When Fox canceled Lucifer, the fan community around the crime-solving Devil didn't get mad as Hell. Thanks to a clever tweet by Lucifer actor Tom Ellis, the series was saved by Netflix rather than buried by Fox. Streaming has changed the business of television, with the Save Lucifer campaign being a model example of how shows can find life after death.

Perhaps one of the greatest strokes of irony is how a television series about Lucifer Morningstar and murderers became one the greatest examples of positivity in modern entertainment. Based on a character created for comics by Neil Gaiman, Sam Keith, Mike Dringenberg and M.R. Carey, the story of a show about a crime-solving Devil is an example to fan communities everywhere. Series star Tom Ellis saved Lucifer from cancellation with a cheeky tweet, but it was the positive fan community that kept it alive on Netflix.

Radio Silence Productions and Project X Entertainment, which were behind the revival of the Scream franchise with Scream (2022) and last year’s Scream VI, have formed a joint financing pact with studio MRC to fund and produce horror and thriller features, Variety reports. As part of this deal, the companies are aiming to produce two or three genre movies every year.

Radio Silence and Project X also collaborated on Ready or Not and the upcoming Universal vampire movie Abigail (formerly known as Dracula’s Daughter). As for MRC, that studio has been behind such films as Knives Out, Devil, Baby Driver, The Blackening, Saltburn, American Fiction, and Self Reliance.
