The episode jumps right into the very last immunity challenge, which looks like a doozy. Being the final challenge, the stakes couldn’t be higher. As we all know, the winner here will handpick who will join him or her in the Final 3, and which two players will face off in the often griped about fire-making challenge. (It’s me. I gripe.) Nearly 35 years have passed since writer/director Richard Stanley sent his sci-fi horror cult classic Hardware out into the world. Now, the folks at the Australian company Umbrella Entertainment have revealed that they’re getting an early start on celebrating the film’s anniversary by giving it a 4K collector’s edition release – and this release includes a copy of the script for the unmade sequel! Copies of the 4K collector’s edition set can be purchased at This Link.
Starring Dylan McDermott and Stacey Travis, with a cameo by Lemmy and a vocal performance by Iggy Pop, Hardware has the following synopsis: In the barren, radioactive wastelands of the future lies the discarded remains of a Mark 13 cyborg, an advanced military killing machine. When purchased as scrap by Space Trooper Mo as a gift for his sculptress girlfriend, the dismembered remains begin to reconstruct themselves. The fully restored...

Stephen King knows horror. For 50 years now, King has been terrifying readers with his best-selling tales of terror — books that have stood the test of time to become classics of the genre. So, whenever King weighs in on a horror title that he didn't write, people take notice. A recommendation from Stephen King is a recommendation from a master, and while some of King's tastes may be questionable (remember when he praised "The Flash" on Twitter before the movie was released? That was weird!), they're still worth some attention.
In 1981, King published "Danse Macabre," a non-fiction book in which he examined the horror genre in all its various forms. In 2010, the book was re-published with a new essay from King. In that essay, he not only wrote more about the horror genre, but he also ran through a list of recent horror movies that he recommends.

A certain type of cinephile weeb (hello) holds maybe no post-New Wave Japanese director more highly than Shinji Somai, but it’s the nature of such fandom that his brilliance––expertly plotted, emotionally precise films shot in some of the most incredible long takes (Lost Chapter of Snow: Passion should be the benchmark)––has never quite escaped westward. Having seen all of Somai’s films on, with few exceptions, ruddy DVD rips, it’s amazing to watch the trailer for “Rites of Passage,” an inaugural North American retrospective starting April 28 at New York’s Japan Society––it simply never seemed they’d be in this state.
Obviously this is uncharted waters for even the more adventurous reader, so: Criterion Daily does a nice job summarizing Somai’s importance for Japanese filmmakers, noting the affection he’s received from Kiyoshi Kurosawa, Shinji Aoyama, and Ryûsuke Hamaguchi, the latter of whom has...

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not watched the second season of “Saved by the Bell,” streaming now on Peacock.
In conceptualizing her continuation series of “Saved by the Bell,” Tracey Wigfield knew there were certain things fans of the original series would be waiting to see. On the top of that list was the romantic reunion of Jessie Spano (Elizabeth Berkley Lauren) and A.C. Slater (Mario Lopez). After realizing they still had feelings for each other, they finally kissed again, 30 years in the making, in the second season finale.
“What are we doing here if Slater and Jessie aren’t going to hook up?” the showrunner says with a laugh. “When I watched the ‘90210’ reboot, I had very little personal connection to that show, but I was like, ‘When are the people who kissed 30 years ago going to kiss again?’ There’s just a part...

Bad movies are a very common thing these days. Particularly, movies released direct to DVD fall into this sad category. One such cinematic disaster, Rites of Passage is the subject of this review and the flaws contained in this flop are almost too many to count. The film is a thriller with a relatively good cast but has an unfortunate combination of a laughably bad script and weak direction. These two negative factors basically destroy the movie and make Rites of Passage one of the year’s worst films.

*full disclosure: a Blu-ray copy of this film was provided by Magnet Releasing for review. Director: W. Peter Iliff. Writers: Rick Halsey and W. Peter Iliff. Cast: Wes Bentley, Kate Maberly, Ryan Donowho, Christian Slater, Stephen Dorff, Briana Evigan, Travis Van Winkle, Carly Schroeder, Ashley Hinshaw and Guy Burnet. A rite of passage is often a transition from adolescence into adulthood. The Jewish people celebrate this transition of a boy into puberty with a Bat Mitzvah. Mozoltov! In W. Peter Iliff's (Point Break) Rites of Passage, there is very little ceremony or celebration. Instead, there is fractured storyline, weak acting and a film that seems to spin its tires, rather than moving forward. This title released October 16th through home video formats and this review is your friendly warning to stay away from this title. To elaborate more on rites of passage, these rituals usually brought initiates into groups more fully.
