TV giant Fremantle has acquired the worldwide rights to “Penelope,” the coming-of-age indie drama produced by Duplass Brothers Productions

Created by Mark Duplass and Mel Eslyn, the 8-part series premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival and is set to launch on Netflix in the U.S. on Sep. 24.

The series follows Penelope, played by Megan Stott, a 16-year-old who feels out of place in modern society and is drawn into the unknown wilderness, where she begins to form a new life for herself in a National Forest.

Alongside Stott, the cast also includes Austin Abrams, Krisha Fairchild and Rhenzy Feliz.

Brad Pitt and George Clooney are two lone-wolf fixers who are forced to work together after they’re tasked with the same assignment in Jon Watts’ upcoming action comedy “Wolfs,” in theaters Sept. 20 via Sony.

As Clooney puts on gloves to cover up what looks like a grisly murder, he assures a woman, “There’s nobody who can do who I do.” Seconds later, Pitt walks in wearing a similar outfit, already gloved.

The Comedy Central series has signed up three new correspondents to its news team: Troy Iwata, Josh Johnson, Grace Kuhlenschmidt.

They are the first new correspondents to join the show in six years, since the arrival of Jaboukie Young-White, who joined in 2018 and left in 2021. The last new correspondent still on the show was Dulcé Sloan, who joined in September 2017 (Jordan Klepper returned in December 2019 having previously been featured on the show).

Iwata and Kuhlenschmidt joined the show in October 2023 and Johnson, who was previously a writer on the show, made his on-screen debut in February. The move to official correspondents just happened, despite being on the show for a few months.

The “One Piece” live-action series at Netflix is bringing in Joe Tracz to serve as its new co-showrunner for Season 2.

Tracz will helm the popular series based on the Eiichiro Oda manga of the same name alongside Season 1 co-showrunner, writer, and executive producer Matt Owens. Steven Maeda, who developed the series with Owens and was co-showrunner on Season 1, will step down but continue to serve as an executive producer on the series.

“Joe has brought a wealth of enthusiasm and experience into our second season that will help take ‘One Piece’ to new heights,” Owens said. “We’re incredibly lucky to have him as a co-captain of this ship. The best crew on the seas grows larger!”

Exclusive: Following a lengthy audition process, sources tell Deadline that Euphoria actor Austin Abrams has landed a coveted role in the untitled Apple Original Films pic starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt with Jon Watts writing, producing and directing. Amy Ryan also recently joined the cast.

While the film ultimately is a two-hander between Clooney and Pitt, the role Abrams met for is almost considered the third lead and became one of the more sought-after parts for any 20-something actor in town last winter given its star-making potential. Watts and Apple execs met with a number of individuals, which included watching dozens of taped auditions, and insiders say Abrams’ two tests ultimately blew the director and Apple away.

It's been 28 years since audiences were first introduced to Scott Calvin in The Santa Clause, and now Scott is once again gracing TV screens everywhere. Prime Video today shared the first-look image of Emma Roberts in the new original romcom Space Cadet.

Directed by Liz W. Garcia (The Lifeguard) from her own original screenplay, the film follows Florida party girl Rex (Roberts), who turns out to be the only hope for the NASA space program after a fluke puts her in training with other candidates who may have better resumes, but don’t have her smarts, heart, and nerve, the synopsis reads.

Previously announced to star alongside Roberts are Poppy Liu (Hacks), Gabrielle Union (The Inspection), Tom Hopper (The Umbrella Academy), Colombian pop star Sebastián Yatra, David Foley (The Kids in the Hall), and Desi Lydic (Awkward). Ever since Barbie Ferreira announced she won't be reprising her role as Kat Hernandez in season three of "Euphoria," fans have been wondering what this means for Austin Abrams, who plays her ex-boyfriend Ethan Daley on the show. As of now, it looks like the 26-year-old is expecting to return for the third installment, though in what capacity remains unclear.

While speaking with The Nerds of Color in February, Abrams shared his hopes for the upcoming season. "Yeah, I got no idea. I don't know what is happening or going on," he said of season three. "I mean, I think [season two] for him has been a cool change and awakening. I feel like he's just becoming more of an adult now, just having more of a backbone and standing up for himself, which I think is super cool. But yeah, I got no idea. Grey's Anatomy's already stacked cast is expanding, leading to many questions about what Grey's Anatomy Season 19 could look like after that gnarly conclusion to Grey's Anatomy Season 18.

Per TV Line, the newest addition to the cast is Midori Francis, who is best known for Netflix's one-and-done Dash & Lily, as well as HBO Max's hilarious comedy Sex Lives of College Girls.

Francis will play Mika Yasuda, a first-year surgical resident.

The trio will each play new residents at Grey Sloan, though their trajectory is unclear since Season 18 of the long-running drama series ended with Grey Sloan losing its surgical residency accreditation.

The polls are officially open for the 2022 Primetime Emmys, but voters will notice a somewhat glaring omission when they begin to fill out their ballots: Netflix’s acclaimed charmer Heartstopper is Mia.

A Netflix rep tells TVLine that the decision was made to submit the rookie dramedy in the newly-created Children’s & Family Emmys, which is slated to launch later this year after having previously been folded into the Daytime Emmys ceremony. It’s there that Heartstopper will be submitted in all Young Teen categories.
