Track 2: I'll Take You There

I am European and I did not read the novel on which this series is based. In fact, I had not even heard about it, but I had a very strong feeling it was written by a woman. After having watched two episodes i checked and found out the obvious: this is pure chick-lit with a thin coating of rebellious 70s.

Based on what I know about bands of the 70s, none of this makes sense except seen through the eyes of a contemporary young woman patronising her audience.

Billy's band is made of 5 people, the wifey is not the sixth member, but they accept Karen suggestion as perfectly obvious... sure, in your dreams. There are almost more scenes of Camila taking pictures than of the band members... again female point of view.

Singers like Robert Plant and Mick Jagger juggled drugs, groupies, wives and children without all the drama, because at the time it was "normal" to live the dissolute lives with little insight. I mean, Jimmy Page slept with a 13 y.o. Groupie, that's a fact.

As far as Daisy herself, she's is presented as an incomparable genius (from a teenager point of view), but she comes across as entitled and arrogant. How many times I saw the story of "I was a waitress but an agent spotted me and I became a model/actress/rock star without even trying, because I am a natural and I did not change my style a bit, because I'm always right".

And the music is not even that good...
