The DC Animated Universe is generally hailed as one of the better adaptations of superhero comics. While it was the definitive version of characters like Batman, Wonder Woman, and Superman, some characters suffered a lot throughout the shows, and fans felt that they were slighted in their depictions. When there are so many characters to focus on, some end up falling by the wayside.
Green Lantern Jon Stewart in Justice League Unlimited
While the Trinity and the characters that are close to them often got the lion’s share of character and narrative development, there were a few characters that failed to get their day in the spotlight in these shows. One such character was Green Lantern, be it Hal Jordan or Jon Stewart. Both Lanterns were instrumental parts of the teams they were on, but fans are pretty sure that they could have done better with these characters.

Ken Fero’s grim update to his fearless 2001 documentary Injustice, about police brutality against black men, is a shocking case of more of the same
Twenty years in the making, Ken Fero’s Ultraviolence is the follow-up to Injustice from 2001, a documentary that is the most important British nonfiction film of my professional lifetime: a radical, passionate work about the ongoing scandal and tragedy of deaths in UK police custody, largely of black men. That film challenged the consensus and earned Fero and his co-director Tariq Mehmood nothing but obstruction from the authorities. The police federation threatened him with writs and the terrestrial broadcasters nervously shied away.
Nowadays, it is precisely these establishment figures who have learned to make blandly respectful noises at the mention of Black Lives Matter and George Floyd. But for decades, Fero has been telling them that it’s been happening right here, in the UK,...

Long before the tragic deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Michael Brown, Eric Garner and others helped galvanize the Black Lives Matter movement, people of color had been dying at the hands of white law enforcement officers for centuries. Despite the utter glut of fighting games out there right now, the sad fact is that things are winding down for most of them. Games like Street Fighter V, Mortal Kombat 11, Tekken 7, and Dragon Ball FighterZ are reaching the end of their post-launch content roadmaps, which means we need some new blood out there soon.

Nancy Grace is joining Fox Nation, the network’s streaming service, with a crime show airing in January 2020.
The series will be similar to Grace’s eponymous show on Hln, which aired from 2005 to 2016, and follow Grace as she creates her podcast and SiriusXM radio show, “Crime Stories With Nancy Grace,” five days a week.
“We spotlight breaking crime and justice news, help find missing people, especially children, solve unsolved homicides and analyze clues left behind,” Grace told the Associated Press.
Grace is a former prosecutor who has since made her name on television as a political commentator. In 2005, she hosted the “Nancy Grace” primetime show on Hln (formerly CNN Headline News), where she covered high-profile criminal cases like the Casey Anthony and Amanda Knox trials. She also made a few cameos on shows like “Law & Order: Svu,” “Raising Hope,” and the film “Hancock.”

If you’re like me, then you believe Christopher Nolan’s trilogy of Batman movies remain the gold standard for what comic book films can achieve. Sure, The Dark Knight Rises may have had its glaring flaws, but it still made for one hell of a flick.
Amazingly, no video game adaptations followed 2005’s Batman Begins, which I actually found to be a pretty enjoyable experience. For those who didn’t have the pleasure of playing it, the game was essentially Splinter Cell for Dummies but it did a fine job of immersing you in that world.
By now, I’m sure you know of how a game based on The Dark Knight fell through, though The Dark Knight Rises had been planned for consoles. According to ComicBook.com, Monolith would’ve handled developmental duties. Unfortunately, however, Nolan wouldn’t green light it, so the kibosh was put on the game during the pre-production stage.

Nancy Grace was floored by the 2005 murder of her close friend Pamela Vitale. But as hard as it was to process the loss, what came next was equally challenging: Police initially identified Vitale’s husband, prominent criminal defense attorney Daniel Horowitz, as a suspect.
Grace knew in her gut that Horowitz didn’t murder his wife — and just 5 days after the crime, the real culprit, a 16-year-old neighbor, was arrested and eventually sentenced to life in prison.
All of this unfolds in the first episode of Oxygen’s new series “Injustice With Nancy Grace,” which examines little known cases involving wrongful accusations, botched investigations, suppressed evidence, unclear motives, or unjust sentences. In the premiere, she looks at the Vitale case and gives Horowitz a chance to share what was going through his mind through the tragedy and its aftermath.

Nancy Grace plans to tackle crime and injustice with her new Oxygen series Injustice with Nancy Grace.
Each episode of the true crime series will expose wrongful accusations, botched investigations, suppressed evidence, unclear motives and unjust sentences, according to Oxygen’s description of the show.
Grace says she plans to use the platform to help solve crimes.
“To solve unsolved homicides, you need a fire inside you, propelling you to uncover the tiniest shards of evidence for answers. As a voice for those that can no longer speak for themselves, a crime victim turned crime fighter, I want justice,” she said in a statement. “At Oxygen, we investigate shocking injustices that may never have come to light. Until now.”
The longtime legal analyst and former Fulton County, Georgia prosecutor has a personal connection to crime. Her fiancé was murdered in the 1970s, while she was a student in college.

Detective Comics #1004 reveals a very different origin for Batman villain, the Arkham Knight.
You would be forgiven for throwing a little eye roll at Detective Comics when you heard that the main Batman villain of the latest arc would be the Arkham Knight. After all, very rarely do ideas that start in other mediums translate all that well to comics. Also, the Arkham Knight is...already spoken for in main DC continuity..
You would be forgiven for it, but you would also be wrong for doing so. First, as we’ve discussed several times before, DC’s track record on comics adaptations is shockingly good. The various Injustice books have been fun, while the Mortal Kombat lead in books have been worthwhile additions to the series and the Arkham Knight adaptation book was high quality. Additionally, the Arkham Knight adaptation was written by Peter Tomasi, who is...

Hollywood has done little so far to protest Georgia’s new anti-abortion law known as the “heartbeat” bill, which Gov. Brian Kemp signed into law last week. Still, a studio source has confirmed to Deadline Kemp has postponed an upcoming trip to Los Angeles where he was to meet with film and TV executives and tout Georgia’s lucrative tax credits which currently see 38 productions shooting in the Peach State.
Kemp’s press secretary Cody Hall said Tuesday that the governor will be touring Peach state production studios “to meet with employees and reaffirm his commitment to the film industry in our state.” Hall added that “We have confirmed a date to go out to La this fall.”

The DC Universe is bringing out the dead. Meet the DC zombies in this exclusive first look at DCEased #1 from DC Comics.
DCeased feels long overdue. The global zombie phenomenon really took off almost ten years ago when The Walking Dead first aired, but it has been an ongoing comics concern for more than 15 years. The Walking Dead’s first issue came out in 2003 before kicking off a television phenomenon in 2010, and since then everyone from Marvel to Idw’s Hasbro licenses have done big zombie events. Ed Boon, custodian of the Mortal Kombat and Injustice franchises, "would love to" tackle Marvel's roster...
NetherRealm Studios, the developers best-known for their work on the Mortal Kombat and Injustice franchises, would "love to" make a fighting game based around Marvel Comics characters. Or perhaps a title that pits Marvel against DC. Apparently, NetherRealm has even spoken to Marvel about it.
Of course, there have been fighting games starring Marvel icons before: the Marvel vs. Capcom series springs straight to mind, as does the Marvel: Strike Force mobile game. But, in recent years, it's easy to argue that Marvel hasn't had a fighting game on the same scale as Mortal Kombat or Injustice, the latter of which gave DC's roster of comic book characters a whole new platform on which to kick ass.

The Mortal Kombat series has become known for its awesome guest characters. Over the last few years, we’ve seen Jason Voorhees, Freddy Krueger, Leatherface, a Predator and the Alien square off against the Kombat cast. And each of them has put up more than enough of a match to the Mortal Kombat 11 crew of supernaturally powered ninjas, otherworldly mutants and low level deities. But now, if the internet gets its way, a new challenger will be approaching: Shaggy from Scooby-Doo.

For some time now, the animation division over at Warner Bros. has earned much respect by churning out one fantastic DC Comics-based movie after another. But soon enough, believe it or not, they’ll likely be given a shot at adapting one of the most beloved franchises in gaming history: Mortal Kombat.
Actually, this shouldn’t come as a shock since WB now owns the studio developing that series, NetherRealm, not to mention how that same team also puts together the Injustice games. If you’re unfamiliar with those, they’re kind of like Mortal Kombat titles starring DC heroes and villains, though that’s an admitted oversimplification.
Being someone who’s enjoyed dishing out Fatalities (but not Babalities) since the early 1990’s, I’m quite thrilled to hear the wheels have begun turning on this one because, let’s be honest, a live action reboot isn’t happening anytime soon.

DC Comics character Harley Quinn has seen a rise in popularity in recent years, especially after the Dceu movie Suicide Squad. First introduced as a one-time character for the Emmy Award-winning Batman: The Animated Series, she quickly became so popular that her character became a major presence in the DC universe. Created by Paul Dini and Bruce Timm, she has been featured in various animated series and movies, standalone comics, has an upcoming Harley Quinn-focused movie (with Margot Robbie reprising the role), and will soon have her own animated series. She also plays a major role in the storylines of other heroes and villains in the comics. In Injustice, she works with Batman to bring down the corrupt Superman.
Despite her frequent appearances in various DC properties, there are still a number of things that fans understandably get wrong about her, largely due to the popularity of Harley Quinn and the Joker as an item.

Even though an announcement confirming Zack Snyder has indeed completed the fabled director’s cut of Justice League probably won’t be made at San Diego Comic-Con next week – which, let’s face it, has made his departure from the Dceu all the more disheartening – we can, however, at the very least, revel in his previous installment into the divisive shared cinematic universe, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. Something the founding father himself, and his partner in crime, storyboard artist Jay Oliva, seem to do on the daily.
When they’re not stirring the fandom into a frenzy, what with their discourse on the Snyder cut, or expunging of Dceu minutia and alike, Snyder and Oliva can be found on social media, force-feeding the masses their spoonful of behind the scenes and alternate design content – surprisingly, the latter more often than the former, as of late.

There’s no better time to be a comic book fan than right now. The movies are dominating the box office with both Black Panther and Infinity War pushing their way into the ranks of the highest grossing movies ever made.
It’s not only limited to the big screen, though. Comic books are being adapted everywhere. There are almost too many shows to count from both Marvel and DC, not even counting series based on so many indie comics.
DC has built an entire universe at CW, just as Marvel has done at Netflix.
Spider-Man will return to the universe of open-world adventure games that he helped to define with ActiVision’s Spider-Man on the original PlayStation for the new PS4 game, while other Marvel properties are promised to receive new games as well.
DC has been dominating the gaming sphere for years with mega-hit titles like the Arkham series and Injustice.

Following his departure from the Dceu, whether he was relieved or withdrew voluntarily, Zack Snyder has essentially gone it alone regarding the purging his now obsolete vision. As of late, however, the Saturn Award winner has seen storyboard artist, Jay Oliva – who’s been a veritable treasure trove of Dceu minutia – and Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice cinematographer, Larry Fong, assist with some of the heavy lifting.
Speaking of Dawn of Justice, the Dceu founding father, perhaps most notably, recently expunged the significance of the Knightmare vision experienced by Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) in the divisive motion picture. Long story short, The Flash (Ezra Miller) is running on the cosmic treadmill in order to deliver the ominous warning to Bats. Having confirmed that the NetherRealm Studios video game, Injustice, did indeed influence the Knightmare scene, I’ll let you draw your own conclusion as to what Snyder had planned...

Silence is not something found in abundance at fighting game tournaments. Hype is the currency the fighting game community trades in, and skilled play is a press that mints hype.
In Cologne, Germany last October, Red Bull held a team tournament for “Street Fighter V” called The Pit. Like most tournaments, the atmosphere was electrifying. When Team Ecv, including Sven Van de Wege, took the stage, a hush fell over the crowd and suddenly the atmosphere resembled that of a golf tournament more than a fighting game tournament.
The crowd went silent because the announcer had prompted them to do so out of respect for Van de Wege, who is blind and plays using only audio cues.
He lost, but the crowd nonetheless erupted like a volcano for him.

I reckon we could all use a break from the scuttlebutt regarding Justice League at the moment, right? Thankfully, Twitter user @ReevzFX has provided just that with a trio of behind the scenes snapshots from Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice featuring Ben Affleck’s frequent stunt double, Richard Cetrone, in complete Knightmare attire, for your recreational viewing pleasure.
Cetrone, who also served as the stunt double recently for Paul Bettany in Solo: A Star Wars Story, can be seen in costume as Batman during the filming of the, for lack of a better word, badass Warehouse sequence as well as the aforementioned Knightmare scene.
This isn’t the first time that Cetrone is finding himself in the spotlight, either, as Zack Snyder recently hearkened back to a time when the Dceu was his to control, sharing an additional behind the scenes shot of the stuntman in the Batsuit on...

The lore regarding a Zack Snyder cut of Justice League has become much more tangible over the last seven days or so. Having revealed that the NetherRealm Studios video game, Injustice, did indeed influence the Knightmare narrative in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, the director has now practically confirmed that Darkseid was his endgame.
When Justice League entered post-production, Snyder, whether he was relieved of his duties or departed voluntarily, was subsequently replaced by Joss Whedon in May of 2017, during which time the motion picture in question went through two months of reshoots. As a result, the theatrical cut differed significantly from Zack’s intended vision.
Evidently, the Dceu blueprint concocted by Snyder was so near and dear to the filmmaker that he’s sought a personal vendetta against Warner Bros. for their blatant disrespect of his efforts. Regardless of it being a tactic or harmless reminiscing, Snyder has...

During the last twenty four hours, we’ve seen Zack Snyder bring out the big gun. Namely, confirming the direction of his grandiose vision for the Dceu.
Having corroborated that the NetherRealm Studios video game, Injustice, did indeed influence the Knightmare sequence in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, the American-born filmmaker hosted an online discussion with fans yesterday to clear up any confusion regarding the discarded narrative, and boy, did it ever.
However, before we get to that, in about as useful a way as Twitter has been used to date, @GreatKungLao has posted a side-by-side comparison of the Whedon and Snyder versions of Justice League in quite a lengthy thread. I won’t run through it now, as we’d be here all night, but it’s definitely worth checking out if you’re in favour of the Snyder Cut.

For as long as more than one superhero has existed, fans have debated who’d win in a fight between their favorite do-gooders. And over the years, there have been a variety of comic books that have answered some of those questions, with video game series like Injustice and Marvel vs. Capcom allowing for us all to take this notion to the next level.
Regardless, there’s seemingly nothing that’ll stymie heated debates, as we learned over the weekend at Motor City Comic Con. In fact, during a panel, one fan asked Stephen Amell who’d win if the character he currently plays on television, the Green Arrow, and Hawkeye came to blows.
Here’s what he had to offer:
“I think that any iteration of Green Arrow would beat any iteration of Hawkeye just based on the fact he’s not weird and left-handed. I’m kidding, I’m kidding,...

Yesterday, Justice League director Zack Snyder, who’s practically disowned the egregious supergroup feature, confirmed that the Knightmare Flash (Ezra Miller) sequence experienced by Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) in his 2016 superhero epic, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, was indeed influenced by the DC Comics video game, Injustice.
Snyder, who’s been using the social media platform, Vero, as a weapon of mass destruction against Warner Bros. for refusing to release his cut of the 2017 blockbuster, has been running through his extensive vision for the Dceu with a fine-tooth comb, practically since the new year begun.
The cut and concealed content revealed by Snyder ranges from a James Gordon Jr. Easter egg, all the way to snapshots confirming deleted scenes. And while arguably, the pièce de résistance came with the aforementioned confirmation of an Injustice-esque arc in Justice League, that hasn’t stopped the director from sharing tidbits of trivia with the diehard fandom.

Although Snyder has yet to clarify what, exactly, the tenebrous passage means, the consensus is that it alludes to an alternate future where Lois Lane has died, (possibly at the hands of the Joker), causing Superman (Henry Cavill), for lack of a better term, to go rogue.

These days, a superhero’s costume can be one of the most crucial elements when it comes to selling tickets to any given movie in the genre. Really, it may sound kind of inconsequential, but do you think anybody in today’s age is going to lay down cash to see a character if they think they look stupid? Needless to say, we’ve come a long way from the loose-fitting spandex and high trunks featured in the Batman film serials from the 1940’s.
And with Justice League serving as one of the Flash’s first big screen outings, it was very important that the filmmakers got the look right. Furthermore, and especially because another Scarlet Speedster who happens to be Barry Allen under the cowl is running around on TV, it was paramount that Ezra Miller’s version of the character look markedly different from that of Grant Gustin’s.

Even though I’m someone who walked away from the Justice League movie that we eventually received with a smile on my face, there’s no way I’m going to say that it was perfect or was the complete package that my favorite characters deserved. Actually, I find myself conflicted because while I do love some of the actors that populate the landscape that makes up the DC Extended Universe such as Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot and Jason Momoa, every little bit of trivia surrounding the canned Justice League Mortal forces me to believe that it’d have been the better product.

CW’s Arrow has shown that DC Comics characters can work on the small screen. This season has gotten positive attention from both fans and critics and continues to build its world and introduce more characters and concepts from the comics. As well as Arrow, DC Entertainment has announced that there are Jim Gordon, John Constantine, and Hourman shows in development at Fox, NBC, and CW respectively. The first two characters are relatively popular, especially Jim Gordon, who was portrayed by Oscar-nominated actor Gary Oldman in the Dark Knight trilogy, but who outside die-hard Justice Society fans knows who Hourman is? In this articles, the Sound on Sight writers will show what DC characters and comics series should have their own series instead of Hourman and whatever his superpowers are.

David Tennant in The Escape Artist. co. BBC
Who would be an attorney eh? At the start of the BBC’s The Escape Artist, Will (David Tennant) was a hihg-flying barrister who had never lost a case. Better yet, he was a happily married family man who had figured out a way to successfully balance his career and his family life. All that changed when he was asked to defend the sinister Liam Foyle (Toby Kebbell). Among other things, Foyle was accused of being a sadistic, murdering necrophiliac. Under duress from his firm, Will took the case and as per usual, he won. However, if defending Foyle was a mistake then refusing to shake his hand was an even bigger one. The symbolic snub sparked a sequence of events that began with Foyle filing a complaint against Will and ended with him butchering Will’s wife in her own living room.

David Croft
If you write a list of your 10 favorite British TV sitcom characters, probably half of them were created by comic genius David Croft. His creations include Mr Humphries (Are You Being Served?), Sergeant Major ‘Shut up’ Williams (It Ain’t Half Hot Mum) Herr Flick (Allo, Allo) and Corporal Jones (Dad’s Army). Like many great comedy writers, Croft collaborated with others including Jimmy Perry and David Floyd. Few writers though could match his creativity or career longevity. Such was Croft’s popularity that he was a regular guest on the British TV convention circuit right up until his death at the age of 89.
Paul Abbott
BAFTA and Emmy winning writer Paul Abbott, rose from humble origins to become one of the most successful writers in British TV history. His hard-hitting dramas are far removed from the idyllic world of Marple and Midsomer Murders.
