A lot of Nathan Fielder’s work seems to be shrouded in mystery these days — from the surreal ending of last year’s The Curse, to the upcoming second season of The Rehearsal, to the recent news that Fielder has been visiting Elizabeth Holmes in prison for a “top-secret” project that may be a documentary. Or perhaps just an article for The Diarrhea Times?

But possibly even more perplexing is the fact that Fielder helmed a feature film that’s barely seen the light of day. Tucked amongst his credits on the Internet Movie Database is a 2008 documentary, directed by Fielder, called Love and Cameras in America. The Rehearsal is set to return to HBO on April 20. The comedy docuseries from Nathan Fielder (The Curse) first aired in 2022 and won an Independent Spirit Award for Best New Non-Scripted or Documentary Series. Part Curb Your Enthusiasm-style improv comedy, part reality show, The Rehearsal is a truly special show. It starts off with a similar vibe to something like Bar Rescueor Kitchen Nightmares, but with a slightly more goofy and awkward feel. But, as it goes on it becomes more personal, more layered, and more elaborate until it feels more akin to Charlie Kaufman’s film Synecdoche, New Yorkthan it does to a reality show. There’s no other show quite like The Rehearsal. It’s well worth catching up on Max before it returns so you can experience whatever twists and surprises Season 2 has in store week-to-week.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a franchise known for huge action blockbusters, with some deviations to their formula for applicable content, while A24 is an independent movie and television company that prioritizes an auteur’s aesthetic as well as more intimate character dynamics. Marvel capitalizes on a specific opportunity with Thunderbolts* and framed its latest marketing material for the upcoming movie within the context of the cast and crew’s A24 connection.

Kevin Feige and the MCU decision-makers clearly perceive A24 productions as having a niche filmmaking advantage, at least in terms of a project’s quality. And most importantly, the filmmakers may have purposefully brought some of those cinematic practices and perspectives to Thunderbolts*.

In Episode 13 of The Curse of Oak Island Season 12, Caissons Ho!, the Lagina brothers and the dedicated Fellowship of the Dig embarked on a pivotal chapter in their quest to unravel the island’s treasure mystery.

The episode dives into a monumental excavation effort in the Money Pit area.

Additionally, intriguing discoveries across Oak Island hinted at connections to historical treasure deposits.

The episode’s centerpiece was the launch of a large-scale dig in the Money Pit, targeting the fabled Chappell Vault. Treasure hunter Frederick Blair and his drilling operator William Chappell first encountered it in 1897 at a depth of 153 feet. It is a seven-foot-high, concrete-encased chest.

Way back in 1986, when "Star Trek: The Next Generation" was still in development, the original casting sheets called for actresses to play a 15-year-old character named Leslie Crusher, the daughter of Dr. Beverly Crusher. Peacock is diving into the world of counterfeit luxury goods with its latest series pickup.

In 2023, Ju won her first Emmy for Beef, which triumphed as that year’s Outstanding Limited Series. She co-executive produced the Netflix series that stars Steven Yeun and Ali Wong.

This new pact expands upon the creative relationship between Fruit Tree and Universal that includes a recently announced untitled film starring Stone to be directed by McCary for Universal.

Director Mike Flanagan has adapted several works by Stephen King over his career to date, and now he’s at it again. According to Deadline, Mike Flanagan is teaming up with King once again to adapt his classic novel Carrie as an eight part television series for Amazon Prime.

Carrie, the story of a lonely, abused, bullied girl who acquires telekinetic powers, was previously adapted into a film in 1976 by Brian De Palma, with Sissy Spacek taking on the title role alongside Piper Laurie as her mother. The Rage: Carrie 2, which was an original screenplay called The Curse that was hurriedly rewritten into a Carrie sequel, was released in 1999 to critical and commercial failure. A remake arrived in 2013, starring Chloe Grace Moretz and Julianne Moore.
