My wife and I saw this on opening night at the movie theater. Surprisingly, it was a decent crowd with mainly couples. The beginning was o'k , the ending was pretty good but the middle was absolutely borrrring!!!! It will almost put you to sleep. There was no chemistry , no character development and not much going on. Unlike the first two , Mike had rapport with his dance partners , this one had nothing. The dance partners were too old to be a stripping act so that would not work, but they could have come up with something better. This will probably be the end of this one, as I'm assuming this is going to get a thumbs down - all the way around.

I'll admit I've never watch the first two Magic Mike films, but after seeing this I guess I wasn't missing much. I took interest in this film cause Salma Hayek is in this, and she always seems to make anything better, but does she here, not quite.
Now don't get me wrong, Channing Tatum and Salma Hayek have proving that they very talented actors, and shown that they are more than just pretty faces. But they just don't click with each other, I felt Tatum had better chemistry with Sandra Bullock in The Lost City. Nothing for me really jumps out, the acting is null and void. Two new characters are amusing, but really serve no purpose here. Now dance scenes are okay, but the rest of the movie is not.

Greetings, my fellow film enthusiasts. It's time to crack open a cold one and dive headfirst into the world of Magic Mike's Last Dance. Buckle up, folks, because we're in for a bumpy ride.
Let's start with the positives, shall we? The feminist edge to the story is a breath of fresh air. It's great to see female characters taking the lead in a traditionally male-dominated genre. The chemistry between Channing Tatum and Salma Hayek is undeniable, and they make for a compelling on-screen duo. The movie's opening scene is also quite the seduction, leaving viewers wanting more. It's a great way to hook in the audience.
However, this is where the praise ends. Unfortunately, Magic Mike's Last Dance is nothing but a cash grab that lacks purpose and direction. The film fails to capture the raw, seductive energy of its predecessor, leaving audiences underwhelmed. The characters are flat, and the plot is meandering, which makes it feel like the filmmakers didn't have a clear idea of where they were taking the story.
Furthermore, the movie's attempt at humor falls flat, with jokes that often feel forced or just plain cringe-worthy. It's like they were trying too hard to recapture the lightning in a bottle that was the original Magic Mike, and it just didn't work. In the end, the film feels like a cheap imitation of its former self.
In conclusion, Magic Mike's Last Dance is a disappointing sequel that fails to live up to its predecessor. While the feminist edge and chemistry between the leads are commendable, the lack of direction, flat characters, and forced humor make it a forgettable film. Save your money and watch the original instead.

It's been almost eight years since the release of the Magic Mike XXL, which, in my opinion, gave the story the closure it needed. I enjoyed the first two films, minus the cheesy stripper dancing, because they gave you a feel for the lives these men lead as opposed to solely focusing on the stripping aspect. It was surprisingly engrossing. With Magic Mike's Last Dance, it does almost the opposite by focusing solely on Channing Tatum and Salma Hayek's phony romantic plot device as an excuse for Magic Mike to put on one final show, setting the film into a complete fantasy.
Now, don't get me wrong. I usually love Salma Hayek, but her acting in this film was terrible. I did not believe her character for one second and some of the lines she delivers are just awkward to watch. I was not buying her and Channing Tatum's romance at all. It was almost painful at times. Everybody else does a serviceable job, but when you have leads that have zero chemistry with each other, it can be a deal breaker.
Unfortunately, because of the chosen focal point for the story, the dancing also suffers. We get a decent enough show at the end, but there is only one other dancing scene in the film. The other bits of dancing are just that. Bits because they show them training to put together the show. Not one full dance number from that first dance at the beginning, all the way to the end.
Speaking of dancing, none of the dancers have any sort of personality or even play any role in the film other than to just be there as dancers. Thus bringing us back to the issue of the central plot focusing on the wrong thing. They didn't even bring back any of the original dancers to dance or even play any part in the movie besides a cameo group video chat for 2 minutes. The film even builds it up with Mike constantly dodging their phone calls but they do nothing with it and that was probably my biggest disappointment.
The only positive thing I can say about it is the direction is well executed. The camera angles, the effects and the editing work in the films favor, but that is not enough to save it from being a bad film.
Overall, I couldn't recommend it. The first two are diamonds in the rough, and this one is a rock that sinks straight down to the bottom of the ocean. If it wasn't for Steven Soderbergh's tight direction, I would rate it lower.
1.5 pumps out of 5.

3.5 out of 5 stars.
Magic Mike Last Dance is a pretty fair comedy drama film which may lack the fun the other films had but does go in a new direction that will probably divide the fans. I overall enjoyed the new direction. It may be playing it safe with less of male strippers. And more of Channing Tatum and Salma Hayek forming a relationship. And Tatum trying to help her form a dance performance. The plot is good with its new direction. The cast is good. Salma Hayek is a fun new addition to the series. The script's narrative structure is cheesy. The film may also lack the fun the other films had. The dance sequences are creative and entertaining.

This was supposed to go out with a bang. But it's fell way off the mark.
I know the original dancers were older now but i think they could've worked them in some how. This film just feels forced.
Salma Hayek plays a woman who probably didn't have much money of her own and was able to sway a wealthy British man with her physical assets and marry him, only to divorce him and come out of it with a big paycheck for herself. She's obviously a woman who never wants for anything and is extremely privileged and bored. So now her latest passion project is this "last show" for Mike. She's also a woman with huge self-esteem issues and likes to put words in peoples mouth in order to gaslight them into thinking they're saying something offensive to her. Hayek's acting just wasn't good in this. And honestly her character was annoying and took away from the film.
To put a cherry on top we're also forced to contend with a spoiled, entitled, wise cracking and stereotypical modern teenager who tries to come off as deep and philosophical with the intermittent narration of the ideology of dance. While this character isn't the worst in this film (Hyek's character is), it definitely doesn't add to the story.
In summary, the whole movie just didn't have the same energy or direction as the first two. It seems like this was a cash grab with aim of maximizing profits off of the Magic Mike name and franchise. I really thought this movie was going to be good. But we're just left with a product that was rushed and lazily written.

Had not been a fan or watcher of the "Magic Mike" films though I remember an ex female co worker of mine loved the films watching the performance of Channing Tatum. Well with this latest "Magic Mike's Last Dance" I decided to check it out because one of my favorite actresses Salma Hayek is on board for this one. Set in Miami after the pandemic male entertainer and dancer Mike(Tatum) has fallen on hard times as he finds himself out of work and broke tending bar in Miami. However fortunes changes when he meets Maxandra Mendoza(the beautiful and sexy as hell Salma Hayek) a wealthy and attractive socialite who's also going thru personal changes, yet she makes Mike an offer he can't refuse. The journey is off to London to a classic like theatre as Mike with the music and moves can entertain and start his life anew. Overall good story of connection and attachment, still it's a love tease look for some hot exotic, and steamy dance scenes early in the film between Mike and Max as you as the viewer will be refreshed and feel the love in the air. This movie moves along well as a sexy dance tease.

Pretty good finale to a wild trilogy! I take pride in being bisexual and autistic; I'm quite an oddball. Anyways I'm sure this will get mixed reviews/opinions cause it's more of a drama than a comedy with a few funny parts and some frustrating bits if that's voided out its great experience. Plenty of excitement, beautiful cinematography, loads of sexiness, and charm! Channing Tatum and Salma Hayek are exceptional together along the rest of the incredible cast. As much the film has some flaws its better the previous one I would say Steven Soderbergh is a great director I especially love his older films.

I had no idea this movie was was even out until I saw my local theater on the military base I'm on was showing it. I decided to go because I was so incredibly bored and had nothing to do, I looked at the reviews and they looked pretty poor. On my walk to the theater, I distinctly remember wondering why I was about to go waste my time because I gave zero *beep about seeing this movie. This movie honestly shocked me, I had an incredibly fun time with it, so much so that I went the next day with my buddy to see it again. The theater was having a ton of fun with it as well. They were only going to show it one night but the theater changed it to show it 2 nights since it got such a positive reaction. Only theater I've seen on base where people were clapping at the end so take that for what it is haha.
Really no complaints about this movie, really love Salma Hayek and Channing Tatum, thought their whole chemistry might be weird together but it worked flawlessly. The dance scenes and the music was incredible, story was entertaining.
For sure a unique premise compared to the other 2 movies, heard someone say this movie really didn't have to exist. Think that's true but I had a ton of fun with it, as a stand alone movie it will entertain. Recommend it for sure.

I went to this movie to have some escapist entertainment . The film delivers on that front for the most part. The dance sequences are sexy and exciting but the storyline is pretty pedestrian and the two leads do not really create a believable relationship. The first dance between the two stars is very hot but following that the dialogue between them is boring and hard to follow.
I feel the film projects a healthy eroticism which I appreciated .I think the film could have benefited from more dancing and better character development.
To sum up the film is fun and sexy. Its not a bad way to spend a couple hours though it is disappointing in some respects.

Safe to say this is the worst Magic Mike movie. It's boring more often than not and plays it way too safe. Women are more naked in a burlesque show than these men were. Why exactly is this rated R? Today's music videos are more R-rated than this. I would say the most entertaining scene was the lap dance Channing Tatum gives Salma Hayek but other than that most of the movie is just her whining about the show they're going to put on and when the show finally comes it's not nearly as exciting as it should be. I know plenty will say it but I'd rather this movie had been a Step Up movie and them just left Magic Mike at the sequel. Compared to the other two it was just an unfun ride. Also on a side note when she's going through the different types of men that "women want" a CEO that pays women more than men? I thought the goal was to be equal allegedly? And how about a man with a puppy! Men have dogs all the time how about a man that puts the seat down or does the dishes. Anyway unlike the other two I'll never see this one again.

The third & final chapter of the Magic Mike trilogy, Last Dance follows the titular stripper as he returns for one last gig after a wealthy socialite makes him an offer he couldn't refuse. Neither an exploration of the male stripping profession nor an unabashed celebration of female desire that its predecessors were, this final outing is all about letting Mike head out on his own terms.
Directed by Steven Soderbergh (Ocean's Trilogy & Logan Lucky), the film marks his own return to the franchise after the first picture and once again finds him digging deeper than necessary to turn the premise into something more than it needs to be. XXL expertly cracked the code on what it should be about but the director has different plans and makes all the wrong decisions.
The story begins on an incredibly promising note with an erotic, steamy & passionate lap dance but instead of riding on that early momentum provided by that sequence, the interest is allowed to fizzle out as it adds plot threads that require work from scratch. The romance subplot proves to be ineffective and it isn't until the final showdown that the film truly regains its sexual energy.
Overall, Magic Mike's Last Dance had the potential to make the most of Mike's final outing but squanders the opportunity by going into places it didn't need to. The strongest scene happens during the opening moments and then it is a frustrating long wait before something interesting happens again. Arguably the weakest of the three despite Channing Tatum's excellent input & outstanding dance choreography.

Magic Mike's Last Dance is a very different film to what's come before in this franchise, both for better and for worse but this gender swapped Pretty Woman is still a really good conclusion to the trilogy with a fun and pleasantly charming film that gives its title character the swan song he deserves.
3 films in and 8 years later Channing Tatum has undoubtedly still got it with a ridiculously impressive fluidity to his movement and a fiery chemistry with Salma Hayek Pinault, who brings a kindness and slightly understated nature compared to her usual roles which makes the louder moments work better.
Steven Soderbergh's direction is really good despite an overbearing voice over, leaving the majority of the visual flourishes and style for a big third act blowout that really impresses and it's early moments are a reminder that Hollywood films had really forgotten how to be sexy.

If I could give this a zero I would. I absolutely loved the first two Magic Mike movies. Both 10/10s. But this movie was something else... From the very beginning I was put off by the insanely out of place narration. Not only did it make no sense. But it had nothing to do with the plot or essence of the movie. People watch Magic Mike to watch Magic Mike dance and strip. Instead the audience was completely robbed of everything they came into the movie expecting. There were very few scenes of actual stripping and amongst those rare scenes, there was frequent cutting that was beyond irritating. The movie took itself way too seriously without presenting anything meaningful. There were many unnecessary and random scenes that made no sense in the context of the movie. ESPECIALLY the cat intermission scene. I don't even know what to say about it - I have no words. The play itself was absolutely atrocious. I felt like I was watching a scene from Glee. Overall I was shocked by the countless out of place aspects of the film. Narration, Unicorn, Intermission, Swan Guy, Shallow "Love Story", why is everyone British?, lack of good music. I really regret watching this. So if this saves anyone the hour and 52 minutes I lost of my life, I'm glad to be of service.

Despite its threadbare storyline this third instalment of the Magic Mike story is fairly watchable, almost entirely due to the charisma of Channing Tatum. Salma Hayek is clearly slumming but she throws herself into it much as when she played the vampire dancer in Tarantino's FROM DUSK TO DAWN.
Steven Soderbergh, who directed this and the first of the trilogy but not the second, is also slumming but he gives the movie plenty of pace and pizzazz. None of the new troupe of dancers gets a decent back story, and the show-stopping finale amounts to no more than a series of raunchy Madonna-style music videos. Nobody actually goes 'the Full Monty', which feels like a rip-off. The opening scene, in which Sayek purchases a sensational private dance from Tatum, is the highlight not only of this episode but of the entire series - and probably worth the price of admission.

Former male stripper Mike Lane, who lost his furniture business during the COVID-19 pandemic, is now in his forties, still in Miami and a bartender for a catering company. At Maxandra "Max" Mendoza's fundraising event, Mike is recognized by Kim, a lawyer for Max's foundation. Afterward, Mike is asked to speak with Max privately and then the Magic is supposed to begin. Unfortunately, I only saw some magic in the opening scene and at the end of the movie. Am not saying it is a bad movie, liked the movie a lot but just saying there was no Magic Mike. There was just Mike and a bunch of good dancers and performers. Guess my expectations were too high. However, the latter is not preventing me from giving this movie a Magic thumbs up! Not bad, just different.

I am a fan of the director Steven Soderberg. I thought his first film, "Sex, Lies and Videotape" was the best movie of 1989. And I also thought that the first "Magic Mike" was the best movie of 2012.
I have not seen the second film in the Magic Mike saga. But this third part is a very good movie on it's own merits. And it is not just for women or gay men. As a straight man I can say that I enjoyed the film very much.
Channing Tatum returns as Magic Mike, now working as a bartender in Florida. And then he meets Salma Hayek as a wealthy woman who pays him for a lap dance. She talks him into going with her to London to put on a show.
The plot is very simple but the film is very entertaining and very well made.
The actors are all very good and I had a good time with "Magic Mike's Last Dance".

LIKES:
The Comedy -The Mike series always has a little fun with the humor and trying to break things up.
-The third installment accomplishes this with some grace, finding the right times to naturally slip a line in and make me chuckle.
-Cute humor with a touch of dry comedy, it works to elevate without distracting too much -And yet there are still some occasional hits that really work together to maximize the stupidity and have you just simply laugh at the placement.
-Overall, it's not too hard or too soft, but hits just right when it comes to mixing laughs with the other elements of this story.
Victor -One of my favorite characters, the butler is by far the Niles of this movie -Respectable and a great device to help drive so much of the humor mentioned above, he adds this quirky element that stands out, and yet works with the madness of the movie.
-He's got well-timed delivery, a centric role to many others, and his chemistry with the character works on so many levels.
The Acting is Decent -Again, it's no Oscar role that revolutionizes acting, but that doesn't mean that it's anything to stick your nose up at.
-Mike's group have simple roles and most of them are accomplished in the short run time to be the spectacle the target audience has been looking at for years. And for that they get nods from me.
-Hayek is okay in this role. She's funny, passionate, and filled to the brim with that passion she can bring. However, she does sometimes get creepy, shallow, and loses the spark so the performance is a tad inconsistent.
-Tatum surprisingly is the second favorite actor in this to me. He's not super mind blowing, but the man can play Mike well, add a more development and growth to his role, and still bring the movies he is famous for.
-He is funny, dynamic, and the character that a Nicholas sparks movie would thrive on in future movie installments.
-Caitlin Gerard was there, but I can't say her getting alphabetical billing does it justice, when there were others who had more fire and deserved the spotlight.
-Again, the acting is simple and most roles don't have the spark, but... it works super well and I enjoyed it for what it was worth.
There Is a Story That Is Deeper -Mike's journey has again been in stages and this time the stage is set for an honorable and mature Mike that Is still one step further than what he was in the second movie.
-The story revolves around growth as an artist, that takes the premise and adds some art to it, while also adding a tale that connects the two main characters, outside of just campy love.
-It goes to relevant lessons, if sad, and shows just how much the movie covers in terms of how Mike had become mature in life from his experiences.
-And the movie has this fun little meta challenge that goes with it and breaks into the stage performance level to help amplify the point of this movie.
-All in all, it's a surprisingly classy movie, if naughty at times, with a little twist to help elevate the simplistic plot to something with a little more depth.
Moves Quickly -Don't want to be in the theater for long? Don't worry, this movie moves pretty quickly if I'm being honest.
-Though more story design would have been good, Mike's third journey moves at the quick attention span to give the goods with little of the wait.
-You'll get plenty of dancing, passion, passionate dancing, and the works that you really do not have time to get bogged down by dragged out plots, convoluted dances of drama, and going to sites to relive the trauma.
-It's all about just the entertainment, sprinkled with those moments to help add a little depth to the group. And for the reluctant partner dragged along, congrats you get done faster than you hoped.
The Music: -This movie series involves dancing which means that you have to have tunes that ell the scene right and get the rhythm down pat.
-And the musical director strikes gold again with Mike's list of songs to dance too.
-The third installment has a lot of variety in it, at least in the point of R&B, rap, hip-hop, and some passionate trance mixes that give the crowd what they want.
-These songs blared in my theater, but I must admit they really were designed to the choreography is really in tune with everything that it's a combination worth bragging on.
-Again, original songs are out, but the performance piece is so awesome that it more than made up for me in just how much the numbers were elevated in this particular movie, well at least to some degree.
The Dancing Is Awesome At Times -The movie brought in trained dancers who weren't just strippers, or so they say.
-And in this film, there are montages where their moves really come to life and I was impressed by the control they had on their body.
-Muscle memory, agility, strength, and so much culminate together into one of the best pieces I've seen in a while, and I loved seeing the mixture of arts flow to tell the tales they were shooting for.
-And sometimes, the humor in the numbers was on point and how well they were able to engage the audience added that theatrical element that Tatum said they were going for.
-But don't worry ladies, there is still plenty of the traditional stripper style in the movie to give you the kick you want, and still have a few moves tossed into the pot the same time.
DISLIKES:
Predictable -It's a Magic Mike movie and the amount of buildup, foreshadowing, and word play makes It too easy to see what is coming.
-The very fixation on dialog more than tells us who will end up where, and in many audience members... they aren't going to care.
-This predictable nature does make the film a tad boring for viewers like me, but it certainly is not the biggest dislike for me if being honest.
A Little Odd And Forced -Instead there are these ideals that are a bit odd and forced on us. A dialog heavy point that tries to teach us a lesson and instead sort of just forced its way into our eyes.
-I didn't hate it, but at times it got a bit too much and took away too much from the movie part I was enjoying to put these ideas out.
-And some of the romance was a tad odd for me to enjoy, which the trailers painted, just did not do it for me and came out a bit... interesting.
-It was an artistic style that sort of worked for me in terms of the message, but... it just did not quite get executed well and was a tad yucky for me in the grand scheme.
-Fortunately, it was again curved by the meat of this movie, the dancing and grandeur.
Story Elements Are Inconsistent -The movie tries to elevate the story as I said before, but unfortunately it's not consistent.
-I know, the meat of these movies is that you are there for the dancing and skin, and the story is second or third priority. Fair enough.
-However, the movie tries to set up this meaningful plot that sets the stage for this mind blowing evolution and then kind of teeters off.
-You think we are going to get a play and dance show together, and it's exciting, and along the way discovered elements that might help develop our hero and heroine -And the movie even tries to incorporate so many characters into the mix and give them significance only to kind of peter out on this aspect too.
-I think it's a time balance thing, but in reality the movie tried to do too much in too little of time and the resulting factor was that these elements were sort of dropped.
-Even the characters they tried to put in were less engaging, classic characters reduced to a single scene that feels just inconsistent and kind of disappointing.
-It lacks the balance and all this attempting to pull everything together in the last dance showed just how sometimes modern cinema tries too hard to cram too much into one movie and let the gimmicks do the lifting to distract and blunt it.
-There was major potential here, it just did not come out all the way.
THE VERDICT The truth is.. .this may be my favorite Magic Mike of the series, but mostly because the film adds elements that an audience member like me can enjoy more. The witty comedy at times, the pacing, the music with the dancing are the selling points for me and the show they provide as these talented dancers continue to blow me away with the movies they did. It uses dance so well and on better levels than the previous, but still maintains its hold on the fundamentals that made this series the popular franchise it has become. Certainly it's predictable, the acting is okay, and the theatrics are well, theatrical, but there is an enjoyable element to it. However, the movie fails for me in the attempt to be more and then sort of change its mind near the end. Maybe the time got the best of it, or maybe they felt they were straying too far from the elements of their target audience. I can't say, but the movie's ending while certainly an entertaining combination of music and sensational body control, also feels like a cop out from the building they were doing for most of the movie. Thus, this film sort of loses points for trying to be different and then just giving up. Still, it's not as much of a dumpster fire as some may lead you to believe. I think the second movie still wins for character focus and strip teasing, but this one wins for theatrics and fun, with the twist of dance styles.
Thus, my scores for this film are:
Comedy/Drama: 6.5-7.0 Movie Overall: 6.0.
- Ayub Khan-Din was a star for me and though it wasn't the most mind blowing of the bunch, it did work to help add variety to the performances in this movie. Solid work to say the least.

Oh my, this is an AWFUL movie. I love Salma Hayek but even she can't rescue this stinker! The "narration" is dreadful. The plot is ridiculous--even for this type of movie, and boring. The characters are very poorly developed. The dynamic tension between the leads is not believable. A few of the dance numbers were pretty good but it's a long movie to watch for a few minutes of dancing. It just CANNOT BE that this was directed by Steven Soderbergh. Didn't he notice how stupid and disjointed this was? It leaves a stink on everyone involved. This review needs another 30 characters but how many ways are there to say--don't waste your time on this stupid bad movie!
