Midnight Sun, a Twilight novel by Stephanie Meyer, is heading to the small screen at Netflix – in animated series form.
There was a time in the early 2010s when Twilight was just about the biggest film franchise around.
It comprises five films – 2008’s Twilight, directed by Catherine Hardwicke, 2009’s New Moon, directed by Chris Weitz, 2010’s Eclipse, directed by David Slade, and the two part finale Breaking Dawn, directed by Bill Condon and released in 2011 and 2012. Their success was such that two parody films were also released in quick succession, the much maligned Vampire’s Suck and Breaking Wind.
The films followed Kristen Stewart’s Bella Swan as she becomes romantically involved with vampire Edward Cullen, played by Robert Pattinson, and werewolf Jacob Black, played by Taylor Lautner. Which all leads to a battle with vampire coven The Volturi.
Adapted by future Jessica Jones creator Melissa Rosenberg, the large ensemble cast also included Billy Burke,...

Danny Trejo (Machete) and Danny Glover (Lethal Weapon) star in the action-packed follow-up to the 2012 cult hit Bad Ass with Bad Ass 2: Bad Asses, sucker punching its way onto Digital HD March 25 and on Blu-ray and DVD April 8 from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment. Returning writer and director Craig Moss (Breaking Wind, 30 Nights of Paranormal Activity with the Devil Inside the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) brings our two unlikely heroes together to deliver the most hard-hitting, butt-kicking movie experience to hit home entertainment this year.
Vietnam vet Frank Vega (Trejo) now runs an East L.A. community center where he trains young boxers to survive in and out of the ring. But when his prize student falls in with the wrong crowd and turns up dead, Frank teams up with his pal Bernie (Glover) to take matters into their own fists and prove that justice never gets old.

Twilight parody trailer: Twiharder (image: John Gearries and Tanya Zoeller in Twiharder) [See previous post: "Twilight Parody vs. Lionsgate and Summit: $500 Million Lawsuit."] Say what you will about the productions values found in (or missing from) the Twiharder clip below, but you must admit that in the first scene leading lady Tanya Zoeller does a really good imitation of Kristen Stewart’s voice and mannerisms (e.g., lip-biting). And I gotta admit that I found kinda kinky-funny watching Christopher Sean’s use of his abs to stop the bleeding on the forehead of Zoeller’s Stella Pond. Edward Cullen parodist John Gearries, for his part, does a pretty good imitation of John Gilbert in His Glorious Night, repeating "I love you" ad nauseam. Stanley Donen and Gene Kelly’s Singin’ in the Rain, by the way, had Kelly parodying John Gilbert in that early talkie. Now, why didn’t anyone try to stop them? Well, a key reason is that the...

This a short rendition of the normal Fearless Forecast because the new releases are just limited and/or don’t really appeal to a broad audience. So, based on that analysis Twilight: Breaking Wind Part 2 will once again earn the top spot, albeit at a low number.
Though Breaking Wind Part 2 will stay on top with the number one spot, second place is where the battleground is. Skyfall has held onto the second place spot for some time now and will have to duke it out with newcomer Rise of the Guardians.

Breaking Wind: Part 1

Directed by Craig Moss, the man behind The 41 Year Old Virgin Who Knocked-Up Sarah Marshall and Felt Superbad About It, Breaking Wind: Part 1 is, like Vampires Suck before it, a spoof of the blockbuster Twilight franchise and follows Bella – who finds herself the object of everyone’s affection including Edward Colon, Jacob the overweight but girthy werewolf and Little Edward the three foot six pint sized version of Edward. If that wasn’t enough to worry about, Bella and the gang soon realise that an army of freshly turned vampires (Noobs) are making their way down from Seattle to Forks to kill Bella after tracking her scent from her only copy of ‘Ebony Thunder’ magazine. Both the Colons and the Werewolves must come together to protect Bella,...

Even if you only remotely follow Hollywood’s awards season, you know that the Razzies are the anti-Oscars. Now in its 32nd year, the Razzies dis-honor the year’s worst films and performances with a tacky little homemade-seeming trophy topped with a golden raspberry.
But the differences, as I found out last night when I covered movie’s smallest night, do not end there. Oh no, all awards ceremonies are not created equal, I assure you. I’m not sure what should have been my first clue — the new April Fool’s Day observance date, the parking in a public...

From the director who brought you The 41 Year Old Virgin Who Knocked Up Sarah Marshall And Felt Superbad About It, comes a wildly funny spoof of the blockbuster Twilight franchise, Breaking Wind – which is released on DVD today, offers some light relief to all those suffering from Twilight fatigue.
Breaking Wind follows Bella, who finds herself as the object of everyone’s affections: from an eerily Pattinson-esque Edward, Jacob the overweight but girthy werewolf, to Edward’s pint-sized (but oddly sinister) miniature alter ego Little Edward. Raunchy hilarity ensues when Bella’s life is threatened by the vengeful Victoria and her gang of blood sucking Vampire ‘Noobs’, and Edward and Jacob must put aside their differences to save her. Again.
Brought to you by Revolver Entertainment, directed by Craig Moss and starring Heather Ann Davis, Danny Trejo, Eric Callero, Emma Bell and Frank Pacheco, this tongue-in-cheek Twilight parody will appeal to Twi-hards and haters alike.

It turns out there is a caliber of filmmaker out there who aren’t merely as bad as Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer (the “creative” minds behind Epic Movie, Meet the Spartans, etc.), but who could take a few lessons from them on how to improve their craft. Friedberg and Seltzer have long taken flack for their horrible films which don’t so much satirize as they do copy and paste pop culture trends into a hodgepodge of characters and events and then call it a comedy. The jokes don’t even need to be relevant to what’s going on. And now, with Twilight on the verge of its climactic finish, it seems everyone’s trying to sink their teeth in the parody craze while it’s still funny. Only, it hasn’t been funny since long before Friedberg and Seltzer made Vampires Suck, and it’s even less...

It’s Friday, so you know what that means – lots more films released in cinemas across the country! Yes, after last weeks box-office behemoth that was The Hunger Games this week seems positively chock-full of movies to suit every taste – from animation to fantasy, dance flicks to documentaries, there literally is something for everyone in the latest cinema releases. Here’s the highlights:
Nationwide Releases: The Pirates! In an Adventure With Scientists
Hugh Grant, starring in his first animated role, is the luxuriantly bearded Pirate Captain – a boundlessly enthusiastic, if somewhat less-than-successful, terror of the High Seas. With a rag-tag crew at his side (Martin Freeman, Brendan Gleeson, Russell Tovey, and Ashley Jensen), and seemingly blind to the impossible odds stacked against him, the Captain has one dream: to beat his bitter rivals Black Bellamy (Jeremy Piven) and Cutlass Liz (Salma Hayek) to the much coveted Pirate Of The Year Award.

There wasn’t a whole lot on offer last week with Hunger Games unequivocally eclipsing all the other releases. It’s received fairly unanimously positive reviews and looks like being the first box-office smash of the summer. Meanwhile both The Kid With a Bike and Wild Bill have received their own fair share of plaudits and would appear to be well worth seeking out.
This time out though there’s a wide range of releases hitting the screens ranging from big-budget mythological blockbuster and animated piracy adventure to hard-hitting prison documentary and a ghastly looking vampire spoof.
If you want to check to see if any of these films are playing near you, you can visit Find Any Film and they’ll be able to help.

David Lean Directs Noel Coward (Criterion Collection)
In Which We Serve, This Happy Breed, Blithe Spirit, Brief Encounter In this bunch I have only seen Brief Encounter and I loved it. It's a film I would include in a recommended session alongside Before Sunset although Before Sunset is a superior film in my mind. As for the others, I am looking forward to giving them a watch and will be doing so shortly. I tried to find some time yesterday to begin watching This Happy Breed, but the clock was working against me.
Corman's World I wouldn't necessarily say this is a must buy, but it is without a doubt a must rent if only for the Jack Nicholson portion alone. To see cool guy Nicholson break down and start crying while talking about Corman is all I think I really need to say about this film to get you to watch it.

(Markus Schleinzer) Michael Fuith, David Rauchenberger, Gisella Salcher. 96 mins
The daily routine of an Austrian paedophile who keeps a young boy locked in his cellar was hardly something anyone was queuing up to see, but this challenges us, and itself, to take a look. At the same time, it thankfully averts its gaze from scenes of actual abuse. There are keen observations on parenting, privacy, power relations and more, but the flat, factual approach verges on dull, and the absence of empathy ultimately just leaves you feeling grubby. So get in line for the grimmest movie of the year!
This Means War (12A)
(McG, 2012, Us) Chris Pine, Tom Hardy, Reese Witherspoon. 98 mins
Two suspiciously close CIA buddies fall out when they discover they're dating the same woman – cue the misuse of government equipment and their own combat skills for one-upmanship. The romcom high concept is novel for a good reason: it's completely ridiculous.

Following on from the reveal of some new artwork for the latest 'Twilight' spoofage 'Breaking Wind' the Craig Moss' ('Bad Ass', 'The 41-Year-Old Virgin Who Knocked Up Sarah Marshall and Felt Superbad About It') project has opened it's humour doors some more by unleashing a new trailer filled with toilet-humour and not overly bad sight gags. It's a shame the spoof genre has effectively lost its footing quite dramatically since the 90's. However, it'll take something far more special than something like 'Breaking Wind' to really get it back on its feet. The spoof stars the likes of Heather Ann Davis ('The Lake'), Eric Callero, Frank Pacheco ('Wizards of Waverly Place') and Danny Trejo ('Machete'). Check out the new trailer below and check it out on DVD when it arrives this March courtesy of Lionsgate...

While I eagerly sit in my little corner eagerly anticipating the September 6th return of "Sons of Anarchy" which will bring with it the introduction of a new associate played by none other than Danny Trejo, we have a little something that is bound to make SoA fans smile - for about 30 seconds.
Turns out Trejo is teaming up with Ron Perlman for more than just a few appearances on SoA. The duo have gotten themselves involved in a questionable production aptly named Bad Ass. The title refers to Trejo's Frank Vega, a decorated Vietnam Vet who returns home to find his life falling apart.
It's not until forty years later when an incident on a commuter bus (where he protects an elderly black man from a pair of skin heads) makes him a local hero where he's suddenly celebrated once again. But his good fortune suddenly turns for the...

Well I think we all knew this was coming. Writer-director team Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer are currently putting the finishing touches on the next in a long line of terrible spoof flicks that includes Epic Movie, Meet the Spartans, and Disaster Movie. Their target this time around? Twilight. Obviously. The movie is called Vampires Suck, and it is being rushed to theatres in time for a late summer release. There is one surprising thing about it though: the movie stars The Hangover and Community star Ken Jeong. Can he possibly save Friedberg and Seltzer from another laughter-less comedy? I think we can all agree that Twilight is an easy target (a little too easy), but this movie will have a pretty good shot at cashing in on the general contempt that most non-Twi-hards seem to feel for the franchise. In fact, there's also another competing Twilight spoof in the...

The director behind this spoof of Judd Apatow movies brings the DVD home on June 8th
The 41 Year Old Virgin Who Knocked Up Sarah Marshall and Felt Superbad About It is a raunchy, hilarious tribute to all things Judd Apatow. This mish-mash of heart and pathos is a strange trip that follows perpetual nerd Andy, a mid-life virgin who accidentally knocks up his first conquest and then has to immediately deal with the repercussions the very next day. No stone is left unturned as The 40 Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up, and Superbad are given the spoof treatment they so richly deserve. Directed by Craig Moss, the 41-Year-Old Virgin Who Knocked Up Sarah Marshall and Felt Superbad About It [Ws] [Unrated] arrives on DVD today, June 8th.
We recently caught up with Craig to find out more about the daunting task of making the Apatow Universe even funnier than the second time around.
