Get ready for the “nyandemic“: A new trailer has arrived for the animated post-apocalyptic comedy series Nyaight of the Living Cat from Executive Director Takashi Miike in celebration of Cat Day in Japan this past Caturday.

To Your Eternity is one of the more unique titles in recent years, offering an emotional exploration of what it means to be human through the lens of Fushi. His existence begins with a being known as The Beholder, who placed an orb on Earth that would later become the anime's protagonist. Fushi is an immortal being who has the power to transform into those he comes across after they pass away and replicate items he received stimuli from.

At its core, To Your Eternity follows Fushis growing relationship with others, memory, and loss. However, despite the philosophical undertones, the animes inclusion of intense action scenes takes away from the reflective nature of Fushis story. While action scenes are typically used to create higher stakes, in To Your Eternity, it takes away from the best part of the anime: Fushis ever-evolving connection with humanity.

Renowned anime art director and background artist Yukihiro Shibutani, best known for his work on the likes of Natsume Yuujinchou, Detective Conan (Case Closed), and To Your Eternity, has passed away at the age of 63.

Via anime Shukas official X (formerly Twitter account) -- the anime studio producing Natsume Yuujinchous currently airing Season 7 -- Shibutani passed away on Sept. 15, 2024. Y.A.P. Ishigaki Production noted in its own announcement that Shibutani died due to a worsening chronic illness in a hospital in Tokyo. While no further details were given, with a funeral held only for close relatives per Shibutanis wishes, plans for a public memorial service are underway, with more details to be announced at a later date. Shuka also noted that the studio would like to plan an exhibition of Shibutanis background paintings.

In August 1998, horror manga creator Junji Ito published Uzumaki, a bizarrely creepy tale that would go on to become one of the artist's most iconic creations. Now, Toonami's Adult Swim is teaming up with Production I.G. (USA) to produce a new Uzumaki anime, which is set to premiere later this month.

Adult Swim recently highlighted the upcoming series on its official X (formerly Twitter) page, inviting viewers to "enter the spiral" for the show's broadcast premiere on Sept. 28, 2024, at 12:30 a.m. Max, the streaming destination for Adult Swim's original programming, will begin hosting Episode 1 the following day, on Sept. 29. A record breaking 34 million votes were cast by global fans, with Argentina, Australia, Brazil, France, Germany, Great Britain, India, Mexico, Spain and the United States being some of the most engaged countries.

Not only do more than half of Netflix’s worldwide subscribers check out anime on any given year, but the world’s leading anime streaming service Crunchyroll just crossed a major milestone. A little over two years after being acquired by Sony in August 2021, the streamer has gone from 5 million paid global customers to 13 million, as was announced during a presentation 2024 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week.

Crunchyroll recently surpassed 13 million premium paid subscribers around the world. The platform also announced that it has distributed 10 of the top 20 grossing anime films in United States box office history. Crunchyroll boasts the largest anime library, with over 1,300 unique titles and 46,000 episodes totaling over 24,000 hours available to stream.

The move seems to be a safe bet to garner greater attention to Crunchyroll with a variety of older, English-dubbed shows. Online streaming will likely remain the priority by getting the premium and latest shows first.

The new Crunchyroll channel was already been rolled out on certain TV networks just as it made its press release. Judging by the channels, the 24-hour linear channel will mostly serve as an "economy class" sample, with limited options. The ultimate goal will be to draw in TV-adherent viewers towards trying the online streaming service, with its subscription plan. It's an age-old tactic that nonetheless still creates more options.

Newly released character shorts introduce the charismatic cast of Mission: Yozakura Family.

Fans learned that they'll be able to meet the cast at one of Japan's biggest festivals celebrating Shōnen Jump manga, Jump Festa 2024. The festival plays host to a range of cosplay, teasers, and anime announcements, with Gintama's 20th anniversary of publication coinciding with a surprise return to the stage this year. Mission: Yozakura Family's anime adaptation was revealed at last year's Jump Festa 2023. Fans can finally put voices to face with Reiji Kawashima as Taiyō Asano, Kaede Hondo (Mutsumi Yozakura), Katsuyuki Konishi (Kyōichirō Yozakura) and Akari Kitō (Futaba Yozakura)

Mashle: Magic and Muscles has announced Mash's return in January 2024, when Season 2 premieres.

As reported by Redbeanime, Mashle announced Season 2 following the release of Season 1's finale titled "Mash Burndead and the Magic Mirror." The announcement Pv revealed Season 2 will adapt the "Divine Visionary Selection Exam." Fans can expect to see more of Mash's physical prowess as he advances through the various rounds of the Divine Visionary Selection Exam and fight against the other students. Meanwhile, six dangerous death row inmates have escaped from Hecatrice and appear to be on the hunt for Mash. The second season of Mashle premieres sometime in January 2024.

Tremendous dedication and work ethic is required to maintain a long-running manga, and it's always incredible when a single creative mind is able to tell their story over several years or decades.

There's no set way to be a mangaka; different creators have found strength through eclectic tactics. Some manga writers are celebrities themselves and well-known in the fandom, while other creators are more elusive and stay out of the spotlight. Some excellent women mangaka have penned a wide range of manga that appeal to audiences of all genders and ages.

The 2022 International Emmy Awards are underway.

23 countries are represented across 15 categories and 60 nominees at the 50th International Emmys, which was hosted by Penn & Teller’s Penn Jillette. The gala took place Monday at the New York Hilton Midtown Hotel.

During the show, South Korean actor Song Joong-ki will present the International Emmy Directorate Award to Miky Lee, vice chairwoman of Cj Group, while Ava DuVernay will receive the International Emmy Founders Award from Blair Underwood.

An anime adaptation has been officially announced for the fantasy manga Frieren: Beyond Journey's End. While many might still be unfamiliar with the manga, there's good reason to pay attention to it and its upcoming anime adaptation.

Even though Frieren masterfully tackles the poignancy of immortality like other popular ongoing series and transpires in a setting that pleasantly inverts a highly successful anime formula, the manga hasn't enjoyed the attention that it undoubtedly deserves, an unfortunate development that the adaptation will hopefully rectify. Luckily, Frieren's upcoming arrival comes at the right time, for the story contains numerous tropes that have already experienced a decent amount of success in the anime industry as of late.

She could apparently weaponize people, as made evident when she transformed the spine of Mitaka's teacher into a sword, which then required her to unsheath the recently weaponized blade. Chainsaw Man then revealed that the War Devil could only accomplish this with those who belonged to her, which compelled the War Devil to force Mitaka into possessing certain characters.

Warning: Spoilers for To Your Eternity season 2 episode 1The immortal Fushi in To Your Eternity's first season mostly suffered whenever his friends or loved ones passed on. But the latest season measures his anguish by those who are still alive.

To Your Eternity established its upsetting formula early enough that, by episode two, viewers were already dreading every time he formed a relationship with a new character. At the end of the series' pilot, Fushi had met two characters who eventually died, allowing Fushi to take their forms, as is part of his power. So when To Your Eternity later introduced more characters who were both destined to cross paths with Fushi, viewers hopefully poised themselves for what was likely to come because they too eventually met the same fate as the others, casting both Fushi and the viewers into despair.

Tony Revolori (Spider-Man: No Way Home), Gabrielle Nevaeh Green (That Girl Lay Lay), and Kausar Mohammed (Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous) are among 9 new castmembers joining the Nickelodeon animated series Monster High, premiering this fall.

Rounding out the cast is Courtney Lin (Crash: The Animated Series), Iris Menas (West Side Story), Valeria Rodriguez (To Your Eternity), Alexa Kahn (Madagascar: A Little Wild), Alexander Polinsky (Blaze and the Monster Machines), and Debra Wilson (Baby Shark’s Big Show!).

Crunchyroll Acquired To Your Eternity Season 2 To Be Streamed in Their Platform This Upcoming Fall 2022 – October 2022, 2nd Trailer Unveiled!

To Your Eternity is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Yoshitoki Oima. It has been serialized in Weekly Shounen Magazine since November 2016, with individual chapters collected by Kodansha into sixteen tankōbon volumes as of August 2021. The story is about an immortal being, Fushi, who takes on multiple forms, including that of an abandoned white-haired village boy and his white wolf in order to stimulate as it learns what it is to be truly human.

An anime television series adaptation of the manga, produced by Brain’s Base, aired from April to August 2021 on Japan’s Nhk Educational TV; a second season produced by Drive will premiere in October 2022.

TV had the run of the place for awhile there during the pandemic. But now that vaccinations are speeding up and the weather is warming, it’s film’s time to shine. At least that’s the conclusion that can be drawn from HBO Max’s list of new releases for June 2021.

There are no real original TV series of note coming this month, which is highly unusual for HBO and HBO Max. In their place, however, are some really impressive film offerings. Major Warner Bros. titles like The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (June 4) and Lin-Manuel Miranda’s In the Heights (June 11) both arrive this month. So too do some interesting documentaries like Revolutionary Rent on June 15 and Lfg on June 24. The former deals with the staging of the musical Rent in Cuba and the latter follows the U.S. women’s soccer team’s fight for equal pay.
