Hey America! American Idol There For a Reason You Don't Suspect

Since 99 percent of America does not know what goes on further north of them; just letting you know that Melissa O'Neil who plays Officer Lucy Chen was the Season 3 winner of Canadian Idol when she was 17 years old.

So it is an inside joke. I guess it is on you. Lots of videos online.

Best of the Recent Episodes

I didn't love the last 4 episodes, but this was a nice change. I really, really liked this one. Every character had a pretty interesting storyline which hasn't been the case recently.

Best parts of the episode?

  • Wesley. I love that relationship so much, so having such a big moment in this episode definitely brought it up for me. His face when he got down on one knee was so earnest. I also really like that Jackson was the one who figured it out and I loved seeing how Angela reacted to realising that he was right.

  • The Donavon-Harper-Nolan-Grace dinner was so awkward. I loved it. I really like Donavon in general (probably because I like the characters this actor has played in other shows) so it was nice to have him in this episode.

  • The blood donating scene. I loved every moment of it, especially Grey almost fainting.

Worst part of the episode?

  • They made Chen seem... stupid? I hated that they made that choice.

Writing creativity and originality: 💯

What an all-around amazing episode! It was moving, hilarious, suspenseful, creative and refreshingly original! Great to see some star cameos. Original and supporting cast are growing on me more and more each episode. Writers, you never cease to amaze me, thank you! 🙌

During the Night

Harper tells Nolan that she will spend the night with her daughter Lila in the house of her ex-husband Donovan since the girl claims to have seen a ghost on the street and invites him to go with her to be her "shield". Nolan tells that will have dinner with Grace and Haper says it is OK. Out of the blue, Nolan and Grace arrive bringing dinner for all of them. When Grace leaves the house, Harper and Nolan learns the truth about the ghost. Meanwhile Chen is lured by an ambitious journalist and summons Tim to help her in a scheme of prostitution and theft.

"The Overnight" is an entertaining episode of "The Rookie". The wonderful voice of Melissa O'Neil is a plus in the silly beginning in the American IdoL Eric Winter (Tim Bradford) and Roselyn Sanchez, the snoopy journalist Valerie Castillo, are married with children in the real life. My vote is eight.

Title (Brazil): "O Pernoite" ("The Overnight Stay")

Superb balance!

This episode had some of the best-balanced narrative that I have ever seen in a series. Usually an episode can go with one tone, yet this time a lot was crammed into one episode, from personal drama to kidnapping. One would think that the plot would become convoluted and confusing, yet this wasn't the case, and all unfolded seamlessly. You could laugh on the witty jokes, or cry on the multiple touching moments. It really was a roller-coaster, and provided just the right entertainment that one expects from a series. Great job!

One of the better episodes

Despite the ridiculous American Idol crossover, this episode is one of the best of season two so far. There's nice twists and turns here, especially in the Nolan storyline.

Not up to par

I also think the character development has gotten everyone beyond these conversations.

American Idol "by accident"? No.

I especially disagree with giving Lila a set of headphones at the dinner table. Had they engaged her with the adults, her parents most likely would not have engaged in a fight over dating. All this to say I'm not a fan of the new TO Harper, her UC background, her attitude, or the storyline of her husband.

And why making it so difficult for Nolan and Grace to have a date? All-in-all this episode is weak. It was redeemed with Wesley and Angela. I hope we can get back to the police work.

SHARK ALERT!!!

And I thought the episode "Fallout" jumped the shark! American Idol? Seriously?! At this point I am genuinely concerned about the well-being of the writing staff, because Great White Sharks are nothing to scoff at -- especially when they are jumping over one on a motorcycle, as the writing staff are wont to do. Also, the "venomous" snake is of the classification "CGI Amateurius"; okay, it's actually a non-venomous King Snake (remember: "Red next to black is a friend of Jack; red next to yellow will kill a fellow"), but the CGI was so bad I had to double-check that I wasn't watching "SnakeNado 3: Killing Spree" on cable. Make no mistake: I want this series to survive at least another season, but I want it to be better.

Crisis of continuity

I was hoping this would be a bright light in this Covid19 time. However, the worse episode of the rookie so far. The characters all regressed. All the developments and progress went out the window like this was an earlier episode airing out of order. The final wrap up tried to save the episode but it couldn't find it's way home.
