1923 Season 2, Episode 5, titled “Only Gunshots to Guide Us,” is a Brandon Sklenar and Julia Schlaepfer episode, in which they play Spencer and Alexandra, respectively. The chapter continues to depict their struggle—like a dream where you try to reach your destination, but it never ends. The writing is designed to highlight the depth of their love.
In this episode, Taylor Sheridan delves deeper into character development and places them in harm’s way. Surprisingly, after heavy focus on these stars in previous weeks, the episode does not include contributions from Harrison Ford’s Jacob or Helen Mirren’s Cara. At least we get a break from Elizabeth (Landman’s Michelle Randolph) encountering a wolf, a mountain lion, and, I imagine, a giant moose in the coming weeks.

"Landman" was one of the biggest breakout streaming TV hits of 2024. That probably shouldn't come as much of a surprise, as this is just the latest series to come from the mind of "Yellowstone" creator Taylor Sheridan, who has built himself quite the media empire. Airing on Paramount+, his latest show isn't connected to Paramount's flagship Western series, but it is certainly not lacking for star power. Aside from Billy Bob Thornton, the series also includes recent Oscar nominee Demi Moore.
Unfortunately for viewers, Moore wasn't featured all that much in the show's first season. But "Landman" season 2 is already in the works at Paramount+. With Moore's recent resurgence, it seems all the more likely that her character Cami Miller, the wife of Jon Hamm's Monty Miller, will take on a more prominent role as the series evolves. This was recently addressed by the show's co-creator Christian Wallace in an interview with TVLine.

Is Sylvester Stallone about to clash with a T-1000? I say this because Robert Patrick will join the cast of Tulsa King alongside Beau Knapp for Season 3 of the Taylor Sheridan-created series at Paramount+. Today’s announcement finds Patrick and Knapp landing series regular roles, with production already in motion.
Tulsa King follows New York mafia capo Dwight “The General” Manfredi (Stallone) just after being released from prison after 25 years and unceremoniously exiled by his boss to set up shop in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Realizing that his mob family may not have his best interests in mind, Dwight slowly builds a “crew” from a group of unlikely characters to help him establish a new criminal empire in a place that might as well be another planet.

Taylor Sheridan's "Landman" is the series Stephen King hates himself for liking, so the show must be doing something right for one of the world's greatest storytellers to (begrudgingly) praise it. In the show, Billy Bob Thornton plays Tommy Norris, a fixer for a West Texas oil company who must grapple with businessmen, the Cartel, politicians, and tumultuous family drama in his everyday life. Things get messy, and Tommy has to clean it up.
While King regrets enjoying the show, the truth is that "Landman" is one of Sheridan's best series to date, with the drama doing for the oil industry what "Yellowstone" does for ranching. Sure, there are heightened soap opera elements, but "Landman" is also pretty authentic thanks to its Texas-based locations and respect shown toward the industry it portrays on the screen.

1923 is an expansion of Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone universe, with the spin-off show’s second installment now in full swing. The series follows the Dutton family’s efforts to protect their family land and received mostly positive reactions from critics and fans. As a result, it is setting up a promising conclusion to its second and final season.

However, according to one of the show’s stars, Sheridan distanced himself from the production of season 2. The prolific writer-producer wasn’t present on the sets during the filming of the second installment. As a result, Sheridan’s choice to remain on the sidelines could prove to be a costly mistake as the big-budget spectacle aims to stick the landing.

Since his first appearance in an episode of Walker, Texas Ranger, Taylor Sheridan has proved there’s not much he can’t do in the world of TV. Best known for being a writer, producer and director of some of TV’s biggest shows, including Yellowstone, Lioness and Landman, Sheridan made his start as a TV actor in several hit shows of the late 90s and early 2000s.
One such show was Veronica Mars, the CW teen drama about a high school detective. While not his first credited role, Sheridan played his first recurring role as criminal Danny Boyd. Later taking on bigger TV roles, including David Hale in Sons of Anarchy, Sheridan’s role as Boyd was a turning point in his early career.
Veronica Mars Was a Teen Mystery That Mixed High School Drama With Noir
First aired in 2004, Veronica Mars quickly set itself apart from other teen dramas of the era.

Taylor Sheridan's array of TV shows like "Yellowstone" and "Landman" and movies like the Denis Villeneuve-directed "Sicario" have made him one of the hottest creators in Hollywood, which means the wildly successful actor-writer-director-producer can afford to speak his mind on many things. As it turns out, some of his stances are so bold that they're bordering on controversial -- at least, when it comes to one particular (and particularly beloved) Tom Hanks movie.
The film in question is "Forrest Gump," the warm-hearted 1994 comedy-drama that gave Hanks his second Best Actor in a Leading Role Oscar and truly cemented his status as one of America's all-time acting greats. During a 2024 appearance on "The Joe Rogan Experience" (via Dexerto), Sheridan revealed that he deeply despises the movie due to the way its portrayal of the titular character differs from his own storytelling sensibilities:

Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos considers the streaming strategies of Amazon, Apple, and Max. Though its subscriber stability has waxed and waned in recent years, Netflix remains one of the most formidable streaming giants in the business. Originally founded as a DVD subscription service, Netflix introduced its streaming platform in 2007, making it one of the longest-running services in the industry. As the years have gone on, more and more competitors have come about, including Disney's streaming platform Disney+, HBO's Max, and Amazon's Prime Video, among others.
Speaking with Variety, Sarandos addresses the streaming strategies of competitors like Amazon, Apple, and Disney. In the interview, Sarandos was asked to speak about several different streaming services and to what extent he saw them as competitors to Netflix. Depending on your thoughts about season 2, this may be either good news or impartial news to you. Tulsa King starring Sylvester Stallone has officially been renewed for a season 3. And honestly, we're surprised and not surprised about this news. We'll get into our thoughts in a moment. But first, let's talk about what we know about the new season first.
Paramount+ has not shared a release date yet, though filming and production on the new season has begun, per a press release. That means the cast and crew are back to work in Atlanta, Georgia and Oklahoma to bring the episodes to life. Previously, filming has taken around four to six months.
And actually, season 2 wrapped in August 2024, then premiered shortly after only a month later in September. So if the third season follows the same timeline, it's very possible that Tulsa King season 3 could premiere towards the end of...

Paramount+ has confirmed that Tulsa King will return for a third season. The crime drama, starring Sylvester Stallone and created by Taylor Sheridan, has already begun production in Atlanta and Oklahoma after months of casting.
Dave Erickson, previously a writer, executive producer, and showrunner on Mayor of Kingstown, has been named executive producer and showrunner for the upcoming season. His involvement was part of an overall deal with MTV Entertainment Studios, which produces Sheridan’s shows with 101 Studios.
Stallone, who plays Dwight “The General” Manfredi, secured a new contract in November, ensuring his involvement for at least two more seasons. This agreement set the stage for the series’ continuation, with a fourth season likely to follow.
The second season of Tulsa King, which concluded in November, set a Paramount+ record with 21.1 million global streaming views for its premiere. Alongside Landman and Lioness, it was among the top 10 U.S.

Paramount+ has renewed another Taylor Sheridan show. A week after Landman was renewed, a third season of the Sylvester Stallone-led Tulsa King has been ordered by the streamer.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount+ has already begun production in Atlanta and Oklahoma on Tulsa King Season 3. Following two months and 10 episodes of must-see television,Landman concluded its explosive Season 1 finale on January 12, 2025. The latest Taylor Sheridan TV creation went out with a bang, setting up a new set of circumstances for Season 2. After weeks of speculation, Paramount+ officially renewed the show for a second season on March 12, with criminally underutilized star Demi Moore having stated that filming will begin sometime in early 2025. As such, it's time to drill down to see what lies ahead in the riveting oil and gas industry drama.
While Sheridan is known for expanding his TV franchises with bigger and bolder seasons, sequels, and spinoffs, Landman's second chapter could go in several dramatic directions. However, considering what transpired in Season 1, Episode 10, "The Crumbs of Hope," it's safe to assume Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton) must deal with the fallout of a dying friend, a vengeful drug cartel, and the mysterious arrival of...

A new Landman season 2 casting report addresses Jon Hamm's status and reveals a new star has been cast in a main role. Taylor Sheridan and Christian Wallace's hit Paramount+ show is based on Wallace's podcast Boomtown, and follows Billy Bob Thronton's Tommy Wallace, as he navigates the oil fields of West Texas. The show has enjoyed critical acclaim, with Landman season 1 concluding in January 2025. In March 2025, Paramount renewed Landman season 2, and the season is set to see a shakeup among the cast of the show.
Per a report in Matt Belloni's newsletter for Puck, Sam Elliott has joined the cast in an undisclosed main character role. Hamm, meanwhile, was only contracted for season 1, and while there's no confirmation of his status, Belloni positions him as unlikely to return. He notes that the plan was always to have Demi Moore step into a more prominent role in...

Season 1 of a cancelled Paramount+ video game series has become a global streaming hit on the rival platform Netflix. Paramount+ is a streaming service owned by Paramount Global that launched in 2014 as CBS All Access before being rebranded in 2021. At the time of writing, the streamer contains both library titles and original features and series from across a variety of brands including Nickelodeon, CBS, Showtime, BET, Comedy Central, MTV, and the Smithsonian Channel.
Paramount+ has followed a modern streaming trend by adapting multiple popular video game franchises into television projects. These types of shows have become especially lucrative in the wake of HBO's post-apocalyptic smash hit The Last of Us, with other prominent examples including Netflix's The Witcher and Arcane, Peacock's Twisted Metal, and Prime Video's Fallout, as well as their upcoming Tomb Raider series. A new Yellowstone spinoff is reportedly in development as Beth and Rip's show gets a filming update, with the series' universe continuing to expand. The upcoming Beth and Rip Yellowstone spinoff will see Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser reprise their roles from the original series, their stories continuing after the end of the flagship western. Since the original ranch was sold back to the Broken Rock Reservation at the end of the show, the couple's new series will see them building a new life together beyond the bounds of the Dutton family's heritage.
Now, a report from Puckclaims that a new Yellowstone spinoff is currently in development from creator Taylor Sheridan, although no story details have been revealed as of writing. Even the brightest stars can lose their shine if they stop looking at the sky. As a long-time admirer of Taylor Sheridan’s storytelling brilliance, this feels like the right lens through which to view his recent work. There was a time when his shows, from Yellowstone to Landman, were the kind of stories that made you feel something deep in your bones.
But much like a musician who hits a sour note, Sheridan’s latest endeavors seem to echo past missteps, leaving fans yearning for the sharp, compelling narratives we once cherished.

Much like the growing dissatisfaction during Yellowstone Season 5, it feels like Sheridan’s 1923 Season 2 is suffering from an overdose of filler. Characters are popping in and out without much purpose, and we can’t help but wonder if the show is just padding itself for the sake of it.

Netflix’s latest hit isn’t a new blockbuster — it’s Sicario, the 2015 crime thriller that’s suddenly dominating the charts. Written by Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan, this intense drug war drama has climbed Netflix’s Top 10 nearly a decade after its release. And honestly, it’s a reminder that this is the franchise Sheridan should expand.

Hey, good news for us TV watchers—Paramount+ just gave the green light to a second season of ‘Landman.’ If you haven’t caught it yet, it’s that gritty drama about the oil rigs and wildcat billionaires of West Texas, created by Taylor Sheridan. The guy knows how to hook us with a story, and this one’s no exception.
The first season wrapped up on January 12, and it’s been a hit. We’re talking huge numbers—Paramount says the premiere pulled in 35 million viewers worldwide. That’s the biggest debut they’ve had in two years. The finale also smashed records as the most-watched end to any series on the platform. No wonder they’re bringing it back.

Following the success of Taylor Sheridan's Yellowstone franchise, a wave of neo-Western shows has swept TV, with Landman being only the latest example. Telling the stories of different men and women involved in the oil industry, the series deals with issues of dangerous working conditions, family drama, corruption and politics. For some movies, it's as much a question of tone and style as it is subject matter, with plenty of fellow neo-Western dramas to watch.
Landman belongs firmly in the realm of contemporary Western, but its exploration of the oil industry puts it alongside other projects too. Ranging from political thrillers to epic classics from the '50s, audiences have no shortage of excellent follow-up movies and shows to enjoy. Considering his footprint in modern cinema and TV, Sheridan's own career is packed full of brilliant films that deserve to be watched after Landman.

Paramount+ has officially renewed Landman starring Oscar winner Billy Bob Thornton and co-created by Taylor Sheridan and Christian Wallace. After being listed as one of the Top 10 Subscription Video on Demand (SVOD) original series for the fourth quarter of 2024, the renewal is not surprising.
Paramount+ reports that the fourth quarter Top 10 SVOD list marked the first time a streamer, other than Netflix, has earned three spots. Paramount+ was represented by Tulsa King (#4), Landman (#8), and Lioness (#9).
“Landman was one of the biggest shows of the year because of Taylor Sheridan’s unique ability to tap into the cultural zeitgeist, harnessing the Neo-Western themes of rugged individualism, ambition, and working-class struggles set against contemporary debates around energy, climate change and economic growth,” stated Chris McCarthy, President and CEO, Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios and Paramount Media Networks.
