NCIS: Sydney Season 2, Episode 5, "Shucked" takes a while to get where it's going, but the episode is worth the wait. The CBS spinoff finds its groove in a story about human trafficking that allows the personalities of its characters to shine through. Sometimes, the Australian series feels more like a generic crime drama that happens to have the NCIS acronym attached to it; this is an installment that would fit right in amongst the original NCIS episodes.

"Shucked" starts out with the murder of Petty Officer Rueben Daniels, but evolves into a plot about smuggled abalone, and then a story about human trafficking in a strip club. The ultimate conclusion may not surprise anyone who's watched this franchise regularly, but there are enough moments that turn things left instead of right that audiences will be entertained.

Music supervisors behind the songs of “Wicked” and “A Complete Unknown” led the winners at the 15th annual Guild of Music Supervisors Awards on Sunday night.

On the TV side, the music supervisors behind “Agatha All Along” and “Baby Reindeer” triumphed.

Stephen Schwartz was awarded the Icon Award to celebrate his contributions to the music and film industry. The composer and lyricist performed his song “Beautiful City” on stage from his musical “Godspell.”

Oscar nominees Abraham Alexander and Adrian Quesada performed their nominated song “Like a Bird” from “Sing Sing,” which took the prize for best song written and/or recorded for a film. Meanwhile, Danielle Ponder performed her nominated song “Egún” from Apple TV’s “Manhunt,” and the artist Role Model performed their song “Sally, When The Wine Runs Out” as the Spotlight artist of the evening.

Music producer and supervisor Bonnie Greenberg accepted the Legacy Award for her outstanding career in music supervision.

Maggie barely lost them and vowed to find Analis. She got a break when a 911 dispatcher named Joel reached out to the FBI as Analis had managed to contact him. Joel would help the team over the phone, as they played the traffickers off each other to find Analis.

The Society of Composers and Lyricists announced its 2025 awards recipients at the sixth annual Scl Awards.

Although the Grand Theft Auto series by Rockstar has long been criticized for its ludicrous and frequently unsettling portrayals of extreme but realistic situations, it also uses the justification that it is a parody. However, it is nothing in front of Manhunt. This game took a chance by heavily relying on the most mature aspects of the same world after the high-profile controversy that followed Grand Theft Auto 3‘s success in the early 2000s.

Exclusive: Tobias Menzies has joined the ensemble of Ruben Östlund’s next film The Entertainment System is Down. Sources say he replaces Joel Edgerton who had to part ways with the film due to scheduling conflicts. Menzies joins a cast that includes Keanu Reeves, Kirsten Dunst, Nicholas Braun, Samantha Morton and Daniel Brühl. A24 is handling domestic distribution.

The film is another social satire from the director that is set on a long-haul flight where the entertainment systems fail, and an eclectic group of international passengers are forced to face the horror of being bored.

The project will be Östlund’s second English-language film and seventh feature after The Guitar Mongoloid (2004), Involuntary (2008), Play (2011), Force Majeure (2014), The Square (2017) and Triangle of Sadness (2022). The last two of these won the director the Palme d’Or in Cannes, meaning he is one of only a handful of filmmakers to have won the accolade twice.

The police procedural may be a staple of network TV, but it's finding new life on streaming, as Criminal Minds: Evolution has found a welcome home on Paramount+. The original Criminal Minds aired on CBS for 15 seasons, while Criminal Minds: Evolution will be going into its third season. It brought back favorite characters such as David Rossi (Joe Montegna), Emily Prentiss (Paget Brewster), Jennifer “J.J.” Jareau (A.J. It’s that time of year again. While some directors annually share their favorite films of the year, Steven Soderbergh lists everything he consumed, media-wise. For 2024––another year in which he not only premiered a new film, but shot another and is prepping another to begin production shortly––he still got plenty of watching in.

At the studio behind Apple’s Lincoln assassination series “Manhunt” and the upcoming Russell Crowe drama “Nuremberg,” Janes will elevate the content slate working closely with writers, directors and producers. She’ll report to Walden production president Benjamin Tappan.

After a manhunt that lasted several days, police arrested a suspect in the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson on Monday. Identified as Luigi Mangione, 26, the suspect was arrested in Pennsylvania on a local firearm charge and declared a person of interest before authorities were able to charge him with one count of murder in connection to Thompson’s death, which has been called a “pre-planned, targeted attack.” Mangione is currently being held in Pennsylvania after fighting extradition to New York City during a hearing on Tuesday.

The brutal history of the turbulent sectarian conflict known as Troubles seeped into his consciousness at an early age. As a raw and recent history, it was inescapable. “I grew up in a place where there are 18-foot walls running through the city separating people,” he says.
