Exclusive: Heading into the weekend, Disney’s Snow White was being called “Snow Woke” in vitriolic online circles, which begs the question how the movie fared at the box office in the Trumpier areas of a country divided into blue and red states.
The Rachel Zegler-Gal Gadot live action take of the 1937 Disney animated classic bombed at the domestic B.O. with a $43M opening off a $270M production cost (before P&a).
Here’s what we can tell you. Snow White, per box office analytics corp EntTelligence, minted 60% of her ticket sales and drew 56.5% of her total attendance (3.1M admissions) in theaters located in Blue counties.
Now, these figures come with an asterisk. It stands to reason that Snow White‘s business would be driven by Blue counties simply because the majority of theaters in the U.S. reside in such zones at 53% (as determined by the 2024 Presidential...

“F*ck Donald Trump” may not be the message the Walt Disney Company wants its Snow White star putting out there right now.
But that’s what they’ve got, even as Rachel Zegler tries to walk it back.
In now deleted posts on Instagram, Zegler slammed the former and future president for his November 5 election win over Kamala Harris as “a deep sickness in this country.” The alum of Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story, who is currently on Broadway in Romeo + Juliet, went on to lament “the sheer amount of people who showed up for this man who threatens our democracy.”
“It is terrifying the number of people who stand behind what this man preaches,” Zegler added in what seems to be posts made during the performance of the Shakespeare play in New York late last week. “It is a foolish subscription to a false sense of security,...

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 frustrated nearly its entire community with the release of the 4.0 Patch that managed to make even the easiest game mode much harder, but Saber Interactive has listened to users' feedback. After observing an unusually high success rate on even the most challenging settings, the developer attempted to rebalance the scales with an update that significantly increased the spawn rate of enemies in Operations, resulting in more frustration than anything else. Fortunately, players looking to once again enjoy feeling like a burly Space Marine can now do so without constantly being in danger.
Posting to Steam, Saber Interactive explained that it missed the mark with the Space Marine 2 balance update, noting that the 4.1 Patch, which goes live on October 24, reduces the spawn rate of Extremis enemies on Minimal, Average, and Substantial difficulties. Moreover, those who choose to play on Ruthless will also encounter far fewer Extremis enemies.

Dermot Mulroney is a mysterious figure whose darkness may extend well beyond the surface in Depravity. Having first found acclaim in such smaller dramatic fare as Long Gone and The Thing Called Love, Mulroney would become well-known for his work as the love interest in a number of iconic titles, including My Best Friend's Wedding and New Girl, while also co-starring in the likes of About Schmidt and The Family Stone. More recently, Mulroney has found success with the likes of Scream VI, Anyone but You and Marvel's Secret Invasion.
In Depravity, Mulroney stars as Mr. Evers, a peculiar tenet of an old-fashioned apartment building. Watched closely by his neighbors, Grace and Aria, Mr. Evers is generally seen coming and going at odd times of the night with his Rottweiler in tow, while also having a group of bizarre visitors in and out of his apartment. It’s September 2024, and Beyond the Gates is becoming increasingly real. The title transitioned from The Gates to Beyond the Gates. Three members of the cast were announced, two of whom Soap Hub placed on its Dream Casting Wish List for the first new soap created in 25 years. And Karla Mosley — who will play Dani Dupree on the one-hour CBS soap — posted from Atlanta and is excited about being a part of this journey.
Excitement is Building
CBS originally announced its plans to create the first soap opera in 25 years back in April. And there’s more news to come as the highly anticipated production builds up steam to its premiere in early 2025.
The Dream Casting List: The Actors
If you recall, we already dream-cast a list of the female actors we’d love to see when populating the residents of Btg. Many great male actors are out there whose impact would instantly be felt.

Created by Tyler Perry of the Madea movie franchise, Ruthless is a spinoff of another Perry series, The Oval. Ruthless is a much more harrowing tale, following the cult known as the Rakudushi. In the beginning of the series, Ruth Truesdale (Melissa L. Williams), an ardent follower, kidnaps her own daughter for the Rakudushi. However, after suffering a ritual sexual assault, Ruth makes plans to leave the cult with anyone else she can convince.
The series first premiered in May 2020, and there have been four more seasons since. Each season of Ruthless is broken up into two parts, with some parts coming months after the first part. Season 5 part 1 premiered in August 2024 with eight episodes and now season 5 part 2 is expected to tie up all the loose strands of the show.

The Deb had the honor of being the closing film at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival, and Rebel Wilson's directorial debut left quite an impression. The Australian star, whose film is based on the stage play by Hannah Reilly, leans into her comic roots by bringing to the festival a cheeky, outrageous musical about two teens who come together to participate in a small town's annual debutante ball. The Deb's timing feels fortuitous; it feels like a natural companion to the Mean Girls musical released earlier this year.

The Tyler Perry series, Ruthless, includes a cast of talented actors, some of whom have been in Perry productions before and others new to the universe. Tyler Perry, creator of the Madea franchise of movies as well as many more TV shows and films, created Ruthless as a spinoff of The Oval, a BET political drama about the U.S. President and his family. Ruthless takes a much darker turn, starring Melissa Williams as Ruth Truesdale, a member of the dangerous and sexually exploitative Rakudushi cult.
When Ruth's daughter is also brought into the cult, Ruth comes to realize how awful it is and plans her escape. Premiering in March 2020, Ruthless has been on for five seasons and the show once again proves that Tyler Perry doesn't need Madea to create a watchable program. Tyler Perry and BET are continuing their fruitful business relationship.
The cable outlet and Perry have signed a new, multi-year content partnership that will have Perry create and produce hundreds more hours of programming for BET and its streaming service, BET+. The deal, which runs through 2028, extends and builds on a relationship that dates back to 2017, when Perry entered into a similar partnership with the conglomerate then known as Viacom (now Paramount Global).
Perry also expressed interest in buying a majority stake in BET when Paramount considered spinning it off last year. The company ultimately decided not to go forward with a sale, and Perry expressed disappointment with the bidding process.
That did not, however, prevent Perry and BET from continuing their partnership. The new deal includes renewals for BET series Sistas, The Oval, Assisted Living and House of Payne and BET+ shows Zatima, Ruthless, All the Queen’s Men and Bruh.

Five years ago, a serial killer terrorized Chicago. Detective Dan Lawson was assigned to the case but couldn’t bring the killer to justice. Five years ago, a serial killer terrorized Chicago. Detective Dan Lawson was assigned to the case but couldn’t bring the killer to justice. It left him a badly damaged man, drinking on the job and obsessed with revenge. The highly anticipated Avatar: The Last Airbender has been released today. The series follows the story of Aang, a 12-year-old Avatar, capable of mastering all four elements. He must defeat the Fire Nation to end a century-long war.
Avatar: The Last Airbender – Aang (Gordon Cormier), Katara (Kiawentiio) and Sokka (Ian Ousley)
Surprisingly, the live-action adaptation is receiving negative reviews. Its failure is due to a screenplay that was poorly done. They tried to fit too much into a short time, draining the life out of the story.
But before the show was reviewed by ruthless reviews, the original creators of the animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender lost respect for it due to a very straightforward reason.

Tyler Perry is expanding his deal with Netflix, adding TV series to the mix. Netflix announced Monday that it had added a multi-year, first-look series pact with Perry to the previous feature film pact he sealed in October with the streamer.
As part of the expanded relationship with Netflix, Perry is developing the 16-episode hour-long drama “Beauty in Black,” which he will write, direct and executive produce. According to Netflix, “‘Beauty in Black’ follows two women leading very different lives. While Kimmie is struggling to make a living after her mother kicked her out and Mallory is running a successful business, they find themselves entangled in each other’s lives.”
Angi Bones and Tony Strickland will also produce “Beauty in Black” for Tyler Perry Studios.

Tyler Perry is adding to his collection of first-look deals.
Perry has struck a first-look series deal with Netflix, adding to his pact with the streamer on movies.
As part of the new arrangement, the streamer has ordered drama series Beauty In Black, the first greenlight under the deal.
This comes on top of Perry’s BET deal for TV, which we understand is ongoing with more than 10 series at the company. In 2017, Perry struck a large, long-term pact with the company then known as Viacom.

When Tyler Perry and BET partnered in 2019 to create content for both the cable network and its new streaming service, BET+, they had a clear goal: Cooperation, rather than competition. BET CEO Scott Mills compares BET’s relationship with the “Madea” creator to how Pixar changed the animation game for Disney.
“If BET, by analogy, is to Black viewers what Disney is to families, then when Tyler Perry came up on the scene, it was similar to when Pixar came onto the scene,” Mills said. “Disney had an animation business that was just shocked by the extraordinary success of Pixar. Disney ultimately had this great vision that as opposed to competing with Pixar, they should bring Pixar onto their side.”
Instead of dividing and conquering, they would join forces to build and expand together. And according to Nielsen’s ratings among Black viewers, that has been a recipe for success.

There’ll be some happy holidays on Prime Video in December, as the streamer’s seasonal offerings hope to keep the fires warm in your home this month!
As such, there are quite a few new original holiday movies coming to the service. At the beginning of the month, Eddie Murphy stars in Candy Cane Lane. In this film, the Beverly Hills Cop and Coming to America star plays a determined man who is willing to go above and beyond to win the annual Christmas home decoration contest in his neighborhood – even if it means making a very magical deal.
The DC universe will also be getting festive in December thanks to Merry Little Batman, an animated feature that sees Batman’s son, Damian Wayne, stumble upon a villainous plot on Christmas eve, one that may give him a chance to save the day when his dad isn’t around.

Tyler Perry has become a household name for many, best known for writing multiple hit movies, such as Diary of a Mad Black Woman, Madea’s Family Reunion, and Madea Goes to Jail. He also wrote and created many successful television series, including Ruthless, Sistas, and All the Queen’s Men. There’s no doubt that Perry’s creative mind is the driving force behind the multitude of his successful movies and shows. In addition to his obvious skills as a writer, he also has a wide range as an actor. Best known as a comedian for his portrayal of the titular character in his Madea movies, he can also switch hats and take on more dramatic roles as he did in Gone Girl, Vice, and the dark comedy, Don’t Look Up. Dermot Mulroney – action hero? Could happen.
I ran a piece not long ago asking where the new action heroes are. Some of our legends, like Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Liam Neeson, are well into their seventies and slowing down. An odd quirk of modern action fans is that they tend to prefer their heroes on the older side. Think of the biggest action stars out there. Are there any under fifty? With Tom Cruise and Keanu Reeves busy in A-list action, there’s a lot of room in the second-tier category, and now Dermot Mulroney, a rom-com perennial from the nineties, is dipping his toe into the genre with his new film, Ruthless.
In the new trailer, which Saban just put out, Mulroney plays a high school coach with a specific “set of skills” and a bad temper. When one of his favourite students gets abused by her dad,...

"Pick your fights, Harry!" "I will." Saban Films has revealed an official trailer for Ruthless, another action crime thriller from the direct-to-video trash pile getting a release this year. Ruthless is the latest film from director Art Camacho, and it's yet another of these "one man will fight to stop a trafficking ring" stories that are being used over-and-over these days. Not at all original, and not really an interesting premise anymore beyond making people endlessly fearful and worried. Also similar to the original Taken. In Ruthless, a high school coach, whose teenage daughter was murdered, takes matters into his own hands and going after the men who kidnap his student as part of a human trafficking operation. Dermot Mulroney stars as Harry, along with Jeff Fahey, Melissa Diaz, Mauricio Mendoza, Tonantzin Esparza, and Niko Foster. I will admit, Mulroney does look badass in this being so burn-it-all-down ruthless in here.

Mulroney, best known for starring in the iconic Julia Roberts movie My Best Friend’s Wedding, will be taking up a more violent role in this project for what is a just cause. Mulroney plays a high school wrestling coach, Harry, who is left mourning the death of his daughter, who was murdered under mysterious circumstances.

The buzz around Amazon Prime Video's "Swarm" was nearly impossible to escape when the Donald Glover and Janine Nabers-created series premiered on March 17. If viewers weren't talking about Dominique Fishback's spirited performance as serial killer stan Dre or Chlöe's viral sex scene, they were definitely captivated by all those undeniable Beyoncé references - and trust, there were many.
"Of course, it had the fun parallels of certain things where you're like, 'Is this not who we think it is?'"
"Swarm" follows Fishback's Dre on a cross-country quest to meet her favorite obsession singer of all time, a mega-pop star named Ni'Jah who bears an awful close resemblance to Queen Bey. Viewers were definitely convinced that "Swarm" purposely alluded to Beyoncé and any reference to her life, aesthetic, and real-life scandals for shock factor. Almost every episode of "Swarm" was even prefaced with a disclaimer: "This is not a work of fiction.

Puns grow knee-high – and in bawdier moments a bit higher – in Shucked, the new musical comedy that combines the winking hayseed humor of Green Acres and Hee Haw with the decidedly urban, gently subversive camp that peppered the Off Broadway scene in the ’90s with kitschy fare like Ruthless!, The Real Live Brady Bunch and Theatre-a-Go!-Go!’s Valley of the Dolls parody.
The musical comes by its unlikely spiritual DNA honestly, or however it can, through the combined and disparate talents of book writer Robert Horn and composers Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally.
Consider that pedigree for a moment: Horn won a Tony for 2019’s Tootsie, and has written for Dame Edna, Designing Women, Bette Midler and RuPaul. Clark and McAnally have stacked up a big barnful of CMA Awards, Grammys and country music hits. Together this trio is a match made in some bizarro Broadway cornfield of dreams,...
