The movie was shot during the Christmas of 2008. Everything in the film happened or was re-shot during the actual Christmas season. The lot was an actual lot that was selling trees simultaneously to the shooting of the film. Some of the scenes were improved on the spot. Most notably, no one was killed during the production of the film.
