters himself. Others aren't nearly as strong as Godzilla, serving as weak allies to underscore Godzilla's strength or as minor foes to block his way before a real challenger approaches.

Earlier this year, the Monsterverse, Legendary’s interconnected series of monster-filled films that began with 2014’s “Godzilla,” celebrated its 10th anniversary. And now, our friends at Mondo are ready to celebrate, too – with two new vinyl figures; a poster that collects, for the first time, every monster from the series; and the vinyl debut of the soundtrack to “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters,” Apple TV+’s hit series.

Apple TV+'s Monarch: Legacy of Monsters has smashed its way onto the small screen in season 1, and there are interesting developments regarding season 2. Set within Legendary Pictures' MonsterVerse, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters takes place in the aftermath of Godzilla's battle against the Mutos in San Francisco during 2014's Godzilla. The series follows two siblings who uncover their family's secret connection to an organization known as Monarch that has known about the existence of giant monsters for generations. As a series, Legacy of Monsters serves as a bridge between the MonsterVerse's myriad of films.
With reviews being largely positive, the Apple TV+ original puts the focus on the characters while also adding in a slew of kaiju action for good measure. While Monarch fixes some concerns about the MonsterVerse by clearing up timeline issues, it also represents the next big step in the massive movie franchise as it branches out into TV.

The first season of Legendary’s MonsterVerse TV series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters ran on Apple TV+ from November into January (you can read our own Alex Maidy’s review of the first batch of episodes Here), and while Godzilla was an important figure in that season, it wrapped up with an episode that indicated Kong might be taking the spotlight if there were to be a follow-up. In April, it was confirmed that Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 2 was a sure thing – and cast member Anna Sawai said she hoped the new episodes would be in production soon. Well, now, seven months later, filming is officially underway on Monarch season 2! Apple TV made the announcement on social media:

Kong's upcoming return in the Monsterverse can finally help make up for the true sequel to 2017's Kong: Skull Island that never ended up happening. The giant ape was first introduced during his solo movie, before having a crossover with Godzilla in Godzilla vs. Kong in 2021. He was later a prominent character in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire in 2024, helping the reptilian Titan take down the Skar King. But his adventures are far from over, with a Godzilla x Kong sequel already in development, slated for release on March 26, 2027.
These crossover sequels have done plenty to emphasize Kong's character, often giving him the spotlight alongside a cast of human allies. By the end of Godzilla x Kong, he's become a king to other giant apes in the Hollow Earth, bringing Suko and Shimo back to help build a better life for his new people. The return of everyones favorite prehistoric mutated monster breathed new life into the possibility of an expanding MonsterVerse that will not stray too far from the Toho source material. The decision to create an exclusive universe featured primarily on the Titans and their altercations with one another proved to be the magical formula that Legendary needed to skyrocket the franchise as a successful commercial project.

The Monsterverse was overdue for a reboot. Gareth Edwards planned to remedy this, with the approval of Toho Co., Ltd., the owners of the Godzilla franchise. Produced by Legendary Pictures, they started with Godzilla in 2014. The success of this franchise quickly gained traction with Godzilla Vs. Kong. This enabled even more Monsterverse exploration and led to the approval of the series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. Matt Shakman took the helm of this series, which extended the lore of Godzilla by following the events of Edwards' Godzilla. When Monarch: Legacy of Monsters premiered on Apple TV+ in 2023, it became an instant hit.

The Pacific Rim franchise has traversed several different forms of media, and the upcoming TV show set in that universe has high expectations thanks to a similar franchise proving the concept can work. From Legendary Entertainment, the Pacific Rim live-action TV show will be a prequel to the events of Guillermo del Toros 2013 kaiju classic. There are very few details available about the plot or any of the cast and crew who will be involved with its production, but the show will likely feature the early days of the Kaiju War depicted in the original movie.
As is often the case when a movie franchise moves into the world of streaming television, there is some wariness among fans of the franchise regarding the quality of the TV show. The Pacific Rim franchise has been highlighted by battles between incredible monsters and massive robots, and the hesitance is that by transitioning to the small screen,...

The Monsterverse's future on the small screen is secure with the news that Apple TV+ had renewed Monarch: Legacy of Monsters for a second season following a successful freshman season. Additionally, the streamer signed on for more spin-offs from the franchise, whose details are yet to be revealed. The good news is that production won't need to bring in new people, potentially affecting the quality of the spin-offs. Deadline reports that Chris Black, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters showrunner, has signed a new deal with Legendary, the production company behind the series. The two-year deal ensures he remains on the flagship series. Under this deal, he will write the pilot for one of the Monarch spin-offs, signaling steady quality.

Mutants like Exodus and Jean Grey wield Omega-level powers, making them some of the most powerful in the Marvel Universe. Characters like Sunfire and Polaris also demonstrate incredible abilities, able to manipulate solar radiation and magnetism with precision. The potential of mutants like Franklin Richards and Scarlet Witch for reality manipulation and Chaos Magic make them some of the most powerful mutants to ever exist.
The X-Men and related mutant characters are among the most powerful in Marvel history. The X-gene that creates mutants can be tricky, no one ever really knows what to expect of it or how to predict it. People could be born with a tail or feathers and still be a mutant, while others are born with the potential for unlimited power. The reason for the ranking system when it comes to a mutants level of power is to at least attempt to monitor this spectrum.
