Anthony Michael Hall may not be getting any younger with each passing day, but his incredible performances over the years have most certainly cemented a legacy that very few could overpower; one that will live forever. In fact, his early roles in the entertainment industry among pieces like The Breakfast Club (1985) even had the actor cum producer recognized among the ‘Brat Pack.’

So when it came to the 2024-released documentary on the same, titled Brats, Hall was expected to grace the screens with his appearance alongside Demi Moore and Rob Lowe as well. And, for the record, he was asked to be a part of the project. But Hall turned down the chance of starring in the same of his own accord as he wanted to move forward in life instead of looking back.

What is the net worth of Demi Moore?
From her early days starring in St. Elmo’s Fire to her Brat Pack era to her much more recent full-frontal nude scene in The Substance, she is a Hollywood legend.
She has worked for decades, costarred with and even married other A-listers, and entertained generations.
After all of that, we certainly hope that she’s rolling in dough.

According to online estimates — which we would always be wise to view as educated guesses — Demi Moore’s net worth is around $200 million in 2024.
That is an impressive fortune, even by A-list actor standards.
Her wealth makes her a standout. But then, so does her career, her beauty, and her acting talent.

Demi Moore’s SAG Awards win for outstanding performance by a leading female actor on Sunday may be another stepping stone on her path to Oscar semi-inevitability, but what stands out has been her transparency and owning of her narrative, as exhibited in acceptance speeches that connect the dots from “that little girl who didn’t believe in herself” to her current stature as an icon of longevity.
It’s understandable to still be in awe of her Golden Globes speech for The Substance. Looking radiant on the stage, the actress eschewed a list of thank-yous to eloquently address the movie’s message about female insecurities. Let’s read the words: “I had a woman say to me, ‘Just know, you will never be enough. But you can know the value of your worth if you just put down the measuring stick.'”

Debates can be had over whether certain actors “count” as members of the Brat Pack, a label applied to a certain subset of young actors who all came of age in the 1980s. Molly Ringwald is without question one of them, but she’s not a fan of the term. “I think it kind of in a way sort of minimized the work that we were doing. I mean that’s the way that I felt,” she said on a recent reunion panel for The Breakfast Club at MegaCon Orlando.
NME reports that the now-veteran actor called the Brat Pack term “a pejorative,” one that proved hard for those actors to escape over the years since New York Magazine writer David Blum coined it for a 1985 feature.

Andrew McCarthy‘s recent documentary “Brats,” about his time as a teen idol in the 1980s alongside peers like Rob Lowe, Judd Nelson, Molly Ringwald, and Ally Sheedy, charted the actor’s path from irritation and outright hostility toward the “brat pack” label to grudging affection, as he recognized that the movies he looked down on while he was doing them — films like “St. Elmo’s Fire,” “Less Than Zero,” and “Mannequin” — meant more to an entire generation of filmgoers than more “serious” prestige fare like “The Falcon and the Snowman” ever could.
The danger for those of us who grew up on the movies is that the trajectory will be reversed — that films that seemed meaningful to our teenage eyes aren’t really all that great when viewed outside the lens of indulgent childhood nostalgia. Yet revisiting one of McCarthy’s most popular films via a new 4K Uhd release...

Golden Globe nominee Rob Lowe has shared a new update regarding the current status of Sony Pictures’ upcoming St. Elmo’s Fire sequel. In the 1985 movie, The West Wing alum portrayed the role of Billy Hicks, a charming saxophonist who’s not quite ready yet to grow up and face his responsibilities, despite already being married with a baby.
During a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Lowe confirmed that St. Elmo’s Fire 2 is still in development, after over seven months since the reunion project was first announced. However, he hinted that it may still take a while before the long-awaited sequel could go forward into production. "We’re putting together St. Elmo’s Fire 2. So we’re back working together… I’m dead [serious.] Yes. We’re gonna see what those people are doing at our ages now. This is a real thing," Lowe said. "I know. It’s great.

Disney’s general entertainment streamer has a great library, but what’s the ad experience like?
Hulu has a ton of great content to watch. The streamer comes with originals of its own, alongside a huge library of licensed titles, including next-day streams of primetime shows from ABC and Fox, titles from the FX cable network, and a lot more.
Unfortunately, Hulu also has the reputation of having one of the worst advertising experiences of any streaming service. I took a deep dive into the streamer to see what watching ads on Hulu is really like. You can read my thoughts below to see if ad-supported Hulu is the right choice for you.

The procedural drama Wild Cards on the CW was green-lit for a second season in May, but like so many CW shows before, it floated in the bubble about whether the network would be canceled. For fans of this intriguing Canadian-us show, it was a relief.
Season 2 of Wild Cards is currently in production and will premiere on Thursday, Feb. 6 in the US. Not only will we have more crime-fighting stories led by Max and her partner, Ellis, who is portrayed by Vanessa Morgan of Riverdale and Giacomo Gianniotti of Reign, respectively. A handful of guest stars will also join the roster.
It's big news, considering we didn't have much coverage between the renewal and the guest star update. The CW has a history of keeping mum on show spoilers, even when updates are considered spoilers. Wild Cards has followed the same pattern, so we'll take what we can get regarding its content.

Chicago – It’s New Year’s Eve, so what better day for a look-back to the 10 Best Films of 2024, a soul search exercise in experiences. How do you break down a hundred and a half films in a year to a 10 in the end? Patrick McDonald of HollywoodChicago.com, Wbgr-fm and Wssr-fm gives it his best shot.
If there was one trend that defined 2024, in my observation, was the perhaps beginning of the end of the superhero genre? The only huge hit was Deadpool & Wolverine ($640M), with Venom: The Last Dance in second ($132M) barely reaching its budget in domestic box office. Madame Web, Kraven The Hunter and Joker: Folie Á Deux were box office duds.
I format my 10 Best to reflect the on-air reviews I do weekly on Wbgr-fm and Wssr-fm and occasional appearances on Missourinet.com. Each of the 10 Best will be in the on-air or audio format for your listening pleasure.

Demi Moore and Rob Lowe are counted among the best stars that came out from the Brat Pack genre of films in the 1980s. Brat Pack referred to a group of young actors who co-starred in many coming-of-age films of that time. While Moore and Lowe were a hit on-screen pair after co-starring in St. Elmo’s Fire and About Last Night, they also “had a thing” off-screen.

Nearly 40 years later, St. Elmo’s Fire is continuing to burn bright for its stars.
After first teasing a sequel in July, Rob Lowe recently gave an update that the followup to the 1985 coming-of-age film is “moving along” as he and co-star Demi Moore are in contact about the film.
“We’re very much in contact now because we are actively trying to do [the] St. Elmo’s Fire sequel,” said Lowe on Kelly Ripa’s Let’s Talk Off Camera podcast.
“It’s going a little more slowly than I would have liked,” he added. “But that’s a good thing because we’re trying to find the right writer and the right story. But all of the actors, everybody is on board. Everybody is excited.”

The planned sequel to 1985’s St Elmo’s Fire still lacks a director and doesn’t even have a writer yet, but the original cast have all agreed to return.
Back in August we learned that there was a plan in place to bring back the core cast of St Elmo’s Fire for a belated sequel. When Rob Lowe, one of the stars of St Elmo’s Fire, broke news of the sequel, he stated that negotiations were happening but that none of the cast were yet confirmed. A few months on, Lowe (who seems to be the film’s unofficial spokesperson) has popped up again to confirm that every member of the original film’s core cast will be returning. That means Lowe, Emilio Estevez, Andrew McCarthy, Demi Moore, Judd Nelson, Ally Sheedy, Andie MacDowell and Mare Winningham are all set to reprise their roles in the film.

Rob Lowe is teasing that there is still plenty of fuel for the “St. Elmo’s Fire” sequel.
The actor said during SiriusXM’s “Let’s Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa” that the full cast of the original 1985 film are confirmed to reprise their respective roles, and that “The Substance” Oscar contender Demi Moore has especially been instrumental to the revival.
The feature, which was originally directed by late filmmaker Joel Schumacher and co-written by Carl Kurlander, also stars Andrew McCarthy, Emilio Estevez, Judd Nelson, Ally Sheedy, Andie MacDowell, and Mare Winningham. MacDowell’s daughter Margaret Qualley co-led “The Substance” with Moore.
A possible sequel to “St. Elmo’s Fire” was announced in June 2024 after the release of McCarthy’s documentary “Brats” which revisited the era of the Brat Pack actors.

The Twilight Zone Helicopter Crash is one of the most infamous accidents in Hollywood history. It claimed the lives of three people – veteran actor Vic Morrow and two child actors – Myca Dinh Le (age 7) and Renee Shin-Yi Chen (age 6). It led to a nine-month involuntary manslaughter trial, and numerous lawsuits and was considered the moment Hollywood finally started to take child labour laws seriously. It’s become a permanent stain on the legacy of director John Landis, and ghoulish footage of the incident is on permanent record, proving how complicated sequences can have deadly outcomes in only a split second. Indeed, in this episode of JoBlo Scandals, we’re digging into the Twilight Zone accident and the man at its heart, director John Landis.

Critics are calling Demi Moore‘s turn in “The Substance” a career-best performance as Elisabeth Sparkle, a former A-lister past her prime and drawn to the opportunity presented by a mysterious new drug. All it takes is one injection and she is reborn – temporarily – as the gorgeous, twentysomething Sue (Margaret Qualley). The only rule? Time needs to be split: exactly one week in one body, then one week in the other. No exceptions. Easy, right?
The satirical horror film was written, directed and co-produced by Coralie Fargeat, and is now Mubi’s biggest box office hit ever, grossing over $10 million stateside and nearly $20 million worldwide. In August 2024, Studio Ghibli's beautiful yet heart-wrenching war film, Grave of the Fireflies, was added to Netflix's worldwide streaming catalog. One month later, the movie has earned a place of honor on Netflix's new Global Top 10 film list for non-English works.
According to Netflix's viewing data for Sept. 16-22, Grave of the Fireflies is currently the seventh highest-viewed film among worldwide subscribers. Released in 1988, it is one of the handful of Ghibli works directed not by Hayao Miyazaki but rather Isao Takahata, who likewise co-founded Studio Ghibli. While Grave of the Fireflies barely cracks an hour and thirty minutes, it has still racked up over 2,200,000 hours of watch time across 1,500,000 total hits. Demi Moores latest project, The Substance, is a hit with critics so far, but this comeback needs one more thing to be completed. Demi Moore was one of the biggest stars of the 1980s and 1990s, and even though she has continued to be active in her career, her latest project, The Substance, is being considered her big comeback. After a long rotten streak on Rotten Tomatoes since 2011, Moores career has been thriving again with high-rated projects like The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, Please Baby Please, and the documentary Brats.
Now joining Moores current streak is The Substance, written and directed by Coralie Fargeat. The Substance follows Elisabeth Sparkle (Moore), the star of a popular TV aerobics show. On her 50th birthday, Sparkle is fired and later gets in a car accident. At the hospital, shes offered The Substance, a black market cell-replicating serum that temporarily creates a better...

If John Hughes’ The Breakfast Club remains the quintessential ‘80s Brat Pack movie, what ranks as a close second? If we’re talking headcount, Joel Shcumacher’s critically panned commercial hit St. Elmo’s Fire (which might be getting a sequel) tops them all. The movie follows a tight-knit group of seven Georgetown post-graduates navigating young adulthood and helped define the “Brat Pack” as a play on the fraternal friendship forged by Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack in the ‘50s and ‘60s. In addition to advancing Schumacher’s directorial career, St. Elmo’s Fire partially launched the careers of stars Demi Moore, Judd Nelson, Ally Sheedy, Emilio Estevez, Rob Lowe, Andrew McCarthy, and Mare Winningham, most of whom would be associated with the Brat Pack for the next 40 years. The subject is documented in the new Hulu documentary, Brats, written and directed by McCarthy in a tender and touching snapshot of...

The St. Elmos Fire reboot gets a promising update from an original cast member. Co-written and directed by Joel Schumacher, the original movie, which was released in 1985, follows a group of recent graduates from Georgetown University as they navigate the challenges of transitioning to adulthood. Upon release, it found success at the box office, mostly thanks to the St. Elmo's Fire cast, which included names like Emilio Estevez, Rob Lowe, Andrew McCarthy, Demi Moore, Judd Nelson, Ally Sheedy, and Andie MacDowell.
Now, in a recent conversation with The New York Times, Moore confirms she has had discussions about the St. Elmos Fire reboot, but it's in its early stages. She further revealed that to her knowledge, pretty much everyone from the original cast is interested in the reboot or at least open to the idea. Read her full quote below:

The episode also welcomed Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg to the show, where he picked apart Donald Trump’s racist comments about Vice President Kamala Harris.
But if you’re here, you’re probably wondering when exactly the Season 28 return will be. Well, worry not, we have that answer. It’ll be Tuesday,...

Former U.S. Green Beret Jordan Goudreau, who was arrested on July 31 in connection to his failed 2020 coup to remove Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, is the subject of Neon’s latest documentary “Men of War.”
Directed by Billy Corben (“God Forbid”) and Jen Gatien (“Limelight”) “Men of War” follows Goudreau, who, according to the film’s logline “finds himself in over his head and on the run after mounting the failed Venezuela coup and being chased by the American government who he spent his life fighting for.”
Goudreau, a former Special Forces soldier who served tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, planned to land in Venezuela via speedboat with approximately 60 other men in an attempt to capture Maduro, an authoritarian president. At the time, Goudreau said that he and his team were acting to protect Venezuela’s democracy after Maduro’s 2018 re-election, which was boycotted by the opposition and condemned as undemocratic by the U.

Rob Lowe has confirmed that talks are happening for a sequel to Joel Schumacher’s iconic 1985 Brat Pack film, St Elmo’s Fire.
Joel Schumacher made many films over the course of his career, but 1985’s St Elmo’s Fire, which Schumacher also wrote with Carl Kurlander, holds a special place for many. The film focuses on a group of graduates from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C, following their journey as they begin to adjust to post-university life and the responsibilities of adulthood. St. Elmo's Fire captures the struggles of young adults navigating adulthood in Reagan's America, highlighting the excesses and anxieties of the era. The characters reflect societal expectations of wealth, politics, and identity, illustrating the challenges of growing up in a changing world. Critics may dislike the characters' privileged whining, but the film's portrayal of post-college uncertainties resonates with themes of generational transition.

With the start of new seasons, both The Boys and House of the Dragon returned to Nielsen’s streaming charts for the week of June 10-16. Neither one could reach the heights of Bridgerton, however, as the Netflix drama zoomed back to the No. 1 overall spot with the release of season three’s second half.
Bridgerton amassed 3.47 billion minutes of viewing for the week — the biggest single-week total for any show so far this year, beating the 3.04 billion for Fool Me Once in early January. Almost 2.5 billion of Bridgerton’s minutes, or more than 70 percent of the total, were for the four episodes that premiered June 13.
The Boys also opened its fourth season on Prime Video on June 13, and the show grabbed 1.19 billion minutes of watch time for the week (including viewing of previous seasons). That’s the largest one-week total for the show since Nielsen began releasing weekly streaming...

Anthony Michael Hall was asked to be part of Brats but turned down the opportunity.
“I was asked to be a part of it, but you know what, I’ll tell you my attitude is you have to wish everyone success,” Hall told TV Insider. “It was just something I chose not to do because I’m always trying to move forward and make new things and do new stuff.”
Brats, a Hulu documentary from Andrew McCarthy released in June, explored the 1980s group of young actors who often appeared in coming-of-age films. Hall, a member of the group, appeared in 1985’s The Breakfast Club and 1984’s Sixteen Candles when he was just 15 and 16.
The documentary included appearances from actors Emilio Estevez, Ally Sheedy, Timothy Hutton, Demi Moore, Rob Lowe and Lea Thompson, along with writer-director Howard Deutch, producer Lauren Shuler and David Blum, the journalist who coined the term “Brat Pack.
