Overall a pretty good film; nothing special but heartwarming and very touching

You are Omasou is a very interesting movie. When you first watch it, it feels kind of nerdy and dumb because every characters are dinosaurs with some serious human personalities. The main character is Heart and he goes through some serious confusion and suffering coming to terms of being a meat-eater and being raised by an herbivorous dinosaur as a mother. If you ever watched Land Before Time, that sentiment honestly felt so underwhelming. Here, it's a constant factor that goes on in Heart's mind.

The motif in the film feels a bit generic but I wouldn't necessarily call that bad. I mean after all most Hollywood movies nowadays are generic and no one else seems to mind the exact same format/layout in every movie they watch. Omasou however, is very touching and heartwarming. I couldn't help smile as the first interactions Heart had with Omasou, looking at him for the first time saying "You look delicious." Omasou, just born looking at Heart, thinks Omasou, which in Japanese I think means "delicious" is his name and although Heart's original intentions were to try and get a meal out of it, the two grow extremely close and there are times you would sort of tear up multiple times. Its a good watch for sure and I would probably want a sequel or a spin off show or something.

This is a hidden gem in a haystack. Give it a shot.

    Well, thank you,

The colorful fruits and forests of childhood, surrounded by inexplicable cyan when lost, the plain where one can happily eat meat is a golden yellow, and the armor of the little armored dragon is strangely matched with pink and orange. When facing my father, for some reason, the surroundings become gray. On the day I met my lover, the sky was clear and clear, and when I bid farewell to my mother, it was snowing white... Well, thank you, Mom, for bringing me to this colorful world.

90 minutes, a standard three act drama with three clues, every half an hour, and each scene has a new emotional turning point at the end, with a clear and smooth narrative. An exemplary animation script.

A beautiful and moving animation, the great maternal love is moving.

Heart's adoptive mother gave unreserved care and protection to children of a different race than her own. The contradiction between staying and leaving runs through the whole time, and Heart struggles in her attachment to her mother and her exploration of her own identity. This contradiction is depicted incisively and vividly in the film, which strikes people's hearts.

From the point of view of narrative rhythm, the beginning is quickly brought in, the rhythm is fast; In the middle, it slows down, delicately showing the emotional bond between Heart and Umasou, and the extension of the story line is natural and smooth, without violation of the sense of harmony. It has to be said that even if this rich content is made into an animation of two points or more, it will not appear empty, but can be more deeply immersed in this contradictory world.

In general, the film is almost perfect in plot and structure, the use of camera and other techniques are also very eye-catching, and every picture is full of deep feeling. Through laughter and tears, to realize the true meaning of love and growth.

The style makes up for a lot.

Normally I wouldn't give a movie like this such a high score, it didn't actually blow me away in the sense that a cult classic feature film would. But where it really shone for me was with the art style and the voice acting. You've heard this story before, an adopted child does not belong and ventures out to find their roots. It branches out a little bit after that but not a lot. Either way, yes the story is pretty typical for a children's animation but none the less it's a very enjoyable watch. It's only been a few hours since I watched it and I think I'll be re-watching it a short while after posting this review.

It's yet another example of kids entertainment being done right, because anyone can enjoy it just like a kid would.
