This was originally in development as early as November 2009. It was intended for Isla Fisher at Universal Pictures.
In an interview with E.T. Anna Camp said that when she was approached to be in the film she was told she could choose between playing Brooke and Kaylie. Anna explained that she picked Brooke because she felt she related to the character since she recently went through a divorce.
