Memento Intl., the well-established Paris-based international sales company behind “Call Me by Your Name,” is rebranding as Paradise City Sales and is bringing “My Notes on Mars,” starring Greta Lee and Andrew Scott, to the EFM.
Emilie Georges, who founded Memento Intl. 20 years ago, launched the production vehicle Paradise City a few years ago with London-based Naima Abed. The pair have had great success with the pics they delivered, notably 2025 Sundance hit ”Atropia,” starring Alia Shawkat and Channing Tatum, and Anthony Chen’s 2023 drama ”Drift,” with Cynthia Erivo. “My Notes of Mars,” Hungarian director Lili Horvát’s English-language debut feature, is the latest co-production on Paradise City’s slate.
The rebranding comes at a pivotal time as Georges and Abed seek to build a closer bond between production and sales. As such, the sales outlet will now operate under the same Paradise City banner, which has offices in Paris and London,...

The first episode of Hulu’s new TV show Paradise ends with a moody cover of Phil Collins’ “Another Day in Paradise,” by Joyner. However, things could have gone in a different direction for the twisty political thriller, if Guns N’ Roses had gotten on board.
In a recent Variety profile of series star Sterling K. Brown, it was revealed that the original title for Paradise was in fact Paradise City. However, writer Jennifer Maas explains, the title “was shortened when the studio couldn’t come to terms with Guns N’ Roses on use of the band’s 1988 hit song of the same name, or its title.”
Without getting into spoilers, Paradise takes place in an idyllic community where the former President of the United States is being protected by Secret Service agent Xavier Collins (Brown) — until, that is, President Cal Bradford (James Marsden) is unexpectedly found dead.

In addition, the film was scripted by experienced screenwriters Corey Large and Edward John Drake. Cash Out opens with Mason Goddard and his crew stealing an outrageously expensive supercar as what he intends to be his last heist. Things don’t go as planned however as one of them, his girlfriend Amelia no less, is an undercover FBI agent. He barely escapes, and since he was already planning to retire, takes it one step further, he fakes his death and drops out of sight.
Three months later, his brother Shawn drops by trying to interest him in coming out of retirement for one more job. That doesn’t work, but when another member of the crew, Link calls he’s packing and on his way to the airport.
The next thing we know, Mason and Shawn are kidnapping a bank manager and the plan is in motion.

Kurt Sutter has been moving on from the world of Sons of Anarchy and Mayans M.C. with the development of his upcoming Netflix series, The Abandons. Even so, at least one major name from the franchise will be teaming back up with Sutter as one of the stars of the new show.
Per Variety, Ryan Hurst is one of three new cast additions to The Abandons, a Western drama series in the works at Netflix. This marks a Sons of Anarchy reunion, as Hurst previously played Opie in the hit show created by Sutter. The actor is also known for his role as Beta in AMC's The Walking Dead. Sterling K. Brown doesn’t like drawing attention to himself, especially when it comes to fashion. But since earning his first Oscar nomination for best supporting actor for his role in Cord Jefferson’s comedy-drama American Fiction, even more eyes have been on the three-time Emmy-winning TV and film star.
“I’ll be honest with you, it is at times a bit overwhelming, especially when it comes to clothes and all the gear,” says Brown, 47, whose awards season obligations pile on by the day. “You can’t just go back and get your same suit every time. You’ve got to come with a fit that’s got a little bit of drip to it.”
Brown’s had good practice, portraying Clifford Ellison in the film based on Percival Everett’s 2001 novel Erasure. The flamboyant plastic surgeon is the brother of main character Thelonious “Monk” Ellison (Jeffrey Wright), a writer and professor who,...

Brian De Palma's "Carrie" was the film that defined a generation. Its blend of coming-of-age themes, fantastical magic, and slasher-style bloodshed makes it a genre-bending film that time just can't seem to forget.
The 1976 horror tells the story of a sheltered girl who lives under her obsessively religious mother's tyrannical rule, a dictatorship made all the worse by the onset of Carrie's period. Her mother's frenzy combined with a cruel prank at the prom pushes the shy young girl to a mental break, complete with telekinetic powers. The Stephen King adaptation launched some incredibly notable careers, including John Travolta, who plays high school bully Billy Nolan. Sadly, not all of the cast has lived to see the end of 2023, including Piper Laurie, whose performance as Carrie's mother earned her one of three Oscar nominations in her lifetime.

Updated with statement from Rose’s attorney: A new lawsuit accuses Guns ‘N Roses singer Axl Rose of sexual assault and battery over an alleged attack in a Manhattan hotel suite in 1989.
Sheila Kennedy’s suit claims she “suffered severe emotional, physical, financial and psychological distress” when Rose (real name William Bailey) “used his fame, status, and power as a celebrity and performer in the music industry to gain access to manipulate, control, and violently sexually assault” her.
The case was filed under New York’s Adult Survivors Act, which provides a one-year window for sexual assault plaintiffs to file civil claims, regardless of the statute of limitations. That window closes on Thursday.
“Simply put, this incident never happened,” said Rose’s attorney, Alan S. Gutman of Gutman Law. “Notably, these fictional claims were filed the day before the New York State filing deadline expires. Though he doesn’t deny...

Bruce Willis' family confirmed that his aphasia has rendered him mostly incommunicative, taking away his language skills and leaving him without his former joie de vivre. Recent updates suggest that Bruce Willis' acting return is becoming more unlikely, as his condition has advanced and there are currently no specific treatments for his diagnosis of aphasia. Despite his health concerns, Bruce Willis leaves behind a significant legacy in film, showcasing his talent in action, comedy, and drama genres, and receiving support and admiration from collaborators and colleagues.
As his star-making show finally makes its way to streaming, Moonlighting creator Glenn Gordon Caron has offered a disheartening update on Bruce Willis' health. The 1996 American film The Craft has an excellent cast which has gone on to feature in a multitude of movies and TV shows since its release. The Craft follows four outcast teen girls with supernatural abilities who come together to form a coven and take revenge on the people who have wronged them. The film did surprisingly well at the box office, grossing over $50 million against its $15 million budget, and it has since become a cult classic. Though it did not win any major awards, the film received mostly positive reviews from critics and was a hit with audiences.

Country-pop star Carrie Underwood opened the first two shows of Guns N’ Roses ‘ 2023 North American tour, and she worked a handful of rock classics into her setlist on each occasion.
Underwood’s first support slot for Gn’R came this past Saturday (August 5th) in Moncton, New Brunswick, where she opened with Joan Jett’s “Bad Reputation” and played Pat Benatar’s “Hit Me with Your Best Shot,” The Rolling Stones’ “Wild Horses,” Led Zeppelin’s “Rock and Roll,” and lastly and most notably, the Motörhead staple “Ace of Spades.”
Hearing Underwood and her band take on a song bordering on heavy metal is a treat, proving that the singer can pull off heavy music with as much energy and conviction as her standard Nashville fare. Of course, it also appeals to the crowd largely consisting of Gn’R fans.

Carrie Underwood, as both a country singer and an American Idol winner, knows that the stakes are high and the odds are against her as the opening act for Guns N’ Roses. But as she has been proving this week, she’s willing to gamble — just like Motörhead’s late frontman Lemmy Kilmister. At gigs in Moncton, New Brunswick, and Montreal in the past few days, she’s included a raucous rendition of Kilmister’s calling card, “Ace of Spades,” in her set list.

Writer/director Nicholas Maggio made the action thriller Mob Land for his 13-year-old self, inspired by independent films of the 1990s. Maggio was inspired to create the story after meeting guys in northern Alabama who were avid muscle cars fans and documenting their lives. John Travolta plays a beleaguered sheriff caught in the crossfire of a revenge-seeking mafia in the film, which pays homage to the American neo-noir genre.
Here’s a case for catharsis through creativity. Writer/director Nicholas Maggio made the new John Travolta action thriller Mob Land for his 13-year-old self. “I was 13 and in my friend's basement in Pennsylvania, and we got a copy of the VHS for Reservoir Dogs,” Maggio admitted. “I remember having my mind just absolutely blown that this was all possible. I didn't know that film because I grew up with my dad. We watched Ben-Hur and Lawrence of Arabia. We didn't watch French Connection or Bullet.

Exclusive: LA-based comic book publisher Sumerian is lining up a comic book series based on the 2000 horror classic American Psycho, starring Christian Bale as iconic madman Patrick Bateman.
The four-issue comic book series, publishing later this year, will have a dual narrative, one showing a different perspective of Bateman’s killing spree (with a notable “twist”), and another revealing a modern day arc with “surprising connections to the past”.
The thriller series will alight on “an all-new psychopath as social media obsessed millennial, Charlie (Charlene) Carruthers, goes on a downward spiral filled with violence. Drug fueled partying leads to bloodshed as Charlie leaves a trail of bodies on her way to discovering the truth about her dark nature.” Below is some more art work.
Sumerian struck the deal with producer Pressman Film. The company says the deal includes the rights to use Christian Bale’s likeness in character as portrayed in the film.

Guns N’ Roses‘ recent performance at the Glastonbury festival received multiple negative reviews, and now the band has responded to the bad press.
Gn’R highlighted two reviews from major UK publications in particular: one by music critic Neil McCormick of The Telegraph subtitled “Welcome to the Mumble” and an even harsher piece by The Independent’s Mark Beaumont that called Gn’R “frontrunners for the worst Glasto headline set of all time.”
Beaumont pulled no punches, writing that Axl Rose “flips between a lower register that resembles a clogged lawnmower and a higher one that sounds like Barry Gibb suffering the mother of all wedgies.” Ouch.
The band responded by taking to Twitter to put both writers on blast, tagging each of their Twitter handles and borrowing a line from the song “Chinese Democracy”: “…it would take a lot more hate than you @neil_mccormick @Markbeaumontuk.”

Dave Grohl and Foo Fighters weren’t even listed on the 2023 Glastonbury lineup, but they keep popping up onstage at the U.K. festival.
The day after the Foo Fighters played a secret set as the Churn Outs, Grohl appeared onstage alongside both the Pretenders and Guns N’ Roses, joining the latter’s headlining set to perform the evening-ending “Paradise City.”
Guns N’ Roses and Grohl previously linked up to play the Appetite for Destruction classic at the BottleRock Festival in 2021, but unlike that festival, both parties were actually able...

Dave Grohl’s name doesn’t appear on the 2023 Glastonbury lineup, but the Foo Fighters frontman has been all over Worthy Farm during the first two days of the UK festival. Following Foo Fighters’ surprise Friday performance, Grohl was back on stage Saturday for not one, but two unannounced cameos.
Hours after jamming out on drums with Pretenders and Johnny Marr, Grohl strapped on a guitar and joined Guns N’ Roses for their set-closing performance of “Paradise City.” “There’s never such a thing as too many guitars!” proclaimed Gn’R frontman Axl Rose as he introduced Grohl.
Back in 2016, Grohl famously lent his throne to Rose after the Gn’R frontman broke his leg prior to the band’s reunion tour. In the years since then, the two acts have shared the stage on several occasions, including at the 2021 BottleRock Music Festival — where organizer pulled the plug halfway through...
