Kevin Bacon is set to direct and star in the new horror comedy Family Movie. An A-list actor, Bacon is known for various prominent roles, such as in Footloose, The Woodsman, Hollow Man, and Mystic River. More recently, the actor has had roles in Leave the World Behind, Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, and the Ti West X franchise film MaXXXine. Bacon also has a famous wife, Kyra Sedgwick, who is also an actor. Sedgwick is known for her roles in The Closer, Phenomenon, and The Woodsman.

As per Variety, Bacon is now developing a horror comedy called Family Movie. The film will be co-directed by him and Sedgwick, who will also star in the film. Bacon and Sedgwick's real-life children, Sosie and Travis Bacon, will also be featured in the movie. All four Bacon family members will produce for Mixed Breed Films. Norman Golighty will also produce for Dark Castle Entertainment.

Golden Globe Award-winning actor Kevin Bacon has set his next horror movie after starring in the smash-hit A24 slasher MaXXXine, and it's about to be an entire family affair. Bacon, his Emmy Award-winning wife Kyra Sedgwick, and their two adult children, Travis and Sosie Bacon, will star together in a new horror-comedy titled Family Movie.

The talented family will produce this film for Mixed Breed Films in collaboration with Norman Golightly at Dark Castle Entertainment. Dark Castle is best known for being behind other horror movies such as House on Haunted Hill, House of Wax, Orphan and Orphan: First Kill. Besides Family Movie, Dark Castle is currently working on a third Orphan movie.

Neon International will handle the foreign rights and present the horror-comedy at the American Film Market this week, while CAA Media Finance will manage the U.S. rights. Besides producing and starring in the movie, Bacon and Sedgwick will also direct.

Cooper Koch, who plays Erik Menendez in Ryan Murphy’s Netflix series “Monsters,” told TheWrap how he got into character to play the convicted murderer.

“I turned my trailer into Erik’s room so I had clothes everywhere, and I had pictures of him on the wall, pictures of me too,” said the actor, whose previous credits include “They/Them” and “Power Book II: Ghost,” at Monday night’s Los Angeles premiere.

Erik was 21 and his brother Lyle was 18 in 1989 when they shot and killed their parents, José and Kitty (played in the series by Javier Bardem and Chloë Sevigny) after years of alleged abuse. Both brothers were convicted and are still serving life sentences in prison.

“I looked at videos of me when I was really young, and I watched how my parents treated me, which gave me a level of gratitude for my family and my parents. I listened to [Erik] and watched him religiously.

Kevin Bacon has been in a good number of horror films over the decades, and he has admitted that he’s drawn to working in the genre because he’s a horror fan himself. Now it has been revealed that he and his wife Kyra Sedgwick are such big fans of the genre that they’re planning to co-direct and star in a horror film – and they’ve cast their daughter Sosie Bacon, who starred in the horror hit Smile, as a co-star!

Variety caught up with Sedgwick to interview her about her role in the Off Broadway play All of Me, and along the way they mentioned that she’s currently developing “a horror film she would star in with Bacon and their adult daughter, Sosie. The show is an original idea from and has a script by Grainger David, who will also executive produce. Erik Oleson will serve as showrunner and executive producer via CrimeThink. Variety reports that Bacon has been cast in the Blumhouse Television series The Bondsman, a new show that's been ordered straight to series for a streaming release on Prime Video. Per the logline, Bacon will play Hub Halloran, a "backwoods bounty hunter who comes back from the dead with an unexpected second chance at life, love, and a nearly-forgotten musical career — only to find that his old job now has a demonic new twist.”

Reportedly, the concept of The Bondsman comes from Grainger David, who penned the script. Erik Oleson is also on board as showrunner. Along with starring in the lead role, Bacon is also serving as an executive producer. Other executive producers include David, CrimeThink's Oleson and Paul Shapiro, and Blumhouse Television's Jason Blum, Chris McCumber, Jeremy Gold, and Chris Dickie.

One of Kevin Bacon’s earliest roles came in the 1980 slasher classic Friday the 13th, and he has enjoyed returning to the horror genre now and then ever since. A few years ago, he teamed up with Blumhouse Television to try to get a television series follow-up to the creature feature Tremors going at Syfy. That didn’t work out, but now Bacon and Blumhouse Television are joining forces again for a horror action series called The Bondsman!

Deadline reports that The Bondsman is set up at Amazon’s Prime Video. Bacon will be taking on the role of Hub Halloran, a backwoods bounty hunter who comes back from the dead with an unexpected second chance at life, and love, and a nearly-forgotten musical career — only to find that his old job now has a demonic new twist.

The first season of the series is expected to consist of eight half-hour episodes.

MaXXXine is the third title in A24‘s first major horror franchise, on the heels of West’s films X and Pearl, both of which were released to much acclaim last year. Antoine Fuqua has moonwalked into the director’s chair for a new Michael Jackson biopic, which will star Jackson’s 26-year-old nephew, Jaafar Jackson.

As previously reported, the script for Michael comes from John Logan, the screenwriter behind several good movies and a few duds (Star Trek: Nemesis). According to Deadline, the film will “deal squarely with the pedophile accusations that dogged his later years up to his death in 2009 at age 50, from cardiac arrest caused by a cocktail of sedatives.” However, Michael comes with the blessing of the Jackson estate and will be produced by Graham King, best known for the toothless Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, so maybe don’t expect anything too damaging to the Jackson brand.

John Hyams, director of the very cool 2020 thriller Alone, has teamed up with Scream screenwriter Kevin Williamson to bring us the pandemic slasher Sick, which is set in April of 2020. Right after the world shut down due to Covid-19. Sick is set to be released through the Peacock streaming service on Friday, January 13th – and a trailer for the film can be seen in the embed above!
