Apple Films has landed an out-of-this-world new project – a UFO disclosure movie that reteams “F1” director Joseph Kosinski with producer Jerry Bruckheimer, working from a script by Zach Baylin.
According to the official release, the thriller “will explore disclosure around UAPs (formerly known as UFOs).” The currently untitled film will be produced by Bruckheimer and Chad Oman for Jerry Bruckheimer Films and Kosinski for Monolith. David Grusch will serve as a consultant and associate producer.
“F1,” from Kosinski and Bruckheimer, will debut in theaters this summer, thanks to a distribution deal with Warner Bros., before landing on Apple TV+ at a later date. The film stars Brad Pitt as a racecar driver who takes a hotshot young protégé under his wing (Damson Idris). The film also stars Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies and Javier Bardem and reunites much of the team behind Kosinski’s blockbuster “Top Gun: Maverick,” including screenwriter Ehren Kruger,...

It may be a Hollywood era of uncertainty and contraction, but in some dealmaking situations, it is anything but.
In a pick up worth dozens of millions of dollars, Apple has closed a deal on the untitled hot package centered on Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena, formerly known as Unidentified Flying Objects. Joseph Kosinski is attached to direct and produce, with Zach Baylin on board to write the script. Veteran producer Jerry Bruckheimer is on board to produce as well.
The deal represents more than just a reteaming of Kosinski and Bruckheimer and Apple, who this summer are unveiling high-octane racing movie F1. It is one of the richest deals in quite some time, one that underscores a shift in the event movie landscape and shows that behind-the-scenes talent, in this case a new generation combined with a long-standing veteran, can command top market prices.

The big first-night audience for Saturday Night Live’s 50th anniversary special carried over to streaming the week after — giving the show its first-ever appearance on the Nielsen streaming charts.
SNL, which streams on Peacock, notched 863 million minutes of viewing in the United States for the week of Feb. 17-23. That was good for seventh place overall and third among library series. The show has an absurdly large library — 1,109 episodes spanning half a century — but Nielsen notes that 68 percent of viewing for the week was for episodes from the current season, including the anniversary special.
Netflix’s Zero Day and Prime Video’s Reacher finished first and second overall for the week after premiering on Feb. 20. Zero Day held a slight lead with 1.84 billion minutes of viewing to 1.81 billion for Reacher. Love Is Blind (1.42 billion minutes), Bluey (1.05 billion) and Family Guy (1.01 billion) also scored more than a billion viewing mintues.

Getting into the streaming game isn't an easy task, given all the competition in the marketplace. Netflix is still the one to beat in the field, but there's no denying that it has become very crowded as more have emerged over the years, and each is vying for content that could give them more leverage. The thing about content is that it costs a lot of money, and Apple is reportedly learning that the hard way on a yearly basis. While Apple TV+ is full of some of the best content in the streaming stratosphere, a report has come that the streaming service is losing a lot of money every year.
According to a report from The Information, two people with inside knowledge of the matter revealed that Apple loses more than $1 billion a year on Apple TV+. Since entering the streaming competition in 2019, Apple has reportedly spent $5 billion a year on content,...

Streaming is hard, and for most companies that aren’t Netflix, launching your own SVOD streaming service is a difficult way of earning a profit. So it should be no surprise that Apple TV+ isn’t among the profitable streamers either.
A report in The Information on Thursday said that Apple TV+ loses $1 billion on streaming annually, and it’s doing that despite 45 million subscribers. Those are two numbers that, despite launching in 2019, have never been released publicly by Apple. That’s because Apple TV+ is housed within Apple Services, a division of Apple that also includes Apple Music, Apple Fitness, Apple News+, Apple Arcade, Apple Books, and iCloud.
Per the company’s most recent earnings, the three months ending in January saw Apple bring in $124.3 billion in revenue, $26.3 billion of which came from Services, a record for the division. That’s just for one quarter. For the year, Services brought in more than $96 billion.

While the film industry is known for its widely diverse genres, the horror genre enjoys a unique edge with its ability to keep the audience at the edge of their seats at all times. Even though there is no shortage of projects within the domain, not all end up delighting and frightening viewers. In recent years, not many movies have made an impact or an impression as strong as The Black Phone.

Written and directed by former GQ editor and frequent celebrity interviewer Mark Anthony Green, “Opus” is an A24 thriller about, well, the horrors of celebrity culture. A kind of tonal and narrative cousin to 2022’s “The Menu,” the film is a nightmarish satire set at a remote compound owned by a popular, potentially malevolent musician. Featuring a star-studded cast, it joins “Heart Eyes,” “Companion,” “The Gorge” and “The Monkey” on 2025’s growing list of noteworthy high-concept thrillers and horror movies.
Here is how, when and where you can watch “Opus.”
When does “Opus” come out?

Ask any stunt person, and they'll tell you: the ability to sell taking a punch is just as important, and perhaps more so, than credibly throwing one. Ask any editor or sound designer, and they'll corroborate this and then some. If you've ever watched raw dailies from an action movie, you'll note how oddly weightless a lot of fight sequences become when they're robbed of their rhythm and the satisfying Thwam sound of their body blows. All this is to say that action in cinema is so incredibly dependent on selling the total effect of the violence, even more than show-stopping stunts and feats of strength and dexterity. Since it's all in the timing, it's no wonder that so many great action directors either come from or are adept at comedy -- from Buster Keaton to Jackie Chan.
However, there are just as many great action filmmakers who come from the world of horror,...

Netflix’s Love Is Blind came out of the gate strong with the Valentine’s Day premiere of its eighth season.
The dating show accumulated 1.07 billion viewing minutes in the United States for the week of Feb. 10-16, according to Nielsen. That’s better than the premiere week totals for the past two cycles: Season six had 907 million minutes in the same week a year ago, and season seven opened to 1.05 billion minutes in early October.
Nielsen counts viewing of all episodes toward a show’s weekly tally, but the ratings service notes that 95 percent — our about 1.02 billion minutes — of Love Is Blind’s total was for the new batch of episodes that premiered Feb. 14.
Sweet Magnolias (1.16 billion minutes), which finished second overall a week earlier, moved into the top spot for Feb. 10-16 with a nine percent increase in viewing week to week. The final episodes of Cobra Kai...

Scott Derrickson’s The Gorge is a film that proudly revels in its absurdity, a hybrid of genres stitched together with the confidence of a director unafraid to push the limits of plausibility. Equal parts military thriller, sci-fi horror, and starry-eyed romance, it’s the kind of film that begs you to leave logic at the door and simply enjoy the ride. And for a while, it works. With Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy delivering charismatic performances, and some impressively weird creature design lurking in the depths, The Gorge almost succeeds in being the gloriously over-the-top spectacle it aspires to be. Almost.
The premise is delightfully ridiculous. Levi (Teller) and Drasa (Taylor-Joy) are elite snipers stationed on opposite sides of a vast, mist-filled gorge, tasked with preventing whatever lurks below from escaping. Their only human contact is each other – though their respective military handlers forbid communication. Naturally, this rule is ignored almost immediately.

Anya Taylor-Joy is one of the most exciting young movie stars working right now. Most recently, she starred alongside Miles Teller in the film The Gorge, directed by Scott Derrickson. The film had the biggest launch for an AppleTV+ movie ever, surpassing Wolfs starring A-listers George Clooney and Brad Pitt. The record speaks to Taylor-Joy's star power and solidifies her status as an A-lister on the rise. Taylor-Joy had her breakthrough role in Robert Eggers' The Witch in 2015 and became a true household name in 2020 with the Netflix miniseries The Queen's Gambit. In between these two monumental roles, however, she gave an underrated performance in the PBS Masterpiece Theater miniseries The Miniaturist. The Miniaturist is a bleak but intriguing series that's sure to suck viewers in. While the writing isn't as strong as that of The Queen's Gambit, it's still an excellent showcase for Taylor-Joy with beautiful production design and...

It’s Anya Taylor-Joy’s world. We are just living in it. Her latest film, The Gorge, recently became Apple TV+’s biggest launch. The streaming giant doesn’t normally disclose specific numbers, but exceptions tend to be made for Number 1, which was the case with the new flick. A recent report by Deadline reveals that the film has driven double-digit growth globally for the streaming service and boosted new viewership figures by over 80% since its debut on Friday, February 14. Impressive!
Taylor-Joy has been on a roll in the 2020s, wowing fans with her performances in Peaky Blinders, The Northman, Amsterdam, Super Mario Bros. Movie, and Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. She also did excellent work on The Menu, a movie that continues to soar, two years after its release. In February, the black comedy horror hit Netflix’s Top 10 chart in U.S., proving that quality never goes out of fashion.

Without a doubt, Apple TV+ has become one of the best streaming services out there. With shows like Severance, Slow Horses, and Ted Lasso under its belt, the platform continues to raise the bar on what it means to make good television. They might be relatively new to the world of streaming, but they’ve managed to rival their competitors rather quickly and successfully. Thankfully, it appears as though the brand-new shows slated to arrive in March will be just as good as the ones they’ve produced in the past.
There might not be a plethora of series heading to Apple TV+ next month, but that doesn’t mean a thing if the few series that will be released are stellar shows, which seems to be the case. Between a crime drama, a Hollywood comedy, and a spin-off of a beloved and established series, viewers won’t want to...

This past weekend saw Valentine’s Day land on a Friday and, because of it, we got plenty of films in the holiday spirit. From Heart Eyes to Companion, there were plenty of options when it came to cinematic offerings for V-Day. And those that prefer to stay home had an entirely different option: Anya Taylor Joy and Miles Teller falling in love from across a massive chasm in The Gorge. Sure, this Sci Fi film may not seem like the stereotypical romance film, but it certainly has that at its core. While I wasn’t the biggest fan of the film (check that out Here), I still encourage you to decide for yourself. I spoke to the writer of the film, Zach Dean, about creating the story, as well as some other upcoming projects he’s working on. It’s also reportedly Apple’s biggest launch ever for an original film.

Apple TV+ has a huge hit on its hands as The Gorge has become its biggest movie yet. The film, which stars Miles Teller (Whiplash) and Anya Taylor-Joy (The Queen's Gambit), was directed by Scott Derrickson and has beaten the premiere of Apple's hit movie, Wolfs, which starred George Clooney and Brad Pitt.
The Gorge follows two snipers from different nations, Levi (Teller) and Drasa (Taylor-Joy), as they stand guard over a gorge that holds many mysteries. Despite being on either side of the gorge in two separate watch towers, the two become close. But when the pair learn what the evil is that lurks at the bottom of the gorge, they have to fight to stop it from leaving. Sigourney Weaver also stars, and the script was written by Zach Dean.
When the movie premiered on Apple TV+ on Feb. 14, it quickly shot up to number one on the streamer's chart.
