The Princess Diaries 3 has found its director. The upcoming Princess Diaries 3 is a long-awaited follow-up to the movie franchise starring Anne Hathaway and Julie Andrews which adapted the Meg Cabot young adult novel series of the same name into a pair of features in 2001 and 2004. The sequel was announced in 2022 with Supergirl writer Aadrita Mukerji attached, though it is not clear if that is still the case. It has also not been officially announced if Hathaway will be reprising her original role, though original producer Debra Martin Chase is on board for the project.
Per Deadline, The Princess Diaries 3 has found its director in Joy Ride's Adele Lim. Lim has previously collaborated with Disney, the company producing the new sequel, when she wrote the screenplay for their 2021 animated feature Raya and the Last Dragon. Lim's partner Naia Cucukov is also on board as an executive producer alongside Melissa Stack.

Santiago Cabrera played Captain Cristóbal Rios in the first two seasons of Star Trek: Picard. Since Picard's second season, Cabrera has appeared in various projects such as Godmothered, The Flight Attendant, and Undone, and participated in the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strikes. Captain Rios is unlikely to return to Star Trek due to his decision to stay in the past and live out his days with Dr. Ramirez and her son.

The steady drumbeat of Disney+'s competitive spirit with the de facto streaming giant, Netflix, continues to grow. But while Disney still has a bit of work to do to challenge Netflix on the front of original storytelling, they might already possess an advantage when it comes to Christmas movies, specials, and episodes of The Simpsons.
In fact, the wide catalog of Christmas films on Disney+ might seem daunting and overwhelming at first glance. For users who might be stuck and uncertain of what they should watch, it's quite easy to refer to the signs of the Zodiac instead.

Disney is known for its successful themed holiday movies; the same can be said for Christmas. Whether it's a cartoon showing the holiday hopes of Mickey and Minnie Mouse or a mega motion picture starring Tim Allen dressed as Santa Claus, Disney's Christmas movies vary in subject and design.
Disney has added a more modern take to Christmas movies over the years. However, the theme of family, holiday magic, and love always comes through — it's what makes these movies fan-favorites to rewatch every holiday season. Thankfully, those with Disney+ subscriptions can stream these movies and watch them as many times as they want this holiday season.

The upcoming Walking Dead spin-off Tales of the Walking Dead is an anthology series, which means that each of the first season’s six episodes will center on different characters that may or may not make appearances in other episodes throughout the season. Because each episode is primarily a self-contained story, actors who may not have the time to commit to a full season arc are able to join this universe. This means that Tales of the Walking Dead has a stacked cast with many familiar faces – some are newcomers to the franchise and others are Walking Dead alums.

The movie is the first greenlit project for Artists Road, the comedy film joint venture that was formed in October by Spyglass Media Group, Propagate Content, Artists First and Off-Road Productions. The pic puts a darkly humorous spin on the classic whodunnit. It centers on a murder that takes place during a snowstorm at a high school reunion party, which leaves guests trapped in an isolated mansion trying to piece together clues.
Chris Nelson (“The Perfect Date”) is directing the movie from a screenplay by the “The Edge of Sleep” writing duo, Jake Emanuel and Willie Block.
Howery and Bell previously appeared together in “Brittany Runs a Marathon,” the acclaimed 2019 Amazon comedy. Bell’s credits also include “Rough Night,” “Cowboys,” and “Godmothered,” while Howery has appeared in the likes of “Get Out,” “Tag” and the upcoming “Free Guy.

In what is the first official glimpse of the pandemic’s impact on U.K. film and television production, British Film Institute (BFI) data reveals that film and high-end television production spend exceeded £2.84 billion ($3.9 billion) in 2020, only 21% down on 2019 levels.
BFI boss Ben Roberts tells Variety that the speed with which the industry was able to band together and hammer out guidelines for production allowed the sector to weather the toll of the pandemic, particularly as it allowed the buoyant studio sector to quickly rev up operations. Film and television production has continued through the U.K.’s three national lockdowns, working to pan-industry guidelines that were drawn up in late spring. The BFI led the Screen Sector Taskforce, creating the guidance for Covid-safe productions alongside a host of industry players, including the British Film Commission and producers’ trade org Pact.

Hollywood star Isla Fisher said she is always nervous on the first day of her work for any project.
Asked how she would describe her first day on a set, Isla Fisher replied, "It's always really nerve racking for me.
"I always feel like 'oh, no, everyone's going to realise that I'm miscast'. I sometimes show up with an idea of how and then (think) it will get thrown out the window. It's like being new at school. You just want to do a really good job and you try your best to do that," added Fisher.
On the work front, she currently stars in Disney's fantasy comedy "Godmothered", a film that tries giving a spin to several fairytale cliches. She is seen as a single mother whose life takes an unexpected turn with the entry of a young and fairly inexperienced fairy godmother played by Jillian Bell.

Disney+ has a new major release for families just as 2020 is wrapping up: “Soul,” the first Black-led Pixar film, was supposed to hit theaters in June 2020 but instead is out December 25 on Disney+ — no premium access required.
While “Mulan” required an additional $30 purchase for “Disney+ Premier Access,” which gave users who bought the film unlimited access to the live-action remake for as long as they subscribe to the service, “Soul” is being released on the regular tier that all users pay for, like other 2020 films including “Godmothered,” “Black Beauty,” the Taylor Swift documentary “Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions,” “The Mandalorian,” and the upcoming Marvel shows.

It turns out love will only get you so far in the edit bay, as Isla Fisher says husband Sacha Baron Cohen cut her favorite joke from his “Borat: Subsequent Moviefilm,” even though she begged him not to. Actually, she threatened him not to.
“I like to be involved. I watch all the cuts of the movie… I mean, I’m sure my husband will tell you I get too opinionated,” Fisher said on Wednesday’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” “There was actually a joke in this one, in this latest ‘Borat’ one, in the debutante ball scene that I just found so funny, it’s my favorite joke, I was so attached to it. And it was in the foreign cut and it was in all the cuts and then finally when it comes to the last minute in the edit — he takes it out! And I was like, ‘Babe,...

Cinemas — the ones that are open — are hurting for new content. With only one wide release this week — that would be Focus Features’ “Half Brothers” opening on approximately 1,200 screens — film fans will likely be staying home and sifting through new releases via streaming instead.
For example, audiences have their choice between Disney fairy-tale sendup “Godmothered” and Francis Ford Coppola’s re-edit of “The Godfather Part III.” The former (which stars Isla Fisher and Jillian Bell) is available to Disney Plus subscribers, while the latter is getting a very limited theatrical run.
Who knows how audiences will react to a story about a romance cut short by medical tragedy in the era of Covid-19, but Universal serves up a well-made version of just that kind of love story with “All My Life,” featuring Jessica Rothe and Harry Shum Jr.

In the new film Godmothered, Jillian Bell plays a fairy godmother who tries to help a woman (Isla Fisher) find the “happily ever after” she’s cynically given up on after so many years. As a Disney movie, it’s a pretty sure bet there will be a happy ending. But what about in real life? Do [...]

Once in a blue moon, a super sugary sweet movie comes along from Disney that screams the Mouse House.
In 2007, that movie was Enchanted with Amy Adams.
This year, it’s Godmothered with Jillian Bell and Isla Fisher, debuting on Disney+ for the whole world to bask in its joy.
Bell stars as Eleanor, who seems to be the only Fairy Godmother left in her community who believes they shouldn’t be demoted to the Tooth Fairy.
She still dresses in beautiful pink and carries her wand like an Englishman carrying tea. Eleanor has faith. Yet Moira (Jane Curtin) sees the writing on the wall.
The world in 2020 doesn’t need Godmothers, and her training facility is simply wasting its time and must close soon.
Refusing to believe that, Eleanor finds a Godmother wish from Mackenzie (Fisher) in a dusty old library and takes it upon herself to prove that these magical,...

Given the sheer strength in depth of the Mouse House’s back catalogue that includes Star Wars, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Pixar, The Simpsons and a wide selection of animated titles, not to mention the production line of live-action remakes based on the studio’s extensive roster of classics, there’s more than enough on Disney Plus to keep subscribers occupied for years.
In terms of original content, though, the platform is lagging far behind the likes of Netflix, Amazon and even HBO Max. Then again, that clearly doesn’t matter in the slightest when the customer count blew past 73 million in just twelve months, which is way ahead of even the most optimistic projections being made in the boardroom.

New Delhi, Dec 4 (Ians) Hollywood star Isla Fisher finds a lot of fairytales offensive as they push gender stereotypes or show women as damsels in distress. Fisher says she tweaks such stories while reading out to her children.
"I think a lot of the fairytale stories are a little bit offensive," Fisher said while opening up about what sort of fairytales she reads to her children.
"It is sort of they are pushing a certain type of male, you know, being rescued by a prince or, a woman without a mother, an abandoned woman, or woman as a witch as a stepmother," added the mother of three.
Fisher continued: "So, a lot of these stereotypes are kind of not really what as a parent, they don't necessarily match my ideals. So, I've always sort of reform them and, you know, restructure them and I've always, you know,...

Once upon a time, Disney had the market cornered on wholesome, pure-of-heart fairy tales — films like “Cinderella” and “Sleeping Beauty” featuring fairy godmothers and charming princes. But somewhere along the way, academics and feminists and a new generation of ironically inclined kiddos realized the underlying message of these films wasn’t so magical, teaching young girls to be little more than passive wives. The Mouse House (as Variety referred to the studio at the time) was slow to address its shortcomings, while others stepped in — from “Shrek” to “The Fairly OddParents” — to parody the formula and push its politics into the 21st century.
A glorified TV movie debuting straight to the Disney Plus streaming platform, “Godmothered” is meant to signal to the world that Disney is in on the joke, an acknowledgement that “happily ever after” doesn’t necessarily follow a fairy-tale wedding, but is in fact a sign of lazy storytelling.

Comedian Jillian Bell thrives as a wild woman. The pith of her comic persona is a grasping, inelegant id — the kind of needy enfant terrible who undergoes antic slapstick and sour humiliations while the dangling carrot of maturity eludes her. Her characters inevitably leave some manner of destruction in their wake.
After watching Bell hone this half-callow, half-churlish onscreen identity in films and TV series like Rough Night, Brittany Runs a Marathon, Idiotsitter and Workaholics, I was surprised to find her lead role in the Disney+ fantasy flick Godmothered oddly deflated. In “Godmothered,” a young fairy-godmother-in-training travels to the modern human world to save her fairy-tale existence. If that plot reminds you of “Enchanted,” then that’s clearly what the folks at Disney+ had in mind, down to the casting of Isla Fisher; Fisher is a talented actress in her own right, but at least as far back as “Nocturnal Animals,” she also seems to be in on the joke that Hollywood thinks of her as The Other Amy Adams.
For the most part, “Godmothered” is a mixed-bag of clever comedy and banal kid-movie clichés, but director Sharon Maguire (“Bridget Jones’ Baby”) and writers Kari Granlund (2019’s “Lady and the Tramp”) and Melissa Stack (“The Other Woman”) craft an ending that’s so emotionally and intellectually satisfying that it’s easy to forgive the film’s less magical attributes.

Disney cannot resist cannibalizing itself, even after it’s had a good helping. There’s no lack of talent on display in Disney+’s latest original feature “Godmothered,” a film built around the charming duo of Isla Fisher and Jillian Bell (already solid casting) that also has the space to include gems like Jane Curtin and June Squibb in roles so supporting that one of them spends most of her screen time cosplaying as the face of a clock. Other supporting roles are kitted out by talented kiddos like Jillian Shea Spaeder and Willa Skye or consistent comedic stars like Utkarsh Ambudkar and Mary Elizabeth Ellis, and the whole thing was cooked up by rising screenwriters Melissa Stack (the underappreciated “The Other Woman”) and Kari Granlund. Even better, it’s all directed by Sharon Maguire, the genius behind the first (and best) “Bridget Jones” film.

Talk of a sequel to the 2005 romantic comedy hit Wedding Crashers 2 has fans excited to once again join Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson on another escapade. As good as the central duo are though, it's really Isla Fisher who ran away with the first movie as the overly possessive adorable psycho Gloria, and the actress has now said that she would love the opportunity to return for more.
"I would 100%, 100% be down. I think there is a ton of comedy to be mined in that set up. I think those two have such a great, natural chemistry. I loved playing a bipolar nymphomaniac. It would be really fun to go step back into that role that sort of made me lucky enough to be cast in fantastic movies like [Godmothered]. Yeah, it'd be great fun!"

The holiday season is here and Pixar has a little gift for Disney+ subscribers.
After the animation studio’s next major effort was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, the powers that be finally made the decision to release it on Disney’s streaming service. And that’s why you will now be able to watch Soul via Disney+ on Christmas Day. Soul stars Jamie Foxx as Joe Gardner – an inspiring jazz musician who finally gets his chance when his soul enters the Great Beyond.
Soul isn’t the only gift on Disney+ in December 2020. The sure-to-be-thrilling finale of The Mandalorian season 2 will arrive on Dec. 18. After those two beg exciting tentpoles, it’s pretty much business as usual for Disney+ this month (not that that’s necessarily a bad thing). An original movie of note, Safety, premieres on Dec. 11 and should at least be of interest to Clemson football fans.

"You're starting to believe in magic, aren't you?" Disney has unveiled an official trailer for a new fairytale comedy titled Godmothered, from the director of Bridget Jones's Diary and Bridget Jones's Baby. This holiday season, be careful who you wish for... This magical holiday comedy stars Jillian Bell as Eleanor, a young, inexperienced fairy godmother-in-training. She is an overzealous and unskilled fairy godmother who decides to venture out on her own to prove her worth by tracking down a young girl whose request for help was ignored, in hopes of showing the world that people still need fairy godmothers. But she discovers that the girl is now a 40-year-old single mom working at a TV news station. Isla Fisher also co-stars, joined by Santiago Cabrera, June Squibb, Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Stephnie Weir, Jane Curtin, and Utkarsh Ambudkar. This reminds me of Disney's adorable classic Enchanted, but with a spin on Cinderella's fairy godmother this time.
