An adult film star who rose to prominence on the popular OnlyFans website has died under tragic circumstances.

Anna Alves — who performed under the name Anna Polly — fell to her death from a hotel balcony in Brazil on Thursday. She was just 27 years old.

Police say Alves was filming a threesome sex scene at the time.

Scandinavian streaming service Viaplay is coming to Amazon’s Prime Video Channels in the U.K., starting on Tuesday.

The news comes after Viaplay closed its own app and direct-to-consumer streaming service in the U.K. in May, instead focusing its international distribution strategy “on building growth via partnerships and on bringing the best of Nordic and European storytelling to partnering aggregators and streamers around the world.” The live sports offerings previously available on Viaplay are now available on sports service Premier Sports.

Adam Lewis, founding member and bassist of the pop-punk band Fenix TX, has died at the age of 45.

Lewis’ passing was confirmed on Fenix TX’s official Instagram account. In a post, they revealed that he had died of pancreatic cancer on Wednesday, June 5th. The artist was diagnosed with the disease in 2021.

“We are heartbroken. There are no words that will do justice to the life Adam lived,” the band said. “We will do our best to honor his final wishes and make him proud. We love you Adam Lewis.”

Fenix TX has set up a memorial fund via GoFundMe as a means of raising money for Lewis’ family.

Born May 15th, 1979 in Texas, Lewis grew up in the Houston area, where he would ultimately meet many of his future bandmates. After dropping their 1997 debut album under the name Riverfenix, the band rebranded as Fenix TX and moved to Southern California.

Viaplay’s streaming service — specializing in award-winning Scandinavian series and films — is now available as an add-on subscription on Amazon’s Prime Video Channels in the United States.

Starting Wednesday, Prime members in the U.S. will be able to sign up for Viaplay for $5.99 per month (with a seven-day free trial available for eligible customers) through Prime Video Channels.

In February, Viaplay shut down its own app and direct-to-consumer streaming service in the U.S. and Canada, and the company has now focused its international distribution strategy in building growth via partnerships. Viaplay is already available in North America through partner platforms such as Comcast Xfinity, the Roku Channel and Xumo.

Viaplay said its U.S. content offering centers on “the Nordic region’s high-quality and psychologically penetrating series and films, from atmospheric and suspenseful crime dramas and provocative and stylish young-adult series to award-winning dramas and riveting documentaries.

Viaplay shut its direct-to-consumer service in February, but the Scandi streamer is still active in the U.S.

The platform has struck a deal to launch a subscription channel on Prime Video Channels, offering originals such as Börje – The Journey of a Legend, Furia and Gold Run.

The development comes after Viaplay closed its subscription streaming app in North America after a turbulent 2023 in which the Sweden-based company made 25% of its staff redundant and restructured around a package of sports rights and unscripted content. Expensive scripted shows were axed and sold, and the streamer has since pulled out of North America and the UK.

Exits from the Baltics and Poland are also coming, with Group President and CEO Jørgen Madsen Lindemann telling shareholders the company “will be different” in its annual report last month.

Viaplay CEO Anders Jensen has resigned after the Nordic streaming group announced a downgrade of its short-term outlook for 2023 and withdrew its long term guidance.

Jorgen Madsen Lindemann has been named as the new CEO of Viaplay Group with immediate effect. He is the former CEO of Mtg, which is the previous parent company of Viaplay Group.

Viaplay said that advertising revenues are expected to be down between 12% and 16% in the second quarter of 2023, citing a ”sharp and rapid deterioration in the TV and radio advertising markets.”

Viaplay Group has promoted content boss Filippa Wallestam to EVP and chief commercial officer for the Nordics.

“Here’s the thing: I’ve seen that some people are upset with me for turning down acting projects and deciding to stream more, but the fact of the matter is, the last few projects I’ve worked on, I didn’t have the best experiences with some of the people I had to work for,” she announced during a March 7 Twitch livestream, mentioning that she had turned down four movie roles in the past two and a half weeks.

She explained that her choice will be a step forward for her mental health after the recent incident.

Threesome revolves around Siri and David, a couple who have drunken sex with French exchange student Camille, awakening something between them.

Nordic programmer Viaplay has launched a streaming service in the U.S., delivering subscribers thousands of hours of programming for $5.99 a month.

So-called “Nordic noir” series like Trom, Furia, Threesome and Exit are among the marquee originals available on the platform. Trom is a crime drama starring Ulrich Thomsen, Furia is a Norwegian thriller and Threesome is a Swedish drama co-starring Lucien Laviscount, who is best known for Emily in Paris.

Upcoming originals ticketed for Viaplay include biopic The Dreamer – Becoming Karen Blixen starring Connie Nielsen; Hilma, directed by Academy Award nominee Lasse Hallström; and English-Swedish drama series Cell 8.

Viaplay had previously had a U.S. presence via Comcast’s Xfinity broadband and TV outlets, but the new service is its first direct-to-consumer offering here. Subtitles will be provided for the series, films and documentaries on the platform, and new subscribers will be eligible for a 7-day free trial.

Viaplay, the Nordic streamer that is a big producer of original programming, has launched its service in the U.S., promising consumers Nordic Noir hit content and “premium Scandinavian storytelling” for $5.99 per month.

U.S. customers can sign up with a seven-day free trial, the company said on Wednesday, Feb. 22. Series available exclusively on Viaplay include Danish crime drama Trom, starring Ulrich Thomsen, Norway’s Furia, which explores the world of right-wing extremism, London-set Swedish relationship drama Threesome with Lucien Laviscount and financial drama Exit, one of Norway’s most streamed series. (The streamer’s film and TV content is all available subtitled in English.)

Film titles include A Man Called Ove, which was recently remade as A Man Called Otto with Tom Hanks, Academy Award-winning dark comedy Another Round starring Mads Mikkelsen (Casino Royale), as well as all three original films from the Millennium/The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo trilogy.

James Lastovic, best known for portraying Joey Johnson on Days of Our Lives, has been found after going missing while on vacation in Hawaii.

Lastovic and roommate Nevin Dizdari were reported missing on Monday after they failed to return home to Los Angeles from their vacation.

Night Train Media, the German production and investment group run by Herbert L. Kloiber has acquired Swedish distribution and sales group Eccho Rights from Korean media giant Cj Enm, Night Train announced Thursday.

Based in Stockholm, with offices in Istanbul, London, Madrid and Seoul, Eccho Rights is a leading player in the international scripted TV business and was one of the first companies to see the potential in non-English-language drama, particularly from Scandinavia, Turkey and South Korea. The group licenses some 17,000 hours of drama per year and operates direct-to-consumer digital channels that reach more than 10 million subscribers worldwide. Eccho Rights series include Viaplay’s Swedish hit Threesome, the Channel 5 drama Compulsion and South Korean film trilogy Midnight Thriller. The group is also the international distributor for Servant of the People, the Ukrainian comedy series that launched the real-life political career of Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Withnail & I star Richard E. Grant has joined Disney+’s live-action drama Nautilus, with Muki Zubis (This is Going to Hurt) Benedict Hardie (The Luminaries), Jacob Collins Levy (Young Wallander) and Luke Arnold (Black Sails) also signing up to the cast. The Slovak government today declared a state of emergency will go into effect on Friday Nov. 25 in response to the deteriorating Covid-19 situation in the country. Jan Oliver Lucks, the New Zealand-based director of “There Is No I in Threesome,” has signed with U.S. talent agency ICM Partners for representation in all areas.

The controversial film about an open relationship premiered on WarnerMedia’s HBO Max streaming service earlier this year and was the first New Zealand movie to do so. “Threesome” will have its theatrical world premiere at the New Zealand International Film Festival in early November.

Lucks, who says he is always interested in film as a tool for exploring vulnerability, turned the camera on himself for “There Is No I In Threesome.” In love, newly engaged and maintaining a long-distance relationship, he and his fiancée decide to throw traditional rules out the window by opening-up their relationship before they tie the knot.

Visual effects and animation studio Dneg, whose credits include “Dune” and “No Time to Die,” will pay enhanced overtime to its U.K. employees.

From October, Dneg will pay overtime at 1.5x rate to all U.K. staff in non-management positions for all incremental time that they are asked to work beyond the standard 40-hour week. The move will bring Dneg’s U.K. overtime policy in line with its studios in North America and applies across its film and episodic visual effects, Dneg Animation and ReDefine operations, including its artist, production, technology and support teams.

The decision is a departure from the existing U.K. industry norm, where employees are compensated for overtime with paid time off after a project is completed.

Dneg has won multiple awards over the years. In 2021 alone, the company won the visual effects BAFTA and Oscar for Christopher Nolan‘s “Tenet.”
