Season 1 was pretty good and the inexperience of Rose and Peter was believable. They got the problem solved but mostly got lucky. Season 2 is unbelievably stupid. Peter is a trained agent who allows Rose to meddle in a case. There's never any backup and whenever there's a decision to be made it's made based on emotion. It's Hollywood so I'm sure they are going to stumble around and get lucky but their performance in the first half of the season would indicate a serious lack of what it takes to be a "Night Agent". I hate not knowing how things end so I'll watch until the end but I won't start a season 3.
A lot of nonsensical plot holes, disjointed and formless story lines thrown together in a blender. Clearly not based on a book like season 1 but rather a tv writer effort to leverage the original. I kept watching in spite of it. It's not terrible but there are much better other spy thriller shows. Some notable standouts for acting were Javar and Solomon and Peter. The women in this series to me were portrayed as weak, emotional and frail. Too stereotypical. Everytime an obvious solution was presented they meandered down a new weird fork in the road. Watching this required a lot of patience but I didn't have anything else to do so...

I have to say that I came away impressed with The Night Agent. I actually liked the first season so much that I couldn't stop watching and binged the entire season over the course of a weekend. Then the second season came out and I was hoping for more of the same. While I thought the second season was worth watching it wasn't nearly as good the first. The series is about a rookie FBI agent (Gabriel Basso) who gets assigned to the basement of the White House to guard a phone that never rings. Until one night it does. What follows is an action packed conspiracy thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout the series. I know this series has been killing it on Netflix as both seasons did very well and among their most watched shows ever. I saw they plan on doing a third season and I can't wait to see where this show goes.
This is a fast moving and fun action series that keeps you engaged. To enjoy it, you cannot be too analytical or expect any logic to how the events unfold. Suffice it to say that events happen only to suit the narrative and keep the action moving along at a rapid pace. Some events lack context, while others seem to be included solely to pad the script and stretch out the time to get it to the required number of episodes. The fight sequences seem to be very "Kung Fu" styled, complete with sound effects. From how the first season ends, it's clear that they are hoping to have continuing adventures for a second season. The lead character seems to be a hybrid version of Jack Reacher, 007 and Superman rolled into one!
Season 2: This is pure and unmitigated rubbish. It can only garner a 4/10 rating as it makes no sense at all. None of the events bear any relationship to the real world of espionage, but instead is more like a parody or comedic version of that world. Who gives a civilian so much say in a CIA operation? The type of decisions made as the plot unfolds indicate that the writers have no clue how government agencies like the CIA or the FBI operate. The fact that there is to be a season 3, change the writers if the show is to be successful!

Unfortunately the momentum of the original show was lost on season 2. Poorly written female roles really made this tough to watch. Actors had little to no depth.
The logic and trade craft for supposed operators is highly questionable in the second season. Always going into situations that can be avoided or dealt with more professionally.
The cast is very talented but they were limited here by the script. Wish it wasn't so but I definitely found myself doing secondary tasks while watching. Didn't keep me glued to it like season one. I say watch them both and you be the judge as I would any show.

I enjoyed season one. However season two was frustrating to watch. Every female in the series was beyond useless. Putting themselves in dangerous situations and then whinging about it. Rose got on my nerves the most. Her one expression through the whole series was a frustrated frown and Noor wasn't much better.
The plot felt very dragged out. Could have been done in 4 episodes. Also, there was nothing new here. It's a storyline we've all seen over and over again. So don't go in expecting anything groundbreaking.
If there's a season 3 I'll probably skip it unless the writers can do better and not make every female so feeble!!

I can't remember the last time a show surprised me by how much I liked it like The Night Agent did. I didn't know much about it but saw it was the #1 show on Netflix for a while and thought the trailer looked pretty good too. Then after reading the mostly positive reviews from both critics and audiences alike I was sold. It not only met my expectations but surpassed them in every way. It may get slow in some parts but for the most part it's very entertaining. It has a cast of mostly unknowns but Gabriel Basso is definitely the break out star here. His performance in this will definitely lead to more starring roles. I'm so glad this has already been renewed for another season.

I binge watched the first season and really enjoyed it. Season two, however, is a huge letdown after watching season one. The first season was really believable and the story line was a real cliff hanger. Unfortunately season two is not credible. Rose is a total hindrance and pain in the butt. She does nothing but distracts Peter and is very needy. So the poor guy needs to look after her in season two as well as season one. It was credible in season one, a pain in series two. I sincerely hope she will not be in season three. Season one easily deserves an eight however season two is more like a five.

The thing that made season 1 good was that the story and the action kept the story moving along. It was intriguing, interesting and compelling. I watched the first season in 2 or 3 days and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Season 2 is the exact opposite. Lots of pointless dialogue that doesn't move the story along. Lots of repeated conversations. Too many characters that have no purpose. Lots of talking. Little action. I am 4 episodes in and feel like I am now trying to get through this. Forcing myself to stick with it. Pretty much everything that made the first season good is missing in the second season.

The story is a good balance between complicated enough to have many strings to follow, yet simple enough to connect the strings eventually. There are some questionable things, but other shows have it worse, so it's better than average.
Of course "an IT person can hack anything" cliche is still there.
The villains are depicted well and are actually good actors just like the main characters.
My personal bonus point for hand-to-hand combat, because for once it shows that 2 people fighting 1 will kick the ass even if they have somehow lower skills.
Overall, for an action-packed TV show with a bit of a thriller, it's worth watching. Not likely to remain in your memory for long, as it's more on the generic side, but won't disappoint much either.

Absolutely loved the first series, the characters all made sense, their actions were believable and everything just slotted in to place nicely, whilst constantly keeping the viewer guessing.
I was so excited for the second series but almost stopped watching it part way through due to my utter frustration revolving around Rose's character.
The level of madness surrounding both her perceived entitlement to top secret / classified information and Operations is staggering, almost as infuriating as the level to which people in certain positions pander to her.
Either sign her up, or pack her bags.
But the character's level of whine has pretty much put me in the position of now completely losing interest in a third season (unless they decide to remove the character....)

What makes this show great is Peter and Rose working together and the genuine love they have for each other. I hope this grows in season 3 and it doesn't turn into a bunch of action stunts with no human connection component. I hope they grow closer like in season 1; their chemistry is great. In season 2 they were fairly distant and hopefully they let their guards down in season 3. Both are strong characters played by strong actors. Luciane does a great job showing Rose as a fierce smart go getter and a strong female role model that attracts Peter. Peter plays a strong male role model and protector role.

My husband and I haven't been able to sit down and watch a series in a while because we have young kids and this was the first show we turned on in I think a year. Didn't disappoint at all. I hate wasting my time and this is one that we literally couldn't stop watching! Definitely more sleep deprived because of it but worth it. First of all, it's believable! Corruption in the government and a spy trying to expose it. Rose is the perfect sidekick for Peter. I appreciate that this show isn't over sexualized like most Netflix series now days. They stick to the point and every single episode had you on the edge of your seat. I read some people didn't like season 2 as much but I have to disagree, session 2 was excellent. Stunts are realistic, acting is great, writing is great, can't wait for season 3!

My overall rating of Night Agent is a 6.5 rounded up to a 7, because I really did like the first season.
Basic premise, an unlucky government employee is given a 2nd chance with a secret organization that is supposed to keep him out of trouble, but... Surprise! He gets wrapped up into a complex international conspiracy with surprisingly ambitious aims.
I think the reason the first season was so much fun was the borderline preposterous story that somehow maintains a thread of believability throughout. Really, though, it's probably the characters that do most the heavy lifting - Night Agent is one of those rare shows that develops every major character, including the bad guys. So when bullets fly and people go down, the viewer feels the consequences, even if the good guys win.
First season did a good job of all of this stuff, so I was looking forward to season 2. While season 2 isn't a complete train wreck, it is worse than the 1st season in all important ways. It's probably ok the story is less ambitious and more personal, but! Season 2 is painfully slow to get going with little meaningful introduction, And! The characters for the first 4 episodes are way less developed and interesting than season one. That is unfortunate - many of the bad characters in season one had unique personalities, and made for quirky scenes. The characters in season 2 are simply not as entertaining to follow, and this is nothing personal regarding character and casting - I'm really blaming the writers and dialog that is serviceable at best.
I don't know, but I'd guess season 2 is just a rushed product compared to season 1, and maybe the budget got slashed. There does seem to be less action scenes and special effects. The further season 2 goes, the better it gets, but it really never reaches the level of the first season, that was only good in the first place.
I gather a third season is being made - I'd hope the writing is more considered, and the characters get back to being more entertaining. Probably could use a boost in budget with more action scenes too.
Edit: Second season fully earns 6/10 demotion for lack of inspiration, fewer action sets, and poor work in the details. Whether it's a poor fitting shirt, unkept hair, average makeup or props (like food) that don't fit context of scene, there's a consistent slipshod nature to 2nd season details. That being said, many good trademarks of the 1st season are maintained, but never feels as entertaining. I still recommend watching for fans of season one because it does continue Peter and Rose's journey.

Season 1: A Perfect Blend of Action, Thriller, and Suspense - 10/10
The first season of The Night Agent was a masterpiece. It had everything an action-thriller enthusiast could hope for-gripping suspense, intense action, and edge-of-your-seat storytelling. Not a single moment felt boring, and the characters were engaging and well-written. I was so impressed that I ended up watching the entire season three times. It's a must-watch for fans of the genre, and I couldn't wait to see what Season 2 had in store.
Season 2: A Disappointing Follow-Up - 3/10 Unfortunately, Season 2 fell far short of expectations. The suspense that made the first season so thrilling was completely missing. While the action scenes were still decent, the story was painfully predictable and lacked depth. One of the biggest letdowns was the character of Rose. Her irrational decisions and frustrating behavior took away from the show's credibility. It's frustrating when characters are written to undermine the expertise of seasoned professionals like top FBI agents. This season also had numerous boring moments, and I found myself struggling to stay interested. I barely made it through a single watch and won't be revisiting it. There's simply nothing worth watching in Season 2.
If you're considering watching The Night Agent, I'd recommend sticking to Season 1 and skipping the sequel. The first season is a gem, but the second season is a missed opportunity.

It's a watchable series, but you'll have to forget everything you know about...
And I'm not talking about you being an expert on these things, just that you understand even some basics or have seen any other series where actual, trained people have participated in advising how to write the scene or how the actor needs to move in a particular area (hint: not in the middle of the street if you want to hide).
Simply put, you'll have to think like an under-10-year-old kid.
I liked the actors, though, hence 4/10 instead of 2-3/10.
- Security and safety, video surveillance, etc
- Guns and handling them
- Any rational decision making
- How police and military works
- How agents and other highly trained people operate work, move, and secure areas
- Etc

Just like the previous installments, this one keeps you on the edge of your seat. The lead cast remains largely unchanged from the earlier series, which is a definite bonus. I can't understand all the negative comments-this one is on par with the previous ones. It's fast-moving, packed with action, and the characters must navigate a series of dangerous and tricky situations to achieve their goal in the end. The events at the Iranian embassy were absolutely thrilling, adding to the excitement. The plot only thickens from there, keeping you hooked until the end.
I can't wait for the next series to come out.
