It has been one year since the death of beloved actor and former teen idol Corey Haim. In remembering the star of such classic films as The Lost Boys and Lucas, Global Universal has released American Sunset on Blu-ray and DVD. This murder mystery from director Michael Masucci features Corey Haim in his last starring role. We're huge fans of Corey, and having recently seen the film, we can tell you in all honesty that it's a great sendoff for Haim. It's a movie he would have been proud of, and it reestablishes the once troubled reality show celebrity as a great actor worthy of his former fame.

Corey Haim goes toe-to-toe with Frank Molina for a great deal of American Sunset's runtime, in a story about a young man desperately searching for his missing wife.

I recently had the opportunity to interview Michael Masucci, the CEO of Secret Shadows Productions Inc. and director of American Sunset. Masucci has worked in every facet of the filmmaking process, both behind and in front of the camera. He studied at Lee Strasberg Theater institute before turning his attention to Writing and Directing. Masucci was born and raised in upstate New York. Synopsis:

ID Communications has picked up Corey Haim's last movie "American Sunset" at Miptv.

Haim stars in the thriller as Tom McClean, a man whose wife (Angela Cullins) is abducted while on vacation in Canada. He decides to take the law into his own hands and hires an ex-war hero turned P.I. (Frank Molina) to help track her down.

Hundreds of fans and family members packed into a Toronto chapel today for Corey Haim’s memorial and burial services.

After an emotional funeral service Corey Haim was buried in his final resting place in his hometown on Mar. 16. More than two hundred friends and family members gathered and overflowed from the Steeles Memorial Chapel, where the private funeral service was held at 11 am. Those who could not fit into the chapel stood on the chapel lawn while inside Corey’s best friend (not Corey Feldman) an aunt and a cousin gave speeches. After a 45 minute service, a long funeral procession including seven police cars led friends and family to where Corey would be buried —the Pardes Shalom Cemetery. Impish, irrepressible Canadian actor whose star reached its zenith with The Lost Boys

If the Artful Dodger had smartened himself up, dyed his hair, worn snazzy jackets with the sleeves rolled up, and sought an alternative career as a Jackie or My Guy cover star, he would have resembled Corey Haim at the peak of his career.

The Canadian actor, who has died unexpectedly aged 38, did not spend more than a few years in the limelight. Yet it was his chirpy, irrepressible personality, as much as the occasional high-profile film role between the mid-1980s and early 90s, that earned him the affectionate regard of mainstream audiences. Out of a meagre selection of movies, many of which went straight to video or DVD, it was the 1987 vampire romp The Lost Boys which earned him his teenybopper fanbase. The lopsided smile, impish eyes and jauntily spiked hair made him perfect pin-up fodder.

During the filming of Corey's final film, "Decisions," he was also caring for his mother, who is battling breast cancer.

Haim was an actor probably best known for his role in The Lost Boys when he was just 16 but he also starred in thirty-eight other movies and TV shows over the years. According to The Los Angeles Times, '80s teen idol Corey Haim was found unresponsive at 3:30 Am this morning in an Oakwood, CA, apartment. He was taken to a hospital in Burbank, where he was officially pronounced dead. The Los Angeles Police Department said that the cause was an apparent accidental drug overdose, although an autopsy has yet to be performed.

Haim is perhaps best remembered for two star-making roles in the mid '80s. In Lucas, he played a 14-year-old accelerated high school student who falls for a girl two years older (played by fellow '80s icon Kerri Green). The movie, interestingly, was the debut for Winona Ryder and also featured a breakout role for Charlie Sheen.
