Magic Mike actor Alex Pettyfer and Charlotte Le Bon have joined the indie sci-fi drama Warning from director Agata Alexander and The Exchange.
They join James D’Arcy, Laura Harrier and Mena Massoud (Alladin, Jack Ryan), who were earlier announced as part of the ensemble cast.
Warning, structured as a sci-fi anthology series, explores loneliness, death and the meaning of life when vastly disparate lives collide in interweaving stories set in a near future Earth.

The Exchange (Hahithalfut, 2011) is the latest feature from Eran Kolirin, who made a crowd-pleasing debut with his 2007 comedy The Band’s Visit. His new film is also intended as a comedy, but contains very few laughs. It concerns Oded, a PhD student in physics, who lives in quiet contentment with his wife Tami, a recently-graduated architect looking for work. One day, Oded forgets a binder at home: he returns to his apartment, and is intrigued to see how different everything looks in the midday light. His fascination rapidly turns to obsession: from that day on, he finds any excuse to come home during the day and contemplate his flat, silently and alone, doing his best to avoid Tami. He finds a co-conspiritor in Yoav, an older neighbour who introduces him to new forms of eccentric behaviour.

Hot on the heels of the release of the first wave of films announced to screen at the Toronto Film Festival, comes the main lineup for the 68th Venice Film Festival, which runs from August 31 to September 10. There are a few highly anticipated films that appear here that are not yet scheduled for Tiff including the spy thriller Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy from Let the Right One In director Tomas Alfredson. Also on the list is Roman Polanski‘s Carnage and the latest film from Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos, whose film Dogtooth made our best end year list both in 2009 and 2010. Personally my most anticipated film is A Dangerous Method by my favourite filmmaker David Cronenberg.

This year’s line-up for the 68th Venice Film Festival, taking place between 31st August and 10th September, has been announced by the festival’s official website, and as expected, it’s more than a little bit fantastic, with a brilliant line-up of films set to screen in Italy.
Heading the jury this year will be director Darren Aronofsky, the BBC reported back in April, who won the festival’s top prize, the Golden Lion, back in 2008 for The Wrestler.
The list, as you can imagine, is a bit of a long one, so I’ve highlighted some of the hottest tipped to look out for beneath. Playing in competition will be:
Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, directed by Tomas Alfredson Wuthering Heights, directed by Andrea Arnold Texas Killing Fields, directed by Ami Canaan Mann The Ides of March, directed by George Clooney Quando La Notte, directed by Cristina Comencini Terraferma,...

Just a few days after Tiff had announced its first 50 films from this year’s festival slate, the Venice Film Festival has announced their own lineup, and I must say, it’s one hell of a collective.
Criterion Collection nuts will have a field day here, as various directors from the collection will be bringing their new films to Italy this year.
First up, in competition, David Cronenberg will be taking his new film, A Dangerous Method, to Venice this year, making it one of the bigger fall festival season players this year. Steve McQueen’s Shame will play this year, as will Andrea Arnold’s (Fish Tank) Wuthering Heights. Roman Polanski will debut his latest film, Carnage, at Venice this year, as will Todd Solondz, who brings Dark Horse this year.
Out of competition, Chantal Akerman and Whit Stillman will debut their next projects, La Folie Almayer and Damsels In Distress respectively.

The 68th Venice Film Festival has unveiled this years line-up of movies that will show during the festival which takes place from August 31st to September 10th. Hot on the heels of the release of a massive batch of films [1] that will appear in the Toronto Film Festival, we've got the main lineup for the 68th Venice Film Festival, which runs from August 31 to September 10. We knew that George Clooney's The Ides of March would open the fest (the trailer premiered last night and you can see it here [2]) and this list confirms quite a few films that we imagined would be playing Venice. Our very much anticipated spy thriller Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy from Let the Right One In director Tomas Alfredson is on the list, as is Roman Polanski's tense closed-room drama Carnage, starring Kate Winslet, Jodie Foster, John C. Reilly and Christoph Waltz. And there is Alps, the second film from polarizing Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos, whose film Dogtooth shocked, entertained and angered festival audiences in 2009. The full list is after the break.

The Venice Film Festival has just announced its official line-up, and it looks to be an embarrassment of cinematic riches. As noted by Variety, the festival’s competitive slate includes new films from David Cronenberg (the Freud-Jung thriller A Dangerous Method), Marjane Satrapi (Chicken with Plums), Abel Ferrara (4:44 Last Day on Earth), Roman Polanski (Carnage, adapted from the play God of Carnage), and George Clooney (The Ides of March), not to mention Alps, the new film from Yorgos Lanthimos, who made the creepily hilarious Dogtooth. Possibly even more fun are the films opening out of competition, including Steven Soderbergh’s Contagion,...

Earlier this week, we reported on the major films debuting at this year's Venice Film Festival. The line-up includes The Ides of March (opening night film), Contagion, Carnage, A Dangerous Method, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, and plenty of other great stuff. Now the full line-up has been released and while the previously unannounced films are foreign flicks you've probably never heard of (plus the first film Al Pacino has directed in over a decade, Wilde Salome), Venice is a great opportunity for those movies to get on everyone's radar (provided they aren't overshadowed by the star-studded flicks). Also, the festival will close out with Wilt Stillman's new movie, Damsels in Distress. Hit the jump to check out the full line-up. Today's announcement for the 2011 Venice Film Festival lineup basically crosses off plenty of sure bets we had been anticipating and makes us circle a bunch of titles we thought had a chance for a 2011 showing, but now become hot items for the 2012 campaign. Films such as Juan Diego Solanas' Upside Down, Rodrigo Cortés' Red Lights, Pen-ek Ratanaruang's Headshot, Brillante Mendoza's Prey look more and more like Cannes 2012 items, while acquisition titles such as Antonio Campos' Simon Killer and Nick Cassavetes' Yellow wouldn't be out of place for a Sundance showing. And all of a sudden, Wong Kar-wai going to Cannes with The Grandmaster isn't such a far-fetched idea after all, but Thierry Frémaux probably already knew this. Among the titles we look forward in seeing in the Competition line-up that should follow in the double premiere route from Lido to downtown Toronto such as the already announced Shame,...

Hollywoodnews.com: The Venice Film Festival unveiled its full line up this morning, programming a number of big-ticket titles with serious awards dreams.
As expected, there is overlap between the 68th Venice Fest and the first wave of films announced for the Toronto International Film Festival, from Madonna’s King Edward VIII drama “W.E.” to David Cronenberg’s “A Dangerous Method.” But Venice also boasts a few films that Tiff does not have on its schedule … yet. That would be Tomas Alfredson’s anticipated “Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy” and Roman Polanski’s “Carnage.”
The fest will open on Aug. 31 with the world premiere of George Clooney’s political drama “The Ides of March.” We have a full roster of films in and out of competition for the Venice Film Festival below:

I always find it interesting to see what Toronto International Film Festival gets compared to Venice. There is certainly some crossover for the latter fest that begins a few days before Toronto, but Venice will usually get a handful of exclusive premieres. We already got Toronto’s initial line-up, and now Deadline reports on Venice.
At first glance, they are getting the big premiere of Tomas Alfredson‘s Let The Right One In follow-up, the spy thriller Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. They also get Andrea Arnold‘s Fish Tank follow-up Wuthering Heights, as well as Ami Canaan Maan‘s debut Texas Killing Fields. Yorgos Lanthimos‘ Dogtooth follow-up Alps will be premiered there as well, along with Roman Polanski‘s Carnage. Steven Soderbergh‘s Contagion and Madonna‘s W.E. will be showing out of competition. Check out the solid list below.

The line-up for the 2011 Venice Film Festival was unveiled a little earlier today and this year’s edition looks particularly stacked on the English-language side of things with a large number of dramatic outputs from the U.K. and U.S.
Dozens and dozens of high-intrigue fare are set to be premiering over the two week event which kicks off proceedings on August 31st with the George Clooney directed political thriller The Ides of March as an in-competition film. A trailer was released last night and you can see it Here.
The other big headliners include;

The 68th Venice Film Festival has unveiled its film lineup of pictures that will run from Aug. 31 to Sept. 10. It begins with the George Clooney-directed The Ides of March and concludes with Whit Stillman's Damsels in Distress. Every fall fest tries to be a harbinger of Oscar gold, but last year's winner, the Sofia Coppola-directed Somewhere, became mired in controversy and was a total non-factor in an Oscar race that was shaped by film launches in rival festivals that included Toronto, Telluride and the New York Film Festival. Robert here (of Distant Relatives) with some thoughts on the lineups for the Toronto and Venice International Film Festivals which were announced Wednesday morning. And Oh Canada (and Viva Italia!) are they impressive.
Let's begin with Venice since it's up first.
Venice
First up, the many films that will be vying for awards and spots on prestigious top 10 lists at the end of the year. I mention them first because while there's much to anticipate about them all, there's not too much left to say. They've staked their claim and now we must wait for word to start rolling in. So we can see if Roman Polanski's late career semi-resurgence can continue with the impressive cast of Carnage, or whether Steven Soderberg's Contagion can live up to that buzzy trailer. Meanwhile David Cronenberg's A Dangerous Method sets out to prove that just because he doesn't make movies with...

It seems there have been a lot of articles speculating as to which films will be showing at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival this year, each of them pretty much naming the same films. However, the only film confirmed is Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris which will open the fest. The rest is simply speculation and rumor, but now the most comprehensive and seemingly "in the know" list has surfaced.
Of the films currently expected to hit the Croisette, but obviously in no way confirmed yet seem to be among the most likely, are Terrence Malick's The Tree of Life, Pedro Almodovar's The Skin I Live In, Gus Van Sant's Restless and Lars von Trier's Melancholia.

The Berlin Film Festival begins today and in typical Ioncinema.com fashion, I've decided to unveil my predictions for the 2011 edition of the Cannes Film Festival. I've taken the liberty at breaking down the predictions by what should logically fit into what sections: Main Comp, Ucr and the Director's Fortnight sidebar. In the Main Competition category, we should see an increase in the number of titles selected (perhaps hovering around the twenty mark. We can cross out films such as Haneke's latest, Kamen Kalev's The Island, Raymond Depardon's Journal de France, Andrei Zvyagintsev's (2007's Banishment) latest and I wouldn't be surprised if Walter Salles' On the Road isn't completed on time -- and in what should be a vintage year for the festival, these no-shows won't matter. A pair that remain in limbo are the alreasy completed David Cronenberg's A Dangerous Method and Pawel Pawlikowski...
