I gave this comedy a chance because of the great casting with Pierce Brosnan, Ellen Barkin, Nina Dobrev and Michael Rooker, but even they couldn't save this mess. The chemistry between Dobrev and Devine wasn't convincing, mainly because Devine can't really act. Unless you're a fan of Adam Devine and Blake Anderson and their infantile humor in Workaholics, you probably will cringe and eyeroll your way through the lame comedy, which is pretty much spot on with the Workaholics series. It feels like a bunch of failed SNL sketches. The entire writing is cliched and predictable, and the directing does nothing to elevate the already irritating comedy and generic story. Had they cast someone actually funny, like a Kevin Hart, this would've been more enjoyable. If you're into snot-nose barf-up comedy, this may be for you, and all the pre-teens out there, but not for mentally stable and mature audiences. The bogus 10/10 reviews are funnier.

This movie was definitely not the best of 2023, not close to the best comedies out there, but it was enjoyable. This is a perfect family movie. No nudity or anything like that.
A good movie these days is a rare thing, especially comedies.
Its obviously low budget but that's why I rated it only a 6. A lot of room for improvement here and a bit goofy. But it kept me entertained all the way through, and that's what matters.
There's just one issue which I don't get it, maybe a plot hole towards the end, I don't want to give spoilers but that didn't make sense. Otherwise very good comedy. But I guess sometimes you just have to realize its a movie, just to have fun, and not think so seriously about it.
Acting was alright, pace was fantastic, never a dull moment.

The number 1 deadly sin for a comedy is when it's not funny.
Same goes for a thriller that doesn't thrill.
This one manages to hit both criteria. Not even remotely funny and certainly not exiting either.
How it even managed to get past the script level, is a total mystery to me.
The basic idea could very well have made for a decent comedy, but it would have required some talent on the writers part. Oh, and it certainly would have required Adam Devine NOT to be in it.
From the moment it begins he embarrases himself with the most ridiculous over the top "acting" I've seen for years, and it just goes on and on from there.
Brosnan and Barkin don't do much besides collecting their paychecks, and they should both be ashamed of taking part in this piece of garbage.

This is one of those comedies where you only watch it because you stumbled onto it on Netflix. You aren't even looking forward to watching it but you have a 90 minutes to kill. You watch it, get mildly entertained, finish it and forget about it. You enjoy your time with it but move on.
That being said it wasn't bad at all. The main actor just seems to have no range at all. I like him, but he plays the same role in every film or tv show he is in. The other actors were pretty funny especially Pierce Brosnan. It was refreshing to see him in a goofball comedy.
Just another I have some time to kill so let's watch it movie.

Unfortunately I can not think of a single good thing to say about this movie. It's bad. Really, really bad. The script is terrible. I assume the actors only did this to pay off a debt. Adam Devine is easily the worst lead actor in cinematic history, so I hope he rakes in the Razzie Awards. Well deserved.
Adam Sandler produced this train wreck, so I didn't have high expectations in the first place. Those expectations were lowered almost immediately. Not even Pierce Brosnan could save this terrible movie.
If you have the "outlaw" in-laws holding a gun to your head, then sure, watch it. But if you a sock drawer that needs sorting or drying paint that needs watching, do that instead.

This movie is so bad. It's so bad. It's completely unfunny, you want to actually punch Adam Devines character multiple times per second.
The acting, if you can call it that, is over the top and so unfunny, the storyline is so poor I don't think they knew what they were doing until the day of shooting. It's just a horrible mess.
Do yourself a favour and stab yourself in the eye with a fork instead.
There is not one redeeming grace. Not one. All the people involved in this movie should be barred from working in the industry ever again.
I don't know what the actors were thinking or how the producers managed to get such high names involved. Or perhaps they were all drunk. Or high. Or both.

Devine is truly one of the most annoying, talentless so called actors ever. He literally destroys anything he's in with his non changing, whining, simpering man child performance bordering on mental illness. He's that awful. Brosnan and Barkin must really owe someone to be in this celluloid abomination. We watched 30 minutes without cracking a smile. I truly pity anyone that genuinely found this funny because it deals with some of the most annoying, irritating characters in the history of cinema. It's just as bad as that other trash wedding movie with JLo a couple of months ago. If I could spare just one person from watching this nightmarish exercise in the lowest form of entertainment then I've done my due diligence here in helping my fellow man. Avoid with everything you have.

Owen Browning (Adam Devine) is a softy bank manager. He is marrying girlfriend Parker McDermott (Nina Dobrev) despite his parents (Richard Kind, Julie Hagerty) calling her a stripper. He is meeting her parents (Pierce Brosnan, Ellen Barkin) for the first time. Unbeknownst to him and Parker, her parents are a notorious bank robbing team. Agent Oldham (Michael Rooker) has been obsessively chasing them.
I don't always love Adam Devine, but I love him in this role. I love everyone at work making fun of him. I love him as the butt of the joke. It's his best position. I like that all four parents diminishes him although I want them to do more of it. Nina Dobrev is a bit of a blank although her character is stuck in a clueless loop. She needs to do more. Make her the superhero of the couple. The one false note is Lauren Lapkus. She's too mean. I can see why some would look down on this movie. It's too light to be taken seriously and kinda stupid. I laughed and that's the only measuring stick for a comedy.

There a few laughs in the movie, I gotta give it that. But for the most part this movie is stupid, cliche and down right annoying. Adam Divine is a frigging train wreck, his delivery of the dialogue is so over the top it's hard to stomach. His screaming like a baby is neither funny or any way entertaining and there is way, way too much of it. The thing is, with some better casting and better direction it could have been a great movie. Nina Dobrev is the exception, she's pretty much makes it all work. Ellen Barkin and Pearce Brosnen have a pretty good pedigree but seem miscast and are not believable. How we made to the end, I don't know.

Don't be fooled by the surprisingly rich lineup of actors appearing in this veritable train wreck. I hope they at least got paid for their time.
While the production quality is first rate, and the producers seemingly spared no expense on stunts and visual effects, the script is truly awful and the acting spiritless .
There are no redeeming qualities to be found anywhere in this film. Both the story and the characters are flat and unbelievable. There's no spark between any of the actors paired up as couples; no reason to believe that they are actually together at all.
The jokes and gags come on hard and heavy. Seriously, the sheer volume of jokes seems unprecedented, but there's nothing new and they're not even remotely funny.
I don't think I laughed out loud even once!!!

Considering some of the garbage netflix has released recently I was expecting this to have a better review. Was this a ground breaking film? Absolutely not but it's a comedy with Adam DeVine you'd think people would know what they're getting into. Like most comedic actors he has one role he normally plays, in his case an idiot. He does it well and I laughed the entire movie. Maybe it was the edible I ate who knows but this movie was very enjoyable for me. Everyone was good/funny and it was a refreshing plot for a comedy. Are you gonna wanna see this in 70mm in imax? Probably not but it'a a solid movie for a night in.
There's something about Adam that he always wants to be portrayed as a childish and clumsy yet romantic manchild that just doesn't cut it anymore
The movie al in itself is just awful, the performances, the cliche and textbook jokes, spare yourself from watching this piece of garbage movie that uses an old and worn recipe and somehow makes it ten times worse.
This is the last thing I'll ever watch with Adam in it, always the same character (himself but with a new quirky and useless thing) - watching him truly makes you a bit more stupid, no matter the show, the movie or wherever you see him.
Stead clear of this BS of an attempt at comedy.

The Out-laws was funny and cute. Being a Happy Madison film I knew it would be, but the ensemble cast made it that much better. It's a family comedy with a dark undertone and the criminal elements make for a hilarious and entertaining ride.
The idea of Nina Dobrev playing a yoga instructor and having Pierce Brosnan as a father makes her an interesting setup in this movie, but Ellen Burstyn took the film as her platinum criminal mother and the way it turns out is both cute and somewhat predicable, but it is a good movie to watch for a few laughs and casual viewing if you're looking for something novel to view.

Was bored, saw this at number 1 on Netflix, so I gave it a go.
This was torturous to watch. I thought Pierce Brosnan was worth it, but my goodness! I was fooled. I had to speed it up at the end because I wanted it to be over soon.
Does Adam Devine have to play an insufferable half-brain every single time? Because this is getting old and terribly unfunny.
The story was of course nonsense from the beginning. The writing's bad. The humour are childish, dirty jokes everywhere, just the lowest kind of humour. Then I learned that Adam Sandler was the producer, so then I understand why.
Some big names couldn't really help, because the film itself is just rubbish.
The action was okay, but mostly ridiculous, shootings just for the sake of shooting, car chase through a graveyard for fun, that's a bit too much, honestly.
I strongly advise you to save your time by skipping this film.

I've never been a big fan of Adam, but Pierce/Ellen/Richard and Julie as the parents?! That meal scene alone was hilarious and worth the watch. Orgies?! How could you not cackle at Julie's character taking about attending those when she was younger? And I just love those four anyway. How fun to see Julie on screen again! I wish they would have all gotten more screen time though.
Same with Dean. He's outrageous and should have been utilized to a larger degree.
The main couple were fine, but everyone else stole the limelight.
I watch movies for entertainment. I'm not one to analyze them. Was I entertained? Yes. I enjoyed it.

Please someone tell me why Adam Devine keeps getting worrk. His gimmick is his over-the-top antics, facial gestures, screams and just a complete caricuature of an idiot. He can be okay in one-minute scenes here and there, but having him lead a move is frustrating and burdensome. Imagine a move about Cartman, everything would get old quick.
Having decent actors like Ellen Barkin and Peirce Brosnan who do not overplay their roles only makes Adam Devine more awkard when he is on screen with them.
This is a comedy and I never once laughed. I smile once with a psuedo fourth wall break when a statement was made about the best James Bond. And that was it. Not funny, not dramatic, not action, nothing.

A Happy Madison (Adam Sandler) produced film. Except for Adam DeVine, the casting is stellar. Sorry, I don't find him funny, though he did make me laugh at least once. Pierce Brosnan, Ellen Barkin, Julie Hagerty, and Richard Kind deliver as the parents. This is the first time I've taken notice of Poorna Jagannathan, who did a wonderful job as the mob boss. The action scenes were quite entertaining and the supporting cast brought their A-game. I'm surprised by the poor reviews. This film is not going to win any awards. It's funny and silly, but it has a solid plot, well-executed action, a decent script, and a cast that made it enjoyable. Even a few inside jokes, if you're paying attention. Grab a pint of ice cream or a bag of popcorn and have a good laugh.
If you can't stand Adam, then don't watch his movies as he is pretty much the same character in all of them. I almost passed myself. Movies are meant to be entertaining and mission accomplished. Nina had a bit of bad girl vibe going on, I like it. Love me some Pierce always. This is not a documentary, no one said it was a true story, and you know what you are about to watch, so relax and let the funny happen. If you want to be focused on the plot, or if the action scenes can really happen then watch a mystery or drama. This is a comedy, we watch it wanting to let go and laugh, so do yourself a favor and just let it happen.

My god no wonder this movie never made it to the theatres. Very typical Happy Madison films, mediocre and low budget, nothing makes sense
Plot is flimsy at best, something that can written by a high school graduate. You can tell how little research they have done making this film
Pierce Bronson is the only saving grace to this movie. He certainly aged well and his Irish accent was spot on
I am glad Adam Sandlerand his friends were not involved in this movie, even though every character shadows his usual lameness of a cast
After watching this, ninety minutes I am never getting back in my life. I wish no one else have to go through what I went through.

I watched because of the cast. I do not really like "stupid" funny movies. But, I like some of the actors' other projects, and thought I'd give it a try. I usually can find something funny in an Adam Sandler movie if someone else is watching it. This was from his company, so I expected it to be the stupid funny type of movie. But, nothing was funny here.
If you love movies like Ave Ventura or Dumb and Dumber, then this is probably the movie for you. If you only find the occasional gag in these types of movies funny, then this is not the movie for you. None of the gags are funny and some are grosser than expected. If you enjoy watching vomiting repeatedly (which ironically happens in the first Pitch Perfect film, also starring Adam Devine) and snot all over someone's face for far too long, then make some popcorn and sit down for this one. You'll love it.

Not my usual genre but I was in the mood for some silliness and The Out-Laws delivered. Plenty of sight gags, one liners, and a ridiculous plot. It could have been a family friendly movie but there are a lot of crass remarks related to sexual organs and sexual acts that in my opinion aren't appropriate for children. At least not if they are watching in the same room with their parents! 🤣 I think it could have been just as good without those jokes.
There was one of the funniest chase scenes I've ever seen! Very clever! I also found the guard dog scene a hoot! Again, there was a very clever angle to it! Not spoiling so you'll have to watch!
The actors all did a great job with these over-the-top comedic roles. I've never seen Pierce Brosin play an undignified character before and he really pulled it off!

This film is so bad that even Pearse Brosnan, who is in fact Irish, fails to do a convincing Irish accent, settling instead for some mumbling akin to drunken pirate speak. This alone will tell you where the tone has been set and how much mediocrity has been waved through by the cretins who created this garbage.
If looking for car crash cinema, go no further. If you think it's so bad it'll be funny, you might be right, but the fact that it Isn't satire won't escape anyone with taste or an appreciation for their own precious time. In short, I wouldn't pay to see this if it wasn't lumped into streaming.
