Summary
Reviewers say 'Dunki' delves into illegal immigration, friendship, and emotional journeys, blending comedy and drama. Shah Rukh Khan's performance and Rajkumar Hirani's direction are praised, along with the film's emotional depth. However, criticisms include inconsistent pacing, underdeveloped characters, and a lack of emotional connection. Some find the humor forced and the storyline oversimplified. Cinematography and music receive mixed reviews. Overall, 'Dunki' is considered decent with strong performances but doesn't match previous successes.

Dunki presents a compelling story that serves as its core attraction, depicting the aspirations of four friends from a Punjab village yearning to reach England. Their journey, hindered by the lack of visas and tickets, becomes a humorous yet touching narrative of enduring friendship, homeland nostalgia, and overarching love. Shah Rukh Khan delivers a commendable performance, surpassing his recent roles in 'Pathaan' and 'Jawan.' However, his dominating presence occasionally overshadows the other characters, who themselves have significant stories to tell. This imbalance highlights a need for more depth in Khan's portrayal.
The movie excels in conveying a powerful message through effective storytelling. Yet, its approach to musical elements could be refined. The abrupt dance sequences feel out-of-place and disrupt the narrative flow, often leading viewers to disengage and resort to browsing on their phones. Integrating songs seamlessly into the background could enhance the cinematic experience.
Overall, 'Dunki' is a quality film with the potential to be even more impactful. It skillfully blends humor with heartfelt themes, though it falls short in certain aspects of character development and musical integration. This film is a step in the right direction, promising an enjoyable watch while leaving room for improvement in future endeavors.

Had so much hype and Expectation personally, not because of SRK, but because of Rajkumar Hirani the director and Abhijat Joshi the script writer. Totally disappointed by Dialogues, Screen play and surprisingly direction too wasn't at par with what we have seen in past from Rajkumar Hirani film. The acting was all right but the cast wasn't looking punjbi at all. Srk - Tapsi big Zero in chemistry and coming on screen together as 2 Punjabis, better would be Shahid Kapoor or Daljit.
Background score and music aren't that good either. I mean this is not what we expect from HiraniJi as director, i belive he needs Aamir Khan and under Vidhu Vinod Chopra he delivered Masterpiece. This I belive and understand is Ghost directed by his Son.

Hirani nailed it. Early morning went for movie which was worth it. It has some drama which was forcefully added then focused on real content. If its real content was more than unnecessary drama then i would have give it 10. Otherwise you will love the movie. You will enjoy this movie multiple times on your lifetime. It is mainly focused on type of person who wants to goto foreign. It is so true that many people want to goto foreign and have a lavish lifestyle but failed to do so. So this movie also taught us some lessions. It is very good movie. If u are srk fan u will definitely like this movie but if u are neutal fan also.. u will enjoy this movie.
I'M A DIE HARD FAN OF SRK AND Hirani Aswell.. Film is Beautiful.. Enjoyable.. But not so upto the mark.. Something is definitely missing.. THE SPARK IS MISSING OF HIRANI AND THE WRITER ABHIJAT..
TAPSEE IS GOOD AS USUAL.. MAY BE ITS A BEST TILL DATE.. VICKY KAUSHAL IS SUPRB. VICKRAM AND ANIL ARE TOO AWSM.
It's a One time watchable movie.. Not a Bad a movie but we expect more from HIRANI. He is genius at his work but not this time.
Anyway.. Its a gud movie, completely family package.. Pure and clean film it is.. Hopefully Hirani and Abhijat and Kanika Dhillon comes with BIGGER next time.........

Made me laugh.. made me cry! Made me live a journey I never took.. made me feel emotions which I never knew existed- the desperation and the plight of people who take the "Dunki route".
Raju Hirani has created a masterpiece. Vicky, Tapsee and SRK have brought it to life as beautifully as possible. We rarely get to see such natural performances these days. Dil jeet lia sb hi ne.
It's more of an emotional drama than comedy. It's more of reality than fantasy.
Vicky's walk after *that* phone call, SRK's last scene at roof top, and the videography of "Nikle The Kabhi Hum Ghar Se" with all the flashbacks. Your eyes will be soaked in tears.
9 out of 10 stars for this magnum opus.
Its a must watch.

- GoofsSince "Qatar Airways" was one of the sponsors of the film, there are scenes of their Airbus A350 being used throughout. But when the story from 25 years ago was being told, the same Airbus A350 was used in the narrative. Even though that type of plane wasn't built during that period, only after 2011.
