With The CW being able to claim serious bragging rights due to the fact that they’re home to a shared DC TV universe, it only makes sense that the various shows populating it not only intermingle here and there, but come together for a full-on crossover each fall. Just last week, the fanbase went nuts upon finding out that this year’s offering has been dubbed “Crisis on Earth-x,” therefore making it the most ambitious to date. Not meaning to sound boastful, but we did call this before any official announcement was made.
So, while we wait for more details to surface – and they might because filming should commence shortly – we’ll just have to tide ourselves over, perhaps by falling back on the source material or by rewatching past crossovers. Well, there’s also the animated movie Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths, which despite featuring mostly different characters,...

Having recently wrapped principal photography, the long overdue solo debut of Wonder Woman on the big screen has been on the minds of many a fan as of late and speculation will continue to snowball as next summer’s release inches ever closer. In the meantime, we will take whatever factoids are presented.
Recently, People caught up with DC Entertainment president Diane Nelson to help kick off the festivities of Wonder Woman’s 75th Anniversary. Although it seemed like such a simple thing to say, she let us know which major part of the iconic superheroine’s mythology will be absent from the upcoming film when discussing its tone:
“It will have its own tone and look – it’s beautiful. There is humor in it, there is real emotion in Diana’s journey in discovering the complexity of man.
“There is no invisible jet. Not in this iteration.”
Personally, I was never really a big fan of the invisible jet considering that Diana can already fly, but I must admit it’s an easier pill to swallow than seeing Superman drive a car or Spider-Man four-wheeling as part of toylines. If they are ever to introduce the invisible jet in a Justice League movie or a subsequent Wonder Woman sequel, I can only hope that it happens organically.
Anyone who has seen the awesome animated film Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths will remember that she stole Owlman’s jet that had cloaking capabilities – only its system fried and the cloaking could never turn off. A live action movie doesn’t necessarily have to replicate those events, but the right writer could come up with something that makes sense.
Furthermore, Nelson had this to say about the aforementioned 75th Anniversary celebration:
“There’s no better time than now. The overall conversation that’s happening in our culture right now – about having stronger gender equality representation in media and in government and in education and all of it just makes it the perfect time to see a character like Wonder Woman out there.”
Wonder Woman opens in theaters on June 2, 2017.

Wonder Woman has been making a lot of news lately in the comic book movie world, only because a feature film starring one of the most popular and well-known superheroes still hasn't been greenlit. Yep, the Flash gets both a film and TV series developed simultaneously while Wonder Woman's TV show gets postponed—again. DC and Warner Bros. keep going back to Superman and Batman, two heroes who will be teaming up while the third member of DC's Trinity remains shut out.
None of that means that the Amazonian isn't at the forefront of fans' minds, and they want Gina Torres to bring her to life. The actor, known for her roles on "Suits" and playing Zoe on "Firefly," has long been the top contender to bring Wonder Woman to life, a fact that still surprises her, as she revealed to Vulture.

Throughout the past few months, as the build towards Man of Steel’s release was taking place, one fanboy speculative topic that was thrown around a lot was a Justice League film. Sadly, the overblown CGI and nonsensical story of the latest Superman film yielded nothing that could set up or establish the rumoured team up, aside from a Wayne Tech easter egg. It failed on every level to achieve what Iron Man did in 2008. Instead, questions like the following were brought up:
“If the world was really in danger, where was Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash etc. Wouldn’t they care about an event on that scale?”, “Where can a Justice League movie fit in this universe?”, “Where does the Nolanverse come into this?” etc.
And all of these are great questions. And most, like myself, were left feeling grossly disappointed with Man of Steel, as this was not...

The Wrap have learned exclusively that due to the current downturn of the home entertainment industry, Warner Bros. has shut down its direct-to-video label Warner Premiere this summer. "Given the continuing decline in the direct-to-video film market and shifting business models in the production of digital series, the decision was made to close Warner Premiere," the studio said in a statement to TheWrap. The site goes on to report that the division will finish production on its remaining film and digital series slate this Fall. Since 2007, Warner Premiere has released Superman: Doomsday, Justice League: The New Frontier, Batman: Gotham Knight, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern: First Flight, Superman/Batman: Public Enemies, Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths, Batman: Under the Red Hood, Superman/Batman: Apocalypse and most recently Superman vs. The Elite. This announcement won't effect The Dark Knight Returns: Part 1 but your guess is as good as mine on whether...

Justice League: Doom I've complained before about the inexplicable need for the DC Animated Universe features to be so bloody short. Only the anthology Green Lantern: Emerald Knights has run over 80 minutes and at least two (Batman: Year One and Superman/Batman: Public Enemies) were barely an hour. For whatever reason, the 13 features since late 2007 have all hovered around the 75 minute mark, and it's almost always been a point of contention. But this time around, that truncated running time has become a fatal flaw, as this loose adaptation of a 2000 Justice League of America arc ends up sacrificing the entire dramatic crux of the story. All that's left, while not boring, is a rather route pure action tale with one large-scale set piece after another. And by holding off the story's key reveal until near the end of the picture, the film ends up being a giant set-up to...

Warner Bros. Animation continues to pump out movie straight to DVD DC Comics movies, and today it's been announced that they are developing Justice League Doom which will be inspired by Mark Waid's Tower of Babel storyline.
The story finds Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, Cyborg and Batman on their heels when a team of super villains discover and implement the Dark Knight’s “contingency plans” for stopping any rogue Justice League member. The film stars the voice talent of Nathan Fillion, Kevin Conroy, Michael Rosenbaum and Tim Daly.
The DC comics animated movie are hit and miss for me. Some I like other I hate. The most recently film I saw was Batmas: Year One, and even though the animation was good, I didn't care for how it was brought to life. The direction was off, especially with the voice acting.

Josh Keaton appears to have a growing monopoly on the comic book voice acting industry. His extensive list of credits includes pulling double duty as The Flash and Aquaman in Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths, was the voice of Young Hercules in Disney's Hercules and is perhaps best known as the voice of Spider-Man, voicing everyone's favorite web slinger in the critically acclaimed The Spectacular Spider-Man animated series as well as in the popular video games Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, and the upcoming Spider-Man: Edge of Time. Interestingly, Keaton didn’t have an extensive history with Green Lantern before landing the role. “With something like Spidey, I’ve had over the course of a couple decades a voice in my head when I read the comics. I’ve had...

Justice League: Doom the forthcoming Dcu animated movie from Warner Premiere was the last script written by Dwayne McDuffie (All-Star Superman, Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths), who passed away back in February, which is based on Mark Waid‘s story “Tower of Babel“, where Batman’s secret files on how to defeat each member of the league has been stolen.
Now, thanks to the folks at IGN we have the first trailer which premiered at New York Comic Con over the weekend. Check it out below!

If you’ve ever reminisced about the “Justice League” TV show and thought “Gosh, wouldn’t it be cool if the original voice cast reunited for another awesome Jl project?” – then we’ve got news for you. Kevin Conroy (Batman), Michael Rosenbaum (Flash), Susan Eisenberg (Wonder Woman) and Carl Lumbly (J’onn J’onzz/Martian Manhunter) will all be reprising their roles in a new DC Universe animated movie, “Justice League: Doom.”
But it gets better: joining the original group will be Tim Daly, the voice of Superman, and current geek god Nathan Fillion, in his new gig as the animated Green Lantern (first seen in the recent release “Green Lantern: Emerald Nights”).
“Justice League: Doom” is the final script from the late Dwayne McDuffie (“All-Star Superman” and “Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths”). It’s due from Warner Home Video next year, but early birds...

Editors Note: At the request of Warner Bros. Animation, we've purposely avoided discussing Batman: Year One. However, I will be discussing this movie with Sam and others at a later date. Sam Liu is the unequivocal spearhead of the next wave of great animation directors following in the footsteps of Bruce Timm. Chances are you've seen his work. But what you may not know is that you've probably seen it long before his days as one of the leading animation directors of the current era. With his work on such films as Hulk Vs., Planet Hulk, All-Star Superman, Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths, and Superman/Batman: Public Enemies Sam has achieved somewhat of a celebrity status amongst the fans and followers of the industry. Batman: Year One is the latest addition to the growing library of Dcu animated films and directors Sam Liu and Lauren Montgomery (Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths) have promised that the film will be incredibly faithful to the source material. Well, they were not lying, as you can see the first look trailer promises some amazing faithfulness to Frank Miller’s work. After watching this trailer it is clear that DC is doing a better job on their animated straight to dvd projects than they are with the live action movies. Every live action movie except the two Green Lantern films have been top notch in my opinion ranging from All-Star Superman to the shorts like Superman/Shazam!: The Return of Black Adam.
It features the voices of Ben McKenzie as Batman/Bruce Wayne, Bryan Cranston as James Gordon, Katee Sackhoff as Detective Sarah Essen, and Eliza Dushku as Selina Kyle/Catwoman.

If past years are any indication, Comic-Con will begin releasing its official 2011 panel schedule later today (Wednesday) with the schedule for Preview Night, Wednesday, July 20. If that happens then we can expect them to follow suit for the rest of the days, so that Thursday will see the release of the Thursday of Con schedule, etc., through Sunday.
Once the official schedules are posted these “TV and Movie Panels and Screenings Updates” will be scaled back to just the date, time, title, and location, since the rest of the information and So Much More (including comics panels, autograph signings, etc.) will be available on the Comic-Con schedule link we’ll provide. Consider this, then, the last of the extremely long posts, and hopefully we’ll be getting that official schedule soon.

Woo Hoo! Comic-Con 2011 info is really starting to flow! As a veteran attendee, one of the most exciting things I’ve seen are the blurbs that come out on the official schedule, being released early by studios! For this post we scrapped the previous format in favor of Comic-Con’s format whenever that information is available. Here we go!

As if the Guardians weren't smiling on us enough today with the release of the new Green Lantern trailer, how about a sneak-peek of his small-screen adventures?
We first caught details and a few character designs from Dcau main man Bruce Timm's Green Lantern: The Animated Series back at New York Comic-Con 2010, but now we finally have our hands on some actual footage! Even if it is only about seven seconds.
The series, once again helmed by DC Animated Universe architect Bruce Timm, Giancarlo Volpe (Avatar: The Last Airbender) and Jim Krieg takes the form of CG animation, breaking from Timm's usual work with 2-D. It follows Hal Jordan and Kilowog in a sort of "Frontier Lanterns" story. The two take to policing the outer rim of the Green Lantern Corps, as very little of the show will actually take place on Earth.

The voice cast has been revealed for the animated version of Frank Miller’s Batman: Year One, which premieres in July at the 2011 San Diego Comic-Con. Heat Vision reports that Ben McKenzie (The O.C.) will provide the voice of Bruce Wayne/Batman, with Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston portraying Lt. James Gordon. Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica) is voicing Detective Sarah Essen, and Eliza Dushku (Dollhouse) will voice Selina Kyle/Catwoman, and Alex Rocco (Moe Greene from The Godfather) will be the voice of Carmine Falcone.
Tab Murphy (Superman/Batman:Apocalypse) adapted the script, and Sam Liu and Lauren Montgomery (Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths) are directing. Miller’s original novel lends itself nicely to a film adaptation, and large hunks of the story were used in Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins. Executive producer Bruce Timm points out:
“The source material is surprisingly cinematic; it’s a pretty straight forward literal retelling.

With the new live-action Green Lantern starring Ryan Reynolds (Buried) flying into theaters on June 17, Warner Home Video is cashing in on the excitement with the DVD and Blu-ray release of animated movie Green Lantern: Emerald Knights on June 7.
The discs will include an anthology of six Green Lantern stories, showing Hal Jordan and the superheros policing the galaxy. Jordan, the character played by Reynolds in the live-action movie, is voiced by Nathan Fillion (TV’s Castle), and the show also features the voices of Jason Isaacs (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows), Elisabeth Moss (TV’s Mad Men), Arnold Vosloo (The Mummy Returns) and Henry Rollins (TV’s Sons of Anarchy).
For animated superhero programs, PG-rated Green Lantern: Emerald Knights has the pedigree of being produced by Bruce Timm, who also produced the animated superhero movies Batman: Gotham Knight, Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths and 2009’s Green Lantern: First Flight.

Warner Brother Home Entertainment has release a brand new image and trailer for the upcoming Green Lantern: Emerald Knights, an all-new DC Universe Animated Original Movie. The film weaves six interlocking stories of the Green Lantern Corps’ rich mythology around preparations for an attack by an ancient enemy. As the battle approaches, Hal Jordan (voiced by Nathan Fillion, Castle) mentors new recruit Arisia (Elisabeth Moss, Mad Men) in the history of the Green Lantern Corps, telling tales of Avra (the first Green Lantern) and several of Hal’s comrades – including Abin Sur, Kilowog, Laira and Mogo. In the end, Arisia must rise to the occasion to help Hal, Sinestro and the entire Green Lantern Corps save the universe from the destructive forces of Krona. "All-Star Superman," the latest film in DC's line of animated features, had a lot to live up from the very first moment moment the project was announced. Based on Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely's award-winning, 12-issue comic book series, "All-Star Superman" faced the super-heroic task of living up to the accolades of its source material while bringing the signature styles of the comic's creators to life on the screen.
In the original series, Superman is pitted against an enemy he can't overcome with a well-timed punch or a blast of heat vision: his own mortality. Diagnosed with a fatal case of radiation poisoning, the Man of Steel has only a short time left to take care of everything he's meant to do in life, and ensure the world is in good hands after he leaves.

Cbr (www.comicbookresources.com) provided this Update on the passing of multi-talented comic book and media writer Dwayne McDuffie yesterday afternoon:
1:25 Pm Pst: Cbr has learned that McDuffie died from complications due to a surgical procedure performed Monday evening.
I didn’t find out about this until close to midnight last night and yelled out in sheer horror. It really threw me for a loop. Like S&A commenter Skyvolt said in the previous McDuffie post, he didn’t cry about lack of Black characters, he did something about it. Weird, I was just watching All-Star Superman yesterday and was looking forward to the new Static monthly book (though not written by him) to come out in a few months. Man, I’m still shocked, no dumb pun intended. Only Jam Master J’s passing threw me for more of a wallop.

Cbr (www.comicbookresources.com) provided this Update on the passing of multi-talented comic book and media writer Dwayne McDuffie yesterday afternoon: “1:25 Pm Pst: Cbr has learned that McDuffie died from complications due to a surgical procedure performed Monday evening.”
I didn’t find out about this until close to midnight last night and yelled out in sheer horror. It really threw me for a loop. Like commenter Skyvolt said in the previous McDuffie post, he didn’t cry about lack of Black characters, he did something about it. Weird, I was just watching All-Star Superman yesterday and was looking forward to the new Static monthly book (though not written by him) to come out in a few months. Man, I’m still shocked, no dumb pun intended.

Comics and cartoon writer Dwayne McDuffie, who most recently penned the script for the DC Animated feature All-Star Superman, passed away from complications from a surgical procedure he had on Monday.
McDuffie got his start in comics as a member of Marvel's editorial staff in the 1980s. While an editor at Marvel, McDuffie began writing the Damage Control miniseries and helped to revamp the Deathlok character. Eventually, McDuffie began writing full-time and would help create the Milestone comics universe at DC. Milestone was a separate line that featured minority heroes such as Static, Hardware, and Icon. In recent years, McDuffie began writing for cartoons as well, including a cartoon adaptation of his Static character, Static Shock. He also served as the story editor on the immensely popular Justice League Unlimited cartoon and a writer on Ben 10: Alien Force. McDuffie also wrote the DC Comics straight-to-dvd animated feature Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths,...

Update: Cbr is reporting that writer Dwayne McDuffie has passed away. The cause of death is still unknown. Obviously, this came as a huge shock. As you may guess from this article, he was fine and in good health when I talked to him last week. Our editorial staff are big fans of his work and we offer our condolences to his friends and family.
It was Valentine’s Day and I’d decided that I would bail on a dinner date to attend a screening of a direct-to-video animated movie. Yadda yadda I should have my virginity grow back—but it was the world premiere of All-Star Superman, the adaptation of one of my favorite mini-series and possibly one of the greatest Superman books of all time. Romance can take a number.
So it was very nice indeed to find that the movie uses the romance between Superman and...

Three new images from D.C.’s original animated direct-to-dvd movie “All-Star Superman”, including one very, er, sorta revealing look at Lois Lane. In All-Star Superman, the Man of Steel rescues an ill-fated mission to the Sun (sabotaged by Lex Luthor) and, in the process, is oversaturated by radiation – which accelerates his cell degeneration. Sensing even he will be unable to cheat death, Superman ventures into new realms – finally revealing his secret to Lois, confronting Lex Luthor’s perspective of humanity, and attempting to ensure Earth’s safety before his own impending end with one final, selfless act. Based on the Eisner Award-winning DC Comics series/graphic novel of the same name by Grant Morrison with illustration by Frank Quitely, All-Star Superman is executive produced by animation guru Bruce Timm and directed by Sam Liu (Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths) from a script by acclaimed comics writer Dwayne McDuffie...
