Netflix's latest movie, Ad Vitam, includes a small ensemble of talented French actors. Directed by Rodolphe Lauga, the Netflix international movie is currently the number one non-English film on the streaming platform. Ad Vitam follows Franck, a former member of the elite French tactical police, the Gign, as he is forced to delve into his past after his pregnant wife is kidnapped. While Ad Vitam uses a similar plotline that several films in the genre employ, it sets itself apart with its action and incredible performances from its cast.
Since most of the actors in Ad Vitam are French, they might not be familiar to an American audience, but they've featured in several French movies and TV Shows. The Netflix action movie is engaging from start to finish, with an intense storyline that makes audiences root for the primary protagonist. Although there's a lot to like about Ad Vitam,...

With his latest spy movie Alarum, Scott Eastwood is continuing to churn out bullet-laced action thrillers. Last year saw him in the Los Angeles period caper 1992, trying to pull off the ultimate heist amid the early-'90s Watts riots alongside the late, great Ray Liotta. We've seen him in some of the fun Fast & Furious flicks and assorted war films, like the excellent Fury. Future projects on the horizon include another war film, the highly anticipated Tin Soldier, which also stars big names like Robert De Niro, Jamie Foxx, Rita Ora, John Leguizamo, Shamier Anderson, and more. Filming took place mainly in Greece two years ago, but there hasn't been any news about the movie until now. MovieWeb caught up with Eastwood while he was promoting Alarum, and the famed actor took time to weigh in on the status of Tin Soldier.

Netflix has become the home for underrated and overlooked titles this year, covering everything from horror oddities to star vehicles. While some random movies do show up on the service’s top 10 lists, many of these end up being worth a rewatch, or seen for the first time if missed upon their initial release. The latest example of this trend is the 2016 Idris Elba film Bastille Day, which is currently top of the Netflix US most-watched movies chart, and is even beating out the likes of The Devil All the Time.
Also known as The Take, Bastille Day stars Elba as CIA agent Sean Briar, who gets drawn into a Paris-set plot involving an explosive bomb and Richard Madden’s American pickpocket. It’s nothing groundbreaking as far as action flicks go, but it gets the job done. English director James Watkins was behind the camera, having built a solid...

Idris Elba definitely possesses the screen presence, charisma and acting abilities to become a standout action hero, but for inexplicable reasons, his ventures into the genre have been overwhelmingly disappointing. The Losers and Takers both bombed at the box office a decade ago, and since then he’s gone on to star in a number of mediocre titles.

When I wasn.t getting enough Tom Hardy, I had to turn to the series he starred in The Take. It.s good, but unfortunately there are only four episodes. I naively thought that they would get Hardy back for another season. Remember that episode of The Simpsons when Homer pledges $10,000 he obviously doesn.t have to get the show .Do Shut Up. put back on the air? Well, this is one of those shows I would do that for. It.s not the only one though, and we don.t have time for me to deliver my list....

Tom Hardy is headed to the BBC. The actor has signed on for Season 2 of gangster drama Peaky Blinders. The period series is set in Birmingham, England where the Shelby family lead the Peaky Blinders – a feared gang named for their practice of sewing razor blades into the peaks of their caps. Hardy will play a charismatic leader who presents a unique opportunity to Cillian Murphy‘s Tommy Shelby. Hardy’s last dramatic turn on the small screen was in 2009 miniseries The Take which aired on Sky 1. With Peaky Blinders, he reteams with his Dark Knight Rises and Inception co-star Murphy as well as with Steven Knight who created the series and also wrote and directed Hardy feature Locke. Knight is writing all six episodes of the second season which starts shooting later this month. It will see the Shelby family expand their empire as the 1920s begin. In November,...

Perhaps best known as fiancee to The Dark Knight Rises star Tom Hardy, British TV actress Charlotte Riley is now set to make her big Hollywood debut in a major sci-fi tentpole. Doug Liman hasn’t directed a film since 2010′s Fair Game but he’s now finally set to return with All You Need is Kill and has added the actress to the ensemble. [Variety]
Also starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt, the film is adapted from Hiroshi Sakurazaka‘s manga comic — scripted by Jody Harold and Dante Harper — that revolves around a Groundhog Day-like conceit, in which a soldier, fighting aliens, experiences a temporal loop that takes him back to the final day of his life. Much like Bill Connors, however, he takes advantage of this constant repetition and starts to train himself for total victory.
Riley will join alongside Blunt and Cruise as one of the soldiers in action.

Sorry ladies, Tom Hardy is taken and her name is Charlotte Riley. The Brit actress met the actor on the set of the TV series "The Take" and the next thing you knew they were falling in love and cast together as Heathcliff and Catherine in "Wuthering Heights." And while Hardy has since seen his star shoot into the stratosphere, his fiancée hasn't quite had the same trajectory. But her next gig should see her profile take a considerable boost. Variety reports that the actress has nabbed the co-starring role in the upcoming sci-fi flick, "All You Need Is Kill," alongside Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt. Not bad...not bad at all. Set to be directed by Doug Liman, this long-brewing project is an adaptation of the Hiroshi Sakurazaka novel that follows a soldier in an alien war who finds himself living his last day in battle over and over...

Charlotte Riley has, until now, been known mostly for her TV work in the likes of The Take and Dci Banks. She’s just nabbed what could be her biggest break, however, scoring a role alongside Tom Cruise in Doug Liman’s All You Need Is Kill. Liman and writers Dw Harper, Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Joby Harold have adapted Hiroshi Sakurazaka’s futuristic graphic novel, which finds a soldier battling aliens who is forced to relive his last day over and over.As he goes through various training programs and fights the battle time and again, he starts to figure out how to be a better trooper.Riley joins Emily Blunt in the brigade and both will be fighting alongside Cruise when Liman starts shooting this October at Leavesden Studios. On 20 July, The Dark Knight Rises will hit cinema screens, already hyped beyond recognition and with a sense of feral anticipation beyond the wildest dreams of any executive or marketing firm. At the forefront of the action is one Edward Thomas Hardy, Aka Tom Hardy, who’s star will rise to it’s highest ever point as the potentially unforgettable cinema juggernaut Bane, a villain inspiring fear and adulation among fans before a single reel of film has been shown.

Actors pick up knighthood and Cbe while Pm revives British Empire Medal as reward for 'big society' volunteers
David Cameron's "big society" gong, the anachronistically named British Empire Medal, makes its first appearance for 20 years in the Queen's birthday honours today, rewarding "hands-on" service to local communities.
As actors Kenneth Branagh and Kate Winslet collect a knighthood and Cbe respectively, 293 BEMs, known as the "working-class gong" and scrapped by John Major in 1991 in his efforts to make the honours system "classless", are also awarded.
Revived by Cameron to encourage the "big society" and reward volunteering, Bem recipients include waitress Patricia Carter, for services to the hospitality industry, apiarist Geoffrey Hopkinson, for services to beekeeping, and many others involved with local community work, charities, and sports.
Sir Bob Kerslake, head of the civil service who chairs the main honours committee, said the re-introduction of the Bem for the Diamond Jubilee extended...

2012 is a big year for Britain, what with the Olympics looming large and failure at Euro 2012 almost a dead cert. It is also a big year for British cinema, and in particular their actors. With Daniel Radcliffe running around a house for an hour and a half in The Woman In Black, Jamie Bell putting in a decent effort in Man On A Ledge, and Ray Winstone’s stellar performances in the Bet 365 adverts, Britain is calling out for a new, brilliant actor.
And that’s where Tom Hardy comes in.
Granted, he’s been knocking around for a while now, but 2012 is a big year for him too. It wasn’t until 2008 when he really became noted in the mainstream for his acting thanks to his haunting, frightening and downright scary portrayal infamous prisoner of Charles Bronson in Bronson, but there were signs of his talent right from the outset.

A couple of weeks back we heard Bond 23 screenwriter John Logan heavily hint towards a familiar villainous face returning to torment the world’s most famous spy in the next 007 movie that begins filming very soon. Right now director Sam Mendes and his Bond team are kicking pre-production into a higher gear, recently securing up shooting locations and no doubt putting the last minute casting details in place. We could be just days away from a firm title announcement on the film along with a reveal over who the new villain is. Could it be a return for Blofeld for the first time since the early 80′s?
So as we like to do around here with our Fantasy Casting series, we have put our heads together collectively and come up with 10 actors who really would make great contenders to stroke that white cat and plot world domination.

Tomorrow, Sky 1 brings Martina Cole’s gritty crime novel The Runaway to the screen, with the first in a six-part drama, which will star a liberal smattering of British talent including Alan Cumming, Joanna Vanderham and volatile relative new-comer Jack O’ Connell. And lucky devil that I am, I’ve got my hands on the first two episodes for an early review.
If you haven’t yet come across any of the pre-release marketing, the official Sky synopsis goes like this:
East London kids Cathy Connor (Vanderham) and Eamonn Docherty (O’Connell) dream of a brighter future. But their hopes are shattered when Cathy is sent into care and then compelled to run away and forced to survive on the streets of Soho. Befriended by colourful transvestite Desrae (Cumming), Cathy grows up in the heart of London’s underworld, while Eamonn is drawn into a life of crime and ultimately flees to New York.

When the announcement of Tom Hardy’s inclusion in Chris Nolan’s third and final Batman film was initially made, the rumour hounds went crazy over who he would play, with the top three options lining up as The Riddler, Hugo Strange and Bane, with the masked muscle-bound madman coming in a distant third in that particular race. So it wasn’t hugely surprising to find a vocal and vociferous opposition to the further announcement that the Brit would indeed be taking on the role of he who is often referred to as the anti-Batman.
But, given the time to reflect on the decision, and the way Bane (and also Anne Hathaway’s Selina Kyle) will fit in with the rest of the Nolan universe, I think the casting is genius. And here, my Batman-loving friends, is why:

Tom Hardy has reportedly split from actress fiancee Charlotte Riley. The couple, who got engaged last July after dating for one year, reportedly broke up last month although the "Inception" actor is said to be desperate to rekindle their relationship.
"Tom and Charlotte broke up last month," a source told the Metro newspaper. "He has been calling her a lot to try to patch things up."
Tom and 28-year-old Charlotte first met on the set of the TV adaptation of "Wuthering Heights" when they were cast as star-crossed lovers before going on to work together again in television drama "The Take".
Speculation about the couple's relationship has been mounting after Tom failed to make an appearance at Sunday's (February 13) BAFTAs where he won the Orange Wednesdays Rising Star Award. He is said to have sent an apology blaming "personal commitments" for his absence.
Gossip Cop, however, begged to differ on the split report.

The Hollywood Reporter has released what they claim is a shortlist of actresses under consideration for a role in the next Batman installment, The Dark Knight Rises. Some of Hollywood's most popular actresses, including Jessica Biel and Keira Knightley, are on the shortlist, as are a number of up-and-coming actresses.
According to the THR article, the list includes Biel, Knightley, Anne Hathaway (Princess Diaries), and Gemma Arterton (Clash of the Titans, Prince of Persia). Two lesser known actresses, Kate Mara (Entourage, We are Marshall) and Charlotte Riley (The Take) are also under consideration.
There are reportedly two major female roles in Dark Knight Rises to fill, including a romantic lead and possibly the role of Talia, the daughter of Batman Begins villain Ra's Al Ghul who is reportedly appearing in the next film.

Is the guessing game finally over? Is Talia Al Ghul a major cog in The Dark Knight Rises, perhaps even the main villain? Is director Chris Nolan purposefully connecting his first movie Batman Begins, with this, his final one?
The Hollywood Reporter have heard from ‘inside sources’ that Talia Al Ghul, daughter of Liam Neeson’s Ra’s Al Ghul, is one of the two suggested female parts in the new film.
Keira Knightley, Anne Hathaway (two we’ve heard before) and new names… Jessica Biel, Gemma Arterton, Kate Mara and Charlotte Riley (interestingly, she is engaged to Tom Hardy… who was the first new actor cast) are all due to screen test at Warner Bros. in the next two weeks.
Talia Al Ghul has been a firm fan favourite amongst Owf readers for The Dark Knight Rises, topping a recent poll we ran, and is constantly spoken of in the talkback suggestions.

Speaking to journalists during promotion for Inception, Tom Hardy answered a few questions on the upcoming fourth installment in the Mad Max franchise: Fury Road. ComingSoon carries the full interview and, though the specifics are sparse, there are still a few key points to focus on:
We have to take it differently, as George [Miller, director and creator of all the installments] is taking it. It’s a relaunch and revisit to the world. An entire restructuring. That’s not to say that it’s not picking up or leaving off from the Mad Max you know already, but it’s a nice re-take on the entire world using the same character, depositing him in the same world, but bringing him up to date by 30 years.
This seems to go hand-in-hand with the only official news on the project so far – that the film will take place a short while after the events of Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome.

London -- "Grey's Anatomy" star Sandra Oh will head the cast in Sky 1's fall police thriller "thorne: scaredy cat," alongside David Morrissey, Eddie Marsan and Aidan Gillen. The project will premiere on Sky and then seek international theatrical release.
Oh will play Detective Sergeant Sandra Chen, part of a London cop squad investigating a grisly series of murders that take place around London's St Pancras station.
The three-part drama is a sequel to "thorne: sleepyhead," which also starred Natascha McElhone. Both will premiere on Sky 1 HD in the fall and will then be released as two separate movies, to be distributed by ContentFilm.
Based on the award-winning crime novels of Mark Billingham, the series sees Morrissey play Detective Inspector Tom Thorne.
Both films are produced by Jolyon Symonds for Stagereel, the indie producer he jointly set up with Paul and Morrissey. It is a co-production with Canadian producer Cite-Amerique.
