As he came to the forced end of his career, Bruce Willis starred in more than 20 straight-to-dvd movies that, at the time of their release, were panned by critics and saw the actor temporarily being given his own Razzie award category. Many of those movies were seen in a different light following the revelation of Willis’ dementia diagnosis, and two of them are now streaming on Hulu for fans to evaluate for themselves.

Fortress and its sequel, Fortress: Sniper's Eye, were released in 2021 and 2022, respectively. Willis plays Robert Michaels, a former U.S. intelligence officer now living in a top-secret resort away from the world and his life of danger. The new movie, which is unrelated to the Father of the Bride franchise, is a Netflix original romantic comedy that also stars Brooke Shields, Miranda Cosgrove, Sean Teale, Rachael Harris, and Benjamin Bratt. It comes from a screenplay by Robin Bernheim, whose previous collaborations with the streaming service include the Princess Switch trilogy and A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding.

October 1: Bruce Willis recently announced his retirement from acting when his family revealed his aphasia diagnosis, but that doesn’t mean you’ll never see the “Pulp Fiction” star on screen again.

A new report from The Telegraph reveals that Willis has sold the rights to digitally recreate his likeness, allowing the actor to “appear” in film and television projects without ever having to step foot on set. The technical wizardry is handled by Deepcake, a new firm that specializes in creating “digital twins” of prominent celebrities.

While Willis is first major celebrity to sell the rights to his physical appearance in this fashion, the trend of using AI technology to recreate iconic performances is clearly picking up steam.

The action-thriller starring Willis, Jesse Metcalfe and Chad Michael Murray is a sequel to 2021’s “Fortress” and is set to be released in select theaters, as well as on digital platforms and VOD. Big-screen icon Bruce Willis is stepping away from acting following a recent diagnosis of aphasia, a brain condition that impacts cognitive abilities and speech. Willis’ eldest daughter, Rumer Willis, made the announcement on Instagram on Tuesday, sharing a joint statement from his family about Willis’ condition. Aphasia is caused by brain damage, and affects an individual’s ability to communicate.

“To Bruce’s amazing supporters, as a family we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities,” Rumer Willis wrote in the statement. “As a result of this and with much consideration Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him.”
