Star Wars: Visions won big at the Annie Awards. The awards show that celebrates everything in animation honored two shorts from the anthology series.

First up was the fan favorite "Screecher's Reach," which won Best Direction - TV/Media. It won over Scavengers Reign, Pokémon Concierge, My Dad the Bounty Hunter, and Kizazi Moto: Generation Fire. The other winner from Visions was "Aau's Song," which took home Best Music -TV/Media. It beat out Animaniacs, Babylon 5: The Road Home, Pacemaker, and The Smeds and The Smoos.

They weren't the only Visions shorts that were nominated at the Annie Awards. "Sith" was nominated for Best Production Design - TV/Media and Best FX - TV/Media but lost out to Netflix's Blue Eye Samurai in both categories. Despite being among the top-rated kids' animated series to be released in the last few years, My Dad the Bounty Hunter will sadly not be returning to Netflix for a third season, as the streamer has quietly canceled the animated series, according to What's on Netflix. This unfortunate news comes almost a year following the show's second season's debut and may have been expected considering that there was little to no buzz surrounding the season in the months following its release; hence, speculations arose about whether the show would actually return.

The hunt is over for the Netflix animated series My Dad the Bounty Hunter.

Per What’s On Netflix, the streamer has canceled the show after two seasons. Everett Downing Jr., one of its co-creators, confirmed the news.

Season 2 of the series debuted in August 2023, following a first season that premiered in February 2023.

“I feel extremely fortunate to have been able to work with such an incredible team of partners and artists,” Downing said to Whats-on-Netflix.com. “It’s so unreal watching your ideas come to life! Everyone who worked on the show fell in love with Terry, Tess, Lisa, Sean, and the entire cast of quirky, wild, and crazy characters. During its Annecy panel this afternoon, Adult Swim is unveiling full series greenlights for a pair of new shows as well as a season three order for its popular surreal workplace comedy “Smiling Friends.”

A fan teaser for a hypothetical Batman Beyond animated movie gives viewers a taste of what such a project would be like. Interestingly, although the teaser focuses on the Tomorrow Knight, its animation takes cues from the Spider-Verse franchise.

Uploaded onto YouTube by a user named Vehgeto, the video begins with Batman standing beneath a giant image of his chest emblem before walking off a building. Luckily, Batman's glider wings and jet boots activate, which allow Batman to dodge another building and soar up in front of the moon before he leaps down. The video ends with another shot of the emblem, which oozes both on to and off of the screen.

The footage from a Batman Beyond animated project which was pitched by Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse visual developer Yuhki Demers has been revealed. Batman Beyond is a fan-favorite DC series featuring Terry McGinnis as the young Dark Knight. Despite interest in revival, the project is not in development but has sparked enthusiasm among fans and creators.

A Batman Beyond animated project was pitched by Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse visual developer Yuhki Demers and writer Patrick Harpin last year, and the footage they created has now come to light. Coming courtesy of @Vehgeto on YouTube, the clip brings to life the futuristic Neo-Gotham in a style akin to that of the Spider-Verse franchise, and finds young Dark Knight Terry McGinnis taking flight for the first time.

Batman voice actor Jensen Ackles has revealed when Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths - Part Two will be available to rent or own on Digital.

At IGN Fan Fest, Ackles debuted a new clip from Crisis on Infinite Earths - Part Two, featuring Batman, Superman, Green Arrow and Green Lantern squaring off with shadow demons. Ahead of the clip, the actor also shared that the animated film would arrive on Digital on April 23, 2024, roughly four months after Part One was released on Jan. 9. However, unlike Part One, there was no mention of a physical release for Part Two, suggesting the sequel will only be available on Digital platforms.

Other features that won multiple awards from the International Animated Film Society Asifa-Hollywood, which presents the prizes recognizing the year’s best in animation, include two-time winners Nimona and The Boy and the Heron, which were nominated for nine and seven awards apiece, respectively.

Across the Spider-Verse, Nimona and The Boy and the Heron are all nominated for the Oscar for best animated feature, alongside Elemental and Robot Dreams, which won best feature – independent. Pixar’s Elemental went home empty-handed, despite being nominated for six awards.

When Netflix released its first-ever Engagement Report — a revealing look into what (and how much) people are watching within the streamer’s film and TV catalog — live-action adult and young adult series like Ginny and Georgia, The Night Agent and Fubar were among those that topped nearly a billion hours watched.

But between January and June 2023, seasons of animated originals Sonic Prime, Gabby’s Dollhouse, Barbie Life in the Dreamhouse, My Dad the Bounty Hunter and The Creature Cases also ranked among the 500 most-viewed series (out of 18,000), as did acquisitions like Paw Patrol, CoComelon, Pj Masks and Peppa Pig.

Also worth noting is that Netflix changed up its top 10 metrics midway through the year to favor views over pure viewing hours. That said, their data provides a pretty accurate snapshot of what performed best over a long period.

Audiences flocked to the thriller limited series, which is about a British expat schoolteacher living in Spain, racking up 13.2M views in its first few days on the streamer from August 21 to 27.

Depp V. Heard still managed a fairly strong week, though, with 8.3M views. That brought Painkiller in at No. 3 on the list with 5.6M views.

Untold: Swamp Kings came in fourth place during its first week on Netflix with 5M views on the series about the Florida Gators’ heyday under coach Urban Meyer. Exclusive: The animation indie behind Netflix’s Trash Truck and My Dad the Bounty Hunter has been acquired by France Télévisions’ studio arm.

France.TV Studio becomes a majority owner of Dwarf Animation Studios, providing the animation producer and facility with a “more robust operational infrastructure and accelerating the long-term goal of building a creative hub in the South of France,” according to France.TV Studio. Financials were not disclosed and the deal is the France.TV Studio’s first acquisition.

France.TV Studio, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of French national broadcaster France Télévisions, will build out Dwarf’s front-end pre-production such as visual development and storyboarding, while sharing technical facilities.

Exclusive: Insecure alumna Yvonne Orji has signed a two-year first-look deal with Sony Pictures Television. Under the pact, the Emmy-nominated actress, comedian, writer, author and producer will develop scripted drama and comedy series for cable and streaming. There is a possibility for her to star in any of the projects she develops for the studio.

“Yvonne is incredibly talented, vibrant, and authentic, and we are thrilled to announce this new deal with her,” said Lauren Stein, EVP of Drama Development, Sony Pictures Television. “She has this gravitational pull and unique perspective, and we are excited to start exploring the types of stories she wants to tell.”

The streamer is teaming up with The Pokémon Company to create “Pokémon Concierge,” an upcoming stop-motion animated series. The series will follow “Haru, a concierge at the Pokémon Resort, and her interactions with Pokémon and their owners who visit as guests,” the logline says.

A short teaser for “Pokémon Concierge,” announced on Monday, Feb. 27, a.k.a. Pokémon Day 2023, showed a blissful, sandy beach with a Psyduck waddling along the shore. “This is the Pokémon Resort. For something that is bound to naturally occur, the fact that sci-fi media avoids tends to avoid showing bathrooms is interesting, particularly considering that the alternative - no bathrooms at all - is even grosser. In fact, having suits that get rid of waste weirdly seems to be a more common choice to explain the absence of bathrooms in the sci-fi genre, but My Dad The Bounty Hunter bucks the trend.
