Dragons, poison, evil queens, oh my

The first expansion for Dark Souls 2, Crown Of The Sunken King takes the player deep underground to Shulva, the Sanctum City, another fallen kingdom from centuries past, coated in poison. And I really enjoyed it. If you like the base game, this'll be worth it for you, as Shulva is an interesting and fun location to explore, with some of the best area design in the game, a good amount of new equipment to find, and an interesting backstory.

However, I can't really see how Elana, the queen, is involved in any of it, the new enemies are fairly disappointing, and dear god the Cave of the Dead area is a pain in the neck with a terrible boss at the end of it.

The other bosses are good however, quite a significant improvement from most of the bosses in the main game, so while it has its shortcomings, if you liked the main game, then give this a go too, because it didn't disappoint.
