Green Lantern: Emerald Knights (2011)

FAQ

Green Lantern: Emerald Knights

Green Lantern is a comic book published by DC Comics. The Green Lantern Corps is an intergalactic peace-keeping force created by the extraterrestrial Guardians of Oa. According to Rob Allstetter's Comics Continuum (March 18th, 2010), "According to sources, the new Green Lantern animated project takes a look at the origins of the Green Lantern Corps, including the first ring wielders." Producer Bruce Timm confirmed that the movie is an anthology of 5 or 6 individual stories, "each story in it focuses on a different Green Lantern in the Green Lantern Corps." Segments will focus on the characters Abin Sur, Sinestro and Kilowog (in a tale of his early training days), among others. The installments will all be linked by an unifying theme.

Apparently not. There was a proposal for a direct sequel to the Green Lantern: First Flight animated movie, but it was shot down because the earlier film didn't show a profit quickly enough. Green Lantern: Emerald Knights was green-lighted in order to tie into the marketing for live-action Green Lantern theatrical feature to be released in June 2011.

Lauren Montgomery is co-directing along with Jay Oliva and Chris Berkeley. Montgomery has said that she is directing one of the short stories (the one that features Green Lantern Kilowog) plus the overarching story that links all of the segments together.
