A spin-off to the 2014 Godzilla film, Monarch Season 2 will once again follow Anna Sawai and members of the covert organization as they investigate the Titans. However, this time they will be in an exotic new location, the home of everyone's favorite gorilla kaiju from Kong: Skull Island.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 2 has gotten a new behind-the-scenes photo featuring the cast as filming for the Monsterverse TV show officially wraps. Monarch season 1 ended with Cate Randa (Anna Sawai), May (Kiersey Clemons), and Keiko (Mari Yamamoto) returning from the Hollow Earth in an Operation Hourglass vehicle. However, they end up on Skull Island two years later, learning Kentaro (Ren Watabe) and Hiroshi (Takehiro Hira) have joined Apex Cybernetics. Filming for season 2 began in July 2024, promising Kong's formal introduction into the series after his cameo in the final moments of season 1.

Now, Apple TVhas posted a behind-the-scenes image of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 2, showing Sawai, Clemons, Watabe, and Hira celebrating in front of the crashed Operation Hourglass vehicle. The post's caption confirmed the new episodes have officially finished filming, while asking viewers not to look too deep into what seems like destroyed parts of a building in the background.

Exclusive: Lincoln Child’s New York Times bestselling book series Jeremy Logan, is being put into feature development at Amazon MGM Studios with Safehouse Pictures producing.

Jeremy Lott and Cory Goodman are writing the script. The film will follow Jeremy Logan who is a self-proclaimed “enigmatologist,” an investigator who works to debunk the paranormal and unexplained using modern science. The Jeremy Logan books include the Child’s novels Deep Storm, Terminal Freeze, The Third Gate, The Forgotten Room, Full Wolf Moon, and Chrysalis.

The film will fall under Safehouse Pictures’ first-look film deal with the studio, with Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell producing.

Goodman and Lott are currently adapting the comic series Proof for Fox. They have also landed several seven-figure spec deals including Lore for Warner Bros. starring Dwayne Johnson, and Hood for Sony with Jerry Bruckheimer producing. The veteran actor, who will next be seen fighting vampires in Ryan Coogler’s upcoming Sinners, has closed a deal to join the cast of Legendary’s latest installment of its Godzilla-King Kong movie franchise.

Grant Sputore (I Am Mother) is directing the creature feature, which showcases gigantic monsters and the humans caught in between.

Plot details from the David Callaham-written script are being kept under the Earth’s crust, but Legendary has said the story will feature “several new human characters alongside the beloved and iconic Titans Godzilla and Kong as they face off against a cataclysmic world-ending threat.”

Apple TV+'s Monarch: Legacy of Monsters has smashed its way onto the small screen in season 1, and there are interesting developments regarding season 2. Set within Legendary Pictures' MonsterVerse, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters takes place in the aftermath of Godzilla's battle against the Mutos in San Francisco during 2014's Godzilla. The series follows two siblings who uncover their family's secret connection to an organization known as Monarch that has known about the existence of giant monsters for generations. As a series, Legacy of Monsters serves as a bridge between the MonsterVerse's myriad of films.

With reviews being largely positive, the Apple TV+ original puts the focus on the characters while also adding in a slew of kaiju action for good measure. While Monarch fixes some concerns about the MonsterVerse by clearing up timeline issues, it also represents the next big step in the massive movie franchise as it branches out into TV.

Premiering a year ago this week, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters was an immediate hit for Apple TV, and rightfully so. As the first live-action Godzilla series to hit the small screen here in North America, anticipations were at an all-time high to see how everyones favorite Titan would fare on television, and the results did not disappoint. Now, nearly 365 days following Monarchs debut, Apple TV has provided fans with a huge update on Season 2.

Posting on X this morning, Apple TV revealed that production on Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 2 has officially begun. The announcement was accompanied by a photo (seen below) that shows a Monarch base in shambles, with a couple of jeeps nearby sporting the Apex Cybernetics logo. "Greetings from Skull Island," the caption reads. "Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 2 is in production."

Exclusive: Cloud Nine Productions, one of the production companies behind CBS’ Matlock, has a new President.

The company, which was founded by NCIS: Los Angeles star Eric Christian Olsen, has named Amanda Tudesco to the role.

Tudesco was previously Head of TV & Film at Jenny Kissed Me, Jenny Han’s production company that had an overall deal at Amazon.

She will help Olsen expand the company’s television footprint and develop a slate of projects under its first-look deal with CBS Studios, which is the studio behind the Kathy Bates-fronted legal drama.

It comes after Matlock was handed an early season two renewal.

Amber Midthunder, whose TV credits include Roswell, New Mexico, Legion and Hulu’s acclaimed Predator prequel movie Prey, has boarded the cast of Apple TV+’s Godzilla-Kong series, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters.

Prey's breakout star is joining the Monsterverse. Amber Midthunder has been cast in Season 2 of Apple TV+'s Monarch: Legacy of Monsters.

According to Variety, Midthunder will appear in the heavily recurring role of Isabel, "an intelligent and powerful businesswoman." She joins a cast that includes returning Season 2 stars Anna Sawai, Joe Tippett, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, and Takehiro Hira. Filming on Monarch's sophomore season began in August 2024.

Midthunder is best known for her starring role in the Predator film, Prey, which was released in 2022 on Hulu to critical acclaim. Her acting credits also include The Ice Road, Rez Ball, FX's Legion, The CW's Roswell, New Mexico, and Netflix's Avatar: The Last Airbender.

A new report from Variety revealed that Amber Midthunder, best known for starring in the Hulu Original Movie, Prey, has joined the cast of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 2 in what is described as a "heavily recurring role." Variety reports that Midthunder's character, Isabel, is an "intelligent and powerful businesswoman." Monarch is the first major new addition to the Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 2 cast since the renewal was announced earlier this year in April. The MonsterVerse spin-off show was a major hit for Apple TV+, earning strong viewership while also being well-received by both critics and audiences it sits at an 86% score from reviewers and a 77% rating from general audiences on Rotten Tomatoes.

The cast of Season 1 of the series included Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell as well as Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Anders Holm, John Goodman, Joe Tippett, and Elisa Lasowski.

Veteran TV creator and showrunner Hank Steinberg has entered a broadcast direct deal with Fox Entertainment where he executive produces the upcoming medical drama Doc. Under the pact, Steinberg, creator and executive producer of the hit CBS series Without A Trace, will be developing new, Fox-owned scripted dramas for the network.
