Grant Gustin, best known for playing Barry Allen in The CW’s The Flash, recently shared his thoughts on whether he would return for a reboot of the series. The Arrowverse officially came to an end in December 2024, with Superman & Lois season 4 marking the franchise’s final chapter. However, The Flash, which ran for nine seasons, was the last show from the Earth-Prime side of the Arrowverse to conclude.

During an appearance on Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum, Gustin was asked if he would be open to returning for a 10-episode Flash revival. While he didn’t give a definitive yes, he admitted he would love to return under the right circumstances.

“Yeah, of course, there’s a lot of things that I’d have to like ask… not for, but about. I’d be more interested in the [creative side],” Gustin said.

Superman & Lois stars Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch recently discussed The CW show, sharing their thoughts on the season finale. Titled "It Went By So Fast," the final episode aired on December 2, 2024, and depicted the iconic characters' respective deaths three decades after putting away their archnemesis Lex Luthor.

Hoechlin and Tulloch were on Megacon's Superman & Lois panel. In response to Cbr's question about their initial reaction to Superman & Lois Season 4's script, Tulloch responded, "I was surprised they went so full circle." Hoechlin added, "I thought it was very bold. When I read it, I felt different than when we started shooting it. I knew it would be good." In the season finale, Lois passes away after her cancer returns, with Clark joining her in the afterlife a few years later after dying of heart failure. The pair, however, enjoyed a full life together before their deaths.

Superman & Lois star Elizabeth Tulloch recently revealed there was a planned crossover with the Arrowverse franchise. It never materialized as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Speaking at MegaCon Orlando, Tulloch shared that Superman & Lois almost crossed over with Batwoman -- but the pandemic ended up impacting the studio's ability to film safely. "There was a brief discussion about us having a crossover with Batwoman, but there was [sic] strict Covid protocols back then," she said. "They were concerned about the cast."

Superman is a character that needs no introduction, as he's become one of the most popular characters in all of fiction. His iconic costume, especially his "S" symbol (a.k.a. the House of El's coat of arms), is revered throughout the world, and the character is still being discussed and adapted into movies and TV to this very day.

Actor David Corenswet is the next actor to put on the red cape in this summer's Superman film, directed by one of the heads of DC Studios James Gunn. Promotion for the film has begun and, with the release of the teaser for the movie just recently, now would be a good time to discuss which actor portrayed Superman the best in the character's many incarnations.

Out of the myriad of live action Superman actors, I can only think of two that really embodied the characters of both the Man of Steel...

Tom Welling, best known for his role as Clark Kent on Smallville, recently discussed his reluctance to appear as his iconic character in the Arrowverse before 2019. During his appearance at Fan Expo New Orleans, Welling explained why he turned down earlier opportunities to reprise the role.

He revealed that while he received calls from the Arrowverse producers, they weren’t for acting but for playing Clark Kent specifically. He felt strongly that Clark’s character would not fit into those shows without losing something important from Smallville‘s vision.

Although Smallville was a key part of the foundation for the Arrowverse, Welling was careful not to disrupt what had already been established. If he had appeared as Superman in Supergirl’s second season, it could have changed the direction of the Arrowverse, especially with Tyler Hoechlin cast as Superman in that role and the Superman & Lois series later emerging.

Superman might be invincible, but Henry Cavill’s paycheck? Not so much. Fans of the Dcu’s Man of Steel have long debated if Cavill was seriously underpaid for donning that iconic cape. And yes, he probably was.

According to a new report from Deadline, the streaming service is looking to continue with the series with a new movie, one that could potentially launch a franchise. The original series, which is loosely based on the classic Grimm's Fairy Tales by the Brothers Grimm, ran for six seasons and over 120 episodes on NBC from 2011 to 2017. At one point, the network considered a spinoff to explore the Grimm mythology further, but it never came to fruition.

Cancellations are a normal and expected part of the TV life cycle. No show can go on forever – well unless you’re The Simpsons maybe – and it’s inevitable that all shows will come to a close at some point.

That said, it’s far too common for some of the best shows to grace our screens to have their runs end abruptly and it’s incredibly frustrating as a fan when these decisions are not the result of anything the show has done wrong. In 2024, there were countless shows canceled across broadcast, cable, and streaming, and some of these cancellations were deserved or expected. However, there were just as many that have left us annoyed, bitter, and upset.

As 2024 draws to a close, let’s take a look back at the cancellations that we still haven’t gotten over this year beginning with the most puzzling cancellation on the superhero front,...

Now that your broadcast-tv favorites are on holiday break, TVLine is looking at how each network’s shows are stacking up thus far in the 2024-25 TV season. We kicked off with ABC and CBS, and today turn our attention to The CW.

We know TV characters have to die. Sometimes, it’s the villains that we’re ready for and cheering about. Other times, it’s the good guys sacrificing themselves for something bigger. Then there are simply the shocking deaths that we just didn’t see coming. 2024 had a great mixture of them all.

Some deaths hit us the hardest. We still can’t think of the shows without thinking of those deaths. In some cases, they’ve just hit the right time despite bring filmed months or years earlier. Other deaths are purposely poignant for the social climate of the world. After all, entertainment isn’t just there for entertaining purposes.

As we get ready to say goodbye to 2024, we look back at the character deaths that destroyed us the most. The aim is for broadcast deaths only, but there are a couple of basic cable and premium cable deaths that sneak in here.

The history of superhero TV shows on The CW started and ended with Superman. The very first, just as the network was born from the ashes of Upn and the WB, was "Smallville," which set a standard for telling superhero origin stories on TV without big budgets or blockbuster-level visual effects, and went on to become a Guinness World Record holder.

23 years later, The CW said goodbye to what will likely be the network's very last superhero TV show in "Superman & Lois." Rather than being another origin story, however, this series was a bold and exciting new take that began 20 years after Clark Kent had first suited up as the Man of Steel, battled foes like Lex Luthor, married Lois Lane, and become a father to twin boys. Rather than examining the start of Superman's career, the show explored Clark Kent's life as a middle-aged superhero all the way through to his final years.

Superman & Lois was one of the best superhero television projects to this day, so when it ended earlier this year, fans were incredibly upset. It was a beautiful series that honored the legacy of Superman and kept people engaged from the show's pilot to the finale. Tyler Hoechlin quickly became revered as one of the best actors for the character, thanks to his wonderful performance.

The many adaptations of Superman in film and TV have seen certain characters be changed to be practically unrecognizable. Even long before the movies of the Dceu, Superman was DC’s most famous movie character. As perhaps the most iconic superhero in pop culture, the Man of Steel has been adapted to the screen many times, in film and TV and in both live-action and animation. This has seen many different takes on the hero and his supporting characters.

So many different actors who've played Superman have put their own spin on the character, and similarly, many varied approaches to adapting his world have taken place over the years. This has seen many Superman characters be changed almost beyond recognition in some adaptations, with creative license being applied in the process of translating the DC story from page to screen. Networks like the CW, Freeform and Fox were once a treasure trove of teen TV, with slates packed with series like “The O.C.,” “Gossip Girl,” “Pretty Little Liars” and “90210.” But as younger audiences completely shun linear, these networks have largely abandoned teen programming.

Ratings for the CW and Freeform, two networks that used to be teen-centric, dropped 30% and 22%, respectively, from 2022 to 2023.

Today streaming is a haven for YA programs viewers once found on network TV. The curtain has fallen on the Arrowverse’s beloved superhero saga faster than a speeding bullet. At least, that’s how it seems. After four excellent seasons, the epic tale of the Man of Steel and his wife, Lois Lane, reached its thrilling conclusion. With James Gunn set to usher in a new era for the Big Blue Boy Scout in 2025, fan editor Bauan Edits brought the two DC projects together, giving the Superman teaser trailer an amazing Smallville-style makeover.

When Season 4 of Superman & Lois was announced as the series closer, many were intrigued how the cast would be handled. There were budget cuts, a truncated episode count to 10, and regulars now placed as guest roles. Thankfully, the show stuck the landing.

It gave the likes of Doomsday more screen time, while still allowing new faces like Douglas Smith's Jimmy Olsen an entry point. By the time Doomsday fell, and the show ended, Superman had the team he needed to chart a future. Unfortunately, the most obvious member that many expected to appear got omitted: Melissa Benoist's Supergirl.

Warning! This article contains spoilers for all of DC's 2024 releases.2024 has been quite a deadly year for the DC Universe, with plenty of movies and TV shows being released with a high body count. Compared to years past, which saw frequent releases of Dceu movies, 2024 constituted something of a gap year for DC's live-action projects, with Batman villain solo stories like Joker: Folie Á Deux and The Penguin eating the lion's share of the notoriety. Both of these projects presented audiences with some shocking moments, including deaths carrying huge implications for their respective continuities.

2024 also saw DC release a number of high-profile animated projects, from the start of the Dcu with Creature Commandos to the finale of the animated Tomorrowverse series with the Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths trilogy. These animated shows and films were arguably even more audacious with character deaths, rounding out the year for the company.

Superman & Lois ended recently, bringing a shining chapter of superhero television on The CW to a resounding close, and standing counter to a number of complaints I've heard over the years about them and their DC Universe. While Superman & Lois closed after the cancelation of the Arrowverse, the series shared much of its DNA with the popular television universe. Tyler Hoechlin's Superman first appeared in Supergirl before returning for various appearances in some of the show's enormous team-up events.

Doing superheroes on the small screen is a complex beast, and some of the best DC live-action series have not received as much acclaim as they deserve. While HBO has built a name for itself, and excellent shows like The Penguin are seen as prestigious for their links to the cinematic The Batman universe, other series have been viewed less favorably.
