Actor, comedian, and YouTuber Steven He has been set to star in Kung Fu Deadly, a supernatural martial arts action-comedy that sees pest control dealing with an ancient Chinese enemy.

Deadline reports today that filming has begun in Dublin and County Meath, Ireland.

Kung Ful Deadly will follow “two hapless pest controllers who are thrust into mortal danger when they accidentally tranquilize a Taoist hunter of Chinese undead aka ‘Jiangshi’ who are spreading through the city. Having interrupted her pursuit of a centuries old enemy and with the clock ticking, they must reluctantly band together to rid the city of this supernatural menace the only way they know how: extermination.”

90’s pop icon Vanilla Ice stars as himself alongside Australia’s darling Sophie Monk, who is also playing herself in the upcoming action-comedy, Zombie Plane; which also boasts Chuck Norris, starring as Commander Chuck Norris, in the cast – who “mentored and trained Ice to be the deadly secret agent he is today”.

In Zombie Plane, a secret government agency recruits celebrities to be undercover agents, and together they save humanity from an imminent zombie attack.

The film, which is littered with celebrity cameos as well as well-known pop music from the 90s including Vanilla Ice’s own library, was shot earlier this year in Australia with the support of Screen Australia. Directed by Lav Bodnaruk and Michael Mier, of Chop Shop Post, an established post-production and VFX company whose recent work includes Paramount+ ‘Last King of the Cross’ and Amazon’s ‘Troppo’.

Chuck Norris, who once ran a marathon backwards just to see what second place looks like (according to the internet), is returning to action movies.

Deadline reported that Norris is set to lead the cast of the upcoming sci-fi/action movie Agent Recon. The film has completed production and is set to be sold at the American Film Market with plans for a North American release in 2024. The film was written and directed by Derek Ting (Agent Revelation), who also stars alongside Norris and Marc Singer.

That '70s Show Almost Starred Chuck Norris in a Key Role

In the film, "Alastair (Norris), the commander of a covert Earth security task force, calls upon super-powered rookie Jim (Ting) to go on a mission led by battle-hardened Colonel Green (Singer) and his seasoned marines to track a mysterious energy disturbance at a base in New Mexico suspected of experimenting on alien technology.

Most filmmakers — even the likes of Martin Scorsese and Christopher Nolan — have likely had a “pinch me” moment on set when they’re watching some wild idea they once dreamed up come to life before their eyes. For Lav Bodnaruk, his moment arrived earlier this year in Australia while directing 1990s pop icon Vanilla Ice, who at the time was covered head to toe in blood and killing zombies with a drill.

“It was like, this is crazy,” he explains. “And Vanilla Ice was the same. He couldn’t believe that we were turning him into an action hero.”

The film in question, Zombie Plane, being sold at the AFM by Studio Dome and which Bodnaruk co-directed alongside Michael Mier, might not sound like it’s towards the serious end of the cinematic spectrum. And it isn’t. At all. And Ice isn’t even the only once big name appearing.

Studio Dome will release the feature theatrically in early 2024.

Shaked Berenson’s Los Angeles-based Studio Dome has acquired worldwide sales to John Connors’ Dublin Film Festival drama The Black Guelph and will commence talks with AFM buyers on Monday.
