I have to admit that Ghosts ended up being a lot funnier than I expected. It's based off the UK version of the same name. I never saw the original UK version so I can't compare but this version sure is pretty funny. The entire cast is great and all have their time to shine. Everyone will have their personal favorites though and my favorites are Isaac, Thor and Hetty. Again, they're all funny though and have their moments. The only person on the show I don't find funny and kind of a bad actor is Utkarsh Ambudkar who plays Jay. He's definitely the weak link in the show. He has a few funny scenes here and there but I just don't think he's a good actor. The lead is Sam played by Rose McIver. She makes the entire show go. Listen, this isn't one of my favorite comedies I've ever seen but it's definitely worth the watch.

Look I really wanted to hate this show even though Rebecca Wisocky is in it an I think she is one of the best sitcom comedic ladies of all time. I dunno I kind of adore her so much. Also part of me wanted to support another Kiwi. I was really ready to hate it cos I love originals and I love the original series of this. But they actually take it and move into something else. I can't remember the name of the Jay character but honestly he plays it so well even I feel his pain and not being able to see the ghosts but also wanted to be a part of the fun .
Ok in summary. Wanted to hate it. Ended up kinda loving it. Its not a waste of time!

Ghosts is one of the funniest shows currently on tv. It's about Samantha, a freelance journalist, and Jay, a up and coming chef, who decide to leave the big city and put all their money in to buy a run down country estate and turn it into a bed and breakfast. While their Sam falls and hits her head, when she wakes up she can see ghosts. There are a bunch that live in their new house as they can't leave the property. Sam is the first living person that can see and hear them. What follows is a very funny show. Ghosts currently has a 97% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 8.0 here so you can see it's loved by both the audience and critics. If you're looking for a new show to just have fun watching then Ghosts is the show for you.
I don't usually leave reviews, but Ghosts (US) absolutely deserves one. I'm completely in love with it! It's such an easy, feel-good watch-short episodes, great dialogue, and just pure fun. There's no heavy drama or big bad guy, just a charming mix of humor, heart, and hilarious ghost stories that somehow manage to make me smile, laugh, and even tear up at times.
The characters are fantastic, and the way the ghosts' backstories unfold is both clever and funny. It's the kind of show that makes you feel good just by watching it, and I'm totally here for it. I haven't seen the UK version yet, but I plan to-people say it's great! Until then, I'll just keep enjoying this little gem.

Its hilarious. Great stories, historical fun facts & funny characters overcoming their past trauma. The constant Hamilton slander is hilarious. Jay is such a mench, he just goes with the flow. #couple#goals While it may be about ghosts, the stories are very human. Charming TV. Good watch, recommend.
IZombie is good too! Great from start to finish. Great to see Rose McIver back on TV. Great ensemble cast. Thought provoking, funny, stupid, and kind. Once the ghosts are able to engage with the real world they can start to process the historical trauma that has held them back in the afterlife. With a little ghost busters thrown in.

Originally I was all about the BBC version and against how Americanized this version became. Yet, I find that the story lines and fun and games is just like watching lego masters uk/us/aus there are so many story Arcs to be told. I am now a fan of this. It was fun to watch the similarities but seperating it, biggup to the husband for perfect portrayal of not knowing whats going on but knowing whats good.
This show is about a couple that inherits a haunted estate. The woman has a head injury which leads to her being able to see and communicate with the ghosts. We follow the couple and the ghosts and how they go about their daily "lives". The show is really charming, funny and very warm. Watching it just makes me happy. I love the different characters and their stories and the actors play their parts perfectly. Set in a Downton abbey kind of environment adds to the cosy feeling. This show is so loveable that I forgive the sometimes silly jokes. Every episode is like praline in a chocolate box. Love it!
I find the show just offbeat enough for me. Its funny. It teaches life's lessons in a playful way. There is a large cast which they need to work with . I hope to see characters backgrounds that I have yet to see in the second season.
There is so much to explore and expand on on. Im still wondering about the ghost boundary among other things.
They seem to get themselves into a pickle but by the end they work themselves out somehow. I like it..
There is a lot of room left for them to highlight a lot of stuff. I look forward to learning more about them as I watch. Like how did the indian die? How many ghost are there in the basement anyways? What are all this powers? We still dont know many of these thing by the beginning of season 2.
And thats where I am....season 2.

I laughed out loud on many occasions at the original British version, which is wilder on many subjects, but i admit that this one is quite good.
It started like a poor Copy-Paste with no soul of its own, watchable for those who didn't know better. Even so, it was nice. Watch the original "about last night" SO2 Ep 2 if you need to watch one? WATCH THIS ONE !
It took a different direction somewhere with American characters as ghosts and an Indian rooted chef who is a benevolent husband, right away. That's the spirit of this comedy
I will always cherish the original, may even clock a 9/10 on that one. But the adaptation is nice enough. It's way better than "the office" for morale. Kindof eclipsed by Severance (Sci-fi). There is that.
As ghosts go it's as Walt Disney as can be, with a few quirks. They want to be "sucked off" to heaven. Finish some unfinished business.

I really enjoy watching this tv show. Rose McIver, who plays Sam, delivers an outstanding performance. In one unforgettable episode, when the ghost of Nancy enters her body, McIver's portrayal of Nancy is so believable, it's a testament to her incredible acting skills!!!!! I laugh a lot watching that episode. The show masterfully combines the quirks of its ensemble cast of ghosts from different eras with witty writing and touching moments. Each ghost's backstory adds depth, and the dynamics between Sam, Jay, and their spectral housemates create endless humor and charm. A must-watch for comedy fans!

If I had never watched the brilliant, hilarious, charming British TV series Ghosts I probably would watch a few more episodes of this American version. It's cute, it's somewhat funny, it's an interesting premise.
But it is also inferior in every way to the original. The living couple protagonists are so much more charming, the jokes are so much funnier, the pacing is so much sharper.
The ghosts are a mix of copies the English originals (pantless politician, arrow-through-the-neck scout leader) and ghosts unique to this version (hippy chick, flapper) and I feel they might have been better off taking the idea but creating all original ghosts, simply to make it less like a pale shadow of the original.
No reason not to watch this, but definitely check out the British version. It's amazing.

Samantha inherits a fabulous old mansion house, when she suffers an accident in her new place, she comes round and can see faces from the past, The Ghosts.
Now, to address the elephant in the room, I am crazy about the original, it is a favourite show, and I came to this with a degree of scepticism, however, having raced my way through the series, my opinions are pretty much all favourable.
I was expecting direct reworkings of The British episodes, and one or two have that element, but largely each story is original, and wonderfully done.
Some ghosts are direct replacements, others are very much original, Flower for example, she's pretty unique.
Favourite ghost for me, has to be Thorfinn, and it seems the producers loved him too, he gets his fair share of big storylines, Devan Chandler Long is just wonderful.
You could very easily race through the whole series, it is that watchable, highlights for me included Thor's funeral, Trevor's trousers and Alberta's fan, but trust me it is loaded with gems.
Go in with an open mind, give it a chance, you may just be surprised, I'm not often impressed with remakes, reinterpretations, whatever you call them, but this one works on most levels.
8/10.

I watched the UK version and liked it..I started watching the US version and didn't think I would like it. At first I didn't give the pilot a very high score. I came back and started it again and fell in love with it...As I got to know all of the ghosts and felt this was a charming series. I laugh at most of the episodes and binged on all of the episodes so far. I found no it's not the British one but It is just as good and I found in a lot of the episodes I liked better. So this Americanized version is very good in it's own right.

Listen I'm neither British nor American, so I'm unbiased here.
I watched this show without even knowing there was a British version which I'm sure must be awesome. But this American version is simply genius!!
Extremely funny, good costumes, clever script, and with very talented actors. I just can't stop watching, it has been a while since I found a show that made me laugh this hard!
P. S. All the other bitter reviewers could be a bit more thoughtful about all the jobs put at risk for their spiteful unfounded comments. You should be reviewing the show based on what you saw, not based on the comparison with another show. Shame on you!

I love this show it's absolutely awesome. I know there's a BBC version that came first but this one is really fun and it's different and there's no cops and robbers and thieves or anything like that ... it's just fun. Really needed a serieslike this. I hope it lasts many more seasons. The characters are fun there's great chemistry between the entire cast and especially between the wife and the husband.

I don't like Samantha and Jay, the acting is not completely there. The ghosts are good and sometimes I think it is just as good as the good place. But then some cliche simple storything comes by and I think: nope. But I keep on watching, I like this.
Having multiple ghosts from different times is already comedy and storytelling gold. It is almost impossible to get this wrong. So I feel there is sitll room left to get it this to a higher level.
I am hoping Samantha and Jay will be less one dimensional. Maybe I must wait till season 2? I am at episode 14, so soon I will be there I think ;).
I read here on imdb it is not an original show, so hopefully I can watch the original also.

If you're looking for a show that's equal parts heartwarming and hilarious, Ghosts is a must-watch. This series blends comedy, supernatural intrigue, and surprisingly touching moments to create something truly special.
The premise is refreshingly unique: a young couple moves into a crumbling estate, only to discover it's inhabited by a quirky group of ghosts from different eras. Each ghost has their own distinct personality and backstory, which leads to endless comedic situations and heartfelt revelations.
What I love most about Ghosts is its brilliant writing and ensemble cast. The chemistry between the living and the dead is perfect, and the humor strikes a balance between witty, silly, and sometimes downright absurd. But beneath the laughs, there's a surprising emotional core that explores themes of love, loss, and connection.
The show's ability to make you laugh out loud one moment and tear up the next is what keeps me coming back for more. It's lighthearted without being shallow, and the characters feel like old friends after just a few episodes.
I'd rate Ghosts a glowing 10/10. It's a rare gem that appeals to fans of comedy, supernatural stories, and heartfelt drama alike. Whether you're binging it alone or with family, it's a hauntingly good time that you won't want to miss.

Okay, okay, everyone knows this series was based on an earlier British version. But did you know that criticizing this eclectic cast of ghosts could lead one self to being haunted for the rest of your petty lives?
The first episode reminded me of a stage play but then Mrs. Shullivan and I continued watching episodes 2 and 3 and as the cast of ghosts became more familiar to us, it grew on us and we are starting to enjoy the storylines. In some regards it also reminded us of the much earlier (1968-1970) TV series The Ghost and Mrs. Muir.
The two stars are a young married couple Samantha (Rose McIver) who inherited the haunted castle and her husband Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar) and decide to renovate it and try and turn it into a bed and breakfast. The ghosts who have inhabited the castle for centuries are not too thrilled with their home being turned into a Bed and Breakfast but a compromise is achieved.
Samantha has acquired the ability to see and speak to her castle full of ghosts as well as a basement filled with zombies and her husband Jay has no choice but to believe Samantha's ability to speak to the dead as she proves through her actions that only a ghost could have known.
I say to the naysayers, give it time, and maybe, just maybe the ghosts will not haunt your dreams. It is an eclectic cast of characters, funny, innovative and quirky. They will grow on you just as they have on Mrs. Shullivan and I after only the first three (3) episodes.

I saw the British version of Ghosts first and thought I would hate this. Some characters are nearly exactly the same but some are original and match American history. The stories are original, fun and have a great story line. Yes there is a degree of copy paste but not to the point where it becomes annoying, strangely enough it makes it even better. Like the UK version there is a ghost without pants, a guy with an arrow through his neck, a posh Victorian lady and some sort of barbarian and Sam's interaction with the ghosts is similar but there are very new characters that just make this US version like a brand new show. Love it.

Ok this is a direct (with permission) copy of UK ghosts, but like The Office, translates well (mostly) to the US. It's not ground breaking or falling of the lounge funny, but it is thoroughly enjoyable and easy to binge. The short 30 minute format works well and it feels a lot like a 1980's situational comedy, even having characters have set llcatchprases. Hell it even gives homage to those comedies by referencing New Heart.
I am hooked, most of the characters are fun to watch, with their period idiosyncrasies and the nice easily resolved plot lines keep it going.
The comedy is enjoyable, strangely relatable and inoffensive.
Thor and Sas are the two chatacters that work least well for me. With Sas the issue is he is from 16th c Nat8ve American but speaks modern whereas the other characters speak in a way we would recognise for their time periods. I get hard to know how a 16th Native American would speak without risk of being offensive, but it jars with the other characters. Thor's problem is his limited repertoire of catch phrases (again very 80's comedy). They aren't terrible but they aren't as engaging, to me, as thevothers. Though the episode of them watching a rediculous modern reality romance show was a lot of fun. They aren't bad characters, I just think the writers don't know what to do with them.
But that's minor issue. This show is a lot fun, easy to watch, bitesize comedy. In a crazy real world, it's a great distraction. Give it a go.

I have watched the UK version of this show it started. However this show is not funny just like the ghost are week interpretations of the UK show. This.even the house is down market of the one in the UK show. Why couldn't the UK show just been been exported to N. American and not have this bad imitation of the original show!

I have watched the entire British show in the past, and greatly enjoyed it. I thought this would just be a US rehash, and the first couple of episodes looked that way - similar environment, similar characters. I persevered, and it developed differently to the original. Character development of the ghosts is happening differently, and there are even some different characters altogether.
I have only seen the first season so far, so I'm hoping that things continue to grow and improve, and diverge from the original British version. Apparently season 4 is happening, so I look forward to getting that far.
I'm still trying to adjust to the American accents though!

Ghosts is an ensemble company adapted from a British original version. I haven't seen that version. I do enjoy the North American version though. A young couple inherit an estate in upstate New York. They plan to turn it into a bed and breakfast. The ghosts appear only to the wife after an accident. The ghosts come from different periods in American history, the cast is great and the writing is sharp. It's a well done show.
The ghosts all have different stories about how they ended up dead and earthbound. I love Issac and Hetty. They have great chemistry. There is a Native American male, a Viking, a hippy female, a Boy Scout leader with an arrow in his neck, an early jazz singer and a Wall Street guy, Trevor, with pants and underwear. These are the core ghosts in the cast. There are ghosts downstairs who died from cholera.
I enjoy a good comedy and there is plenty of it here, The writers come up with creative storylines that work for the cast.

I just binge watched the first season and I must say I love it!
It's sweet and funny and interesting. Very entertaining!
I love the story and the fact that the ghosts are from different periods of times makes it even funnier.
The cast is doing a great job!
Can't wait for a second season!!
Give it a chance, don't listen to the bad reviews! Highly HIGHLY recommended!!
Thumbs up!
Season two is as great as the first one! This show always puts a smile on my face! Love it!!!
