A lot of Nathan Fielder’s work seems to be shrouded in mystery these days — from the surreal ending of last year’s The Curse, to the upcoming second season of The Rehearsal, to the recent news that Fielder has been visiting Elizabeth Holmes in prison for a “top-secret” project that may be a documentary. Or perhaps just an article for The Diarrhea Times?
But possibly even more perplexing is the fact that Fielder helmed a feature film that’s barely seen the light of day. Tucked amongst his credits on the Internet Movie Database is a 2008 documentary, directed by Fielder, called Love and Cameras in America. According to the synopsis on IMDb, the film answers the question, “What happens when a man with virtually no experience making movies and no interest in politics is sent to make a documentary about the 2008 United States presidential election?” Noting that “for better or for worse,...

The Rehearsal is set to return to HBO on April 20. The comedy docuseries from Nathan Fielder (The Curse) first aired in 2022 and won an Independent Spirit Award for Best New Non-Scripted or Documentary Series. Part Curb Your Enthusiasm-style improv comedy, part reality show, The Rehearsal is a truly special show. It starts off with a similar vibe to something like Bar Rescueor Kitchen Nightmares, but with a slightly more goofy and awkward feel. But, as it goes on it becomes more personal, more layered, and more elaborate until it feels more akin to Charlie Kaufman’s film Synecdoche, New Yorkthan it does to a reality show. There’s no other show quite like The Rehearsal. It’s well worth catching up on Max before it returns so you can experience whatever twists and surprises Season 2 has in store week-to-week.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a franchise known for huge action blockbusters, with some deviations to their formula for applicable content, while A24 is an independent movie and television company that prioritizes an auteur’s aesthetic as well as more intimate character dynamics. Marvel capitalizes on a specific opportunity with Thunderbolts* and framed its latest marketing material for the upcoming movie within the context of the cast and crew’s A24 connection.
Kevin Feige and the MCU decision-makers clearly perceive A24 productions as having a niche filmmaking advantage, at least in terms of a project’s quality. And most importantly, the filmmakers may have purposefully brought some of those cinematic practices and perspectives to Thunderbolts*.
After all, the Thor trailer does not highlight director Kenneth Branagh’s Shakespearian background, and the advertisements for Avenger epics do not point out that many of the stars are Oscar nominees. This Thunderbolts* campaign...

As one of the most popular television shows in recent memory, HBO’s black comedy-drama anthology series The White Lotus immediately garnered widespread acclaim for its depiction of psychosocial interactions, top-notch performances from its expansive cast, gorgeous production design, and the satirical tone within each season that hooks viewers with every episode. Though few series can replicate the show's unique appeal, there are still plenty of other TV series that should appeal to its viewers.
With a clear focus on characterization, nuanced writing and ample amounts of comedy and drama, The White Lotus offers viewers a lot to enjoy. As its third season approaches its conclusion, these programs should offer a similarly engaging watching experience.

Did you know that Emma Stone’s real name isn’t Emma? (Photo Credit – Facebook)
Emma Stone is ready to reclaim her real name—Emily. The Oscar-winning actress shared that she’d prefer to be called by her birth name, Emily Jean Stone. But Hollywood made that tricky. Emma—sorry, Emily—had to switch names when she joined the SAG-AFTRA union.
The rule? No two actors can have the same name in the system. And since another Emily Stone was already registered, she had to pick something else. Her first choice was Riley Stone. But it just did not feel right to her. Her solution? Emma, inspired by her childhood favorite, Emma Bunton (a.k.a. Baby Spice). But looks like, she’s ready to switch back.
Stone also spoke about the name issue in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter alongside her The Curse co-star Nathan Fielder. He mentioned that he calls her Emily,...

Are you ready?
“The Rehearsal” Season 2 will debut on HBO and Max on April 20. The network also released a teaser trailer for Nathan Fielder’s surreal and twisted dark comedy series, which helps real people prepare for life’s biggest moments through freakishly high-budget simulations.
In the 20-second clip, Fielder, reprising his laptop harness from Season 1, oversees the dressing of a set — five identical rooms replicated in some warehouse. Per HBO, in Season 2 of the series, “the urgency of Fielder’s project grows as he decides to put his resources toward an issue that affects us all.”
In Season 1 of “The Rehearsal,” Fielder helps a man admit to his trivia team that he has, for years, been lying about having a master’s degree. To rehearse for the confession, Fielder constructed an exact replica of a Brooklyn bar and hired actors to play the man’s friends. The season took...

In Episode 13 of The Curse of Oak Island Season 12, Caissons Ho!, the Lagina brothers and the dedicated Fellowship of the Dig embarked on a pivotal chapter in their quest to unravel the island’s treasure mystery.
The episode dives into a monumental excavation effort in the Money Pit area.
Additionally, intriguing discoveries across Oak Island hinted at connections to historical treasure deposits.
The episode’s centerpiece was the launch of a large-scale dig in the Money Pit, targeting the fabled Chappell Vault. Treasure hunter Frederick Blair and his drilling operator William Chappell first encountered it in 1897 at a depth of 153 feet. It is a seven-foot-high, concrete-encased chest.
After months of groundwork, including core drilling and groundwater testing that revealed man-made workings and precious metals over 150 feet underground, the team pinpointed multiple promising locations.
With Vanessa Lucido from Roc Equipment’s aid, they deployed seven-foot-diameter steel caissons, aiming to bore down over 200 feet if needed.

While SNL50 was a hit for NBC and Peacock, at least two Saturday Night Live alums have contracted Covid.
On Thursday, Steve Martin revealed his comedy partner Martin Short has tested positive for coronavirus, along with Maya Rudolph, rescheduling dates on his and Short’s The Dukes Of Funnytown! Tour.
“Maya had Covid. Marty has Covid. I wonder why? The SNL 50th Covid curse is real,” wrote Martin on Instagram with a photo of Short and Rudolph sharing a friendly kiss at the anniversary special taping.
“Unfortunately, we have to reschedule our sold out Durham and Knoxville dates to 10/17 Knoxville and 10/18 Durham,” added Martin. “So sorry for the inconvenience. I think we’ll be funnier then, anyway.”
Martin, a frequent SNL host, was joined by Short (briefly an SNL cast member from 1984-’85) as he gave a hilarious monologue during Sunday’s SNL50: The Anniversary Special, which saw 14.8 million viewers across Peacock and NBC.

The company did not provide streaming-specific numbers, but the claim is supported by the 27% increase in total viewers over the weekend.

Way back in 1986, when "Star Trek: The Next Generation" was still in development, the original casting sheets called for actresses to play a 15-year-old character named Leslie Crusher, the daughter of Dr. Beverly Crusher. "Her remarkable mind and photographic memory," the character rundown read, "make it seem not unlikely for her to become, at 15, a Starfleet acting-ensign. Otherwise, she is a normal teenager." As casting and development continued, however, Leslie was transformed into a teenage boy named Wesley, and more closely modeled after Gene Roddenberry's own 15-year-old self (Roddenberry's middle name is Wesley).
Wesley wasn't widely liked by Trekkies, as he seemed too much like a brown-noser. He was too eager to please the adults in his life, too well-behaved, and definitely too smart. Fans point to the instances wherein a teenage boy, working with the best and brightest in Starfleet, managed to be the only one to solve a massively difficult space conundrum.

This post contains spoilers for "Your Honor."
"Your Honor" wasn't quite the hit that star Bryan Cranston's previous drama series, "Breaking Bad," was. But when your drama series is on Showtime (now Paramount+ with Showtime), it's at somewhat of a disadvantage in terms of its reach — which is why the excellent, savage satire that was "The Curse" never got the support it deserved. Luckily, after the series wrapped up in 2023, "Your Honor" got a Netflix boost when it hit the streamer back in July 2024, making it a much more widely-viewed show than it ever was before.
That's a good thing, too. As widowed New Orleans judge Michael Desiato, Cranston was characteristically brilliant, delivering an arresting performance that demanded a lot from the actor as he rendered the Judge's transformation from morally upstanding citizen to compromised criminal. After his own son, Adam (Hunter Doohan), admits to killing a young man...

Actress Emma Stone has been a staple in Hollywood for many years, after skyrocketing to fame with comedies like Superbad (2007) and Easy A (2010). She continued to make a name for herself in the industry with dozens of other roles and won two Academy Awards for Best Actress, for La La Land in 2017 and Poor Things in 2024. However, she's more than just a movie star — she's dominating the field behind the camera as well.

Found footage is a horror movie subgenre that has always teetered on the line between fact and fiction, using techniques like handheld cameras and unscripted dialogue to add an extra level of authenticity to the film. Horror films like The Blair Witch Projectand Cannibal Holocaust proved how convincing the concept of found footage can be, leading their audiences to believe the events seen on screen happened. A found footage offspring, known as mockumentaries, is made in the style of a documentary. These features analyze a fictitious person or event using "personal recorded footage" and "interviews" as a means to tell their stories.
The mockumentary format has been used in a variety of film genres. However, horror has been able to effectively use this setup to a point where it would not be a stretch to stream one of these movies and believe that everything unfolding on screen has happened. Whether...

The following contains spoilers for Companion, in theaters on Jan. 31, 2025.
Writer-director Drew Hancock’s feature debut Companion uses a beautiful blend of genres to craft a total condemnation of misogyny. Horror, comedy, thriller and sci-fi are all duly represented in the movie that will give audiences plenty to think about when it comes to gender roles and perception in society. Hancock's storytelling is ably supported by the efforts of the movie's two stars, who understand the lengths to which the film is determined to go.
Companion follows a beautiful young woman named Iris (Yellowjackets and Heretic star Sophie Thatcher), who is head over heels for her boyfriend, Josh (The Hunger Games alum Jack Quaid). For all intents and purposes, he seems to be a nice guy -- but when the couple head to a remote cabin in the woods to spend the weekend with some of Josh’s friends, the...

If you think the stars of La La Land and Black Widow are the only ones with fat paychecks, think again. Well, it seems for Sophie Rain, money is absolutely laughing all the way to the bank. While Hollywood A-listers like Emma Stone and Scarlett Johansson have made their millions from blockbuster flicks, Rain is cashing in big on a whole different platform—OnlyFans.

Rain, a rising social media influencer and OnlyFans model, recently made headlines when she revealed a mind-blowing $43.4 million in earnings over just the past year. Yes, $43.4 million! That seems to be more than most big-budget movie stars make from a single film, let alone an entire year of work. But did you know what—Rain might be pulling in more cash than Stone and Johansson, but she’s still not the highest-paid OnlyFans model.

Emma Stone might be in a whole bunch of your favorite movies — but what are her favorites?
In January 2024, Stone spoke to Letterboxd — the social media site centered around movies — about her "four favorites," a regular interview the outlet does with major Hollywood celebrities. After appearing visibly stressed by the prospect of only picking four movies, Stone responds that Charlie Chaplin's 1931 comedy "City Lights" is her all-time favorite movie. "I love 'Network,'" Stone continued, name-checking the 1976 dark comedy that won Best Picture at the 49th Academy Awards in 1977. "'Mikey and Nicky,' I just saw it for the first time a couple of weeks ago," Stone raved, citing Elaine May's movie (also from 1976) about a mobster and his best friend (played by John Cassavetes and Peter Falk). "I love almost every Cassavetes movie — that one wasn't Cassavetes, he's just in it. It's obviously Elaine May, who's a genius,...

As far as eye-catching ways to steer attention towards your latest project go, Seth Rogen has certainly hit upon one of the more unique ones we've seen in recent times. The writer-director-star of The Studio, a new 10-part Apple TV+ comedy that takes a satirical swipe at the movie industry, today dropped the first teaser trailer for his and frequent co-conspirator Evan Goldberg's new show. And whilst it may not tell us a hell of a lot about Rogen's Matt Renick, the new head honcho at the fictitious Continental Studios, it does see the Pineapple Express funnyman get trash talked by a laundry list of industry heroes — including, but not limited to, Martin Scorsese, Charlize Theron, and Anthony Mackie. Check it out below:
"I love movies," says Rogen's Renick at the start of this snappy minute-long teaser, flanked by palm trees and backed by some punchy brass on the soundtrack,...

The first season of Nathan Fielders The Rehearsal went off in its own direction, but now that season 2 is confirmed to be happening, it can finally realize the shows juicy original premise. Much like Fielders other series, Nathan for You and The Curse, The Rehearsal is a totally unique TV experiment thats unlike any other show on the air. Its a documentary series that blurs the line between fiction and reality as it constructs convoluted fantasies to force participants to face their very real problems.
The Rehearsal season 1 started out with a fascinating conceit of using elaborate setups to prepare people for difficult situations. But season 1 quickly deviated from that premise and became a full-time parenting simulation. HBO renewed The Rehearsal for a second season way back in 2022 after season 1 aired. Set in the tumultuous 1960s, The Curse of the Necklace follows the Davis family as they grapple with personal struggles and a sinister supernatural threat. Laura Davis recently separated from her alcoholic husband Frank, taking their daughters Ellen and Judy to start a new chapter. Still hoping to reconcile, Frank tries winning Laura back with a beautiful antique necklace. But little does the family know this “gift” harbors a dark secret with grave consequences.
The film immerses viewers in the unsteady period of the late 1960s through the lens of the Davis family’s upheaval. Sarah Lind delivers a grounded portrayal of Laura, a mother striving to shield her children from the fallout of her estranged relationship.
Violet and Madeleine McGraw similarly give authentic performances as sisters adapting to their changing family dynamic. Henry Thomas also turns in a compelling portrayal of Frank, conveying the complexity of a spouse torn between remorse and volatile tendencies.

Way back in March of 1927, famed writer Hp Lovecraft wrote the science-fiction/horror short story The Colour Out of Space. In the story, a meteorite crashes in the fictional town of Arkham, Massachusetts. Fifty years later, the people who lived there suffered greatly. Their crops grow bountiful but rotten on the inside, their animals become mutated, and eventually, they themselves are driven to insanity and death. Not only was this Lovecraft’s favorite personal short story but would become one of his most well-regarded works. Sixty years later, in 1987, a film based on Lovecraft’s short story went into production under the title The Farm. What would follow was the financial failure of a movie with stories behind the scenes more grotesque than its monsters. Yet, it still somehow spawned three even more unheard-of and totally unconnected sequels. This is the story of What the F*ck Happened to The Curse?...

It sounds crazy at first, but what if Halloween III: Season of the Witch really was part of the Michael Myers timeline?
Released in 1982, Halloween III: Season of the Witch is famously the only film in the Halloween franchise without Michael Myers. The movie shifted gears to tell a standalone story, one rooted in science fiction and folk horror rather than the slasher violence Myers embodies. But some fans have theorised that Season of the Witch could actually tie into Michael Myers’ story—if we imagine that the film’s Silver Shamrock corporation helped create the unkillable monster we know today. And it’s not as impossible as it might sound.
This theory, which emerged online in recent years, has reenergised fans of Season of the Witch and sparked discussions about how far the Halloween mythos could stretch. What if Michael’s superhuman resilience and relentless desire to kill had...

There’s nothing like the first time. Your first published novel. Your first Prom. First telekinetic murder spree. Whatever. In the case of the 1974 novel, Carrie, it was Stephen King’s first time having a book published. It would also be the first piece of his work to ever grace the silver screen. Carrie would be released in 1976 on its way to becoming an all-time horror classic. In the film, Sissy Spacek plays an extremely shy and sheltered High School girl who is bullied relentlessly at home and school. At home, her mother is a complete and total nutbar salad who has weaponized her religious beliefs against her daughter. She locks her in the closet with this little coked-out Jesus statue and has for all intents and purposes ruined her chance at a normal life. One day at school, Carrie gets her period for the first time while in the community showers.
