Andy Samberg is a beloved figure in Saturday Night Live history. He brought a unique model to the show with his Digital Shorts, and was a core member of the 2000s cast that many consider to be the last wave of SNL talent. He's back in a cameo capacity in season 50, but it has not proven to be any easier for him.
Samberg talked about his SNL return on the October 28 episode of the Lonely Island and Seth Meyers Podcast. He has played Kamala Harris' husband Doug Emhoff in multiple episodes, but he admitted to his fellow podcast hosts that he has struggled to keep up with the show's intense pace.

Even if you’re not a Halloween person, October means spooky season. It feels like every brand, store, — and yes, every streamer, finds ways to incorporate themes of haunting and horror. Disney+ started early, with the September premiere of “Agatha All Along,” which will air new episodes for the next several weeks. In October, the streamer will debut “Wizards Beyond Waverly Place,” an expansion of the popular Disney Channel series “Wizards of Waverly Place” which aired from 2007 to 2012.
And of course Hulu has “Huluween,” a celebration of the scariest titles either premiering on the streamer for the first time or simply highlighted from its existing library. That includes films like “Late Night with the Devil,” the series “Reginald the Vampire,” FX’s “American Horror Stories”, a Halloween specials from “Family Guy” and “Solar Opposites,” a docuseries on witch hunting, and much more.

Back in the 1890s, writer Oscar Wilde brought the world a story called The Picture of Dorian Gray – and now the Netflix streaming service has announced that they’re teaming up with Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television on a new TV series called The Grays, which ComicBook.com hears will be “a contemporary take on the Oscar Wilde classic about our fascination with eternal youth set against the backdrop of the modern beauty industry.“
The Picture of Dorian Gray has the following description: Combining elements of the Gothic horror novel and decadent French fiction, the book centers on a striking premise: As Dorian Gray sinks into a life of crime and gross sensuality, his body retains perfect youth and vigor while his recently painted portrait grows day by day into a hideous record of evil, which he must keep hidden from the world.

It was confirmed a little over a month ago that Scarlet Spider would be appearing in "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse," but his voice had been kept a secret until now. The character was first introduced in 1975 but was prominently featured during the Clone Saga of Spider-Man comics in the mid-1990s. This might sound radical on paper but received mixed-results in execution. The clone of Peter Parker went by the name Ben Reilly, donning a shredded Spidey hoodie over his super-suit while on the case.
As if Ben couldn't get any more painfully '90s, he also bleached his hair and had plenty of gnar-bro fashion accessories to try and capture the look of the time. Unfortunately, the storyline led to the reveal that Ben Reilly was the "original" Peter Parker, and I'm sure you can guess how fans reacted to the news. Spoiler Alert: they hated it. To be fair,...

Elijah Wood may be having a bit of a moment with "Yellowjackets," but it's far from his only headline-grabbing role. Wood has been steadily working on our screens since the late 1980s, with a varied career that includes acting in TV and movies, doing voice work, producing and writing, and more.
While Wood definitely has become a permanent fixture in pop culture thanks to his role in "The Lord of the Rings," his career is much more eclectic and varied than just the blockbusters. He's the kind of actor who seems to delight in taking unusual and creative projects, with roles ranging from outright comedy and family-friendly hits to thrillers, dark dramas, and everything in between. Let's take a look back at some of his big-screen highlights over the years.

Rashida Jones has more than a few strings to her bow. Between roles in a slew of cult TV hits like The Office, Parks and Recreation and Angie Tribeca, writing skills that span everything from poignant indie film Celeste & Jesse Forever to Toy Story 4 and Black Mirror, her Grammy-winning documentary Quincy, and a singing career to boot, Jones is a true multi-hyphenate. Lately, she’s been back in the comedy series realm as the larger-than-life Joya in Kenya Barris’ show #BlackAF. And now there’s her lead role in Sofia Coppola’s feature On the Rocks. Jones plays Laura, a Manhattan novelist and mother of two, who finds herself second-guessing her husband (Marlon Wayans)’s commitment. Joining forces with her errant bon vivant father (Bill Murray), hijinks ensue. Jones cites this as the role closest to her real self, as she muses over some career highlights and favorite memories.

“Palm Springs” from Neon premiered at Sundance on January 26, 2020 and was released on Hulu this past July 10. The film tells the story of Nyles (Andy Samberg) and Sarah (Cristin Milioti) as two wedding guests stuck in the same time loop. The pair develops a friendship as they adjust to their circular fate. This rom-com balances an absurd premise alongside quirky realism to create a wild and endearing film. Scroll down for our exclusive video interviews with top Oscar and Golden Globe contenders from the film.
Samberg just scored his first film Globe nominations for “Palm Spirings.” In 2013 he won in the TV Comedy Actor race for “Brooklyn Nine-Nine.” His film work has previously been dominated by screwball comedies such as “Hot Rod” and “Popstar: Never Stop Stopping,” This comedy performance carries more weight as the characters explore ideas of purpose, loneliness and commitment. Andy Samberg is back! Seven years after winning a Golden Globe for “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” the actor has scored his second career acting nomination. When he won in 2014, he said backstage, “I’m completely in shock. I just assumed I would come here and have a drink.” This time, he competes in the Best Film Comedy/Musical Actor category for his performance in “Palm Springs.” Samberg has been ignored by the Globes for previous films such as “Celeste and Jesse Forever” (2012) and “Popstar: Never Stop Stopping” (2016). It’s nice to see that the Hollywood Foreign Press Association is finally acknowledging his feature work. Could this time-bending comedy create a case of déjà vu for Samberg with another Globe upset?
Samberg faces off against Sacha Baron Cohen (“Borat Subsequent Moviegilm”), James Corden (“The Prom”), Lin-Manuel Miranda (“Hamilton”) and Dev Patel (“The Personal History of David Copperfield”). Of this group, Baron Cohen won...

Andy Samberg stars alongside Cristin Milioti in the critically acclaimed Hulu sci-fi comedy “Palm Springs.” His performance as Nyles, a carefree man stuck in a time loop, earned him a Critics’ Choice Super Award for Best Actor in a Sci-Fi/Fantasy Movie and he is among the top contenders to earn a Golden Globe nomination for Best Comedy Actor.
Samberg recently spoke with Gold Derby contributing editor Matt Noble and contributing writer Denton Davidson about what attracted him to the Neon film, working with actors like J.K. Rashida Jones shines in “On the Rocks.” In this A24/Apple TV+ release, she plays Laura, a woman who suspects her husband (Marlon Wayans) might be having an affair. She enlists the help of her father (Bill Murray) to get to the bottom of things. She’s an awards contender for this role, but it’s surprising she hasn’t been acknowledged more for her acting by awards groups since that’s what she’s best known for. She has actually been recognized more often for her work behind the camera.
She was part of the cast of the David E. Kelley series “Boston Public,” which earned her an NAACP Image Award nomination in 2002. She joined the Emmy-winning “The Office” in 2006, playing Karen, and shared in our Gold Derby Award for Best Comedy Ensemble in 2007.

“I don’t feel satisfied with success,” confesses “On the Rocks” star Rashida Jones. In our recent interview (watch the exclusive video above), she adds, “That’s not the thing that keeps me going. It’s trying to subvert my own expectations of myself. I’ve only ever played a lead role one other time in my life, and it was a movie I wrote for myself (“Celeste and Jesse Forever”). I wasn’t looking to do that. When someone like Sofia Coppola asks you to do that you jump at the chance. It’s scary. I still have a lot of feelings and doubts about myself and ability to perform and hold this movie. But I had to step up to the challenge. I had to do it.”

In a Tribeca Talks “Storytellers” panel opposite Patriot Act host Hasan Minhaj, Rashida Jones weighed in on an accomplished career that has already included a series of standout writing (Celeste & Jesse Forever) and performing credits. But Minhaj was most interested in Jones’ most close-to-home project, co-writing and co-directing the 2018 documentary Quincy, which looked at the life and career of her astoundingly driven father, famed music producer/arranger Quincy Jones.
“It felt like a destiny I had to fulfill for the family,” she said of the project, which earned her a Best Music Film Grammy this year.
Fittingly enough, the project first came about courtesy of Jane Rosenthal, the Tribeca Film Festival co-founder who introduced Minhaj and Jones at the start of the night’s panel. “We were at a party and Jane said, ‘We need to make a documentary about your dad...

If you thought that Lara Jean's older sister looked familiar in the To All the Boys I've Loved Before teaser, then you thought right. In the upcoming Netflix adaptation of Jenny Han's bestselling novel, Lara Jean (played by Lana Condor) accidentally reveals her secret feelings for all five of her former crushes, and her wise big sis, Margot, is played by Janel Parrish, best known as Mona Vanderwaal on Pretty Little Liars. Seriously, the cast for this movie is out-of-control good.
You probably don't even remember whether or not you liked Mona after the series finale, and we can't blame you. Parrish's Pll character led a complicated arc, playing the show's main antagonist for the first two seasons, and then again during the first half of the fifth season. Rashida Jones and writing partner Will McCormack are setting the record straight regarding the reason they left screenwriting duties on “Toy Story 4.” In a story published by The Hollywood Reporter on November 21, Pixar’s Chief Creative Officer John Lasseter was accused of misconduct by insiders at the company and Disney. One source told THR that Jones left “Toy Story 4” after Lasseter made an “unwanted advance.”

Jones and McCormack have refuted the allegation in a statement made to Entertainment Weekly. The writing duo, whose previous credits include “Celeste and Jesse Forever,” deny unwanted advances were ever made toward Jones, and instead they cite the unequal treatment of minority voices within Pixar as the reason they removed themselves from “Toy Story 4.”

[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “You’re the Worst” Season 4, Episode 12 (“Like People”) and Episode 13 (“It’s Always Been This Way”), the series finale.]
Gretchen chose herself, and she also chose Jimmy.
As Aya Cash’s worstie watched her former other half (Chris Geere) spar with her new other other half (played by Colin Ferguson), it became increasingly clear she couldn’t pick either one. Both were acting like idiots. Both were being immature. Both had made mistakes with her that had not been about her.
So she had to choose herself. Gretchen had to walk out of that kitchen without either man. She had to know that her self-importance, her power, couldn’t be determined by a romantic partner. So she flew solo.
And then she ran in front of Jimmy’s car, slapped him in the face, and put her engagement ring back on, this time (one hopes) for good.

He missed his network’s upfront, but Jimmy Kimmel will be back to host the 90th annual Academy Awards. This is the move Deadline told you in March was coming after the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences moved quickly to lock up this year’s producers Michael De Luca and Jennifer Todd. The Academy was also moving aggressively to bring back Kimmel for a reprise as host.
The announcement puts this year’s Best Picture fiasco in the rearview mirror as the team behind the 89th Oscars reunites. Kimmel got solid reviews for his rookie turn as host of Hollywood’s Biggest Night in February, though the wild finale — La La Land mistakenly announced for the marquee trophy rather than proper winner Moonlight — is what people will remember most.

The Academy took its time finding its Oscar producers this year.
For three years in a row (2012-2014) they could rest easy knowing that Craig Zadan and Neil Meron were in charge, but since they moved on the AMPAS president Cheryl Boone Isaacs and CEO Dawn Hudson are back to trying to convince someone to take on the often arduous and thankless task.
They usually pick a team to split the chores as they did last year with Reginald Hudlin and David Hill, who by all reports, were like oil and water. That wasn’t going to happen again. With less-than-glowing reviews for the last few Oscars, Isaacs and Hudson were looking for someone they could count on to elevate the event.
The Academy has never found another producer like director Gil Cates, who produced the Oscar show 14 times between 1990 and 2008, bringing in Billy Crystal, Whoopi Goldberg, David Letterman, Steve Martin,...

The studio has pushed Toy Story 4 from June 15, 2018 to June 21 2019. The 2019 date was the former spot for The Incredibles 2, which will now take over Toy Story 4's vacated June 15, 2018 spot. It isn't known when production will begin on either of these projects.
Deadline didn't offer any details about why this release date swap was made, but it comes a full year after Disney set the 2019 release date for The Incredibles 2. The last we heard about this sequel was back in August, when writer-director Brad Bird said the sequel will stay true to the original hit movie, while taking the story in a different direction. Now that this new release date is in place, perhaps we'll get confirmation on casting or new characters soon.

Depending on what you’ve seen him in, you might have a number of different takes on Andy Samberg. You could know him from his run on Saturday Night Live, his television show Brooklyn Nine-Nine, a handful of supporting roles in films, or his highest profile turn in Celeste and Jesse Forever. There’s also his musical work with The Lonely Island, which combines with his comedic movie work this week to mark the release of Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, his attempt at a real comedy hit. It appears to be something a little on the unique side, so there’s a chance that Samberg is about to break through in a big way. The film is a look at fictional superstar Conner4Real (Samberg), who was once a member of the pop/rap group The Style Boyz. When his solo career goes up in flames, Conner4Real is game to...

Following news that Robert Schwentke would be bowing out of directing duties on the fourth and final Divergent movie, called Ascendant, reports have come out that Lionsgate/Summit may have found a new director for the project.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studios are in talks with Lee Toland Krieger to helm The Divergent Series: Ascendant. Krieger previously directed the romantic dramas The Age of Adaline and Celeste and Jesse Forever, so Ascendant would be his first foray into a big studio film.
Before that final film in the franchise, The Divergent Series: Allegiant will be hitting theaters next month, on March 18. Ascendant is essentially the second half of the final book in the franchise, whose namesake — Allegiant — has been given to the third film. I’ve read them all and I still barely followed that last sentence.
Unfortunately, the series as a whole has been a bit of a victim of diminishing returns,...

"That Justin Theroux guy - where do I know him from?" Depending on whom you ask, you could get a great many answers. Of course, he's the husband of Jennifer Aniston, but he's had a string of notable acting roles too. He could be that guy from The Leftovers, the actor who played the hapless director character in Mulholland Drive, Leslie Knope's short-lived boyfriend on Parks and Recreation, or even the bad guy from Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle. However, Theroux is also a screenwriter, and he's credited with a handful of major films that casual movie-goers might not associate with him.

This week, the comedy series Angie Tribeca premiered on TBS. And while the show is the brainchild of a comedy power couple, Steve Carell and Nancy Walls Carell, star Rashida Jones is herself the daughter of two famous people: music producer Quincy Jones and Mod Squad actress Peggy Lipton. (They shot a scene together!)
In the past decade, Rashida Jones has made a name for herself in comedy, having acted in The Office and Parks and Recreation as well as films such as I Love You, Man and Celeste and Jesse Forever to the point that she gets a pass...
