Parents face when having newborns. One of the best episodes of the series imo. Loved the parallels between all the couples/families and how the women took charge of the problems their families were facing. And when it comes down to it that love and trust are the most important things in families.
Things begin hard as Toby has lost his job and is working like crazy to get a new one. They have the new baby and lots of expenses and Toby tries, but goes into a bit of a tailspin. He is scared. Kate is trying to keep a positive attitude. They are on their way to Kevin and Madison with their little ones. But Toby finds out on the way that the job he has hoped for hasn't materialized. It leads to some big time tension. Kevin, who has more money than we can imagine starts to talk about grandiose plans. He tries to give money to Kate and Toby and that exacerbates an already tense situation. In a second plot, Beth's mother is driving them crazy by being in a constant state of judgment. Malik has a problem. The entire Pearson clan is in disorder. In all cases, while problems aren't solved, they make due.
Awkward dinners together, but also perfect. Rebellious Tess one didn't get sorted out cuz she's gonna be like way for a while
The episode "I've Got This" from the fifth season of This Is Us shines with heartfelt realism as it portrays the struggles and joys of everyday life for parents of babies. The series masterfully captures the emotional complexity of raising a child, from the challenges in a couple's dynamics to the sacrifices required to adapt to new priorities. As always, the use of time jumps is impeccable, subtly weaving how past decisions and challenges shape the present. The way the episode contrasts the diverse social statuses of the characters, without falling into stereotypes, serves as a powerful reminder that everyone faces their own battles, albeit from different contexts. This episode deeply resonates and reinforces why This Is Us remains a storytelling masterpiece.
