1923 Season 2, Episode 5, titled “Only Gunshots to Guide Us,” is a Brandon Sklenar and Julia Schlaepfer episode, in which they play Spencer and Alexandra, respectively. The chapter continues to depict their struggle—like a dream where you try to reach your destination, but it never ends. The writing is designed to highlight the depth of their love.

In this episode, Taylor Sheridan delves deeper into character development and places them in harm’s way. Surprisingly, after heavy focus on these stars in previous weeks, the episode does not include contributions from Harrison Ford’s Jacob or Helen Mirren’s Cara. At least we get a break from Elizabeth (Landman’s Michelle Randolph) encountering a wolf, a mountain lion, and, I imagine, a giant moose in the coming weeks.

"Landman" was one of the biggest breakout streaming TV hits of 2024. That probably shouldn't come as much of a surprise, as this is just the latest series to come from the mind of "Yellowstone" creator Taylor Sheridan, who has built himself quite the media empire. Airing on Paramount+, his latest show isn't connected to Paramount's flagship Western series, but it is certainly not lacking for star power. Taylor Sheridan's "Landman" is the series Stephen King hates himself for liking, so the show must be doing something right for one of the world's greatest storytellers to (begrudgingly) praise it. In the show, Billy Bob Thornton plays Tommy Norris, a fixer for a West Texas oil company who must grapple with businessmen, the Cartel, politicians, and tumultuous family drama in his everyday life. Things get messy, and Tommy has to clean it up.

While King regrets enjoying the show, the truth is that "Landman" is one of Sheridan's best series to date, with the drama doing for the oil industry what "Yellowstone" does for ranching. Sure, there are heightened soap opera elements, but "Landman" is also pretty authentic thanks to its Texas-based locations and respect shown toward the industry it portrays on the screen.

The series follows the Dutton family’s efforts to protect their family land and received mostly positive reactions from critics and fans. As a result, it is setting up a promising conclusion to its second and final season.

Since his first appearance in an episode of Walker, Texas Ranger, Taylor Sheridan has proved there’s not much he can’t do in the world of TV. Best known for being a writer, producer and director of some of TV’s biggest shows, including Yellowstone, Lioness and Landman, Sheridan made his start as a TV actor in several hit shows of the late 90s and early 2000s.

An Oscar-and Emmy-nominee known for his iconic voice is rumored to be joining his second Taylor Sheridan television series. The actor is said to be joining the cast of Paramount+’s Landman.

Per Collider, Sam Elliott is in talks to join the cast of the popular drama series. Per The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount+ has already begun production in Atlanta and Oklahoma on Tulsa King Season 3. This comes after a wildly successful Season 2, whose premiere episode alone garnered 21.1 million views, becoming the most-watched global premiere for the streaming service. However, the show is once again going through some behind-the-scenes changes, with executive producer Dave Erickson taking over as sole showrunner on Tulsa King. Erikson is also the showrunner of Sheridan's other Paramount+ series, Mayor of Kingstown.

New casting information has just been revealed for the Prison Break offshoot that's in the works at Hulu. The project has a pilot that's currently being put into development, though the reboot hasn't yet been officially ordered to series.

Per Variety, the new Prison Break pilot has cast Emily Browning (American Gods), Lukas Gage (Dead Boy Detectives), and Drake Rodger (Landman) in major roles. The reboot of Prison Breakhas cast three actors and revealed the first character details. The new iteration of the mid-2000s crime drama hails from Mayans M.C. co-creator Elgin James and has a pilot order at Hulu. According to reports, the Prison Break reboot takes place in the same overall universe as the original. However, it won't feature the leading duo of Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) and Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell). The potential series hails from 20th Television, counting original series creator Paul Scheuring among the executive producers alongside veteran producers Dawn Olmstead, Marty Adelstein, and Neal Moritz.

Deadlineconfirms that Emily Browning, Lukas Gage and Drake Rodger have been cast as regulars in the Prison Break reboot. Browning, known for her roles in Sucker Punch, The Uninvited, and the television adaptation of American Gods, will portray Cassidy Collins. An ex-soldier turned corrections officer, Collins takes a job at one of the deadliest prisons in America.

Browning stars as Cassidy Collins, described as “an ex-soldier turned corrections officer takes a job at one of the deadliest prisons in America.” Gage will play Jackson in the pilot, said to be “a politician from a well-to-do background in his first congressional campaign.” And Rodger will play Tommy, “an inmate at one of the deadliest prisons in America, incarcerated ten years ago.”

Paramount+ has officially renewed Landman starring Oscar winner Billy Bob Thornton and co-created by Taylor Sheridan and Christian Wallace. After being listed as one of the Top 10 Subscription Video on Demand (SVOD) original series for the fourth quarter of 2024, the renewal is not surprising.

Paramount+ reports that the fourth quarter Top 10 SVOD list marked the first time a streamer, other than Netflix, has earned three spots. Paramount+ was represented by Tulsa King (#4), Landman (#8), and Lioness (#9).

“Landman was one of the biggest shows of the year because of Taylor Sheridan’s unique ability to tap into the cultural zeitgeist, harnessing the Neo-Western themes of rugged individualism, ambition, and working-class struggles set against contemporary debates around energy, climate change and economic growth,” stated Chris McCarthy, President and CEO, Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios and Paramount Media Networks.
