Disney's new live-action Snow White seemed doomed from the start, with a bevy of boos heard around the world when the trailer was released. If you're one of the people who dislike the new iteration of Snow White, you may get a sick kick out of seeing Grimm's fairy tale get particularly grim in a new horror twist on the story, coming to theaters in April. Entertainment Squad and their genre label, The Horror Collective, has acquired North American digital distribution rights to The Death of Snow White, a horror thriller starring Sanae Loutsis, Chelsea Edmundson, Tristan Nokes, Meredith Binder, Colin Miller, and Dillon Moore, from Real Fiction and Stl Productions.

Shrinking star Michael Urie has been tapped to host the Los Angeles awards event on March 27. And he said he’s “honored” to get the gig. “Our queer siblings across the country who are being unfairly persecuted and villainized deserve a night that reminds them that they’re not alone,” said the multi-hyphenate talent. “Media is one of the strongest tools we have to fight against stereotypes and hate. I am inspired by the power that art and media can have on society and proud to honor and celebrate our nominees.”

Exclusive: Indie distribution company Entertainment Squad has acquired dormant LGBTQ+ label PrideFlix and appointed former Odin’s Eye exec Martin Gallery as Vice President of Sales and Acquisitions.

Gallery will spearhead acquisitions for the revitalized label and focus on Entertainment Squad’s international sales slate, meeting with buyers at EFM Berlin next month.

Entertainment Squad has previously been active in the LGBTQ+ space with releases such as Summoning Sylvia, Exteriors, and Lover of Men: The Untold History of Abraham Lincoln. Under Gallery’s leadership, the label aims to expand its number of acquisitions.

Casting Society (CSA) on Tuesday announced that the 40th Annual Artios Awards honoring casting professionals will be held on February 12, 2025 jointly at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills and the Edison Ballroom in New York City – with a London venue yet to be revealed. It also unveiled its newly-elected Board of Directors for 2024-25.

The current CSA president Destiny Lilly said, “I am privileged to continue my role as President of CSA, especially as we prepare to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Artios Awards, a wonderful milestone in our ongoing mission to support and spotlight the contributions of casting professionals globally. The ceremony honors top casting in the year’s films, TV and theater. The celebrations were in person for the first time in three years, taking place in Los Angeles and New York City with hosts Niecy Nash-Betts and comedian Alex Edelman dividing up emcee duties between the cities. There was also a ceremony for casting directors in London.

With the newly added Academy Award for casting, the night certainly was a celebration. Starting in 2026, there will be a prize for best achievement in casting, the culmination of a campaign for recognition that has taken decades.

Between February 10 and March 7, a dozen motion picture guilds lauded the most outstanding achievements in their respective fields during the previous year. The 2024 guild awards season then officially concluded with the announcement of the Writers Guild of America honors on April 14. In the end, “Oppenheimer” outpaced all of its competitors with prizes from nine guilds.

Typically, all 13 guilds hand out their trophies before the corresponding Oscars take place, but this year’s WGA Awards were delayed six weeks because of the organization’s recent 148-day strike. The CSA previously announced the nominees for its television, theater, short film and short-form series categories on Oct. 24.

While Danny and Michael Philippou’s A24 flick Talk to Me may be the belle of the ball right now, Entertainment Squad’s label, The Horror Collective is promising that horror fans are in for a real treat with the upcoming feature Ghosts of the Void. The title was officially picked up by the label just a few days ahead of its screening at the ninth annual Popcorn Frights which is currently underway in South Beach, Miami. The exclusive to Collider acquisition news means that Ghosts of the Void will find itself on a roster alongside other titles including Bring Out the Fear, Summoning Sylvia, and Mean Spirited.

Exclusive: Spotlight casting director Paul Schnee is making his directorial debut in a comedy-drama TV series.

Frankie Grande was born on January 24, 1983 (Frankie Grande’s age: 40) in New York City to Victor Marchione and Joan Grande. His father has been employed as a physician while his mother is chief executive officer of the telephone and alarm system company Hose-McCann Communications.

Troy Iwata: I actually auditioned for Kevin originally, sent in an audition tape for that and then just got an offer for Reggie so I was like…ok. Any opportunity that offers a refreshing glimpse into queer representation I’m all for. First off I was obsessed with how funny the script was and the blending of genres was enticing as well. I loved that it was a story that took place after the coming-out process, after the self-discovery and acceptance process. There’s an entire life that happens after all of those journeys for queer people and it’s light and beautiful...
