In 2017, a group of film companies announced the launch of the Foreign Film Buyer-Distributors Assn. of Korea, aiming to contribute to a better business environment and fairer practices. However, the first dispute occurred between member companies in September — less than a year after organization’s birth.
Jinjin Pictures, a member of the association, agreed with Taiwan’s Trigram Films in June to buy Korean rights to “Hear Me” (pictured above) and had the first draft of the contract notarized. The following month, however, the Taiwanese company notified Trigram that another Korean buyer had quoted higher price for the film and suggested that Jinjin either cancel the contract or alter its condition.
Jinjin figured that Aud, another member of the association, was negotiating for “Hear Me” and informed the company about its existing deal. As Aud insisted that it would still buy the film’s Korean rights, the buyer-distributors association released a statement,...

Amazon PrimeIn a show that’s supposed to sidestep looks, the men and women on the show are objectified as pretty and desirable from the get-go.Saraswati DatarFinding true love, or a suitable spouse has been a recurring motif in literature, cinema and television since the beginning of storytelling. While love is about finding someone to care for, it is also about proving to yourself that you are lovable and repairing your self-esteem through someone else’s affections. What better way to do this than by allowing someone to choose you without knowing how you look? Hear Me. Love Me, now streaming on Amazon Prime, is based on an international format from Fremantle Media-owned Israeli production house Abot Hameiri and promises a twist on the concept of blind dates and a more evolved way to find love. The format sets up a girl looking for love on three blind dates in one day.

Lower profit contributions from FremantleMedia North America impacted numbers at the American Gods producer and distributor as well as parent company Rtl.
In its first-quarter financials operating profit at FremantleMedia fell by €2M (Us$2.4M) from last year, dropping from €15M to €13M on steady revenues of €271M, while operating profit at the group fell from €264M to €259M. The company said that it expects FremantleMedia to have a similar performance in the second quarter of the year but noted that revenue growth was expected to “accelerate in the second half of the year on the back of the new drama deliveries”.
This comes despite the launch of American Idol on ABC in March and its subsequent renewal for a second season as well as the premiere of dating format Hear Me, Love Me, See Me on TLC. German drama Charité, which is produced by Ufa Fiction and set in 1880s Berlin,...

While the best supporting categories seem a little more cut and dry this year, not so the races for best actor and actress. Remember, the key to winning your Oscar pool is to think like the Academy, which doesn’t always fall in line with your favorite choice. Let’s take a look.
Best Actress Glenn Close – Albert Knobbs Viola Davis – The Help Rooney Mara – The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo Meryl Streep – The Iron Lady Michelle Williams – My Week With Marilyn
This race is going to come down to the wire. It’s also a great example of an award that could go to an actress undeserving of the acclaim. Hear me out.
First things first, as brilliant as Rooney Mara was in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, you can rule her out. Unfortunately, the film is garnering little buzz with the Academy, and Mara’s personal aloofness has turned many people off.

I really love "Smash." A lot. Like, I'd dramatically cry to the soundtrack of all their hits in its extremely brief run if it got canceled.
But -- yes, there's a but -- I'm begging, pleading, asking as politely as a public rant can be, please just skip Episode 3, titled "Enter Mr. Dimaggio" (Mon., Feb. 20, 10 p.m. Est on NBC).
Hear me out: I adored the pilot, and I've probably seen it 10 times without any signs of fatigue. Once critics received the second episode, I was actually nervous because I knew I was doing that thing, that thing where you've built something up so much, it can't possibly live up to it. But it did, for the most part. Note: Julia's (Debra Messing) son's pleas for an adopted little sister are not included in "the most part." I'm already over that storyline, but that's beside the point.

Most Star Wars fans have a special kind of hate for The Phantom Menace. They don.t casually dislike it or even strongly hate it; they seem to think The Phantom Menace was a scathing affront to all things decent and holy. In many ways, I don.t blame them. I too sat in a darkened theater as the credits rolled and angrily wondered what the hell I.d just witnessed. Being pissed twelve years later is perfectly reasonable, but here.s where many Star Wars fans and I disagree. I still tell people The Phantom Menace is worth watching. In fact, I think anyone who has seen and enjoyed the three original movies is doing themselves a great disservice by avoiding The Phantom Menace. Hear me out. There are a lot of things that are truly awful about Episode One. The dialogue is frequently atrocious, some of the actors...

When you're a handsome actor you can accomplish pretty much anything, whether you're George Clooney and his air of international class or Bruce Willis, with a steely glare that could kill you. But if you're labeled a "pretty boy" first? Forget it-- that's a hole you're going to spend your entire life climbing out of. Just ask Brad Pitt, who's spend 20 years trying to be taken seriously and may have only finally achieved it this year. The newest victim of the pretty-boy trap? Why, it's Channing Tatum of course. The title of this article is "Hear Me Out"-- the first in what we're planning as a series of seemingly crazy arguments-- and we mean what we say. I know you think Channing Tatum is just a hunk of meat with barely two brain cells to put together. I know you've seen him in G.I. Joe or Dear John...

When people are asked to name great animated comedies the likes of South Park and Family Guy are usually at the top of the list. And every time that happens, I shed a tear (I'm an emotional man). Not because I dislike those shows (in fact, quite the opposite), but because Archer never seems to be among the top three named. Despite being created by Adam Reed (Space Ghost Coast to Coast, Sealab 2021), Archer is often overlooked by many. But we're going to change that status right here, right now (time zones be damned!). Hear me, Internet, Archer is a show worthy of your time and affection! Don't believe us? Here's 11 reasons why you should watch Archer.
Also, don't forget to watch the comedy's return January 19th on FX.

After fun videos like 'Frick Park Market' and 'Party on Fifth Ave.,' Miller gets serious in 'Of the Soul.'
By Rob Markman
Mac Miller in his video for "Of the Soul"

After partying on Fifth Ave., Mac Miller decided to slow things down for the fourth video from his #1 debut, Blue Slide Park.
With the Ian Wolfson-directed "Of the Soul" clip, Miller simplifies his visual, electing to shoot against a brick wall with Bsp-themed art painted on it.
In previous Blue Slide videos like "Frick Park Market," "Smile Back" and "Party on Fifth Ave.," the Pittsburgh rap breakout dressed up in costume, put his acting skills on display and danced, but in his latest, he just sort of stands there — and raps. It's all fitting, of course, when you consider the mellowed-out sound bed that production team I.D. Labs laid on "Of the Soul.

So let's say I have this friend, right? Hear me out. I Do have friends. Anyway, this particular friend has a problem. He or she (because who is to say what gender this friend is? Maybe I just don't have good gender-dar) works for a major television website (could be any of them, nobody knows) where he or she makes a living writing reviews, listicles, and occasionally recaps with grammatically incorrect phrases written on screen grabs. Brian Williams must really enjoy interviewing comedians.
Tina Fey appeared as the second guest on "Rock Center With Brian Williams" to chat with the famed newsman (who sat on the opposite couch from when he interviewed his inaugural guest Jon Stewart). Williams had two topics he needed to address with Fey: the obvious similarities in their shows' titles, and Fey's harsh words about broadcast journalists.
"I want to be the first to say, that in naming this 'Rock Center,' it was our intention to get the viewers who were looking for Tina, for Alec, for Tracey...to come to us entirely mistaken," Williams said.
"I'm not sure you want that," Fey laughed. She then told Williams that she actually wanted to name her own show "Rock Center," but was not given permission to do so by building owners.
Fey also said she wanted to call the show "The Peacock,...

Charlie Day of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" hosted "Saturday Night Live" on Saturday, Nov. 5. What did you think of his episode?
The Good:
Host Charlie Day's monologue was a highlight. Danny DeVito dropped by, which is always awesome, and then Day showed off his musical skills on the piano and harmonica. We actually had no idea he could do that.
The Kardashian E! special "A Fairytale Divorce" was hilarious. Nasim Pedrad was a wonderful Kim Kardashian, Abby Elliot's short bit as Khloe was nice and of course Kristin Wiig stole the show as Kris Jenner. We really enjoyed the other "specials" they advertised: "Bruce Jenner & Kourtney's Baby Take Reno," "Brody Jenner, Khloe & Kris Take Vitamins," and the one-hour television special "Lamar's Penis Revealed." Speaking of Lamar, Jay Pharaoh briefly summed up the Kardashian clan as "whack as f***." Heh.

When I first heard that the mid-seasoning opener for Doctor Who was ‘Let’s Kill Hitler‘ I was unreasonably excited. Finally, I thought, they are going to a location that would be on any time traveller’s list. As it turns out Hitler was only in the episode for five minutes before he was locked into a cupboard. Obviously they couldn’t actually kill Hitler without driving the show into Inglourious Basterds (2009) territory; however it would have been nice to have him actually interact with the trio for more time. Whilst it was enjoyable enough it could have been so much more. It did however set off me off thinking about what I would visit if I had a time-travel machine. Alas I can only muse on what adventures the Doctor should have.

Dee-1 is no dummy. The New Orleans native and Louisiana State University grad picked up rapping as a hobby in his college dorm room and devised a plan to get paid. It may have taken a little longer than expected but the former middle-school teacher left the classroom and has learned a new hustle through hip-hop.
"I first started wanting to rap as just a hobby when I first started college. I didn't really have anything better to do with my time, so I was like, 'Let me just freestyle around my dorm room with my boys,' " Dee-1 told Mixtape Daily. "But once I realized I was good at it, I started to take it more serious.

Sucker Punch is possibly the most spectacular failure I’ve seen in a while. It’s certainly ambitious, it’s got lots to praise, but there are far too many efforts falling flat or possibly offending for it to be considered a success. Aside from its merits or lack thereof, I want to look into what this movie means. This isn’t a comic cinematic experience, it’s an original screenplay, but it might just be the best visual representation of what comics mean. I believe Sucker Punch to be a statement on what comics are so hit the jump to see how I make this conclusion.
To kick things off, I should state that I am a fan of Zack Snyder. I don’t think he’s the greatest director in the world but I have liked all that he has created, up to Sucker Punch. There seems to...

With season 8 of Futurama right around the corner, it's tough not to be filled with excitement and anticipation.
Airing since 1999, fans still love the show and look back on its hilarity. Reminiscing over this season reminds you of the creativite and comedic jokes this show has had from the very beginning.
From spoofing the Titanic and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, to coming up with outrageous and original story lines, season two of Futurama had some of the funniest moments in the show's history.
What better way to reminisce over this hysterical television sitcom than to look back on Futurama Quotes that never cease to be funny?
Fry: You're using an awful lot of makeup there.
Amy: This is deodorant.
Fry: What does it do? | permalink Amy (talking to Fry): When ever I get lonely, I can look over my shoulder at this disfiguring scar and think of you.

As news of David O Russell’s departure from the director’s chair of Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune sends shockwaves through the internet, now seems like as good a time as any to look back on a few of the epic video game adaptations that never were… or at least haven’t been yet. In the background, behind all the Uwe Boll adaptations and the notorious Bob Hoskins Super Mario Brothers movie, there have actually been a few projects which, at one time or another, threatened to be quite good.
Warning! One of the below has been completely made up for the sake of my own geekish amusement.
Halo: Combat Evolved
The game: X-box first person shooter (Fps) Halo: Combat Evolved has, since it’s release a decade ago, spawned a multi-billion dollar industry – at one time being described as the biggest “entertainment property” in the history of the world ever.

In the grand scheme of things, Cardiak is new to the game. But the Willingboro, New Jersey, rap producer has already amassed some major hits. After making his biggest splash on Lloyd Banks' 2010 Kanye/ Swizz Beatz/ Fabolous collab cut "Start It Up," Cardiak has gone on to land beats with 50 Cent, Fab and Red Cafe. Mixtape Daily caught up with the N.J. boardsman on the set of Maybach Music Group's "600 Benz," another track that he crafted.

A wise woman (and a rapping cat hallucination) once sang, "I take two steps forward, two steps back. We go together 'cause opposites attract." "American Idol" bought into that reasoning by booking Lady Gaga as a mentor for Leiber & Stoller night. They snagged one of the biggest pop stars making music today ... to talk about songs that may have been written before Scotty McCreery's grandparents were born. (Anyone know how old Grandma Piquita is? Tweet me! This is important!)

Musician Stewart Francke, who interviewed soldiers to help him write the song, says that having Bruce Springsteen featured on Francke's track, "Summer Soldier (Holler If Ya Hear Me,)" is a dream come true. Listen to the song here "This is a tremendously cool thing for Bruce to do and of course a great honor for me," Francke says. "It was always his voice I heard on the call and response part of this track, but figured it would remain just a wish.

My snark demon Smirkelstiltskin may forsake me for saying this, but I’m actually starting to appreciate tween girls. Hear me out. As the American Idol Top 7 took to the Idoldome for the first time during last night’s live results show, a small platoon of tween girls ensconced in the peanut gallery rear balcony became nearly apoplectic with excitement — for Jacob. I know! Jacob! At one point, Jacob possibly threw a glance in their general direction, and when one of the girls was absolutely convinced it was mean directly for her, she began jumping, clapping and squealing as she turned to her friends,...

HBO's new fantasy series Game of Thrones creates a massive world with its own jargon and a ton of characters-Jace Lacob's glossary and character gallery explain all!
For the uninitiated, Game of Thrones can be confusing. Based on the long, plot-heavy novels by George R.R. Martin, the HBO show (premiering Sunday at 9 p.m. Edt) is bursting with more characters and settings than you can swing a broadsword at.

Game of Thrones is a political potboiler crossed with the essence of medieval legend, as ambitious and power-hungry lords and ladies vie for the throne, unleashing a violent and dangerous game that threatens the tenuous peace of this feudal society. I'm not trying to be a TV hypochondriac, but the impending season finale of 'Southland' is making me anxious.
Hear me out: I've been a huge fan and an avid supporter of the show since the beginning. And when NBC cancelled it after airing only one short season, pulling the plug as they were in the middle of shooting season 2, I was quick to help rally to keep the show alive, along with many loyal fans and critics.
We've been along for the ride through ups and downs and some serious character lowpoints -- especially this season, which was a darker turn for the series. So naturally, I want another season for more time with the extremely talented cast, but also for some much-needed character redemption.

This is going to sound like an attack on Reese Witherspoon, but it.s not. Hear me out. While Hollywood often tries to cast her as the romantic lead in whatever generic, meet cute they.re cooking up, Reese Witherspoon will never belong in those films. It.s her look. It just isn.t Hollywood. She.s pretty, but not in the way most actresses are pretty. She.s pretty in the way the hottest girl in the Ozarks might be pretty. Her look isn.t glamour or glitz, maybe that.s why she.s done her best work playing the plainest of the plain, like Walk the Line.s June Carter Cash. What I.m getting at is that Reese Witherspoon belongs in a circus. In Water for Elephants she.ll play the hottest girl in a traveling circus sideshow, and in this new trailer for the film, I...

Hollywood Undead’s video for the track, “Hear Me Now” has caught our attention for all the right reasons. Simply put, it is a rocking video. The music video is a concert on wheels with the american rock rap band jamming out on a truck as it rolls through the streets in the night. Wearing masks that resemble that of Michael Myers, Hollywood Undead is as frightening as they are captivating. Highlight #3. This:

An extract from writer and film-maker Nora Ephron's new book I Remember Nothing and Other Reflections, on the heartbreak of seeing your work fail, along with observations on omelette and chicken soup
I have had a lot of flops.
I have had movies that were total flops.
When I say total flops, I mean they got bad reviews and they didn't make money.
I have also had partial flops: they got good reviews and they didn't make money.
I have also had hits.
It's lovely to have a hit. There's nothing like a hit.
But it's horrible to have a flop. It's painful and mortifying. It's lonely and sad.
A couple of my flops eventually became cult hits, which is your last and final hope for a flop, but most of my flops remained flops.
Flops stay with you in a way that hits never do. They torture you.

Winter Is Coming.
We may be in the midst of winter now, but HBO have cleverly adopted this slogan for their forthcoming adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s A Song Of Ice And Fire, throughout which those words “Winter is Coming” are echoed many times. No strangers to epic storytelling, HBO have courageously stepped up to the plate in a bid to once again change the general public’s perception of modern fantasy storytelling.
Before Peter Jackson released his epic, game-changing Lord of The Rings trilogy adaptation, the fantasy genre had long been a place reserved for the geeks, freaks and outcasts of society, deemed by the average Joe as a place riddled with mystical races, talking dragons, magic swords and evil wizards intent upon the destruction of the world for no other reason than they 'wanted to'. Sort of like World of Warcraft, but without the sense of humour...

Gillian ranted at producers and said they would have to drag her by the hair is she got picked for another trial.
