With the success of R.L. Stine's first Fear Street trilogy for Netflix, a new prom queen-centric story is slashing its way onto the streaming service later this year -- one that fans have been eagerly awaiting. Set to release later this year, bringing this classic theme, beloved by horror enthusiasts for its mix of glamour and gore, is a smart move, ripe for reinvention in the Fear Street universe. The buzz around the film isn’t just nostalgia bait, though, with a new generation of horror fans ready to dive in.
Netflix’s gamble on a multi-part horror series paid off handsomely the first time around with the first Fear Street trilogy. On January 10, the long-storied history surrounding author R.L Stine's Goosebumps series will once again hit the small screen. Just as the first season did, this new iteration (subtitled The Vanishing) will discard the isolated episodic storytelling from the 1995 television show and instead have one main horror arc stretched out over all the entries. Not only does the trailer seem to hint that the show will have thematic elements from Goosebumps books like Monster Blood, Stay Out of the Basement, and The Girl Who Cried Monster, but actor David Schwimmer (of Friends fame) has stepped into one of the main roles as a divorced dad who becomes the unwilling recipient for some dangerous science experiments.

Is 2024 already ending? What the hell?
Buffy, Amends:
This episode holds a special place in the hearts of Buffy fans everywhere. Angel’s back from the dead and grappling with the why of it all. Haunted by the ghosts of his tortured past, he can’t help but pull Buffy into his spiral. Meanwhile, the Scoobies are navigating their own weirdness because, let’s face it, Sunnydale doesn’t exactly lend itself to peaceful holidays or any days. Christmas may already be an uncomfortable time for many, but throw in the Hellmouth and, honestly, it’s just another Tuesday.
Angel is, understandably, on everyone’s naughty list, but in this episode, he’s less brooding antihero and more tortured little boy. It’s always been hard for me to reconcile hardcore Angel with the guilt-ridden “new and improved” version we get here.

R L Stine’s Goosebumps has been renewed for a second series at Disney+, with a change in format to an anthology show.
R L Stine’s Goosebumps is one of the bestselling book series in history. It is no surprise that it has had myriad screen adaptations over the years.
Perhaps the most fondly remembered is the 1990s television series, which had memorable opening titles in which the shadow of the G in Goosebumps made it’s way through an eerie town while the unsettling theme tune played over it.
Many of the original novels were adapted, and it marked a high point for television horror aimed at young adults, as it was broadcast around the same time as Are You Afraid Of The Dark?, a horror anthology aimed at older teenagers. Iconic scaremaker R.L. Stine has been terrorizing kids and teens for over three decades. The mere mention of the author’s name readily brings up memories of Goosebumps and Fear Street. Yet, it was his two short-story collections, The Haunting Hour and Nightmare Hour, that inspired one of the best horror TV shows for young people.
The beginnings of The Haunting Hour can be traced back to a 2007 straight-to-video movie called Don’t Think About It, which then aired on Cartoon Network. Despite its title and Stine’s writing credit, though, the movie’s script wasn’t based on anything from its literary namesake. In fact, this was an original story penned by creative partners Dan Angel and Billy Brown. One of the production companies behind Don’t Think About It, The Hatchery, then revived the Haunting Hour brand a few years later once its co-founder and the movie’s executive producer,...

There are plenty of TV shows like Goosebumps that similarly combine horror and comedy in varying doses. Based on R.L. Stine's children's books of the same name, the Disney Goosebumps series follows past adaptations including a '90s show with an anthology format and two feature-length movies. While Disney's Goosebumps isn't connected to those previous incarnations, it similarly retains the spirit of the novels by blending suspense, mystery, and touches of humor.
The same can be said of many of the best anthology horror shows, including the young adult fare of Are You Afraid of the Dark? and R. L. Stine's The Haunting Hour, the latter of which is also based on books by the author of Goosebumps. For viewers looking for darker stories and content, there's The Twilight Zone, Tales from the Crypt, and Goedam. In the age of streaming, there is no shortage of TV shows...

The trailer for the movie adaptation of R.L. Stine's "Zombie Town" only takes basic elements from the book, altering much of the story. The focus of the trailer is on horror filmmaker Len Carver, rather than the book's main characters Mike and Karen. The movie seems to be a team-up vehicle for Dan Aykroyd and Chevy Chase, despite their characters not being present in the original story.
“Do you stay awake nights worrying about zombies?” R.L. Stine posed this question about his standalone novel Zombie Town. The author is arguably best known by most readers for his incomparable Goosebumps series, in which some stories have already been adapted for film and television. Now, Zombie Town is getting the big-screen treatment, too, with both Dan Aykroyd and Chevy Chase starring in the upcoming film. Check out the Zombie Town trailer below:

R.L. Stine's 4 four-season show The Haunting Hour was a step above his already beloved children's horror show Goosebumps, as its stories were creepier and were designed for older kids and teenagers. Ergo, the scares were amped up. The episodes were crafted as hour-long ghost tales meant to scare the younger horror-loving crowds but the show never went too over the top.

Superman star Margot Kidder passed away in May and now the cause of her death has been revealed as an apparent suicide. Park County coroner Richard Wood recently released a statement saying that Kidder "died as a result of a self-inflicted drug and alcohol overdose." No further information regarding her passing is going to be released.
Margot Kidder, who played Lois Lane in the 1978 blockbuster superhero movie Superman, was discovered by a friend at her home in Montana on May 13. The state has one of the highest rates of suicide in the nation. Kidder had her share of troubles and dealt with bipolar disorder throughout her life, and was diagnosed with manic depression in 1988. This ultimately led to her having a breakdown in 1996. Kidder even spent a brief time being homeless following her breakdown. In the years that followed, she advocated for doing away with the stigmas that surround mental health issues.

From her key role in Don't Be Afraid of the Dark to her work on Good Witch, Holliston, and R.L. Stine's The Haunting Hour, actress and producer Bailee Madison is no stranger to stories that embrace the strange and the supernatural. In her new film The Night Before Halloween, Bailee plays a character who encounters the deadly Curse of the Carver one fateful fall with her friends. Ahead of the movie's premiere on Syfy this Saturday night at 9:00pm Et, we caught up with Bailee for our latest Q&A feature to discuss playing a "badass with a heart," the physicality of the role, two very different movies that she likes to watch around Halloween, and more.

Lifetime announced today that it's making The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story, which will air on Labor Day. The movie has already started filming in Vancouver. Purists among us might wonder why this isn't called The Unauthorized Good Morning Miss Bliss Story, but no doubt such complaints will fall on deaf ears.Dylan Everett, best known as the suicidal hockey player Cam on Degrassi (R.I.P.), will play Mark-Paul Gosselaar; Julian Works, who had a small role in Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones, will play Mario Lopez; and Sam Kindseth, who's on a few episodes of Shameless, will play Dustin Diamond. Every town in America has their version of The Wicked. They're the weird person, house, or other location kids whisper about amongst themselves in fear and parents use to threaten their children with. It's the old house on the hill everyone walks faster by on the way home from school or the old man or woman we're told not to talk to.
Director Peter Winther and writer Michael Vickerman put together a fun little indie film that is only hindered by shoddy CGI and a wavering sense of who it was made for. The Wicked is an extended episode of R.L. Stine's The Haunting Hour until we get one or two sequences of sexuality and dialogue littered with bad language. Movies like this always leave me shaking my head in wonder. If they tone down those elements or omit them, they would have a PG-13 film that more people could enjoy.

Don't miss Mackenzie Foy on next weekend's new episode of R.L. Stine's The Haunting Hour! Foy returns to the show for an all-new episode (Season 3, Episode 21 "Red Eye," airing Saturday, Nov. 17 at 6:00 p.m. Et on The Hub), and there's a really cool Twilight-esque story behind the script for the installment to boot. Jack Morrissey - partner to The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 director Bill Condon - revealed today that the episode was written by a screenwriting couple who first fell in love on the set of Breaking Dawn. Greg Yolen, Condon's assistant on the set, and his wife Natalie Lapointe "literally fell for eachother in the Cullen's back yard while shooting Bella & Edward's wedding," Morrissey reported. The fact that the episode of The Haunting Hour which the lovebirds sold includes Breaking Dawn break-out star Mackenzie Foy and that it's airing alongside opening ...

Frankie Jonas took some of us MTV News-ers costume shopping in preparation for the spookiest day of the year, Halloween. We all headed over to Abracadabra costume shop here in NYC, where the Bonus Jonas himself weighed in on the two costumes he's thinking of wearing this year.
"I chose the zombie because I was a zombie for two years in a row ... zombies they're like the full on, everyone loves a zombie," the "R.L. Stine's The Haunting Hour: The Series" star explained. "Zombies are the base of Halloween 'cause you get dead, you get living and you get creepy."
"I like Chucky because it's really, like no offense to Chucky, but he's kind of cheesy," the 11-year-old continued. "But that's what I like about him. I love old cheesy horror movies. I love horror movies. My two favorites are probably 'Sweeney Todd' and the original 'Nightmare on Elm Street.
