This is the BEST crime show out there!

I have watched all of season 1 and have to say I absolutely LOVE this show! I am a big fan of crime-drama type TV (CSI, Law & Order) and this is my favorite of all of them. The filming style is so realistic and the characters are complex and multi-dimensional. I haven't seen a series this "real" since Hill Street Blues.

When we first meet the primary character, Fitch, it seems like he might spend the rest of the series as the weird, slightly off cop. I was worried the character would end up like Monk...a sort of savant with no social skills. As the episodes pass, we learn more about him and understand why he is so careful to avoid deeper connections with those around him. Layer after layer is revealed and we find an amazing example of a well-developed character.

All of the characters in this show are well crafted and all of the actors do a superb job with the roles. There are no trite plot developments...which is shocking considering how many crime drama episodes are already in existence.

I hope this series is renewed!

A breath of fresh air in Crime Shows

Yes, there are an overabundance of crime shows on Television.

Yes, I'm sure there is some skepticism as to whether the loyal fans of this show are truly commenting on show quality or just looking for some local publicity...

But this show is great. Really.

The acting is superb, the story lines are endearing, interesting, and unique, and they mix a good deal of intelligent comedy with drama. The character development is fantastic- as intricate as an indie movie. And the location provides a refreshing diversion from the typical crime show locales into something more gritty and real.

I watched this show with someone who was pretty resistant to "another cop show" and he now watches regularly... calling it "the best crime show I've seen in a long time"

    LOV this show

I look forward to seeing Detroit 187 each week. The characters are so well defined & interesting. The show is more about them..then any crime they are solving. I love the way they follow each partner on their separate investigations and the interaction between each character. I really do not have a favorite character because each one is so well defined. I look forward to finding out more about each one as the show progresses.

Also love seeing the views of a City that was once Grand..the Old Mansonsthat are now in need to rehab are so interesting.

BUT where is my show? It wasn't on last week and I am worried they might have moved to another time...or were canceled. Please keep this show on the air.

    Best cop show on TV

This show hits the mark. It kind of sneaked in on me as I don't recall any build ups for the show beforehand but it really caught my eye from the first minutes of the first episode. I couldn't wait for the next one. When it comes to reality this is the best cop show on TV. If you want stories, technology, and beautiful people that are nothing like policing then watch any of the others. Detroit 187 doesn't go all the way but it comes closer by far than anything else on the market. I hope it does well in the ratings and lasts a long time (like the old "law and order" show). The settings, the lighting, the camera angles, the story lines and the lives of the characters really project where its at considering each episode has to be presented (commercials include) in an hours time. They sure picked the right people to write, direct and produce this gem. I hope they stay on. Congratulations.

    Wonderful new addition to Television

A Detroit-er I am not; a West Michigan-der, I am. Started watching this from episode three (missed the first two), and I am blown away.

Hallelujah Detroit AND Michigan. I'd heard only rumors all summer 2010 that Detroit was trying to ground a "Law n Order" cop series. Suddenly every MI actor had "stars" in their eyes, wanting to be part of it. Finally we have a NETWORK success.

Granted it doesn't have the full 'grit' the long-running LAO does, but who says it has to? This show stands on its own. The fine cast, the writing, the production... And I love the docu-style shooting (filming). Keeps the audience part of the action.

If this series keeps going as it is, what other TV successes could be in store for Detroit (AND Michigan!)
