Hulu is starting off 2025 strong as the streaming platform expands its ever-growing catalog with Nicolas Cage's post-apocalyptic horror film Arcadian. The movie, which initially premiered at South by Southwest (SXSW) in March 2024, followed by a wide release in April, will land on Hulu on Jan. 24 this year. At the time of its premiere, the movie received mostly positive reviews, praising the film as a solid entry in Cage's extensive filmography. Now, Arcadian will be added to the handful of Nicolas Cage films already available on the streaming service.

Film financier William Santor, best known for bringing Hollywood titles such as The Baker (2022) and The Retirement Plan (2023) to his adopted home of the Cayman Islands, died December 28. He was 50.

Santor’s death has been confirmed by the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service in multiple local media reports. The Canadian-born financier was found unresponsive at his home on the island and was later taken to the Cayman Islands Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Officers are investigating.

In a statement to Deadline, the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service said it is “carrying out an investigation surrounding the sudden death of a 50-year-old-man who is a Canadian citizen residing in the Cayman Islands.”

“The matter is an active investigation and all investigative lines of enquiries are being carried out,” the statement continued.

Deadline has contacted Productivity Media, Santor’s former company, for further comment.

In a statement to Deadline, Leopardi called the film “a satirical take on the modern billionaire class cloaked in a crowd-pleasing thriller,” adding, “The Cure is made in the tradition of classic horror and sci-fi films that are inspired by terrifying socio-political realities and advances in bio-technology. Like Ex-Machina, A.I., and Videodrome I believe we are on the cusp of a revolution in science and the big question is – who will benefit?”

The film from writer-director Christine Swanson is set to hit select AMC Theatres and Malco Theatres locations on Nov. 15, with those cinema chains handling the distribution. Albany Road centers on Celeste (Goldsberry), who is preparing for an important work trip and is dismayed that she has to share a car with her ex-fiancé’s mother, Paula (Whitfield). Celeste soon learns that Paula is keeping a big secret from her, with the movie exploring challenging family dynamics and the power of personal growth.

“We come face-to-face with what we fear the most or what we want the most, and sometimes you win — and sometimes you lose,” Whitfield says in the trailer.

The Ankler has reported on the status of multiple live-action co-productions from Marvel and Sony in the works at Amazon. This included an update on Spider-Man Noir, and it was reported that "Nicolas Cage is in serious talks to take on the lead role in the series, which will be set in 1930s New York City." Also stated was that Sony declined to comment on the report.

The sitcom follows a dysfunctional family – and we mean dysfunctional! – that includes real-life sisters Kat Sadler and Lizzie Davidson. British comedian Sadler has previously written for The News Quiz, Hypothetical, and Mel Giedroyc: Unforgivable, but this is her first big TV project. “Everything we joke about in the show is from a place of lived experience,” she told Funny Women. “I wish I could say this is a heart-warming show about overcoming trauma, but that would be a lie. Through the initiative, each will be awarded $25,000 to develop their original documentary feature or limited series for a first look by the companies.

Instead of waiting for the phone to ring, the Canadian writer-director has created his own opportunities to helm his written material, and The Retirement Plan, Brown’s new action-comedy starring Nicolas Cage, is the fifth time he’s done just that. Brown already had an usual path to the director’s chair, as he started out on the distribution side of the industry.

The Retirement Plan, which is now playing in theaters, began with Brown imagining John Wick as a 70-year-old former assassin who now passes his time as an island-based beach bum. He eventually sent a script to Cage, and the veteran actor was intrigued by the idea of being aged up by a decade in order to portray the added dimension of an estranged grandfather.

Every installment of The Twilight Saga will be bundled up for an all-new set coming to Blu-ray and DVD in commemoration of the movie series' 15th anniversary.

Based on the original novels by Stephenie Meyer, Twilight spawned a phenomenon when it was released in theaters back in 2008. Starring Kristen Stewart as Bella Swan, the movie series explores the love triangle between the teenage outcast, the vampire Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson), and the werewolf Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner).
