NBC is officially confirmed to air another brand new episode of their hit news show Dateline NBC tonight, April 6, 2025, and it will feature a look at a scandal surrounding a female jogger who went missing all of a sudden and more. This episode is the 29th one for this current season 33. According to NBC's official episode 29 press release information, this episode is officially labeled/titled, "The Last Mile." The preview information from NBC's press release is telling us that the 60 Minutes team is going to take a deep look at a story about a Brooklyn, Iowa woman named Mollie Tibbetts. She's a college student that came home for the summer. She decided to take a jog one day and went missing after that.

NBC is scheduled to air a repeat episode of Dateline NBC tonight, April 5, 2025, and it will feature a look at some deadly shootings that took place in Laredo, Texas and more. According to NBC's official episode press release, this repeat episode is officially titled, "The Streets of Laredo.” It originally aired way back on September 15, 2023. The preview information reveals that the Dateline NBC team took a look at a couple of deadly shootings that took place over in Laredo,Texas back in 2018. These shootings targeted women. The lead investigator brought in reinforcements from other law enforcement agencies to help them crack the case, and a shocking suspect was exposed. Federico Calderon, District Attorney Isidro Alaniz, family members of the victims, and others.

This Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 9:00 Pm Et/8:00 Pm Ct, Dateline NBC presents “The Streets of Laredo,” a gripping investigation into a series of deadly shootings that shook the border city of Laredo, Texas.

The case began on September 3, 2018, when the body of 29-year-old Melissa Ramirez was found on a secluded road just 25 miles outside of downtown Laredo. She had been shot in the head. While law enforcement knew Melissa as a drug user and sex worker, her family remembered her as someone completely different, leading to a tragic twist in this investigation.

As investigators delved deeper into Melissa’s life, they discovered a connection to another woman, Claudine Luera. The two women worked in the same area and knew each other. The true crime-focused Clue Awards is currently accepting submissions for its 2025 ceremony, and for the first time will honor a scripted TV program as part of its honors.

The awards, which recognize true crime works in various mediums ranging from television to podcasts to publishing, occur September 6 as part of the three-day CrimeCon. event The ceremony and CrimeCon will be held at the Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center in Aurora, Colo.

Submissions are eligible if the works premiered between April 1, 2024 and May 30, 2025. The awards are offering a discounted price for early submissions through May 16, and the regular deadline is set for June 20. Late submissions can be made until June 30. The nominations announcement will occur between July and August.

The awards categories include outstanding episodic series and outstanding docuseries in TV, as well as outstanding episodic series and outstanding docuseries in podcasting. Other lanes include true crime book of the year and outstanding documentary film.

It's officially confirmed that the people over at NBC are not going to air a new episode of their hit news show Dateline NBC tonight, March 28, 2025, due to some other TV obligations that they will be fulfilling. NBC Universal and LG Electronics have struck a partnership that will see the two companies collaborate on content and shoppable advertising opportunities.

“Predators,” a look into the rise and fall of the pedophile-baiting series “To Catch a Predator,” has sold to MTV Documentary Films following its debut at Sundance.

David Osit directed and produced the documentary, revolving around the hidden-camera reality TV show that ran on NBC from 2004-2007. On the “Dateline” spinoff series, journalist Chris Hansen worked in coordination with law enforcement while conducting sting operations that exposed adult men who were hoping to have sex with minors. The film raises questions about ethical lines in journalism as well as the public’s obsession true-crime stories.

After airing just four episodes, NBC announced on Tuesday that its freshman drama series “Grosse Pointe Garden Society” will be moving from Sunday nights to Fridays at 8:00 p.m. Et/Pt, beginning Friday, April 4.

The series follows four members of a suburban garden club who find their lives intertwined by scandal, mischief and a shared secret – a murder no one wants to talk about. As dark truths begin to rot their lives under the surface, they struggle to remain as perfect as the flowers blooming in their garden above.

A midstream scheduling change is a rarity for networks in recent years, but one is happening at NBC.

The network will move its first-year drama Grosse Pointe Garden Society from Sunday to Friday nights starting April 4. The show will take the 8 p.m. spot currently occupied by Happy’s Place; the Reba McEntire-led comedy finishes its season March 21. Episodes of Dateline will take over the 10 p.m. Sunday slot after Grosse Pointe Garden Society moves.

The change in nights is meant to help Grosse Pointe Garden Society get some more eyes to its on-air showings. The series, which follows members of a suburban garden club whose lives become entangled with scandal and secrets — and a murder — has found some traction streaming on Peacock, but its on-air viewing has struggled some.

Through its first three episodes, Grosse Pointe Garden Society has averaged a scant 1.29 million same-day viewers, making it NBC’s lowest on-air performance this season.

NBC is moving the drama series from its current Sunday night timeslot to Fridays at 8 p.m. Et/Pt beginning April 4. “Dateline NBC” will take over the Sunday 10 p.m. slot.

The move does not bode well for the future of “Grosse Pointe,” as a move to Fridays midway through a freshman season typically indicates a show is destined for cancellation. NBC has been successfully programming comedies on Friday nights of late, however, with the Reba McEntire multi-cam “Happy’s Place” recently earning a Season 2 renewal. The season finale of that show is set to air on March 21.

Still, despite relatively solid reviews, “Grosse Pointe” has failed to make a major impact in the broadcast ratings. Per NBC, the pilot has grown to a 1.21 rating in the adults 18-49 demo and 6.6 million total viewers across all platforms since it originally debuted on Feb.

The drama series will shift from its current timeslot on Sundays 10 p.m. to air at on Fridays at 8 p.m. beginning Friday, April 4, the network announced Tuesday. “Dateline NBC” will take the 10 p.m. timeslot on Sunday.

“Grosse Pointe Garden Society” previously aired at the end of primetime on Sunday, following “The Americas,” which airs from 7-9 p.m. and airing directly after “Suits: LA” at 9 p.m. “Dateline NBC” will now follow “Suits: LA” at 10 p.m.

Now, “Grosse Pointe Garden Society” will kick off primetime on Fridays, filling up the spots left after “Lopez vs. Lopez” which ended its Season 3 run in February and “Happy’s Place” which finishes up its first installment later this week.

ABC News is pivoting its audio podcast strategy, focusing on true crime via its newsmagazine 20/20 as it plans its 2025 programming slate.

“True crime resonates, and the audience just seems to have an appetite that knows no ends,” says Liz Alesse, vp of audio for ABC News, in an interview.

The new programs include 20/20: The After Show, which will be hosted by anchor Deborah Roberts. The show will serve as a complement to each week’s episode of the newsmagazine, taking listening behind the scenes of the stories featured. The After Show follows Dateline’s Talking Dateline and 48 Hours: Post Mortem in creating a companion podcast to the weekly series.

It will also include The Crime Scene Weekly, led by Brad Mielke, which will look at the stories in the true crime space that people are talking about each week.

The preview information for tonight's new episode is telling us that the Dateline NBC team is going to take a deep look at a story about a woman named Lori Vallow Daybell. She was convicted of murdering her two kids along with her husband Chad Daybell. Lori was also found guilty of conspiring to kill Chad's ex-wife Tammy. Even though she's been convicted of these crimes, she still claims she's innocent of them.

Is this the Super Bowl of Dateline?

The NBC true crime staple has released an unhinged promo on TikTok for tonight’s sit-down between correspondent Keith Morrison and “Mommy Doomsday” Lori Vallow Daybell.

Daybell was convicted of brutally murdering her two youngest children, as part of plot to embark on a new life with her fifth husband, and also conspiring to murder a romantic rival. In 2023, she was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole and this marks her first interview.

Earlier this week, we reported on the news that Lester Holt has decided to step down as anchor of NBC Nightly News.

At the time, it was unclear who would be chosen to replace the beloved journalist, who has helmed the broadcast since 2015.

Today, we can confirm that as expected, NBC has decided to keep things in-house by promoting a member of its award-winning news division.

“Tom has the winning combination of journalistic excellence, passionate storytelling and unyielding integrity — all characteristics that have long been trademarks of NBC Nightly News,” NBC News EVP Janelle Rodriguez Rodriguez wrote in a message to staff. “Additionally, he’s been instrumental in growing NBC News Now into the leading streaming news network, helping to introduce NBC News to a new generation of viewers.”

NBC News has found the next anchor of its flagship evening newscast, NBC Nightly News.

The network says that Tom Llamas will step into the role later this summer. Llamas succeeds Lester Holt, who announced his plan to step down from the show last month. Holt is moving to a full-time role at the primetime newsmagazine Dateline.

NBC News executive VP Janelle Rodriguez announced Llamas promotion to staff Wednesday. Notably, in addition to anchoring the evening newscast, Llamas will also continue host his NBC News Now streaming show Top Story.

Llamas will take over as anchor of “NBC Nightly News” at some point after Lester Holt steps down from the venerable evening newscast in early summer. Llamas, who has been hosting an early-evening program on the NBC News Now live-streaming service, will continue to do so, meaning that each weeknight, he will lead “Nightly” from 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. eastern, then immediately move to the hour of his streaming program, “Top Story.”

During this weekend’s “Saturday Night Live” Weekend Update, co-anchor Michael Che pointed out an uncomfortable truth: NBCUniversal is losing two prominent Black news anchors at the same time.

MSNBC anchor Joy Reid, who previously filled the 7 p.m. slot, has been let go as part of a massive reshuffling of talent at the news cabler. And NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt announced this week that he was departing after a decade in the chair.

That, of course, led Che to quip that perhaps he’s the next to go.

“This week, MSNBC fired its only non-white primetime host, and Lester Holt announced he is stepping down as the anchor of NBC Nightly News,” Che said. “Well, NBC, only one more to go, baby,” he added, as he pointed to a photo of himself.

Che has co-anchored “SNL’s” Weekend Update with Colin Jost since 2014, having replaced Cecily Strong in the role.

NBC News is developing a new subscription service, one that will be geared toward mobile video consumers.

Cesar Condé, the chairman of NBCUniversal News Group, announced the service at a summit hosted by Semafor in Washington Thursday.

Details are scarce, but Condé said that the company is targeting a fourth quarter launch, and that it would complement the company’s other streaming offerings, which include NBC News Now and Today All Day.

The new offering is plotted as a mobile-first service with about two dozen live streams in both English and Spanish, featuring on-demand content from Meet the Press, Today, Nightly News and Dateline as well as access to NBC News’ podcast archives.
