The Trailer Park Boys actor stars alongside Corey Haim in this mystery-thriller from director Michael Masucci, available on DVD and Blu-ray now
Canadian actor Bernard Robichaud first made his mark on pop culture history by portraying the gun wielding maniac Cyrus on both the Trailer Park Boys TV show and its two spin-off movies. Now, Bernard can be seen acting opposite the late Corey Haim, who makes his final bow as a leading man in director Michael Masucci's thrilling mystery American Sunset. The movie serves as a great send-off for the beloved Haim, and a showcase for Robichaud, who turns in a damn fine dual performance as a Bounty Hunter/Lawyer.

Michael Masucci takes us behind-the-scenes of Corey Haim's last film, available on Blu-ray and DVD now
It has been one year since the death of beloved actor and former teen idol Corey Haim. In remembering the star of such classic films as The Lost Boys and Lucas, Global Universal has released American Sunset on Blu-ray and DVD. This murder mystery from director Michael Masucci features Corey Haim in his last starring role. We're huge fans of Corey, and having recently seen the film, we can tell you in all honesty that it's a great sendoff for Haim. It's a movie he would have been proud of, and it reestablishes the once troubled reality show celebrity as a great actor worthy of his former fame.
Corey Haim goes toe-to-toe with Frank Molina for a great deal of American Sunset's runtime, in a story about a young man desperately searching for his missing wife.

I recently had the opportunity to interview Michael Masucci, the CEO of Secret Shadows Productions Inc. and director of American Sunset. Masucci has worked in every facet of the filmmaking process, both behind and in front of the camera. He studied at Lee Strasberg Theater institute before turning his attention to Writing and Directing. Masucci was born and raised in upstate New York. Keep reading to learn more about Masucci's transition from stage to screen and what it was like working with the late Corey Haim on American Sunset.
What was it like making the transition from theater to the big screen?
As an actor, it was a transition at first because film is very different than theater. Film is so much more technical and you shoot out of sequence, and sometimes standing next to a piece of equipment which doesn’t belong there, or you can’t move because...

Corey Haim's last film, American Sunset, is now available on DVD and Blu-Ray. Haim died way to young and his films are a lasting memory of his contribution to cinema. Below is a video of Haim talking about his role in the film as well as a trailer for the movie.
Synopsis:
American Sunset unravels a mysterious conspiracy with numerous spellbinding plot twists revolving around a kidnapping ploy that robs a devoted husband of his true love, while playing a game that prolongs her safety by correctly responding to the kidnapper’s riddles. One wrong answer means fatal consequences. As the pursuit to save his wife plunges Haim’s character deeper into a corrupt world, the greedy, deceptive and immoral motives become increasingly obvious; this is not just a random kidnapping for money, this is deadly personal.
Here is what the film's producer had to say about Corey's performance.

Hundreds of fans and family members packed into a Toronto chapel today for Corey Haim’s memorial and burial services.
After an emotional funeral service Corey Haim was buried in his final resting place in his hometown on Mar. 16. More than two hundred friends and family members gathered and overflowed from the Steeles Memorial Chapel, where the private funeral service was held at 11 am. Those who could not fit into the chapel stood on the chapel lawn while inside Corey’s best friend (not Corey Feldman) an aunt and a cousin gave speeches. After a 45 minute service, a long funeral procession including seven police cars led friends and family to where Corey would be buried —the Pardes Shalom Cemetery. Afterwards, the family held a private shivah. Corey’s childhood Hollywood friend Corey Feldman did not attend the funeral out of respect for the family. He is expected to hold a...

Topics can range from anything: Sex, violence, haints and taints, your favorite movie! Paulington doesn't care. He's basically doing it for a paycheck. He's not really an expert on anything. Impish, irrepressible Canadian actor whose star reached its zenith with The Lost Boys
If the Artful Dodger had smartened himself up, dyed his hair, worn snazzy jackets with the sleeves rolled up, and sought an alternative career as a Jackie or My Guy cover star, he would have resembled Corey Haim at the peak of his career.
The Canadian actor, who has died unexpectedly aged 38, did not spend more than a few years in the limelight. Yet it was his chirpy, irrepressible personality, as much as the occasional high-profile film role between the mid-1980s and early 90s, that earned him the affectionate regard of mainstream audiences. Out of a meagre selection of movies, many of which went straight to video or DVD, it was the 1987 vampire romp The Lost Boys which earned him his teenybopper fanbase. The lopsided smile, impish eyes and jauntily spiked hair made him perfect pin-up fodder.

Corey Haim, arguably the 1980's equivalent of Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson, passed away at 38, apparently of a drug overdose, a tragedy that appears to have been accidental, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Though Haim fell on hard times both personally and professionally, Haim and fellow actor Corey Feldman -- collectively referred to as the "Two Coreys" -- once ruled the film world and were teen heartthrobs of the highest order. Haim, who hailed from Canada, arrived on the scene with the drama Firstborn (1984), starring opposite Peter Weller and Teri Garr, gained additional traction with Silver Bullet (1985) and Murphy's Romance (1985), and completely won over audiences with his heartbreaking, utterly natural turn as the lovable loser title character in Lucas (1986), with Charlie Sheen. But it was the handsome young actor's collaborations with Feldman that transformed him into a major star: The Lost Boys (1987), License to Drive (1988), and Dream a Little Dream...

Corey Haim's movie career probably reached its highpoint with one well-regarded, well-remembered vampire movie, 1987's The Lost Boys. That title became the sadly ironic tag that followed his descent from success to his tragic end, another premature Hollywood death in a shockingly short span. The cute kid with the tangled hair and the curling upper lip that hinted at hip self-awareness - well, he was sidelined. He was replaced by a spaced-out stranger who often looked bloated - he claimed at one point to have weighed 285 pounds after spending almost a decade as a shut-in, depressed and in bed.

The last couple of years really have been a rough period, with actors, actresses, directors and other figures within the film industry passing away. Sadly, today we’re hearing the news that actor Corey Haim passed away in the early hours of this morning at the age of 38.
Haim was an actor probably best known for his role in The Lost Boys when he was just 16 but he also starred in thirty-eight other movies and TV shows over the years. He had notable collaborations with his Lost Boys co-star, Corey Feldman, seven times throughout his career, including on a reality show called The Two Coreys. He had completed two films, New Terminal Hotel and American Sunset, that are currently in the pipeline. Haim also had a few other projects either currently filming or in-development, which sadly he didn’t have a chance to finish.

According to The Los Angeles Times, '80s teen idol Corey Haim was found unresponsive at 3:30 Am this morning in an Oakwood, CA, apartment. He was taken to a hospital in Burbank, where he was officially pronounced dead. The Los Angeles Police Department said that the cause was an apparent accidental drug overdose, although an autopsy has yet to be performed.
Haim is perhaps best remembered for two star-making roles in the mid '80s. The movie, interestingly, was the debut for Winona Ryder and also featured a breakout role for Charlie Sheen.

American Sunset was completed in 2009 and now the film will have a kick-off party, this Monday, November 8th. Corey Haim and other filmmakers will be on hand at a "private after party," for those fortunate enough to see the screening of American Sunset, in Los Angeles. If by “awesome” you mean, “Whoa, is this some kind of parody of Hollywood movie trailers?” While watching the trailer for Corey Haim’s “American Sunset”, some kind of crime thriller about a kidnapped wife and a mysterious kidnapper, I kept having flashbacks to comedian Pablo Francisco, who features the “voice of the movie trailer guy” in his act. (Check out the comparisons below). Honestly, this trailer is cut almost exactly as if it was a parody, complete with ridiculous lines from Haim in-between the overly earnest movie trailer guy’s voiceover. “American Sunset” is a story about love and sacrifice. It’s an edge-of-your-seat shocking thriller about how one ordinary man traveled to hell and back to save his wife. American Sunset will hold its red carpet, world premiere at the Laemmle Theatre in Santa Monica on November 9, 2009, and will be followed by a private after party where fans can meet and greet their teenage crush. Apparently Corey's personal website is the place to secure tickets to this exclusive premiere event. Ever since his boyish face and cheeky grin burst onto cinema screens in the 1980s, Corey Haim has been synonymous with movie escapades that involve narrow escapes and near misses, usually alongside his ‘80s sidekick Corey Feldman. Their screen relationship included films such as Dream A Little Dream, License To Drive and vampire classic The Lost Boys among others, as well as the more recent reality TV show The Two Corey's, which used as its title their eighties stardom nickname and amazingly made it to two seasons.
