I thought that the 2025 movie "Woods of Ash" was a horror movie, given it's cover. And thus, of course, I opted to watch the movie, as I enjoy the horror genre and always did.
Writers Casey Hamilton and Joe Hamilton delivered a script and storyline that was rather boring and slow paced. This was a thriller and not a horror movie, so points lost right then and there. I was not particularly entertained by the movie, as the narrative fell short of being interesting. And the slow pacing of the narrative didn't exactly help scaling up the movie either.
I was not familiar with the cast ensemble in the movie. And that is actually something that spoke in favor of the movie, as I enjoy watching new and unfamiliar talents on the screen. The acting performances in "Woods of Ash", despite of the bland narrative, were fair.
The movie does have good production value, which definitely does something for the overall enjoyment of the movie, not much, but something.
"Woods of Ash" was a semi-watchable movie, but I have to say that writers Casey Hamilton and Joe Hamilton failed to deliver a script that catered to my liking.
The movie's cover was actually rather cool, but it was also ultimately the best part about the ordeal.
My rating of director Joe Hamilton's 2025 thriller "Woods of Ash" lands on a three out of ten stars.
