No single genre defines filmmaker Neil Burger. From helming high-concept sci-fi mind-twisters like Limitless with Bradley Cooper and Robert DeNiro, to down-to-earth tearjerkers like The Upside with Bryan Cranston and Kevin Hart. His previous outing was The Marsh King’s Daughter, a vengeance thriller starring Daisy Ridley. Now he’s back with something on an entirely different plane– Inheritance, an international espionage action flick shot entirely from the hip.

Writer-Director Neil Burger boasts quite a diverse catalog of films, ranging from sci-fi action flicks like Divergent and Limitless to the romantic mystery period film The Illusionist and the psychological crime thriller adaptation The Marsh King's Daughter. His latest, Inheritance, now takes him into the world of spy thrillers, following a woman who discovers her father's past in espionage, unknowingly thrusting her into the heart of an international conspiracy. There's no predicting what he has planned next given his range, but, fortunately, there's no need to do any guessing because he already has a few plans in motion. In an interview with Collider's Steve Weintraub for Inheritance, he opened up about two ideas that are next on the docket, including a biopic that he was able to pull back the curtain on ever so slightly.

In Inheritance, when Maya (Phoebe Dynevor) learns that her father (Rhys Ifans) was once a spy, she suddenly finds herself at the center of an international conspiracy. In her quest for answers, Maya becomes a target and must travel the globe, mastering her father’s skills and unraveling the mysteries of his past in this gripping espionage thriller.
What makes this movie - helmed by Limitless director Neil Burger - particularly unique is the fact it was essentially produced undercover. Filmed using an iPhone, Inheritance was shot without the people surrounding Dynevor and Ifans knowing what was happening...or that they were extras!
As you can probably imagine, that presented Burger with a lot of very unique challenges as a filmmaker. Earlier this month, we sat down with him to learn more about how he approached shooting this edge-of-your-seat thriller.

When reviewing a film, reading the director’s statement can feel an awful lot like checking their will. What an artist intended with the choices they left behind won’t always matter to the audience, but Neil Burger’s “Inheritance” is worth researching before you buy the ticket. Knowing how this strangely pedestrian thriller got produced not only makes it far more enjoyable to watch but highlights a new storytelling approach that might work better on the second try.
Captured on location in Egypt, India, South Korea, and New York City, IFC Films’ latest experiment in suspense — a father-daughter espionage adventure starring Phoebe Dynevor and Rhys Ifans — uses a naturalistic shooting style that spurred some great behind-the-scenes stories. Known for films like “Limitless” and “Divergent,” Burger aimed to make another slippery psychological drama with mainstream action appeal, but this time, he tried to give it some added oomph by boosting the authenticity.

If it weren’t for the empty adjustable hospital bed in the room, it would seem like Maya’s (Phoebe Dynevor) story is a lot like any other film about 20-somethings living in New York City: she steps out into the night, nicks a bottle of booze from a liquor store and proceeds to take hearty swigs of her purloined goods in public; she dances in a club with the abandon of someone avoiding life’s sobering troubles; she accepts the advances of a stranger. The two end up in bed together, and then, moments later, the stranger is gone. For a brief moment, we’re in the throes of a young woman’s existential journey set in The City That Never Sleeps. This isn’t that type of movie, however; it’s actually an international spy thriller directed by Neil Burger.

In description, “Inheritance” sounds like one of those movies that’s about the gimmickry of its own making: A spy thriller shot entirely on iPhone, with many scenes staged in public without permits for added urgency and spontaneity. But this latest feature from Neil Burger, who co-wrote the script with spy novelist Olen Steinhauer, ultimately transcends mere novelty by having an even smaller-scale gist than you’d expect. For all its multinational sprawl and intimations of high peril, the film is ultimately a two-person drama about a daughter (Phoebe Dynevor) finding out who her long-absent father (Rhys Ifans) really is. What she learns is bitter, but also dramatically satisfying enough to make this release, hitting theaters from IFC Films on Friday, feel like something more than just one more low-budget action movie with familiar faces.

There is no denying that Chris Hemsworth’s Thor and Natalie Portman’s Jane had an excellent love story in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While it had quite an unceremonious stage in Thor: Ragnarok, Thor: Love and Thunder was able to bring it all to a beautiful end.

However, fictional love stories seem to be no match for the kind of romance Hemsworth shares with his wife in real life. There are plenty of examples of the actor going on about how much he loves Elsa Pataky. Be it in interviews or on his social media, they have become quite the standard for romance.
But there is no better example of how devoted the two are to each other than what Pataky did for Hemsworth when they found out that he could get Alzheimer’s disease in the future.

Cursed techniques in Jujutsu Kaisen are known for being extremely complex, often involving strategies, layered mechanics, and a blend of unique abilities. From Gojo's Limitless and Six Eyes to Megumi's Ten Shadows, the series is full of abilities that challenge both the characters and readers to understand them fully. But in the middle of this complexity, Sukuna's slashing techniques, Dismantle and Cleave, stand out not for their intricacy but for their brutal simplicity. They are very elegant and thrive on efficiency over flashiness.
Sukunas Dismantle and Cleave arent just slashing techniques, they are a philosophy in battle. While other sorcerers rely on complex setups, restrictions, or even domain expansions to optimize their attacks, Sukunas methods boil down to pure, unstoppable destruction. It is the perfect representation of how Jujutsu Kaisen compares the elemental techniques with the elaborate ones, showing that sometimes the simplest tools can be the most effective.

Jujutsu Kaisen's second-year sensei, Atsuya Kusakabe, has always managed to avoid all danger and keep himself out of harm's way. The cowardly teacher detests fighting in any capacity, despite being a Grade 1 sorcerer, technically the highest rank achievable. Regardless of clearly having his fair share of battle capability and experience, Kusakabe's self-preservation comes before anything else, and he's willing to be deceitful to achieve this.
Despite the sorcerer clearly being a weak link among his peers, Jjk manga Chapter 253 surprised fans by suggesting that Kusakabe is actually jujutsu society's strongest Grade 1 sorcerer. Nanami and Mei Mei, his peers of the same rank, spilled in an interview scenario that they believed him to be the strongest of their grade. Even special-grade Gojo Satoru, previously the world's strongest sorcerer, agreed. What makes the fearful sorcerer so strong?

The Dexter original series finale ended on a haunting note. Dexter: New Blood then attempted to revive the series, gifting fans a ninth season and a second finale. Dexter: New Blood isn't exactly a reboot. It's more of the show's second finale. The series follows Dexter Morgan, a man who lives a double life as a serial killer by night and a blood-spatter analyst by day, along with the police. Characters in the original series don't tend to last very long given Dexter's dark hobby. However, Dexter: New Blood still manages to bring some fan favorites back. The ninth season proves that even a character who's officially dead in the original show can reappear in other forms.
Dexter: New Blood ties up some loose ends, especially regarding the way the original series leaves things with Dexter's son, Harrison. Dexter is reunited with Harrison in Dexter: New Blood. 10 years after the events in the season 8 finale,...

Republic Pictures has nabbed U.S. and Canadian rights to “Adulthood,” directed by Alex Winter and penned by novelist Michael M.B. Galvin.
Described as darkly comic and modern-noir, “Adulthood” follows sister and brother Megan and Noah who are barely hanging on in present-day America. When they discover a dead body, long buried in their parents’ basement, the siblings are pulled back to the hometown they ran away from and into a rabbit hole of crime and murder.
“I couldn’t be more excited to be working with Republic Pictures for the North American sales and release of our film,” said Winter. “They have great instincts and are dedicated to quality indie movies.”
The cast includes Josh Gad (“Gutenberg! The Musical!”), Kaya Scodelario (“The Gentlemen”), Billie Lourd (Booksmart), Anthony Carrigan (“Barry”) and Winter, best known for the long-running hit “Bill & Ted” franchise, including 2020’s “Bill & Ted Face the Music.

This article contains spoilers for the Jujutsu Kaisen manga finale, available to read in English via Viz Media and Shonen Jump.
One of the biggest and most influential series in modern shonen, Gege Akutamis Jujutsu Kaisen has gifted fans with a six-year run of non-stop action, mind-boggling plot developments, incredible immersive storytelling, and unforgettable characters. Yet, no manga, regardless of how spectacular and popular it is, can go on forever, with Jjk concluding its serialization on Chapter 271. Finding a shonen manga ending that has satisfied every single fan is a nigh-impossible task. However, JJKs sudden finale received particularly harsh criticisms from the series sizable and passionate fanbase. After following the manga for many years and having justifiably high expectations of its long-anticipated ending, many readers felt let down by the rushed final chapters, the overabundance of scrapped plot threads, and the lack of closure for certain characters.

This prompted Barrymore to collapse on her couch and cover her face. This is hilarious, Hemsworth said, adding he was at the salon getting his hair tipped or colored for a movie.

Some of the best crime TV shows were canceled early, leaving fans frustrated with the lack of character and story development. Titles like Prodigal Son, The Enemy Within, Limitless, Jett, and Magic City had potential but fell short due to network issues or audience ratings. Critically acclaimed performances, dynamic relationships, and compelling storylines were cut short, leaving viewers disappointed with the abrupt endings.

Thurston Moore is back, and limitless. The Sonic Youth founding guitarist has officially announced his ninth solo album, Flow Critical Lucidity. It marks his first full length album since 2021’s instrumental meditation Screen Time.
Along with the official album announcement, Moore has shared new single “Sans Limites” featuring Stereolab’s Lætitia Sadier. The track is a slow burn with electronic touches that swirl around a guitar and piano motif until Moore’s voice cuts in more than halfway through the five minute song.
