Spoiler Alert !!!The following article features heavy spoilers from Severance Season 2!
When Severance debuted on Apple TV+, it gave leaving everything at work a completely new meaning. “All work and no play, makes Jack a dull boy”- certainly didn’t apply to the employees at Lumon, who spent all of their lives inside the painfully white rooms and a plus-shaped cubicle.
Ben Stiller’s psychological sci-fi concept was a slow burn for sure, which seemed like a regular office worker’s fantasy come true. However, the seemingly obscure and mundane storyline would go on to turn heads by the end of the first season.

By the time Stiller came up with Season 2, the hype meter was already quite high. Each episode ramped up the intensity as viewers explored the mysterious halls of Lumon and uncovered more of Eagan’s secrets,...

With series like "Severance" and "Slow Horses," Apple TV+ has a great library of original programming that continues to grow. However, between making your way through episodes of "Ted Lasso" or "Shrinking," you may have overlooked the streamer's period drama "Pachinko." Adapted from the best-selling 2017 novel of the same name by Min Jin Lee, the story's East Asian setting, including Korea, and heartbreaking emotional beats make it perfect for any K-drama fan. Keeping that in mind, it's also important to point out that, despite its cast and setting, "Pachinko" is not quite technically a K-drama itself.
"Pachinko" has its narrative split across two time periods centered on matriarch Kim Sunja and her family. In the past, a younger Sunja (Kim Min-ha) endures the brutal Japanese occupation of Korea and being forced to relocate to Japan while pregnant with the illegitimate son of the Japan-based Korean mobster Koh Hansu (Lee Min-ho). As World War II begins,...

This article contains Spoilers for Severance Season 2, Episode 10, "Cold Harbor."
The sequence of events that culminated in the SeveranceSeason 2 finale, “Cold Harbor,” left one of the scene’s key players with a bit of a sore throat. In the final act of the finale of the Apple TV+ series, Innie Mark (Adam Scott) has to choose between staying inside Lumon with Helly R. (Britt Lower) and leaving, effectively ending his existence, to be with Outie Mark’s wife, Gemma (Dichen Lachman).
In a gut-wrenching scene, Gemma escapes Lumon’s severed floor with the help of Innie Mark, regaining all of her memories of the life she had with Outie Mark. She then pleads for Innie Mark to walk through the door to be with her. However, Innie Mark ultimately makes the decision to stay inside Lumon where he will, for now, be alive. For Lachman, the scene took a toll on her voice.

Television has always been a medium designed for water-cooler conversation, but when it comes to a show like “Severance,” conversation can quickly turn to obsession. Though executive producer and director Ben Stiller is known to engage in the fervor on social media, most of the cast have abstained, however, in a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times, the show’s lead, Adam Scott, did admit he was keeping up with the fandom as best he could.
“I was a huge ‘Lost’ fan and huge ‘Twilight Zone’ person, so I totally get it,” he said. “I don’t really dive into all the theories and stuff on this, but I have seen some on Instagram, which is usually video of a podcast where they’re really diving into one theory or the other. Also, all of the artwork that people are making, it’s overwhelming and incredible. Whenever I see one on Instagram,...

The highly-anticipated Season 2 of Apple TV+’s critically acclaimed Severancehas come and gone as the finale premiered on March 21. The finale’s closing scene saw Innie Mark (Adam Scott) run off with Helly R. (Britt Lower) after rescuing his outie’s wife, Gemma (Dichen Lachman), from the testing floor at Lumon - a choice that may have had some fans scratching their heads.
Innie Mark displayed some interesting behavior prior to the finale as he couldn’t tell the difference between Helly and her outie, Helena Eagan, during a Lumon retreat. That mix-up, as well as a scene at the end of Severance’s ninth Season 2 episode, had fans wondering which version - Helly or Helena - was at the door during that pivotal final scene.

“I have Zoom [meetings] that I have to be on with like Ben [Stiller] and Dan [Erickson] — all the creatives on the show. And my family doesn’t want to hear anything so I have to go into a closet literally and do work,” Adam told Jimmy Kimmel the day before the season 2 finale aired.

The final scene in the Season 2 finale of Severancenearly didn’t play out the way viewers witnessed it when it premiered on March 21. In “Cold Harbor,” Innie Mark (Adam Scott) is left to make a decision - walk through the door and follow his outie’s wife, Gemma (Dichen Lachman), to the outside world, effectively killing Innie Mark, or stay in Lumon to face whatever will come with Helly R. (Britt Lower).
In the end, Innie Mark chooses his own life and leaves a crying Gemma by herself in the outside world. In an interview with Variety, Ben Stiller, who directed the finale, titled “Cold Harbor,” equated Mark’s decision to stay with Helly “young love running into the pit of hell.”

The season 2 finale of "Severance" ended with one hell of a moral dilemma: should Innie Mark escape with his outtie's wife Gemma, or should he return to Helly to enjoy whatever remains of his life on the inside? In a pure utilitarian sense, it would be better if he left with Gemma. That way Outtie Mark could get her out of the building safely and explain to her everything that's been going on. This is the best shot these characters have of taking down Lumon; it's also the best chance they've got at keeping Gemma alive, considering she'll be targeted hard by Lumon in the season to come.
Instead, Innie Mark turns around and chooses Helly, all while Gemma pleads with him from outside the door. It's not clear how much of this situation Gemma even understands, since nobody has told her that Mark is severed. Still, it must sting...

This article contains surprisingly gory spoilers for "Severance" season 2, episode 10 -- "Cold Harbor"
Like just about every other sci-fi thriller out there, "Severance" has been known to get its hands dirty on occasion. However, the show is nowhere near as bloody as you'd expect from a dystopian show about manipulated low-level workers struggling against a powerful megacorporation with a built-in religious cult and intentions of global dominance. In fact, I'd argue that a relative lack of physical brutality is a large part of the series' allure, as it allows "Severance" to focus on the impending sense of white collar doom that's both its crooked backbone and its greatest asset. But what would "Severance" look like if it woke up and chose violence? How would this impact the show's atmosphere going forward?

Fans of the Dan Erickson-created Apple TV+ series, Severance, had to wait nearly three years for a second season of the acclaimed sci-fi thriller. Season 1 ended in April 2022 with the iconic “She’s alive” moment in which Innie Mark (Adam Scott) realized that his outie’s wife, Gemma (Dichen Lachman), was, in fact, Ms. Casey, who worked at Lumon. Season 2 finally premiered in January 2025 and wrapped up its second season on March 21 with the finale “Cold Harbor.”
In an interview with Variety, Erickson addressed the long gap between seasons and if that could happen again. Severance was, just hours after the finale aired, renewed for a third season. When asked if the team was taking steps to make sure that there wouldn’t be such a large space between seasons this time, Erickson said, “There are.”

Picture this: you're an employee in a stark office building, tasked to monitor seemingly nonsensical data on a computer screen. All you need to do is press appropriate buttons on your keyboard without question, and repeat the process till you reach a certain quota. That is until one day, something strange and untoward happens, making you question the very fabric of your existence and immediate reality. No, this is not a peek into the purpose of the MicroData Refinement (Mdr) department in "Severance," but the contextual premise of "The Stanley Parable," the critically acclaimed video game that positions choice at its center. The similarities between the Apple TV+ show and the brilliant indie game don't stop here, as these thematic overlaps exist for a reason. Turns out, "Severance" creator Dan Erickson drew inspiration from "The Stanley Parable," as confirmed in a 2022 Reddit Ama.

It is impossible to narrow down the core of "Severance" to a few overarching themes. The Apple TV+ series has never shied away from tackling complex notions of identity, often shaped by grief, loss, cult-like devotion, or the ills of living in an aggressive capitalist culture. The very idea of severance as a procedure raises ethical questions, as those who willingly chose it were not fully made aware of what they were getting into. Lumon Industries, the terrible, conniving evil that looms over the world of the show, has its claws hooked into a dozen malpractices that are masked as pioneering feats of progress. Every victim that Lumon has claimed has been an experimental guinea pig for them, serving some sort of hidden purpose while being constantly abused and lied to. However, one particular social demographic has suffered the brunt of Lumon's grand and evil scheme: women.

This article contains Spoilers for Severance Season 2, Episode 10, "Cold Harbor."
Season 1 of Severancesaw the (failed) reintegration of former Lumon severed worker Petey (Yul Vasquez), but that didn’t stop Mark Scout (Adam Scott) from deciding to go through with the reintegration procedure with the help of former Lumon employee Asal Reghabi (Karen Aldridge). As a severed worker, Mark had a separate “innie” who worked on Lumon’s severed floor and an “outie” who lived in the outside world.
Flash forward to Season 2’s third episode, Outie Mark seemed fully committed to reintegrating his two selves, but as of the Season 2 finale, the process has not fully been completed. In the opening act of the finale, titled “Cold Harbor,” Outie Mark promises Innie Mark he will completely reintegrate.
In an interview with Variety, Severance creator Dan Erickson talked about what Outie Mark actually meant when he made that promise to his innie.

The following spoilers are mysterious and important. This article contains details from the season 2 finale of "Severance."
Season 2 of "Severance" just came to a spectacular end, but that isn't stopping the passionate fanbase from scouring every single inch of the last episode for hidden clues and deeper meaning that more casual audiences may have missed. The Apple TV+ drama has constantly rewarded observant -- some may say obsessive -- viewers, leaving all the mysterious goings-on over at Lumon Industries just ambiguous enough to support even the most outlandish fan-theories out there. Allusions to real-life conspiracy theories, never-ending speculation surrounding those pesky goats, and questions surrounding the exact nature of Cold Harbor are likely going to continue keeping those folks awake at night ... but at least one recurring belief that's been popping up on social media in the wake of the finale can now be safely considered debunked.

Apple TV+’s Severancewas renewed for a third season just hours after the Season 2 finale premiered on the streamer and the cliffhanger ending has a few of the show’s stars wondering what is next for their characters.
The finale, titled “Cold Harbor," left viewers clutching their proverbial pearls as Innie Mark S. (Adam Scott) chose Helly R. When on the testing floor, Lumon’s severed workers become their “outies” and Mark Scout is temporarily reunited with Gemma.
Once back on the severed floor, Innie Mark helps Gemma escape, which she does, begging Mark to go through the door to be with her. However, if Innie Mark does go, he will effectively die. But, as the ending unfolded, Mark...

This article contains Spoilers for Severance Season 2, Episode 10, "Cold Harbor."
The tenth and final episode of Severance’ssecond season culminated in a bloody way. After Innie Mark (Adam Scott) finished refining the “Cold Harbor” data file, he made his way to Lumon’s testing floor to attempt to rescue Outie Mark’s wife, Gemma (Dichen Lachman). After Cold Harbor was finished, Lumon had no need for Mark or Gemma, thus leading to the rescue. Severance director Ben Stiller opened up to The Hollywood Reporter about the episode’s violent turn.
While Innie Mark attempts to find the elevator that will lead him to Gemma, he is confronted by Lumon’s nefarious Mr. Drummond (Ólafur Darri Ólafsson), who thankfully is distracted enough not to sacrifice Emile the goat to Lumon founder Kier Eagan. A fight between Innie Mark and Mr. Drummond ensues, and Mark is given the upper hand with a...

The wait for season 2 of Severance was agonizing, to say the least, and similar will be the case for the third season. At least, unlike the inaugural season, instead of leaving fans on the fence for the nth time, the showrunners did leave us with a bittersweet conclusion, while still maintaining the uncertainty that lies ahead for the innies.

Tramell Tillman, known for his role as Mr. Milchick on Severance, made quite an entrance at the PaleyFest panel on Saturday. Fresh off the Severance Season 2 finale, Tillman showed off his real-life talent for “choreography and merriment” by leading the USC marching band into the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
The moment was a playful nod to his character’s dramatic finale scene.

This article contains Spoilers for Severance Season 2, Episode 10, "Cold Harbor."
The “Music Dance Experience” from Severance’sSeason 1 episode, “Defiant Jazz,” has spawned countless memes and GIFs showcasing actor Tramell Tillman’s Mr. Milchick’s impressive dancing skills. That scene, while hard to duplicate or top, was given a run for its money in the Season 2 finale. The tenth episode of the Apple TV+ series once again highlighted the versatility of the manager of Lumon’s severed floor.
In “Cold Harbor,” when Mark S. (Adam Scott) finishes refining the file of the same name, Mr. Milchick (after bolting away from Dylan G.) leads Lumon’s Department of Choreography and Merriment in a jubilant celebration.

A surprise standout in the season 2 finale of "Severance" was Gwendoline Christie's Lorne. Introduced as a mysterious woman in charge of Lumon's oddly-placed goat farm (which sparked plenty of fan theories), Lorne turned into an unexpected ally for Mark S. (Adam Scott) here. Her standout scene is when she points a gun at the terrifying Mr. Drummond (Ólafur Darri Ólafsson), rescuing Mark S. from certain death in the process. Yes, Mr. Drummond manages to disarm her, but she still gets to beat him up shortly afterward.
The fight is raw and brutal, not unlike a certain famous fight scene Gwendoline Christie got to perform on "Game of Thrones." There, her character Brienne of Tarth finds herself in a fight to the death with Sandor "The Hound" Clegane, and Brienne just barely manages to pull out a win. Just as Lorne loses her gun and has to fight with her hands,...

Spoiler Alert: This story contains spoilers for “Severance” Season 2, Episode 10, now streaming on Apple TV+.
Gemma has finally escaped — sort of.
The “Severance” Season 2 finale gave us the reunion we were waiting for all season. After both Mark’s innie and outie alternate navigating through Lumon’s maze of hallways to find Gemma (Dichen Lachman) on the Testing Floor, the couple start to make their escape together.
For Gemma, a former professor, the escape follows a distressing period of captivity at Lumon after the company faked her death in order to kidnap her, isolated her from the outside world and fractured her mind into several innies. But in that time, her husband Mark (Adam Scott) also became severed in order to deal with mourning her loss, and his innie developed a relationship with Helly (Britt Lower) that creates the pivotal dilemma at the end of Season 2.

Coming just hours after the show’s Season 2 finale shook fans, the “Severance” PaleyFest panel rocked the Dolby Theatre by unleashing a live marching band number — recreating a memorable moment from the episode.

Spring is a time for new beginnings, on TV as in life.
The weather shifts, the days grow longer, and fresh possibilities fill the air. A Hollywood satire starring A-listers? Shows with “mob” and “murder” in the title? What about a medical drama (another one)? A beloved romance? How about Jon Hamm and Ramy Youssef testing their voiceover talents — in narration and animation?
That’s what’s on deck for spring 2025. We say our final goodbyes (for now) to “Paradise” and “Severance” and “Yellowjackets,” wipe away our tears and lock back into our screens. As excited as IndieWire is for returning shows (the finales of “You” and “Andor” and more “The Last of Us” and “Poker Face” come to mind), we’re also thrilled to look ahead at the new titles and faces headed to streaming between now and June. From “Side Quest” and “Dying for Sex” to later entries...

This article contains spoilers for "Severance" season 2 episode 10, "Cold Harbor"
From innies and outies to characters who are entirely unsevered (as far as we know), you can count on nearly every "Severance" character to face untold existential hurdles that few mere mortals are equipped to comprehend, let alone handle. Unless a character is armed with the ironclad self-obsession of Ricken Hale (Michael Chernus) or the megalomaniac devotion of Jame Eagan (Michael Siberry), the world Lumon Industries created seems custom designed to grind a person down.
The company, on the other hand, is built to endure. Over two seasons of "Severance," nothing the protagonists have managed to do has really swayed Lumon in any significant way beyond tiny inconveniences, minor PR crises, and the occasional personnel change ... until now.
The "Severance" season 2 finale, titled "Cold Harbor," bucks the trend of Lumon invulnerability in a massive and potentially irreparable way. The episode...

Oh “Severance” Season 2. We hardly knew you and yet here we are, obsessing over every detail of the finale and trying to figure out what it might mean for the recently confirmed Season 3. Previously, creator Dan Erickson has discussed the possibility of a workers strike playing a part in the show’s future, but star Dichen Lachman thinks fans will have more pressing interpersonal concerns for their favorite characters.
Speaking in a recent interview in the Los Angeles Times, Lachman believed that after the finale sees Mark’s innie choose Helly R. over his outie’s wife, many viewers might hope the writers find a way to maintain a dynamic between all three (or four or five or 29 depending on your perception of how severance works).

“The Music Dance Experience [in Season 1] was so iconic, and I loved how people embraced that moment,” Tillman told TheWrap. “It has become meme-ed over and over and over again, it’s on T-shirts and whatnot. It’s beautiful. But there are some things that you can’t recreate.”
Tillman was adamant that he didn’t want to set up the expectation that Mr. Milchick dances every season. But when Stiller mentioned he was bringing in a marching band for the Season 2 finale, Tillman started to change his tune.
“I got excited. I sat up. I said, ‘Well, wait, what is this marching band? Is this a military-style marching band? Is this a band that’s a similar to those at HBCUs?...

The Severance Season 2 finale, “Cold Harbor,” answered a lot of burning questions fans had, including what Cold Harbor actually is and (sort of) what’s going on with those goats. Fans got other resolutions in prior episodes as well, including the answer to where Gemma (Dichen Lachman) has been all the time and why Harmony (Patricia Arquette) felt so slighted by Lumon firing her (and why Helena — Britt Lower — still offered her a job to placate her).
The ending was beautifully, emotionally presented, but left fans with yet another epic cliffhanger to digest for the next little while until a not-yet-confirmed Season 3 arrives (it’s likely the show will be renewed). There are plenty of questions that remain, but one big, new question has arrived that’s crucial to how the story will move forward.

Please try to enjoy the following major spoilers equally. This article discusses events from the season 2 finale of "Severance."
Phew, everyone take a breath. Three years ago, "Severance" season 1 built to an unforgettable cliffhanger that seemed to shake up the entire series moving forward. Season 2 has taken a rather more deliberate approach from week to week, taking time for huge detours such as the flashback-heavy episode 7 or the surprising (though somewhat less effective) origin story for a certain Ms. Harmony Cobel (Patricia Arquette). By the end, however, things ramped up at a precipitous pace and left us on an even bigger cliffhanger than before. While rescuing Gemma (Dichen Lachman) from the clutches of Lumon Industries, Mark S. (Adam Scott) makes an abrupt, last-minute decision that could have larger ramifications to come. Just when it seemed like the plan had gone off without a hitch, our favorite innie decides to leave...

Spoiler Alert: This story contains spoilers for Season 2, Episode 10 of “Severance,” streaming now on Apple TV+.
Tramell Tillman was done dancing.
After his “Severance” character, Mr. Milchick, conducted a memorable and oft-memed “Music Dance Experience” in the Apple TV+ show’s first season, he didn’t think it was possible to catch lightning in a bottle again.
But when director and executive producer Ben Stiller pitched him on a marching band sequence in the Season 2 finale, “Cold Harbor,” Tillman saw an opportunity to tap into his roots. “I went to two HBCUs, and one of them was Jackson State University. They housed the Sonic Boom of the South, one of the best marching bands in the country, and I would watch them during my undergrad years with such awe and amazement in the athleticism, the creativity and the passion that these musicians and dancers served with,” he tells Variety.

Warning: The Following Contains Spoilers for Severance Season 2, Episode 10, "Cold Harbor"The Season 2 finale of Severance brought its sophomore run to a close with a surprisingly bloody ending and some truly shocking twists that even Gemma's Apple TV+ show Outie, actress Dichen Lachman, found "heartbreaking." One of those moments came at the episode's close when Innie Mark S. (Adam Scott) had to decide whether to escape through the exit door with his Outie's wife Gemma after successfully rescuing her from the testing floor and navigating her to safety, or whether to run off into the proverbial sunset with Helly R. (Britt Lower), who he has formed an emotional bond with during office hours. After an agonizing wait, the episode ends with Mark and Helly galloping through the halls of Lumon Industries while Gemma is tragically left on the outside looking in.
