Really not too bad

(For context, I'm not catholic) Really not bad. Of course it's one sided and shows him as this great man with no faults. But it wasn't annoying. The movie wasn't like really interesting but it wasn't boring at all. Showed the realy of communist Poland well.

Really good if you take into consideration how bad polish movies can be.

(review too short, so here's less important info) Very Catholic Grandma reccomended it to me so I had 0 expectations, so I was pleasantly surprised. I watched it with my mom who lived during the communist Poland times and she confirmed that the movie was accurate when it comes to how living it felt.

the peoples liberation of poland...

Of socialism and communism had to start somewhere, and it had to be people with strength among common people, and the ones who stood out as the most dangerous counterpart for the communist government of poland was the catholic church , with stubborn and farsighted cardinals and clergymen all the way down to the local priests and church communes.the preassure this block had which inevitably combined with the labour unions really bore fruits in the start of the 1980's solidarinozcs movement, and the way to make the next pope to be from poland. ..

this film shows the hardships of their silent battle, a battle i reckoned a lot due to our family friend jazeck whom my father by share coincidence got in touch with through while testing out his jobs teleprinters international lines, that led to a letter correspondacy that lasted til my dad died.

So if you will feel the breath of those days, you will find a nicely and athenticly set filmproduction, with some mighty achievments from the polish actors guild, especially the party secretary and the cardinals parts where award worthy, along with its filmographic touch.

They where able to reach around 1971-2, so therefore i hope they will make a 2nd chapter out of the historic developments well into the 1980's. A great movie and a recommend from the grumpy old man.
