DreamWorks Animation released a new trailer for Voltron: Legendary Defender and revealed that it will premiere on Netflix on August 4th! I've been an avid watcher of this series. I seriously think it's one of the best-animated shows that you can watch right now.
If you've been enjoying the series as well, then you'll be happy to know that we will at least be getting a total of six seasons with a total of 78 episodes. I imagine that the creative team behind the show already has an end game that they are working toward. I'm excited for Season 3 and to continue on this fun and exciting journey with these great characters.
Prince Loto arrives at a time when Shiro is missing and the Voltron team becomes unable to form the giant robot.

Voltron, was an American cartoon which premiered in 1985. It utilized footage from the 1981 Japanese anime series Hyaku Jūō Goraion (Beast King GoLion). The two shows have vastly different storylines but share the same battle footage (similar to how Power Rangers repackages Sūpā Sentai Shirīzu (the Super Sentai Series). The second season of Voltron, which forms the giant robot from vehicles instead of Lions, uses footage from Kikō Kantai Dairagā Fifutīn (Armored Fleet Dairugger Xv). Dreamworks Animation purchased the rights to Voltron in 2012 and the animated Netflix series was announced in April 2016. Lauren Montgomery (Superman: Doomsday, Green Lantern: First Flight) and Joaquim Dos Santos (Justice League Unlimited, Avatar: The Last Airbender) serve as showrunners. A little over a decade ago, writers Paul Dini ("Batman: The Brave and the Bold") and Alan Burnett ("Green Lantern: First Flight") were hired by Warner Bros. to write a screenplay for a live-action film adaptation of the popular animated series, Batman Beyond. Warner Bros. even hired the Remember the Titans director, Boaz Yakin, to co-write and direct. A year later, WB would put the project on hold, going in a different direction. Dini discusses that project with Kevin Smith, and his pitch for a Ra's al Ghul-oriented Batman film that was never made. Terry McGinnis was just an ordinary teenager.... until his father was mysteriously murdered. Suspecting foul play at his father's company Wayne/Powers Corporation, Terry meets Bruce Wayne and learns a secret identity hidden for decades. Now too old to battle injustice, Wayne refuses to help. So Terry does what any brash young kid would...

The Wrap have learned exclusively that due to the current downturn of the home entertainment industry, Warner Bros. has shut down its direct-to-video label Warner Premiere this summer. "Given the continuing decline in the direct-to-video film market and shifting business models in the production of digital series, the decision was made to close Warner Premiere," the studio said in a statement to TheWrap. The site goes on to report that the division will finish production on its remaining film and digital series slate this Fall. Since 2007, Warner Premiere has released Superman: Doomsday, Justice League: The New Frontier, Batman: Gotham Knight, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern: First Flight, Superman/Batman: Public Enemies, Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths, Batman: Under the Red Hood, Superman/Batman: Apocalypse and most recently Superman vs. The Elite. Somewhere between the Vesuvian nerdsplosion that is San Diego Comic-Con and the Mets-like hometown disappointment of its New York cousin lies the spirited and sensational WonderCon. Usually located in San Francisco, this year WonderCon is happening in Anaheim, a place I just now learned is not a section of L.A. (They have their own post office and everything.)
If you aren't going (like, how do you even get to Anaheim?) properly timed check-ins to ye olde Internet ought to net some cool breaking news, as well as Twitpics of Power Girl/Poison Ivy/Zatanna cosplay. (I call that one the Neopolitan.)
Here are the 13 things you want to keep an eye on.
Friday

Unless Gandalf is keeping new footage of "The Hobbit" under his (very tall, pointy) hat you won't see clips at new WonderCon, but Lotr fanatics can still check...

Justice League: Doom I've complained before about the inexplicable need for the DC Animated Universe features to be so bloody short. Only the anthology Green Lantern: Emerald Knights has run over 80 minutes and at least two (Batman: Year One and Superman/Batman: Public Enemies) were barely an hour. For whatever reason, the 13 features since late 2007 have all hovered around the 75 minute mark, and it's almost always been a point of contention. But this time around, that truncated running time has become a fatal flaw, as this loose adaptation of a 2000 Justice League of America arc ends up sacrificing the entire dramatic crux of the story. All that's left, while not boring, is a rather route pure action tale with one large-scale set piece after another. And by holding off the story's key reveal until near the end of the picture, the film ends up being a giant set-up to...

Even with its second underwhelming weekend in the books, Green Lantern's soft start is apparently not deterring Warner Bros from proceeding with a sequel.
A year ago, it was reported that the writers were already mapping out a further instalment. But that looked in doubt when the film opened with $53m in the USA, a figure below the $60m minimum that Warner Bros executives needed to guarantee another film.
Sources have now told The Hollywood Reporter that the studio "still believes in the franchise, even if it is somewhat disappointed with Green Lantern's result."
The Lantern's box office has certainly been rather dim. Ticket sales plummeted by 72 per cent from the first Friday to the second Friday, and by 66 per cent when comparing the first two weekends.

The cast of "Man Of Steel," Zack Snyder's upcoming reboot of the Superman film franchise, has been filling out quite nicely in recent weeks, with another well-known actor joining the production this weekend.
As first reported by Deadline, "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" actor Christopher Meloni will join the "Man Of Steel" cast in an unspecified role. While the initial report simply indicated that he would play a "major role" in the film, Meloni later told Vulture that he will play a general in the military and dismissed rumors that he would become the new face of Superman's arch enemy, Lex Luthor.
Meloni surprised "Law & Order" fans last month by announcing that the 12th season of "S.V.U." would be his last, though it's hard to argue with a decision that puts him in line for a film in which he'll act alongside such notable thespians as Kevin Costner,...

No word yet on what part he might get, though. The Hollywood Reporter's sources indicate he will shoot scenes with Henry Cavill. Christopher Meloni, 50, though known for his Detective Law & Order: Special Victims Unit role, has also appeared in HBO's prison drama Oz and recently voiced Hal Jordan in DC's animated Green Lantern: First Flight film. DC's animation department has done a terrific job with all of their animated features showcasing some of the biggest names in DC's library, and the next film in this legacy is the anthology style film, Green Lantern: Emerald Knights. When I popped this into my Blu-ray player, honestly, I wasn't sure to expect. I've been a fan, overall, of the DC animated films and their adaptation of All-Star Superman was almost perfect, it captured the heart and story of the comic while also making things cohesive for the animated medium.

Green Lantern: Emerald Knights, the eleventh film to be released by DC Universe Animated Original Movies, is an interesting new idea for the studio and for DC Comics. The timing is hard to ignore -- the Ryan Reynolds-starring live-action motion picture, Green Lantern, gets released this Friday, while Emerald Knights came out last week -- just in time. This is particularly notable since Emerald Knights is, while not an origin story of Hal Jordan (that tale can be found in the rather unremarkable Green Lantern: First Flight), something of a primer for the universe of the Green Lantern Corps. It's almost like an extended, animated introduction.
Instead of being a conventional narrative like most of the other DC Animated films, Green Lantern: Emerald Knights is more like an anthology. There's a single, overarching storyline, which involves the reappearance of Krona, an ancient enemy of the Green Lantern Corps that...

Green Lantern: Emerald Knights, the latest animated feature from DC Universe, has more in common with Batman: Gotham Knight than, say, Green Lantern: First Flight. Both Emerald Knights and Gotham Knight were released alongside new feature films from DC/Warner Bros. (The Dark Knight and the upcoming Green Lantern movie), there is the obvious connection of their respective titles, and their format is largely the same (loosely connected short segments).
As with Gotham Knight, some longtime fans of Green Lantern may feel that Emerald Knights has little to offer; for new fans who have gained interest in Green Lantern by way of his feature film, Green Lantern: Emerald Knights will be a fitting and welcome introduction to the character, as well as the expansive universe and mythos that go along ...

Michael Clarke Duncan has officially joined Green Lantern in the role of Kilowog. Latino Review had the news late last month and their scoop has since been confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter . Kilowog, a member of the Green Lantern Corps, is a hulking figure from the planet Bolovax Vik and has been a mainstay of the DC Universe since he first appeared in 1986. The voice of Kilowog was previously performed by Michael Madsen in the direct-to-dvd feature Green Lantern: First Flight . Duncan, still best known for his breakout performance in Frank Darabont's The Green Mile , most recently provided a voice in Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore . He joins Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard, Mark Strong, Angela Bassett, Tim Robbins, Temuera Morrison, Jay...

Disclaimer: Though the following paragraphs seem incredibly negative towards DC, understand this - I would love nothing more than a Justice League film. This article stems not from a Marvel hard-on but from sheer disappointment in the recent management of DC's properties on the screen.
Bold, Warner Brothers. Very bold. While it’s clear to the rest of the world why you feel compelled to announce a Justice League movie and decided to forego the gradual building to the big ensemble superhero flick, I have to say I'm perplexed by your belief that you'll be ready by 2013. But hell, if I had as many misfires on a project as you’ve had in trying to build up to a Justice League movie, I might have just yelled “Screw it!” and jumped to the end too. Unfortunately, that’s playing with fire.
The only successful comic book film franchise you’ve...

He was the target of a hard search from The Bride in "Kill Bill." Now actor Michael Madsen finds himself wanted by another woman in relation to his past sins. And this time, it's no movie.
An arrest warrant has been issued for "Sin City" and "Reservoir Dogs" star, who reportedly owes $570,000 in unpaid child and spousal support, according to TMZ.
The warrant, which under United States law allows for the arrest and detention of the accused by any law enforcement officer, was issued after the 53-year-old Madsen failed to show up for a hearing regarding his unpaid support last week.
Whether he ultimately turns himself in or gets caught and brought to jail, Madsen will have to pay a hefty fine to get back out,...

Warner Brother Home Entertainment has release a brand new image and trailer for the upcoming Green Lantern: Emerald Knights, an all-new DC Universe Animated Original Movie. The film weaves six interlocking stories of the Green Lantern Corps’ rich mythology around preparations for an attack by an ancient enemy. As the battle approaches, Hal Jordan (voiced by Nathan Fillion, Castle) mentors new recruit Arisia (Elisabeth Moss, Mad Men) in the history of the Green Lantern Corps, telling tales of Avra (the first Green Lantern) and several of Hal’s comrades – including Abin Sur, Kilowog, Laira and Mogo. In the end, Arisia must rise to the occasion to help Hal, Sinestro and the entire Green Lantern Corps save the universe from the destructive forces of Krona. Penned by comic book luminaries Geoff Johns, Dave Gibbons, Peter J. Tomasi, Eddie Berganza, Alan Burnett, Todd Casey and Michael Green & Marc Guggenheim, Green Lantern: Emerald Knights...

We've been following the development of "Green Lantern: Emerald Knights" for a while now, and with "All-Star Superman" hitting shelves this week, it's time to start looking toward DC's next animated, feature-length film.
The first official trailer for "Green Lantern: Emerald Knights" arrived online this week, and you can check it out below:
Debuting over at Yahoo Movies, the new trailer features a host of Green Lanterns taking on various threats and closes with the tagline "Witness The Color Of Will."
In the film, Nathan Fillion voices Hal Jordan, with Elisabeth Moss ("Mad Men") as Arisia, Henry Rollins as Kilowog, and various other notable actors voicing the heroes — and villains — of the Green Lantern Corps.
Late last year, we spoke to "Emerald Knights" producer Bruce Timm about the project, and while he stopped short of calling it a sequel to 2009's "Green Lantern: First Flight," he had this to say...

The first trailer for the DC universe animated film Green Lantern: Emerald Knights debuted today. Emerald Knights is an anthology of short animated films, in the same vein as the Batman: Gotham Knight film that coincided with the release of The Dark Knight. Similarly, this film will be released in the weeks leading up to the live action Green Lantern film on June 17th.
Emerald Knights focuses on the exploits of the Green Lantern Corps, the power ring wielding protectors of the universe. Slight consolation here for Nathan Fillion fans — the Firefly actor was a favourite to play Hal Jordan in Martin Campbell’s upcoming film — Fillion plays Jordan in this animated tale. The film also features Elizabeth Moss (Mad Men), Jason Isaacs (Harry Potter series) and in what could be the most awesome bit of casting ever, Henry Rollins as Kilowog.

Back before Ryan Reynolds was cast in the upcoming Green Lantern adaptation, fans were campaigning for Castle star Nathan Fillion to play the role, even creating a fan-made trailer starring Fillion as the emerald hero. Despite Fillion's similarity to the character of Hal Jordan, the actor lost out on the live-action role, but Warner Bros. has found an alternative for Fillion: voicing the character in an upcoming animated Green Lantern movie.

For whatever reason, comic book movie news tends to break in bursts, so in the interest of saving time -- daddy's got drinkin' to do, you brats -- here's today's comic book movie news round-up.
First and foremost, back in the formative days of the Green Lantern movie, fans were clamoring for Nathan Fillion to get the part, which ultimately went to the abtacularly glib Ryan Reynolds. Well, hope is not lost, Browncoats, for Fillion will get his hands on the power ring regardless. Of course, you won't actually see him wearing it... he's been cast as the voice of Green Lantern in DC Animated's upcoming Emerald Knights, the sequel to 2009's kind of dull Green Lantern: First Flight.
While he was voiced by "Law And Order's" Christopher Meloni in the first entry, Fillion is putting on the ring this time around. This isn't the first turn at voice...

Hey folks! It’s that time of year again, you may have endured the living hell that was Black Friday at your local retail stores but, that’s all over with. Now, it’s Cyber Monday and you get to shop from the comfort of home (or work, we won’t tell) and pick up some cool stuff at some sweet discounts.
If you haven’t made the switch to a flat screen HDTV, the time is definitely now. Amazon has a 32″ HDTV for less than $300, a 47″ for less than $600 and a Blu-ray player for less than $70 and of course, you get Free shipping. That’s not the Sci-Fi stuff (obviously) but, those were so cheap I had to include them for your benefit. So, check those out, along with some killer deals on DVD and Blu-ray movies, entire seasons of some of your favorite sci-fi shows, and some cool animated fare,...

Superman/Batman: Apocalypse is the ninth direct to DVD film from DC Universe Animated Original Movies, and it mostly continues the company's streak of producing solid, entertaining and surprisingly mature animated superhero fare. Once again, the team behind the film creates the kind of superhero movie we'll never be able to see in the theaters, and through generally strong writing, excellent animation, and brilliant action setpieces, it should satisfy most viewers, be they canonical fans or otherwise.
The story takes place immediately after one of DC's prior releases, Superman/Batman: Public Enemies. Lex Luthor, who previously wrangled his way to becoming President of the United States, has been impeached and all seems on its way to returning to normal -- at least as normal as things get in the DC universe. However, shortly after a clever newsreel bit that catches you up on the events of the last film,...

Later this year, DC is releasing an album including almost every DC movie, cartoon, and TV show theme song ever. 21 of the 31 tracks have never been released before, including Max Fleischer’s 1941 Superman theme, so if you’re a DC fan you’ll probably want this album. Some of the other tracks include unreleased music from Smallville, Justice League and Superfriends, and the CD will also include re-mastered versions of the Lois & Clark theme along with 7 different Batman themes. The album doesn’t include every single DC theme ever (as Topless Robot points out, the new Teen Titans theme is omitted) but it will have the vast majority of them. Hit the jump for a full track listing.

DC Animated Universe has to date shown a near-flawless track record for animated adaptations of DC heroes. With the exception of the middling Green Lantern: First Flight, they have, under the production tutelage of legendary animator Bruce Timm, thrived and continually impressed viewers and essentially cornered the direct-to-dvd superhero market. Their newest endeavor, Batman: Under The Red Hood may well be their finest work to date. A bold statement to be sure, but certainly a true one.
First and foremost: it is difficult to review this film without spoiling some of it -- I've already done so with the header pic, but I'll try... try... to keep any further spoilers to a minimum. That said, much of the content of the film is taken from the already-established Batman comic book canon (namely A Death In The Family and Under The Hood), so it won't be too much of a shock to regular comic book readers.
